i tried this recipe, instead of 3 cups of milk, i used 2 cups and 1/2 cup sugar. it took more than 1 hour to get thicken, maybe because i started on low heat to prevent from burning. now it is on airtight jar, i'll check in the morning and update my comment
Edited: after one night in fridge, it thickened and tastes amazing. Thank you very much for the recipe
thank you for the recipe, Jose. where i live currently, i couldn't find condensed milk, finally i can have condensed milk to my coffee
Should I start from a higher heat then decrease?
@@RadomPearson-g8t high heat may lead to burning, you can try medium heat or a bit higher than medium
What country do you live in? It’s available in North/South America and Asia.
You could've added regular milk and sugar to espresso. Water content is the same.
Thank you for giving the time that he didn't
Watch out Jose! Jose is stalking you!
That's my brother 😂
@@Jose.elCook Is he taking his medications? He looks scary.
@@Jose.elCook Hahaha good stuff! Fun little easter egg
I thought it was Michael Myers. 😂
That was creepy AF ngl lol
I make my own brown sugar. It is so much more cost effective than buying a 2 pound bag of brown sugar for almost $5. I can get a 4 lb bag of white sugar for $3, and a bottle of molasses for $5. A half cup to 3/4 cup of molasses to a 4 lb bag of white sugar mixed at the lowest speed in your Kitchen Aid mixer yields approximately 8-10 cups of brown sugar. The more molasses you put into the white sugar the darker your brown sugar. I always make light brown sugar. It’s a real money saver if you are a baker. It is stored in a glass jar with a tight fitting top. I also learned to make my own pancake mix that has dried milk powder in it. I also make my own pancake mix.
Do you make videos on how you do this too?? I've never heard you can make your own brown sugar!😮
Just one way to cut costs, I absolutely love it, well done 👏
Dear friend mind sharing where you get the glasses to store your stuff?
Mix 4 cups of sugar with 1/4 cups of cornstarch. Mix in small batches in your most aggressive blending device. Voila powdered sugar.
At least you know what is in it... I checked the back of my store bought can... and it has Palm Oil and other things... So doing it yourself... is worth every dime... God bless your day friend. Have the best life ever. Ann Foster, BooksbyAFoster
This. I've become intolerant to so many food additives that I have to make almost everything at home now. Everything is adulterated with cheaper ingredients now.
The Jose in the hallway was a great touch! 🤌
El stalker
It was a jumpscare to me
A bit scary!
Like I saw him, and got scared for you. I was like, "no, turn around."
Scariest recipe video I've ever seen and liked.
Sooo creepy! 😳😱🥛😂
So worth it, no preservatives and I can use non bleached processed sugar, like sucanat or pilloncillo! Thanks for the recipe. 🌸
Yes you can! Enjoy!
That slurp scared me. Cochino!
Thank you for mentioning these two sugars. I've never heard of them before.
It took 2 hours+ to make. Not worth it
@@blackbox5141you def did something extremely wrong lol. I made it two days ago and it took 40 min
1:12 after seeing that figure at the door, I feel like I have to make it now.
😂😂😂 he's friendly
I know! Scary😖
THANK YOU! My daughter is a baker. She’s lactose intolerant and we only consume organic ingredients. YOU HAVE SOLVED A HUGE ISSUE FOR HER! Thank you, Jose! You’re the best! ❤️
Whats weird is a looked up a recipe for this just 7 hours ago lol
But this is made with milk so she wouldn’t be able to have it unless she uses lactaid, right?
@@CheapsKate77 We buy organic raw milk from our neighbors and put lactase DROPS in it. After 30 minutes, the lactase enzymes consume the lactose and she’s good to go! We get the liquid lactase at that big A€#%0n store online. 👍🏼
@@Dalmoon98 We were just talking about this in our family, too!
@@CheapsKate77 she could make it with lactose free milk, or a non-dairy milk.
I came for the recipes, but I'm staying for this foo's humor
And I'm here to provide you value+entertainment 🔥 thank you!!!
I'm convinced that sweetened condensed milk is seriously in the top 10 best tasting things of all time list.
You just showed us how to make sweetened condensed milk... that may be a trifle cheaper than canned and tastes pretty close to canned... then "Hey, friends, if you need it and don't have the canned stuff? You can make it!
"But... don't think you HAVE to!"
Sweetie--- You have SO much common sense plus awesome cooking skills. I am loving your videos and your serious-cooking-with-fun attitude. I am hooked!
When stuck at home during a winter storm and you need some sweetened condensed milk... well here's a recipe. 🥛🥄 Thanks Jose! 👍
I didn't know it was so easy to make at home 🤩🤩
So so easy!!!
