The what if you lived on a desert island response: 'What if you lived in modern civilisation with an abundance of different foods, would you choose to kill animals when you didnt have to?' That's really solid

@@_zoko3571 bit.ly/2RcKakV one of my friends sent me this. For the record, I'm a vegan but such articles claiming plants are alive keep popping up every other day
I usually say the bit about the central nervous system and then follow up by asking if they were driving down the road and there was a dog in the street, would they hit the dog or drive onto the grass to avoid it?
I thought this was an interesting response for the 'plants feel pain' argument: We don't necessarily even 'kill' a plant to get plant foods. For example, we don't chop the whole tree to get an apple. When we pick an apple off a tree, the tree does not die, the tree will just grow another apple. Can't say the same about pulling a leg off an animal though.
Yes! And many plants die on their own, wether we harvest them or not. Potatoes, for example, are harvested only after the potato plant has died on it's own. Rice and wheat is another plant that dies on it's own when the seeds are mature.
@@christylbk And if they were wild cows they would either get eaten alive by predators or live long enough to wear all their teeth down to nothing and then slowly die of starvation from not being able to eat. You lot talk about the way we treat animals like they would be better off without us but in reality their potential for suffering is a lot higher in the wild than it is in our care.
@@sticks7857 Check out Chillingham wild cattle. If you go by straight percentages, basically 100% of farmed animals in animal agriculture suffer and are killed. The percentage of wild animals that are tortured and killed is significantly lower. And nobody is suggesting we should just turn human-bred cows out into the wild to fend for themselves. We are saying that we should stop breeding them and take responsibility for the ones already here with sanctuaries.
Don't let them get to you, I get a lot of criticism from my family abroad, but my parents and sibling are trying to go fully vegetarian (I'm the only vegan at the moment). Best way to deal with it is to remember that the only reason they're defensive is because you're able to do such a great thing to your body and the Earth, and she is going to thank you in one way or another
I've never been able to give a satisfactory answer to people who criticize veganism. They already decided they're against it, and there's not much you can do about it. Sorry for the pessimism. This is just what has happened in my experience so far: people either say "no that's not true" or they ignore your argument and just restate theirs. Also the list of "... tho"-arguments is so long that they just fire one after the other, it's almost like a bottomless pit :') The problem with using rational arguments is that your interlocutors often don't. You can never win a discussion from someone who is irrational. Edit: PS love your acting Mic :) You're really good.
Yeah veganism is the height of rationality and thats why over 70% of them eventually realize they're being irrational and go back to a normal diet right?
@@sticks7857 PS I didn't mean to say that vegans are per definition rational and meat eaters irrational, far from that. I merely talked about the use of certain arguments by certain people.
A better response for "where do you get your protein? is: "the same place gorillas and elephants get it" I find this one makes them really think for a second and isn't insulting.

