Border View Farms is a mid-sized family farm that sits on the Ohio-Michigan border. My name is Nathan. I make and edit all of the videos posted here. I farm with my dad, Mark and uncle, Phil. Our part-time employee, Brock, also helps with the filming. 1980 was our first year in Waldron where our main farm is now. Since then we have grown the operation from just a couple hundred acres to over 3,000. Watch my 500th video for a history of our farm I filmed with my dad.
I started making these videos in the fall of 2019 as a way to help show what I do on a daily basis as a farmer. Agriculture is different from any other industry and I believe the more people that are showing their small piece of agriculture, helps to build our story. We face unique challenges and stressful situations but have some of the most rewarding payoffs in the end. I get to spend everyday doing what I love, raising my kids on the farm, and trying to push our farm to be better every year. I hope that I can address questions or concerns that you might have about farms and agriculture.
I hope you enjoy my content and ask questions as you have them. I do my best to answer anything I can. Thanks for watching!
I appreciate you subscribing to my channel and liking my videos. You can also find me on Facebook borderviewfarms and on Instagram @borderviewfarms

Congratulations Brock , your a great guy very deserving of being hired full time.
Nathan and the fire department are very lucky to have you.
Oats and used oil go a long ways in keeping the spreader looking like new. Nice purchase for BVF .
Hello from California wonderful videos Border View Farms thank you
Glad to see a bit of rain. Have a great weekend and stay
Congratulations Brock I'm being hired full time great video Nathan thank you
Sharp looking spreader! I remember when things like fertilizer spreaders used to be cheap!
100% on big pull type spreaders. You’ll love it
Congratulations my friend
Congratulations Brock
Will miss you!
That spreader is awesome we love ours on the farm I work on. Very easy to use
You cant operate without (Border View Brock) Employee of the month, every month!!
Cool looking spreader, will be interesting to see the fert storage you go with
Congrats Brock, if its like most fire departments around here they just work like 2 24hr shifts a week so he should have plenty of time for farming too!
Here in Park Forest Illinois they're always training and other towns are coming in and training also
Cool video,I'm north of you and rain has never been an issue we've got more rain then you can shake a stick at yields are high here, currently getting 130 a bushel in this 3000 acre field. On a side note you should check out Mac Don's 61 foot header I'm knocking out the acres with this header anywho here's to a great harvest
Great video good to see y'all
We are west of you, Niles, Mi. Rained 1.6 in from the same said rain shower that stopped you. We are extremely dry with no sub soil moister.
Nice spreader, they make good products
Whoo Hoo!!! New toy I mean equipment tool. Let's get it dirty.
Most UK farms that work with solid ferts use bagged product using 600 or 1000kg bags and a telescopic loader to handle these and other products on farm.
If spreader dump height is a problem, look into a front dump bucket for your loader. We have one on our backhoe that we load our John Deere spreader with
Great purchase Nathan, should do BVF fine.
Good morning
Did you and Brock plan on matching?! 😂😂😂
Brock my local fire department is 48 on 96 off . I asked for a tanker driver job . 96 hours to go stay at the lake and fish would be perfect
Get your dad to make a video lol 😂
Why don't you combine at an angle to the rows? Gonna wear the cutter bar more by following the rows.
There is no choice for the headlands, but to follow the edge. If you look at the part of the video where Nathan talks with Brock, he is cutting at a slight angle to the rows.
Nice new spreader stainless should last longer, The beans your are harvesting are your double beans ?
No the double crop won't be ready till close to Thanksgiving
Looks like someone's gonna be busy spreading. We have a old lime belt we dump into to load fert in the field. Haven't done it for awhile. Ruins ur dump trailer belt etc. And I'd rather get tillage done timely and want the fert done before tillage. Not enough man power. Since weve stopped using anhydrous and went to uan we hardly ever have to lime
Where u able to work out a deal with Salford on lonein u a ripper 4 the channel. Lol 🤞😁
Losing a third of a bushel… but crarry says you need an air bar🤣
Exactly
So what's is the purpose of diffuser down the middle of the spreader? Will the 4020 be able to run the spreader
The inverted V inside the box? It helps prevent bridging of the material
What would be the difference in cost per acre, between your sprayer, plane, & drone? Not exact, just ball park,.
On my farm, hiring an airplane is $12/ac and a sprayer is $8/ac. Would guess a drone is around $10/ac.
With what tractor are you planning on pulling the spreader?
8335R
will it also spread the chicken poop
Can you spread chicken litter with the spreader
No its not a litter spreader
@@BorderViewFarms ok I wasn't sure if it was capable of spreading fert an litter, thanks for the reply, are you guys in the field yet today
@@derrickpettit86 not yet
Another 100,000 pissed away on something that you will use once a year. You farmers must really be milking the government.
In their case it's called being dam good managers and they are always on top of the game.