1:12 the background is f*cking scary my dude😅😅😅
so no ones going to mention you standing in the hallway watching yourself mix it? lol
if your buying from a store, eagle brand is the only way to go, love the video jose!
Love that one too!
Something about your videography is so satisfying to watch. Also the condensed milk looks bomb I’ll definitely make it!
WOOOOOOOOOOO this is super exciting!! I love putting sweetened condensed milk in my black tea!! now I can make this if I don't wanna leave the house!!
The bonus is it has no extra ingredients, you can make it organic, and no can lined with BPAs
Oh my god! I thought you had way more subscribers than this?! You’re so underrated!!
Aww thank you! Gathering all el cooks rn
half a mil is nothing to sniff at though 😮💨
Quality of quantity. And if everybody follows everybody then it doesn’t mean much
These last 6 months have gone well for him then 😂
Honestly I love the honesty with these cooking videos
11/10, came for the recipe, stayed for the sleep paralysis doppelgänger that I’ll probably be seeing when I go to bed tonight 👌
The thing about homemade stuff is the increased control. Organic condensed milk is hard to get here but organic milk's a bit easier to grab. If you're allergic to cow's milk, you can make condensed milk from sheep or goat milk. You just have so much more control.
Thank you so much! This really will help me out in a pinch!!
It's awesome!!
Wow, I didn't expect it to be that simple. Makes me want to try adding flavors in it like dehydrated fruits ground into a powder to make like strawberry condensed milk. I love this! I doubt I'll do it much, but it sounds like a tasty adventure.
I would rather anything homemade than store-bought. First of all, it has no ingredients that I don’t recognize or need inside my body. This is probably freeze well or you could Kennett in those jars. I love this recipe and I am definitely going to make it. Thank you.
Amazing! I can’t believe I just made condensed milk! To me it was worth to make it myself because my recipe only needed 1 tablespoon of condensed milk and I didn’t want to go to the store and spend $2.69 for a can. Thank you for the recipe! 😃
Here in venezuela canned condensed milk can be chaper than the equivalent sugar you need to buy. But it fluctuates, it also depends od the discrepancy between imported condensed milk and locally produced sugar
This was helpful and wonderfully entertaining. I loved the sweetended condensed Jose in the hallway! Thank you for sharing and for the clarity on the costs.
Thank You Jose you are phenomenal. Great easy recipe. Thank you again. Have an amazing weekend.🤗
Good way to use up old milk. 😅
Amazing way! Try it
Thanks for the honesty
I love these videos! Simple, sweet, and easy to follow, you're the best!
Even easier: you don't need to stir it over the stove or babysit the pan at all. Just use the measuring cup you measured the milk with and you can evaporate it/ reduce it in the microwave. No chance of burning, no stirring. If you figure out the timing you can even further standardize the process for true walk away convenience. This brings the cost of making this way down in terms of labor, and the only reason I can see for having sweetened condensed milk is for food storage reasons.
I'm lactose intolerant and plan to use this recipe to make dairy-free sweetened condensed milk for a pumpkin pie recipe. Thank you for the tutorial, Elcook!
Great stuff! Going to try this with some plant-based milk as I have a family history of Cancer so need to avoid the estrogen and possible BLV in dairy. Thanks for sharing
Makes total sense. Plant “milk” is the way, any sign of defect in your genome, go the agrarian way. Sugar is just as deadly, so I like to use aspartame. Gotta offset the corporate malady machine somehow.
01:12 umm Bro, I hate to say it but I think we are not alone😳
😂😂 just observing
Thank you for this recipe Jose. In my country this recipe cost me $2 to make at home, but it costs $7 at the store, so this saved me $5 and tastes exactly the same as the store bought stuff. So definitely worth it for me.
A thousand thicky points to Jose for being so sweet and condensed! 👏🥰
Fun fact sweetened condensed milk was first made for the military as a way for the military to get dairy without it going bad.
Thank you for this recipe. I used condensed milk alot especially in my coffee, bread, champorado rice.
Good idea, I couldn't make some recipes because I couldn't find sweetened condensed milk in the supermarket and wasn't sure how to replace it.
Thanks for the recipe 🙂.
What's also cool is to cook the milk with spices, like cinnamon vanilla and so on, and cook Christmas sweetened condensed milk.
I once bought a can at an Asia market that I thought was sweetened condensed milk, and it said sweetened milk on it, but instead of the normal one, there was a brown border around the logo.
It was Dulce de leche instead of sweetened condensed milk.
I then changed my plan and made something with caramel.
You summoned the bad Jose with your recipe! 😂
40 minutes later and I'm still stirring lmao
I use it with cacao powder, whole milk, yogurt & vanilla extract to make homemade frozen fudge pops. Yum.
