@@murk4552 ok I’ll kill the messenger instead like Jon and yourself
Thank you, Jon. The damn media has to keep playing this up and repeating it EVERY 20 MINUTES, because the average person in this country only has a 30 second attention span.
For context with the coffee thing, the old woman was in a parked car and spilled the outrageously hot coffee on herself and had to get skin grafts to repair the damage. She initially only wanted enough to cover medical costs, but her lawyers presumably talked her into setting McDonald's as an example for the consequences of poor business practices, and she received the sum Jon mentioned.
McDonald's then started a smear campaign to make the initial lawsuit sound frivolous, and it worked to the point where most people think she spilled coffee on herself just to get money, which is patently untrue
Good point, but I would rather get a skin graft (or two) than what Stormy did with... so gross can't even type the rest, lol.
I can't speak to their campaign but I can say with certainty that the law suit was out of hand.
Humongous note, the coffee is the same temperature as a coffee you get today at Starbucks. If you dump it on yourself, are you going to sue Starbucks or call yourself a dumbass?
@@seantimmons5900 I won't speak for her on why she wanted to sue McDonald's to help pay for her medical expenses. She could have been in a tough spot financially, who knows.
But she admitted that it was *her* fault for spilling coffee on herself. The goal of her lawyers was not to shift blame in that respect, it was to hold McDonald's accountable for the dangerous temperatures of their coffee. And she was not the only one to have been burned by McDonald's coffee before that, which added further validity to their case.
As for the Starbucks thing, I don't see why another business doing the same thing makes it any better

I’m extremely disappointed in the media coverage.
Jon Stewart is right saying that the media made a mountain out of a legal mole hill. It's not going to be riveting watching but they are crimes Trump has been charged with. The DA seems fairly confident he has a good case and considering there has already been someone that has done time for these same crimes I think their confidence is justified.

CNN is Maga. They platform extremists all day and bash Progressives. MSNBC is equally Maga. All their anchors are GOPuppets
The media told the truth, that this case is a joke. Alvin Bragg loves rapists and murderers. He works tirelessly to get them back on the streets of New York to harm more people. But when it comes to Trump, he goes hard. Lmao

LOL so you you think all the expert legal analysts around the country don’t know what they are talking about….but tv host Jon Stewart does? Ok…. There is a very good reason why these charges are awful. Also expect Bragg to be forced to quit soon. States are not supposed to go after high level politicians like this. In the past they would always defer to the feds. But Bragg just set the NEW precedent. Which means the red states where the Bidens committed their crimes can now prosecute them. And they have informed the media they are in the process of collecting the evidence necessary (there is aaaa lot)to do exactly that. The Dems no longer can depend on their protection from the Feds. If they don’t make an example out of Bragg they are gone go to state prison for ACTUAL crimes. Not the bogus style bs they are charging Trump with

That woman who got coffee on herself needed skin grafts and originally only wanted $$ for the hospital bill (30,000) it was only after McDonald's refused to pay that she sued( they also had a history of ignoring complaints that their coffee was scalding hot, way hotter than normal coffee)
Thanks for helping spread word of this! Everyone needs to know it.

@@duetin1470 in case you're not joking... No, it's not _that_ hot. McDonald's were not supposed to be serving it dangerously hot and were ignoring people getting injured from it. Please look into it. People need to know so we can combat this myth.

@@duetin1470ahem. Like the lawyer said, how many people needed to be paid off in settlements before you do something(to reduce/mitigate this harm )?
That's like you know, saying who knows cars can be dangerous. Yeah. We know. That's why you have seat belts, ABS and etc now.
And that's what MacDonald failed to do. Instead, the judge was told MacDonald decided that simply paying thousands of victims routinely was easier than making two design changes the lawsuit forced them to make (which amounted to less than 1 cent per coffee sold ).
Turns out 1 cent was enough to prevent McDonald from trying to help prevent 3rd-4th degree burns from routinely happening.

Can’t believe I’ve just found Jon Stewart! 🇦🇺 Gives me hope for you Yanks yet, what an intelligent, funny and to the point dude!!! 🥰👍🏽
Spot on.
In case Jon is referring to the McDonald's coffee case, that was way more significant than comedians made it out to be. Everyone should look up the details, the media really didn't report them correctly at the time.
The skin on her genitalia melted, and McDonalds turned down her meager request to only pay for medical bills. The high punitive damages were because they were warned their coffee was near boiling and they refused to decrease the temperature.
Yeah, is horrible how corporations succeeded in creating and spreading such a myth to slander people like her and warp history... embedding such a malicious seed into everyone's minds.
All she initially wanted was McDonalds to pay for her medical bills after serving her boiling coffee which they knew was a hazard because they had hundreds of other cases, and they didn't care. They blew her off, and then she went to court. Also she wasn't driving she was sitting in the passenger seat and was handed the boiling liquid with the lid on improperly. She had 3rd degree burns and needed skin grafts.
Yeah woman got 3rd degree burns and eventually died from complications from it.
Literally the worst example to use of a "frivolous lawsuit."