Where do you get your protein from? From the supermarket, like everyone else. What about Iron? I get it from plants, alongside with vitamin C. What about B12? I get it from fortified plant food. But that's not natural! Yes it is, everything comes from nature. But that's not healthy! Yes it is, because you body requires (insert nutrient) to function properly. What if you were stuck on a desert island? Then we wouldn't be having this discussion. Why don't you eat (insert animal product here)? Because I don't want to. What about the plant's feelings? Plants don't have emotions. How do you know that? Scientific research and peer reviewed data. Isn't a Vegan Diet expensive? Only if I buy expensive food. What about pets? Animals need safe environment's too. Adopt before you shop.
@Dan M7 well that was the dumbest shit ive ever read lol wow.. if this was mario kart, youd be toad, and youd be going the wrong way on purpose, and if this was pokemon, youd be a magic karp... kaaarp kaarp kaaarp lol
@Dan M7 Did you know that most likely the B12 you are getting from eating meat was fed to the animal as a supplement? 90% of the B12 supplements produced in the world is being fed to livestock. Also meat eaters suffer from B12 deficiency way more often than vegans do and would also die the same way.
@Dan M7 How about the downside of animal products - saturated fats and cholesterol, which cause the number one killer in the western world? And how can you justify killing a living being and polluting the environment, when your biggest reason for eating animals is the taste? Shouldn't waste my energy on people who only find the research convenient to them but can't leave the lie about meat being healthy just float around here.
@Dan M7 Whats wrong with taking supplements? Nothing. Therefore why eat animals? For taste pleasure? Yes, Vegans love animals which is why we don't eat them or take from them. I hope you wake up.
A FEW OF MY QUICK COMEBACKS ^___^ 1. Where do you get your protein from? Me: Supermarket 3. But we have developed canines Me: And what? 5. Vegans think they are so superior Me: Yeah, join us mere carnist. 6. Animals aren't sentient Prove that you're sentient 9. Vegans are weak. Fight me.
Not sure that even if an omnivore called a vegan weak, and the vegan would hint lets test it out, the other would go to such great lengths. Not gonna start a war with you bro,it's meaningless, every single diet has its flaws etc etc
As a vegan - have been for the last 36 years - I've heard all the omnivore questions (it is amazing how they become so deeply concerned about OUR health) and the tedious jokes, which they believe are original! I love your video. Thanks. Your sense of humour, you look so healthy and your quick wit.....nice one.
I remember one of my adult classmates before saying, “Oh, my friend’s kids are Vegan but she shouldn’t force her beliefs on them, she should just wait and let them decide if they want to be Vegan at 18.” And in my mind I was just like... WTH! Because... 1. If kids would see what happens in a slaughterhouse they would go Vegan anyways. 2. There is scientific evidence that Vegan kids are healthier in comparison to non-Vegan kids. 3. Why would you want to teach your own kids that violence towards animals is normal? 4. It’s you who is blindly believing that eating animal products is healthy when it 100% isn’t. 5. You don’t ask your kids for permission with things like, “Do you want to get your immunisations this year? Would you like to go to school today?” ect. 6. By purchasing animal products you are destroying the environment and thus, also your kid’s future. But yeah... I had wanted to tell my classmate my thoughts but it was literally the last day that I would see her and there wasn’t enough time/people over talking. :/ I will try to be faster next time though.
You kinda forgot 7. What madee you think they choose meat? Don’t force them to eat meat untill they are 18. So they are old enough to choose for themselfs
you are forcing your beliefs on them by consciously making them eat animal products, and not giving them the opportunity to become properly educated on what it takes to get food into their plate.
Not sure if any of you have kids, but I do. There's a huge risks when you force kids to do something they don't want to do--especially when all the social norms and social pressure are against you. When they become old enough to make their own choices, there is a huge risk they will go in the opposite direction and aggressively do exactly the opposite of what you have forced them to do. I have kids, and I encourage them to eat a plant-based diet. But I don't force them because I do not want to provoke them into becoming belligerent meat eaters as soon as they are out of my control. Right now they are still choosing to eat chicken and fish. I wasn't vegan when they were toddlers, so they have already developed a taste for it. I hope someday they will follow my example and give up meat, but I think the most likely path to them becoming lifelong vegans is to let them make their own choice now all while making sure they understand why I myself make different choices.
i know most of these answers but for some reason when people ask me these questions it's like I freeze or blank out.. there is just so many things I wanna say and go on a tangent and get angry and so many emotions at once LOL thanks for the refresher!
I usually try to remember to answer in an inclusive way, as in: "yes, I didn't understand that either before I informed myself" or "Yes, the hardest part was giving up cheese" etc... Suddenly you're seen as a person that has had the same questions or feelings, before becoming vegan. But it's still hard and I doubt that we will ever have an easy time on this planet with its current setup... Much Love! 💖🖖🏾

