Border View Farms is a mid-sized family farm that sits on the Ohio-Michigan border. My name is Nathan. I make and edit all of the videos posted here. I farm with my dad, Mark and uncle, Phil. Our part-time employee, Brock, also helps with the filming. 1980 was our first year in Waldron where our main farm is now. Since then we have grown the operation from just a couple hundred acres to over 3,000. Watch my 500th video for a history of our farm I filmed with my dad.
I started making these videos in the fall of 2019 as a way to help show what I do on a daily basis as a farmer. Agriculture is different from any other industry and I believe the more people that are showing their small piece of agriculture, helps to build our story. We face unique challenges and stressful situations but have some of the most rewarding payoffs in the end. I get to spend everyday doing what I love, raising my kids on the farm, and trying to push our farm to be better every year. I hope that I can address questions or concerns that you might have about farms and agriculture.
I hope you enjoy my content and ask questions as you have them. I do my best to answer anything I can. Thanks for watching!

Good Morning
Good work taking Brock to lunch.
Crops are looking good Nathan, take care🇺🇸💪🏻🇺🇸
When we were working in Iowa, one afternoon after work my wife Sandi drove us out into an area where someone's corn was about as big as yours is in the iragared field, and stoped and shut the car off. Our car is a T too and we had those off. She tried to convince me she could see the corn growing. She was teasing me, of course but she almost convinced me :-)
I like the new T-shirt design and that’s why I bought two of them
You corn looks beautiful. Our corn finally emerged after 3 weeks of cold wet rain. NC ND. Is a swamp.
Corn looks nice and even. It’s growing nice. Hopefully you get the weather to bring g a big yielding crop this fall. Fingers crossed
It's mindblowing if you think about that the plant sucks nutrients out of that tiny seed for so long. Just wow. I'm flabbergasted.
High temperature silver solder will fix the stainless steel tube.
What’s is your tips to grow the best corn?)
I ordered my shirt.
Good morning
What makes you sure that there is no (negative,?) interaction when you mix all that chemistry?
I should jar test it but I know these products and read the labels so I was pretty confident they would mix. There are some you have to be careful with.
I was following a JD sprayer on a main road and I wondered if a small car could drive underneath it to get by? I was in a low enough car (Mustang) but thought it might be too wide. Just a strange idea. The sprayer was zipping along at about 32 mph.
You're not the only one to have that thought but it's not worth the risk
Are you gonna do another orange corn plant this year??
I think you were eluding to it but are there chemicals you have to avoid mixing in the sprayer because they’ll react with each other?
Yes you can end up with jello in the tank if you're not careful.
Will you use your new well for tank water on the sprayer?
Some of the corn here is shoulder high
Wish you would have ran tank cleaner in the planter.
Might help save start up problems.
Can your new well supply more then one irrigation unit? If you want to irrigate more fields do you need to drill multiple wells?
If you could draw water from the river it would be nice
Hey, I have seen almost every video you have done first time I have made a comment. I have been really wanting to try V5 fungicide and foliar feed on some corn my chem supplier tells me to wait so I can get better coverage on the plant. Just curious if you worry about that at all or not? Thanks! I have learned a lot from your channel!
Yeah that's a valid point. I've wait to V6-7 in the past and still seen good results. I'm starting to push it earlier because I know how critical the V5 stage is with setting rows around on the ear.
Did you check the filter on the planter, did it have some chicken goodness in there
A little but ne as bad as I thought it would be.
So I know the subject of what’s next for new equipment but I really think a drone sprayer makes more sense than anything especially since you could have had all this spraying done already even with ground conditions being poor…
A hagie
@@rogerembry4777 a Hagie would be nice but one its very expensive and would still have the same limitations in terms of ground conditions also with the issues the bean planter feels like that has risen to the top of the list possibly so a new bean planter and a drone sprayer makes as much sense as anything…
At the new well where you are planning to use your generator, is that home owner going to be alright with the noise? And yes, I also brought an RX shirt!!!
Planning the the greenmark for this year. Possibly getting line power in the future
Can't you use a defoamer for the sprayer.
Yeah but I didn't think I would need it.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
doesn't the sprayer have autosteer
Fire Brock for not catching the crack in the stainless steel tube.
Good morning
