I cant find any video for my 2017 XT5... are they similar?
Thank you for doing these videos. Excellent step by step processes.
A couple of things for anybody trying this. Be careful tightening down that 10 mm bolt holding down the speed sensor because I over tightened it and broke the boat right off. Also, trying to get the old hub assembly off was one of the most difficult things I’ve ever done on a car. I’ve never sworn so much in my life. I kept hitting it with a hammer and used about half a can of PB blaster and I got her off.
There's this thing I like to use it's call a wheel hub puller you can rent them at the auto parts.
A+ video, I certainly referred to it several times !

Great video! I had to put some heat to one of the rotor to hub screws. It would not budge but with the repeated heat it finally broke. Definitely need penetrant to get some of the hub bolts out. I could not have completed this without a slide hammer and a sledge hammer and this video.

Can you post comment to where on your site we can find the bolts that mount the wheel bearing hub to the vehicle , I snapped one off and can’t seem to find them anywhere
+Adam Malone We do not currently have these for sale separately, you may be able to find these locally. You can also see if a local shop will assist you in getting these particular bolts.
Hello. Could you help me I have a 2012 cadillac srx and this ad appears on the dashboard. service Rear Axel. and I don't know what it is. or what do I mean. Thank you so much.
+Fernando Vazquez We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
What is the shim for, and what happens if it is missing?
Anyone who hasn't followed 1A before they are the best I have watched bar none. I have been a mechanic for nearly 50 years and when I get into something new this is where I go.
DO NOT EVER HIT THE END OF THE AXLE WITH A HAMMER. Unless you have a new one to replace it, use the center punch hole designed by the manufacturer to push the axle out.
Very good video. Very detailed in every step, and even gave us the torque specs.
CAUTION!!!!!!! Wheel Nut Torque 150 NM or 110 ft lb from the 2013 SRX
Owner's Manual Not 140ft lb as stated in the video at 15:50.
The manual tell me 111 foot pounds
Agreed and correct, 110ft/lb for the 2013
Great video. Glad to see a video using tools home mechanics use. Excellent explanation and demonstration.
+Gordon Leech Thanks for watching. If any of our viewers needs to make this repair, we carry the auto repair part shown in this video on our website. Here is a link to them www.1aauto.com/2010-16-cadillac-srx-wheel-bearing-and-hub-assembly-trq-bha54129/i/1ashf00484?RUclips&CTA+Comment&
The three hub bolts should be replaced. When tightening would not reach torque specification of 125 bl ft. Dealer has a package of bolts for $8. New bolts should be in the box with the new hub bearing, if this is such a problem.
5:30 Unnecessary. The magnetic sensor sits BEHIND the reluctance ring, and cannot possibly be damaged by removing the hub or installing a new one.
Loosen the axle before you remove the wheel . Use the axle nut flush with the axle to prvent mushrooming add antiseeze to the back of the new baring so itz easier to remove next time
Thanks for checking us out. 1aauto.com +Hamadanners
@@1AAuto How does one loosen the axle? Thanks.
Anyone could figure out the front. You should have done the rear hub. Thats the problem child.