Love this video! My uncle tried using the “plant killing” excuse on me. But reality is most plants drop their fruit, I told him “so we are just going to let them rot? No why would anyone do that.” It’s not hurting the plants by eating the edible portion of the plant. Thanks for all the great videos! Love them!!!
Especially mushrooms, they are an organism that want to be picked in order to spread their spores even more, just make sure you cut it and don't completely take it out of the ground since most of its body is underground (so it can grow back again :>)
@Xx BigBoss xX Chimps are herbivores. They do not require anything more than plants to survive. Eating meat and plants doesn't classify you as an omnivore. The need to subsist of plants and meat classifies you as an omnivore. Neither chimps nor humans require meat to survive and can subsist on only plants in their natural environment. Both have herbivorous physical traits. Bears and dogs are omnivorous, not apes.
⭐️Most common question I get that I need a short answer to is “why are you vegan”.... I say “because I like animals so I don’t want to kill them if I don’t need to”. I never want to get into the 100s of reasons why I’m vegan. Especially when there’s usually lots of people around who don’t care or would be turned off by some big lecture. But I still want to say something that is impactful and makes them think a little.
@@v-sig2389 I always say "for ethical reasons" :) The environmental and health benefits are nice too, but I started for ethics. I'd never be able to feed an animal every day, care for it, and one day kill it to eat it
All that abstract from that study says is that 15.1% of the dietary crude protein of a gorilla's diet is indigestable. Which A) means that 84.9% is digestible, which is a still a lot and B) That's a gorilla's diet which humans don't adhere to in any kind of a strict sense anyway. So basically, that link to that study is relatively meaningless in proving any kind of relevant point. Aside from obtaining enough fiber being the actual dietary nutrient that most non-vegans suffer from commonly.
cligey Something like tofu is rich in vitamins and minerals and contains all amino acids. Also seeds, nuts and beans are very nutritious while high in protein!
cligey legumes have protein in then. Whole wheat bread and peanut butter. And tbh a lot of vegan alternatives have protein added in. Almond milk has protein as well. There’s also vegan meat and a lot of it is made from soy and plants. Tons of protein there. I recommend tofurky for vegan ham. The beyond meat stuff is super high in protein as well. The V symbol on the hat, used to indicate vegan, is actually a Kosher certification symbol that was in existence and trademarked well before it became used for vegan products. I found this out as I was very confused about it because I saw it on lettuce, then on tofurky items in addition to a Kosher certification symbol on some of their products but alone on some of their other products, then on something I was fairly certain was not vegan, then on something I was fairly certain wasn't kosher. I researched it and found out about it being a trademarked Kosher certification that was causing issues for people trying to eat Kosher, people trying to eat vegan, and people trying to eat both. I think vegan companies should stick with the vegan heart certified vegan logo or a universal vegan certification. This circle V- and so many different symbols - is confusing (and possibly not quite legal).
So I've been mostly plant based for the last couple of years, but after finding your channel, and falling down the rabbit hole, I can confidently say that I am fully vegan now! Thanks for all the info. 😊
Being malnourished (Vegan) is always going to make a person weaker than they would be if they had proper nutrition, so the statement that "vegans are weak" is factual.
If anyone starts to question why I'm a vegan I say "It's good for my health. It's good for the animals. It's good for the environment."... those are the three pillars, and I have some general facts of each which are hard to dispute - 91% of the rain forests cut down is for animal agriculture, our oceans will be empty of fish by 2042 if we keep fishing like we do, etc. I also think leading the subject into how cow milk is produced and how a milk cow is treated can be eye opening to many... facts like them having life-span of 5 years instead of 20, being forcefully impregnated, male calfs being slaughtered, being separated from their mothers (causing suffering because of mother instinct), cow milk really being for a growing calf not a human, etc. It's effective because we tend to think of cow milk as something benign (I certainly did). And top it off by saying it's not even healthy for us. I do it in a way that doesn't accuse or attempt to convert anyone - just stating facts why I am a vegan.
Had a recent FB discussion, pretty much every single thing mentioned in this video came up, I was super civil and calm and reasonable, it made ZERO difference. I was told I'm being aggressive, pushy, hysterical... Not one omni even looked at any of the studies I linked or responded to any fallacies I pointed out.... Got inundated with "animal lovers" telling me they are proud meat-eaters and that I'm being extreme... Pick your battles folks, sometimes it's better to just shut up. I save these responses for the sincerely curious, otherwise it's like religion and politics- NOT up for discussion at the dinner table.
FB is the worst place to even hint about this subject or be verbally abused to a pulp. I once posted a news article about a vegan restaurant opening up and offered no additional comment above the post …and the page-long rants I got!! Holy crap, such hate! Never again.
You're right, Jamie. I had allowed the verbal abuse to push me out of the conversation and hide in fear but I had lost sight of the fact that animals can't speak for themselves. I will do better! Happy New Year. :) @Jamie Rivet
@@james64ibm so sorry for the misunderstanding, to me Thanksgiving means dead turkey day. So I decided to say vegan Thanksgiving without the dead birds! Have a wonderful day 💖
Mic, careful with using serum protein level as proof that vegans are not protein-deficient. Protein level on blood tests isn't meant to detect nutritional deficiency but rather more serious pathology and will only fall following long-term malnourishment. Just tell them about the position of all the dietetics associations, who are all in agreement - protein is *not* a nutrient of concern on a well-managed 100% plant-based diet!
Thanks for the feedback. Let’s explore this though because isn’t hypoalbuminemia a result of protein deficiency? This older study on dogs (sadly) seems to support that: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2135259/ In fact, they go as far as to say “Based on this relationship a formula is developed for estimating the degree of total tissue protein deficiency from the value of the serum albumin concentration alone.” I am open to being convinced not to use this but I honestly view it as a very powerful statement and I need a very compelling reason to stop using it.
Two problems I foresee: 1) Quoting studies is almost pointless. I've had reactions along the lines of "well, that's the kind of science YOU've been reading. Not what I've read." And then they'll quote some book like "Grain Brain", showing that other scientists believe in meat, paleo, keto, atkins, etc. Or they'll be skeptical of dietary science altogether and simply say that "one year they say this is good for ya, the next year they'll say it's bad for ya. These so-called experts don't know anything." 2) About the bodybuilders. Vegan-skeptics will simply question the veracity of those examples and say things like "I bet those vegan bodybuilders are totally pumped on steroids or some crazy supplements".
1. But you'll always find that the studies they use are funded by the animal abusing industries. They're never peer-reviewed. 2. Dairy contains over 65 different hormones, including steroid hormones. So every single non vegan who uses dairy producta and whey supplements and shakes cheat on their workout to begin with.
@@twila8442 That's a nice retort. The problem is always the cherry-picking of peer-reviewed papers. They can cherry pick the one paper that will tell you that butter is good for you, and at the same time accuse you of cherry picking papers that say that beef is bad. But most importantly, when you're dealing with people who have an emotional stake at eating steak (pun definitely intended), they'll always rationalize away anything, no matter how obvious is may be. How else could such a thing as the flat-earth movement last for more than even five minutes.?
@@twila8442 About the dairy. That's definitely a nice point to make. I've had someone quote some milk commercial to me, where they say something like "Soy milk: 10 different ingredients ... milk: just milk". Of course, the logical fallacy is lost on such people. The fact that you can give a simple name to something does not imply that it's a simple thing. By the same token I could say "Shit: just one ingredient" :)
I had no problem telling my mom and sister. My dad I had to fight with a little. I really wish I knew this when I told my grandparents they really tried to change my mind by saying I wouldn’t be able to play sports like softball anymore so that year when they went to my first game an I hit a home run I said “where do YOU get YOUR protein from.”
I kept getting the protein question, so I started lifting. Now I don't get the protein question, I get the protein accusation "You can't have muscle as a Vegan, you're clearly sneaking in some meat" smh 🤦♂️