I miss when the news was actually about news and not about ratings and ad sponsorship.
For perspective on the news I watched live news from 4 stations a few days ago when the arrest was taking place.
The first: MSNBC was reporting on neo-Nazis hoisting swastika flags threatening members of the LGTBQ community in California . (Allegedly showing the LGTBQ community under attack from far right conservatives)
The second: Fox was reporting on drag shows in Tennessee and how they were exposing children to perverted and confusing themes of sexuality to children. (This was the far left was trying to allegedly indoctrinate children into their LGTBQ ideology)
The third: CNN was reporting on the Trump arrest and how he would respond (an albeit less partisan broadcast than the previous two)
The fourth: DW (Deutsche Welle), a German news station, was reporting on something completely outside of U.S. politics like the science behind building a sustainable renewable energy grid (focusing more on facts, less on politics)
The point being domestic news stations have come to create fear mongering amongst their loyal viewers by airing confirmation biases which reaffirm their positions. The left uses examples like January 6th, the attack on Nancy Pelosi’s husband, book bans in Florida to villanize the right, the right uses examples like vaccine mandates, threats of higher taxes, crime in high density areas and anti-LGTBQ rhetoric to villanize the left.
Vote for us or more of ______ will happen! Is it shocking mass shootings are up, and should we ask ourselves where these people are gathering these feelings of hatred/victimhood? The world isn’t getting worse the news just doesn’t report on the good as much as the bad, in fact this phenomenon has been recorded and the tone/rhetoric of news reporting has gotten more negative over the last 30 or so years even with the quality of life increasing. So again is it a shock we are experiencing a ‘mental health crisis’ and is media contributing to it? I would venture to say absolutely

That "spill coffee on yourself" story was way worse than people believe. Firstly, McDonald's PR campaign strategy was to manufacture discontent among the population, that is to say, the reason why people think that's a "ridiculous sue story" is because that's what McDonald's wanted people to think. Secondly, the lady suffered 3rd degree burns on her genitalia and thighs requiring skin graft surgery, it was not just hot coffee, it was extremely hot enough to do permanent significant damage. Lastly, she was only looking to recover her medical losses; she was rewarded more than she was asking for.
Tl;dr it's actually corporate strategy to push the narrative that there's some epidemic of "bullshit court cases" when the overwhelming majority of the time, it's very much the opposite case where big business get the results they want at the expense of others.
Yeah! I really hope that we can get this horrible cancerous corporate myth excised from everyone's collective consciousness because the truth is so important and every time it comes up the lie does more harm and grows stronger. :(
Right, most people dont have the money or capability to file a lawsuit against giant corpo. They usually have lawyers find them because they have an actual case. Not to say theres not bs cases, but they’re usually not targeting places with great legal team.
The problem is that insurance companies pushed this trope and were all for conflating personal injury plaintiffs' attorneys that generally fight to make sure that the guy who gets their hand crushed in a bus door by an inattentive bus operator or a plaintiff suing a apt. complex for a robbery after the building stops fixing a security door with large corporate insurance companies defending the Metro or the investor landlords. Not close to true. Stewart is stealth right wing BS. Trump is a right wing fascist. Stewart ignores that and instead cherry picks items from cable news to trivialize the media. The fascists want the media to be trivialized.
Amazing man right here.
Nothing says you're innocent like threatening a judge and his family.
Yep, just like the THUG he is!
Nothing says you have 81 million legitimate voters like locking up your leading opponent.
And it’s literally been a day.
No one threatened the judge or his family
Lies
I had to watch that twice cause that rant was fire! 🔥
SAME. And I'll probably watch it again later.
Long long time ago news used to be boring.
People telling you facts, giving you context.
Not a damn show where they want to keep you excited every single minute. That's a show, not the news.
18th of April 1930. The BBC opened the news saying 'There is no news today' and put classical music.
That's integrity.
Jon Stewart says it spot on. He is fantastic! Agree with every word!
All I can say is thank God Jon Stewart is back.
Absolutely. Because the world needs more clowns. Just having MSNBC and CNN blabbing 24/7 isn't quite enough clowning.
"It's the recipe. It's not the game" Great way to explain it. Thanks Jon.
@@Eelis0 The case has already succeeded - in indicting a former president for a felony, which it seemed might never happen. The outcome of this case is of less importance than the other cases which are about to be brought against DT, for which he will now also be indicted. This case broke the ice. The following cases will open a large hole for him to fall through.
Jon is a national treasure, protect this man at all costs.
What does that mean?
I know right. If Jon keeps up this level of sanity, the MAGA cult will certainly try to break into his home. Zip ties in one hand, and a hammer in the other hand.
Are you really that big of a loon?
@@mr.harmon6907 its a dumb thing that people with no opinions say to get likes on social media platforms.

Haha.. good stuff. Oh hey John!... I noticed there is an opening I think you would be PERFECT for... it's a very popular show called The Daily Show! You should send in your deets! :P
You go, Jon! Your calling people out is epic...and so damn smart and Hilarious! The Daily Show has an open spot...
REAL talk! Jon is the master at seeing beyond the obvious.
The MSM is too busy trying to shape the narrative instead of just reporting it.
Too true.
So true !
The "coma or no coma" part!! 😂😂
Every time I hear the talking heads say that this crime was just a BS charge, I have to laugh because it’s still a crime
At best, it's a misdemeanor, not a felony. John Edwards was accused of virtually the same "Crime" and a jury acquitted him, because that prosecutor had the same problem this prosecuted is going to have, proving intent, specifically for political gain.
Perhaps I missed it but I didn't hear anyone in those clips (or the larger news discussions they are from) calling the charges "BS" or anything close to that.
@@Vanderearden 34 Class E felonies, in the first degree. Just to be accurate.
Its a BS charge because they upgraded a misdemeanor charge to a felony so that the statue of limitations doesnt apply. They also are trying to make a federal crime into a state crime. The federal government decided not to go after him because they had no case. The other issue is that paying people to shut up is not a crime, especially when you are rich and have the money to do it. They want to claim its campaign financing crime, but Trumps a billionaire so he doesnt need campaign funds for this. On top of that you have a DA that has downgraded a ton of serious violent felonies to misdemeanors but instead is doing the opposite here. Lastly, its BS because its politically motivated and not about the "law".
And you are still gay 😂
For fook sake Jon. Just be our President already
Love you John