I always put a little anti-seize on the hub and some spline grease on the axle before I reassemble it. Sometimes their a bear to get off so the next guy should thank me. By the way the car looks clean enough to be a warranty job.
Hahahahaha tap it a lil pfffff
Thank you so much! Easy DIY car project ordering the parts from 1A Auto and following this video!
One of the shim driver side is broken and can seem to find it went to oreillys they say their computer don’t show a shim goes there !
Damn lol after watching these videos, I wish I had all the tools I need to do this myself :(. That is why I got to take my car to a shop. If only I had the tools.......the madness of it all!!!! lmao Great videos keep em coming :)
Excellent vdo as usual....your vdo's can make even a 5yr old repair anything 😆
Why are there no videos on how to do the REAR??? how do i get the sensor out?? So many questions
Excellent video. Just replaced front bearing on a 2012 SRX in a couple hours. Easy to follow instructions. First 1A part buyer from 1A auto. Shipping was fast and arrived without damage. Will definitely be a returning customer in the future. Keep making videos like this one.
Awesome video. Thank you!! You saved me $500 doing this myself!!
Thanks for checking us out. 1aauto.com +John Watt
Thank you guys did bearing on bothsides 2003 trailblazer can't imagine how much that would have cost
I changed the two boxes of balls to my 2010 cadillac srx and still with the code 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
my rear 2012 luxury edition srx wheel baring assembly doesn't look like that. my doesnt have that big wheel nut in the center like the ones in the front. the rear wheel bearing on my 2012 srx are hollow. WTH !!!!
Air chisel it will pop off faster
Can I add some lubricant on the central axle to prevent from rust or it is not recommended. I'm thinking about silicone grease. Thank you for the film.
Good video. Just wanted to suggest using a 3 jaw wheel puller rather than a hammer to remove bearing assembly. I find it makes the job a little easier. Just something I do; always looking for the easiest way I can find. lol
+J L Castille Thanks for checking us out and for the tip! 1AAuto.com
The slide hammer-style would be OK, but the pully or gear-puller style would be a huge no-no. There's nothing on the other end of that drive shaft to push against except its retaining clips.
i used a punch thru the hub bolt holes...tapped it right off. other vehicles ive used an air chisel on the axle, works perfect
If I had to replace the Wheel Bearing Hub mounting bolts where can I buy them?
I like how you show that these repairs can be done with minimal power tools. If you looking at how to do this repair, you probably don’t have a full set of shop tools, so it makes the video more useful.
There is a special tool that allows u to push the axel through with a bolt and socket. No hammer needed. Also loosening the wheel hub nut while the vehicle is still on the ground makes the process a lot easier.
+john smith Thanks for the tip!
How can you loosen the wheel hub nut while the car is on the ground? You have to take the wheel off to get to the wheel hub nut correct?
@@keithbourgeois7989 depending on the type of the reams. On my 2010 SRX you remove center cover and axle nut is exposed
BEAUTIFUL, WONDERFUL, SUPERB JOB. THANK YOU. I NEED TO DO THIS ON SRX 2012.
Should the splined shaft brake lose from the wheel bearing hub the same in the rear as you show it in the front ?
Question, the 3 bolts that hold on the hub bearing say to replace by gm. You reused them with no issue . Working on my mothers 2010 srx luxury fwd. when I tried to reuse them with thread lock medium Loctite paste they were pretty tight at 75lbs an at 90 it seemed like they were stretched out too much about to break. They were poked further out than yours looked in the photo . Just making sure all models are 125 ft lbs ? I only took them to 95 lbs and I pulled 1 out an it was 1mm smaller in the middle from stretching and they didn’t seem like that when I first removed them. Do you guys sell the bolts ?
Same thing happened to me ! Dealer has the bolt kit.
Perfect for my 2011 Saab 9-4x too!
Good video. I have a 2010 CTS that has a mild humming noise coming from the rear passenger side while driving. No trouble codes are set. 78K on the vehicle.
The CTS are a pain in the rear, the SRX in the video is a walk in the park compared to CTS
What psi is use to take off cv axle nut?
Great video love it going doing mine now
Awesome video, thank you !

i have 2012 cadillac srx when i drive straight it sound like tire noise when i slightly turn left noise goes away when i turn right noise is still there dont know which bearing is bad front right or left , please help
+Arjun Patel We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
Generally it’s on the opposite side of the direction that you are turning due to the extra weight being forced on the opposite side from the turning direction. In your case this sounds like the drivers side (left) as you are turning right and hear the noise.
Thank you !A Auto
Excellent, I’ll do mine tomorrow
Great video
Thank you very much for doing this!
Great video, tried that on mine but the hub won’t come off, too much corrosion...
Any trick ?
+Grégory Laye Yes, here's the how-to video you're looking for: ruclips.net/video/JKcgXmX8oBo/видео.html
Get a brush and brush some automatic transmission fluid on that thing let it soak for a day or PB blaster
Great video
u say why u would tighten lug nuts in a certain way but dont say why u would replace a wheel bering
Wheel barings wear out over time not just the lugs
+outoftime Signs a wheel bearing is going would be wobbling, grinding, and humming while the vehicle is in motion. Wheel bearings go bad after a long period of time and eventually need to be replaced. If your wheel bearing is good, there's no need to replace it.
@@TheHamadanners huh wat the
How much do you pay for the parts?
I just replace a wheel bearing assembly on a 2011 Cadillac SRX4. The local Autozone was $85 + tax and Amazon had the same part # for $45 with no tax and free shipping. It's almost always much cheaper (average 1/2 the price online) to get parts online if you have time to wait.
How long would this take.
+Ernest M Should take a few hours.
Great video, it helped me a lot when I changed out the front on my daughters car. But now I have to change the rear. Is there a video for the rear replacement? Or is it about the same. I just want to know if there is anything different for the rear. My daughter car is FWD. Any help will be great appreciated.
+Nazario We don't have a how-to video for your vehicle right now, but the basic steps in this video should be enough to do this task. Buy this part for your vehicle on 1AAuto.com: 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