Fauno D assuming that everybody that eats meat is a total asshole and likes to push their agenda on you. Every. Single. Person who eats meat. All of them. all of those people.
Pretty much, I mean there're a lot of open minded non vegans out there but the deeply brainwashed carnists are among the most unintelligent people I've come across on the internet, and that's saying something.
The argument I hear most is B12 deficiency, which I counter by asking them where they get THEIR B12 from, which they will always reply "meat and/or dairy", then I ask how every animal we consume produces their own B12 but humans are somehow incapable? This will stump then, and THEN I reveal to them that B12 actually comes from consuming dirt and fecal matter from poor water supplies and that farmed animals are heavily supplemented with B12 in their feed so therefore just act as a middle man for the supplent, so we're both getting our B12 from supplentation just mine doesn't involve death. And they usually don't have an answer to that part.
Perhaps recheck your sources since b12 from dirt is not a thing. Cows obtain vitamin B12 from their diet, specifically from microorganisms that live in their rumen, which is a large fermentation chamber in their digestive system. These microorganisms produce vitamin B12 as a byproduct of their metabolism, which is then absorbed into the cow's bloodstream and stored in their liver. This means that cows can provide a natural dietary source of vitamin B12 for humans who consume their meat or dairy products. No hate brother, just hoping this myth of b12 from dirt dies soon
When someone mentions something to the effect of "Well animals are dying anyway from agriculture" or "Cars kill animals so you shouldn't drive", etc, I always respond with a quote attributed to Voltaire: "Perfect is the enemy of good".
Desert Island: In the hypothetical case, do you normally go through red lights? What if you were at a red light, but had someone in the back having a heart attack. Would you run the red light to make it to the hospital? Extremely circumstances don’t dictate how you behave in common circumstances.
"What about on a deserted island?" Well judging by the history of people being stranded, many have resorted to cannibalism, so what people do in the most extreme situations shouldn't be the rule, after all, it's when you eat humans and animals in a cruelty free food dense situation that it's strange
No one says anything when they find out about me being vegan. I'm a pretty big guy and in great shape so I like to think people can clearly see I'm doing something right and definitely not lacking protein etc. haha That and I'm friendly and confident about exchanging dietary information and discussing nutrition so people are always inclined to take it on board and ask questions rather than argue or mock. It's important to note that I went plant based for personal health rather than for ethical reasons which [unfortunately] adds credibility to the discussion as I can actually back up my reasons with facts rather than relying on emotional arguments. The ethical and environmental impacts for me are just a HUGE bonus that comes with it so I know I'm making the right choice on multiple levels. I feel this is the way to go about it as no one will take you seriously if you go into a conversation saying you're doing it for the animals etc. as you just get labelled a crazy activist straight off the bat and this causes conflict between the movement and the rest of society. I strongly suggest all conversations about being vegan MUST start with the health benefits to gain interest and by pointing out the dangers of many animal products, before going into further detail about the ethical and environmental benefits that follow as a consequence!
I'm at a point of frustration I don't know how to resolve... I can't get anyone to understand that I don't WANT meat, it is disgusting and has zero appeal to me, so they can't understand that them trying to convince me to eat meat is like trying to convince someone who hates olives to eat olives every day just because someone else likes olives and thinks everyone is supposed to. I'm not "resisting temptation" by not eating animals, I absolutely do not WANT it. But people can't grasp that concept and think giving me grief will eventually wear me down and make me "cave" and return to eating animals... I don't know how to get these people to understand...
Perfect timing! Thanksgiving dinner is in about 30 minutes! My dad's favorite thing to say is "studies show that the only people who live longer than people who eat NO meat are people who eat a little meat." Ummmm... K.... *eye roll*
My mum says this too (in a caring manner). I would rather live til 95 instead of 97 if it means killing less animals. We just gotta do what we feel is right.

