@@eliakimbenishchayil There's tens or maybe hundreds of thousands of people buying the stock and the price was being pushed artificially low by the hedge funds shorting it. Regular investors bought stocks for a few dollars and by the time they were done they had purchased so much that it drove the stock price up.

But IMO, the price action of GME is completely separated from the fundamentals of stock trading. Its movement is ridiculous and has been for a year now. We see occasional run-ups and then dips back down to below $100 with low volume on the day, which makes no sense if you subscribe to how the stock market is traditionally discussed (high volume of buys/sells = price swings, but isn't true in GME's case, because we see large swings with very little movement; this, to me, strengthens the argument that there's some weird shit going down).
I have a few shares here and there just for security purposes. I made some money on the first run-up back in Jan '21 and then bough the dips a few times since then to hold. When this thing blows, $100/share will be a bargain. As always, only spend what you can afford to lose.

Now, about inequality (in relation to stock ownership) has increased because of the asymmetric information distribution. The Stock Exchange does not create wealth - it just transfers from one investor to another and the investor with more information will win more often (I'm talking legal information and not insider trading). Stocks are a way for people who want to create companies that create wealth to get the money they need. Once the stock exchange became a game it stopped fulfilling it's purpose and became a important cause of the deindustrialization process in several western developed countries. If I'm not buying a stock because I want the dividends that regularly I earn from it but because I want to sell when their price is high, then I'm ok with things that will kill the company that issues the stock as long as I can sell when it's high.
There's a country in the middle of Europe where less than 50% of it's industry is open capital (traded in the stock exchanged): Germany. Some German companies, like Carl Zeiss, have stocks but they are all in the hands of the Carl Zeiss Foundation and are not traded. Stock prices drive CEOs to see into the future as far as groundhogs see in front of their noses.

I never fully understood it but I assumed then (90s) the stock market was a huge ponzi/gambling/dark money scheme when we came up with the monte carlo calculation where no one could definitively calculate the results. For added humor, they gave it a dice icon. That is exactly how it felt, someone said "show me the money" and click the icon (throw the dice) and it gave you some BS number.

Actually, to me, it's one of the Great Signs of his utter failure. His & American society's. You guys are quite the collection of infantile cowards, aint'cha?
He's begging congress to stop blocking heroic first responders from getting needed medical aid. Why? We _have laws_ that make it illegal for members of congress to 1) interfere in business one way or another, & 2) it's _ALSO_ 100% illegal for them to use their public office for personal gain, as the articles of impeachment against Trump made very clear.
Politicians are Private Citizens. Wtf does Mitch McConnell _do_ exactly that you're so afraid of removing his playing piece out of fear the whole structure of government will come crashing down?
The answer is that only your infantile idealism of politicians will suffer.
That's it. That's entirely it. You all would much rather gladly sacrifice your *Own Children* to a fantasy; To _retain_ a fantasy that retaining it doesn't make real.
Capitalism isn't the end result of laws of physics or nature. But acknowledging this would again force people to recognize that again, their beloved Daddy-Protectors are failing them. So, Mitch has to act immorally because capitalism is holding a gun to his head.
Even by infant's standards, this is pathetic. The main difference between you cowardly adults & actual infants is this: infants _can't sustain lying to themselves this way._ It harms their psyche. & you all _KNOW_ this!
But just as a drunk's only priority is their drink, a coward's one is making up excuses as to why they can't take action. You didn't even ask to see where the missing 16 trillion disappeared from, didn't lift a finger to help the First Responders, never questioned anything that might lead to you having to deal with one iota of adult-level responsibility.
"♪ It's The American Waaaayyy... ♫" Now go bomb some innocent Brown children overseas because you feel blameless when you accept commands.

They are taking advantage of you.

    • @Pinkie007
      @Pinkie007 2 года назад +2

You know 80-90% of people (or whatever the number is) that lose money in the stock market don’t lose money because the stock market is rigged.
They lose money because they make incredibly stupid moves in the stock market.
They lose money because they buy GameStop stock at all time highs because it’s going up and they want in on the action despite the lack of fundamentals to justify such a price increase.
They lose money because most of them day trade. An investing strategy which will put you directly up against quants like Jim Simons who have better and faster equipment than you, and are smarter than you. Yet most people are attracted to this style of “investing” despite the odds being stacked against you.
Can the stock market be rigged sometimes? Well kinda but not really. Nancy Pelosi is a good example of a “rigged” stock market.
Do people lose money because the stock market is rigged against them? No.
Do the top 10% of people hold 80-90% of the stock market because it’s rigged against the bottom 90%? No.
The stock market isn’t an example of inequality. The stock market isn’t a tool to transfer wealth from the poor to the wealthy. The stock market is just that, a market, just like any other market.
There will be winners and there will be losers but in the end, the majority of people benefit.
A small minority will get almost everything and that’s just how it is and how it always has been and always will be as per the Pareto distribution.
People will keep losing money in the stock market as long as people make stupid decisions.
The stock market isn’t what’s rigged. What’s rigged are the games that they play in the stock market. You wanna make money in the stock market?
Don’t day trade, and you won’t lose to quants.
Don’t ape into meme or overhyped stocks and you won’t lose to hedge funds.
Don’t buy into overpriced assets and you won’t lose to your own stupidity.
Don’t leverage to the tits and you won’t lose to banks.
Don’t use RobinHood and you won’t be caught in the crossfire when their market maker gets squeezed into a position forcing them to take action to save their own asses at your own expense.
Don’t play their games and you’ll do just fine.
All that being said, Nancy Pelosi is still an insider trading criminal b*tch and needs to be fired and lawmakers can’t be allowed to trade.
“Oh but it’s a free market”
Stfu Nancy, there are people in positions granting them with less information than you that you forbid from participating in the stock market because they’d be insider trading. You can’t have your cake and eat it too. Pick a lane. B*tch.