But when met with someone who just expresses curiosity about it I do answer their questions honestly. And I find it pretty fun sometimes. Most asked ones include: But wait.. Is fish meat? Do you feel different? ; Does this mean you also avoid perfumes and chemical shampoo? (it´s amazing to me that some people who are completely not worried about things would make this connection because yeah I do avoid many products like that and before going plant based it didn´t even occur to me that there would be cruelty and toxicity involved in so many products)

Hmm that's kind of a stupid answer. Saying a rhetorical question won't do anything. I'll just tell them that soy has plant estrogens which don't affect animal estrogen levels. Milk has animal estrogen which actually does have an effect on human estrogen levels. But even IF soy did contain animal estrogen, it still wouldn't affect a man's masculinity since testosterone is so overpowering and a heightened level of estrogen won't affect you pretty much at all. That's why for example trans women in addition to taking estrogen, have to block their testosterone for the hormone treatment to actually have an effect. (also someone please correct me if I'm wrong lol)
When people push me about not eating meat, I ask them if they would consider eating dog meat, or monkey brains. Hey, it's all meat, right? When they invariably say something like "Ewe, that's disgusting!" I then ask how they decide what is ok to eat, and what is not ok, and why. They usually change the topic quickly, but if I'm lucky it might make them think a bit too.
People I talk to are more battle hardened and give me responses about socially and culturally accepted norms, which doesn't make much sense to me but apparently to them it does. And some just say that yeah they'd eat that heh.

@@stupidboy1746 I guess it's because "meat eating" is often culturalized as macho or masculine. Most men would rather continue to conform to that part of their culture (because it is easier and without scrutiny) than to break off and re-assess their moral system in regards to animals.
I laughed so hard and genuinely appreciated this video. Thanks again, Mic, for raising awareness and providing a clever way to engage viewers all the time.
I went vegetarian at age 15 approx, because i saw videos from slaughterhouses, at 20 i became vegan, now i am 30 and never regret anything, i have 2 great kids, but they occasionally eat dairy or eggs, because the father is vegetarian and i respect his views too
My response is that there is this China study which is an extremely large study of humans shows that we are getting too much protein and the optimal amount is 8 to 10% of our calories instead of the 11 to 25% that seems to be common in the Western diet.... And so most days I eat like a gorilla getting most of my food from fruits and leaves..... The gorilla is about 30 times stronger than the average man and shares most of our DNA and he seems to be getting his protein just fine.... And boy do I have good poops do you have good poops?
The difference is gorillas can digest cellulose and you can't, if you actually ate a gorillas diet you would die just like if you ate a cows diet you would die.
I generally avoid the moral arguments because these have largely been rationalized away. I do though refer to hunting as "killing for fun". And I never push beyond that.
You so sassy, Mic. I prefer to avoid these situations now. As you said, neither one of the parties will be happy with the discussion. I just try and focus on being a good example, which is another way of planting seeds.

But you can say it about the milk from cows or the cheese from milk or the eggs from chickens or the honey from bees etc
sure but they kill these animals early because they start not providing as many eggs or milk.

Wow! 30 years vegan. I’m very impressed! I’m just starting on my vegan life, only 6 months but I really enjoy it!!
I’m a non-vegan kid. I’m becoming a vegan kid too, and so is my future child.
You kinda forgot 7. What madee you think they choose meat? Don’t force them to eat meat untill they are 18. So they are old enough to choose for themselfs
@@Mascha_Eleonora Yeah, people decide to become serial killers, rapists, racists every single day. Doesn't mean it's ethically right.
you are forcing your beliefs on them by consciously making them eat animal products, and not giving them the opportunity to become properly educated on what it takes to get food into their plate.

@@james64ibm so sorry for the misunderstanding, to me Thanksgiving means dead turkey day. So I decided to say vegan Thanksgiving without the dead birds! Have a wonderful day 💖
james64ibm There is a heavy implication of slaughtering turkeys because of tradition.
Its late but happy vegan day 4 u Jenna, take care.
Yeah :) Either way, it's super easy to get enough protein as a vegan. Slowly transitioned to a vegan diet as a bodybuilder and had no drawbacks.
@@Food5Thought Excellent.
Thanks for the feedback. Let’s explore this though because isn’t hypoalbuminemia a result of protein deficiency? This older study on dogs (sadly) seems to support that: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2135259/
In fact, they go as far as to say “Based on this relationship a formula is developed for estimating the degree of total tissue protein deficiency from the value of the serum albumin concentration alone.”
I am open to being convinced not to use this but I honestly view it as a very powerful statement and I need a very compelling reason to stop using it.
You can always refer to the grams of protein you get on Cronometer, as well - should be above the DRI!
@@Divya736 Great point!
These so-called experts don't know anything."
2) About the bodybuilders. Vegan-skeptics will simply question the veracity of those examples and say things like "I bet those vegan bodybuilders are totally pumped on steroids or some crazy supplements".
I know what you mean... I have a friend that swears all the vegan dr s are cheating on their diets.
It’s funny how people come up with all the excuses to mistreat animals and use them, but they completely forget how society over hype dogs and treat them like kids
Perfect timing! I'm meeting most of my boyfriend's family this weekend!
My advice, don't be confrontational about dinner. This is where people get really annoyed with vegans.
@@jeffk464 I try to never even mentioning it, except to the person cooking beforehand. It only comes up if people ask, I try to be friendly and informative and not judgemental. But some people just want to push your buttons.
"Tradition, tho."
Response: Tradition is just circular logic. In other words, not actual logic:
"We've always done this, therefore we have to keep doing it. Because we've always done it."
Traditions can start because of mistakes. People have been known to make mistakes.
Traditions can become problems due to changed circumstance. Circumstances have been known to change.
Traditions may have been adaptations. What's the next adaptation that needs to happen?
Really good video! It helps a lot because sometimes you have the knowledge but struggle to put it into words 👍
Great video Mic. Erik Marcus (founder of vegan.com) has a great quote which goes something like: "As a vegan you'll influence a lot of people. Unfortunately you can't choose who those people will be." Remembering that gets me through some tough moments.
You made me laugh out loud with the comebacks
why so many girls a vegan and not boys ??
@@stupidboy1746 Maybe because many females have a caring, mothering instinct. And vegan men have a strong instinct to protect the weak and innocent.
You're the best, Mic. I'm thankful that we have people like you to help show us how awesome Veganism is. Also, I love that long white strand hanging off your beard after you had that Einstein wig on. Keep up the great work!
For any carnists here, we have to go through these complex social scripts because you fail to understand simple concepts due to your indoctrination in our society.
Fauno D assuming that everybody that eats meat is a total asshole and likes to push their agenda on you. Every. Single. Person who eats meat. All of them. all of those people.
No I don't give a shit what the fuck you eat but quit shoving vegan shit in people's faces
Pretty much, I mean there're a lot of open minded non vegans out there but the deeply brainwashed carnists are among the most unintelligent people I've come across on the internet, and that's saying something.
Maybe there's a connection...
The same can be said to you.
Your response to the "plants feel pain" question is perfect!
Your acting is too on point lol 💁🏻
Thanks for the refresher Mic. To prep us for tonight. Happy Thanksgiving!
JUST IN TIME!
You're amazing! I love hearing you speak about various issues, how to navigate around omni people and all the nutritional information!
Just in time for thanksliving
Deserted on a dessert island. Mmmm dessert.
"What about on a deserted island?"
Well judging by the history of people being stranded, many have resorted to cannibalism, so what people do in the most extreme situations shouldn't be the rule, after all, it's when you eat humans and animals in a cruelty free food dense situation that it's strange
No one says anything when they find out about me being vegan. I'm a pretty big guy and in great shape so I like to think people can clearly see I'm doing something right and definitely not lacking protein etc. haha
That and I'm friendly and confident about exchanging dietary information and discussing nutrition so people are always inclined to take it on board and ask questions rather than argue or mock.
His comment isn't even scientifically true :S
Mic, you're so funny! I love the "Wait, I've got a really original one for this vegan here." So true, they think this and all other questions are original... Smh.
Brilliant. It's about being better. Happy holidays!
I used to be that person who started explaining why and how every time someone made a comment or asked a stupid question about plant based eating, nowadays though I mostly say "I do it because this is what I want to do and makes most sense to me" and nobody can really argue with it, they shrug. But when met with someone who just expresses curiosity about it I do answer their questions honestly. And I find it pretty fun sometimes. Most asked ones include: But wait.. Is fish meat? Do you feel different? ; Does this mean you also avoid perfumes and chemical shampoo? (it´s amazing to me that some people who are completely not worried about things would make this connection because yeah I do avoid many products like that and before going plant based it didn´t even occur to me that there would be cruelty and toxicity involved in so many products)
thanks for doing such good work

In my department at work, I have two male coworkers and 3 female coworkers. One of the guys decided to arm wrestle this girl and lost so then he challenged me (ego bruised and CERTAIN he could easily take the feeble, malnourished vegan) aaaand lost again. He was so distraught that he challenged me to a rematch next Monday, which he also promptly lost again. -_____-

When they ask "where do you get your protein?", I ask them "where do you get your fiber?"
This one doesn't work for omnivorous.
Lmao. You vegans think that people who aren't vegan are aggressive meat eaters who only eat meat and not vegetables 😂 Like the guy above me said, this doesn't work for omnivores (humans)

Mic, your sense of humor makes veganism quite entertaining. Well done.

, I am still searching for People for the Ethical Treatment of Carrots, Last Chance for Broccoli or Apples Deserve Absolute Protection Today and Tomorrow. People for the Ethical Treatment of Carrots doesn't exist because everyone knows the difference between taking a carrot out of the ground and slicing a pig into pieces. Everyone also knows the difference between mowing a lawn and tossing a live baby male chick (egg industry) into a rendering machine. If one does not understand the difference, then that person is disingenuous, irrational and illogical. The fact that some people compare carrots to cows proves how muck-deep in oppressive thought meat, dairy and egg-eaters truly are.
Statement: "Soy has too much estrogen. It'll turn you into a soyboy."
Comeback: "How can a bean contain more estrogen than the dead carcasses and by-products of female animals? And you don't need to eat soy to be vegan."
E A T G R *A S S*
It dosen't effects their levels -_-
When people push me about not eating meat, I ask them if they would consider eating dog meat, or monkey brains.
Just say this,
“When you are someone’s devil, there will be a devil for you.”
And don’t argue or debate with them.

I guess it's because "meat eating" is often culturalized as macho or masculine. Most men would rather continue to conform to that part of their culture (because it is easier and without scrutiny) than to break off and re-assess their moral system in regards to animals.

My response is that there is this China study which is an extremely large study of humans shows that we are getting too much protein and the optimal amount is 8 to 10% of our calories instead of the 11 to 25% that seems to be common in the Western diet....