Sir… I spit out my drink when I saw you condensed 😂😂😂 your humor is spot on 💯😂
I love your goofiness! But still very knowledgeable and talented!!
God bless you, Jose
How about storage? What I like about canned products is that they can stay for a long period of time in the shelf.
Making a huge amount without knowing if it will store for a long time may force me to use it everyday and it's not good for my health haha.
If you make it in large batches for large recipe it might end up saving a lot more money, or if you can get really good quality milk that would make it worth it. I've also seen it made with coconut milk as a dairy free alternative, which I've never seen in stores.
Ninja edit: I believe you can make it in a slow cooker if you don't want to babysit the recipe, especially in larger volumes
Now there's a good tip. I didn't try that but I also made a big batch. I would love to try it in my slow cooker. A slow cooker can burn it though. I would still check it regularly and sometimes turn it to warm to cool the cooker down. Thanks for the idea:)
I'm sick right now but this recipe makes me feel better, thank you so so much! >w
For someone allergic to unspecified "sugar" derived from hybridized beets crossed with a nightshade, I needed this because I want to make caramel, fudge, and candies! Thank you!
Thumbs up for +5 Thiccy Points
You are right, not necessary to make it, BUT, it's good to know how to make it. I love it on bread, any bread with a delicious cup of Cafe! Great on a toasted english muffin, the creamy milk gets into the little crannies
I really enjoyed watching this, you are kinda funny. And now I can make condensed milk at home
Jose you videos are a breath of frsh air. I enjoy them very much, nnot only you make eady to follow.....you add humor ( mexican humor 😂). Thank you Jose God-bless you and Jesus hugs ✝️ 😊
Love an authentic “it’s just okay” video. Was fully prepared for you to call yourself a sweet and contensed DILF at the beginning tho
You are a mind reader - I was just googling this 😮 Also, I love you 😇
You'll fall in love with this!!
Where I live it's hard to find sweetened condensed milk and it easily cost's 8-10 usd for one can, so definitely a money saver for me!
Omg this is awesome to know! Just found out I’m allergic to cows milk ( not goats or sheep’s milk). I can get evaporated goats milk but haven’t seen sweetened condensed goats milk. Now I can make my own. 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you for sharing this video good tips Sir God bless always
didn’t feel like going out and buying some and now i know how to make some so this helped me out, thank you
Primo. This was fun. Imma get some milk, some sugar... and grab a can of sweetened condensed milk too. No mames! I'm not going through all that trouble😂
Also, wtf with that other you in the doorway?!
Not kidding my stomach dropped like I was watching a horror movie 💀 🐮
I would actually do this to make my lemon creme pie. Thanks for the recipe.
Good to know! It's basically like simple syrup but with milk instead of water. I make my own simple syrup with a 2:1 ratio of sugar to water so that it's shelf stable and doesn't have to take up room in my refrigerator. I doubt I could do the same for milk unless it's canned. So I'll probably buy it at the store, but if I ever run out and need it in a pinch, it's good to know I can make it myself.
Underrated channel, keep up the work!
I’ve made my own keto sweetened condensed milk but I’ll have to make this for my family.
LOL your 2nd in the background looks eerie 😱 Issaquah, WA🇺🇸
Thank you for sharing this, God bless you and your family❤🎉😊
I live in a very remote place with only one tiny grocery store. The no-name cheap version costs nearly $6.00 here! Will definitely be making mine from now on.
Thanks Chef that was awesome. Carry-on.
I appreciate that friend
Another positive about making it yourself:
You can adjust the amount of milk used... One hole can is often so much for me when i bake and i don't really use it otherwise... it would be food waste
plus i can make it organic, when stores are closed,...
Year ago I made my own condensed (and dulce de leche) and evaporated milk for tres leches using lactose free milk bc my gf at the time was intolerant. It was a lot of standing around making sure it doesnt burn, but to be honest if you are not doing anything or plannon watching a movie anyway it’s only really worth it to make a lactose free version.
Thank you for sharing your recipes ❤
I just ran across your videos. Loving your style and content. I’m scrolling thru the videos and making notes! Thanks!!
Im a foreigner who has lived in Taiwan for over a decade. It is hard to find it, period. So definitely worth making!
You have a stalker!!! 😮😮
😂😂😂
So simple! ❤
It’s also great when you mix it with cream cheese (250 grams) and some lemon juice (1/4 cup) then put it in a pie crust 🤤🤤🤤
Another plus is no added "stuff", a little heathier.
Exactly which is what I love about it
Use that sniffer 😂😂😂 I cracking up
I was just watching your shorts when this came out, gracias papi
No, thank you! Enjoy it 🔥
Yay!!! You popped up on my YT finally
💣yes! Making it, coffee sweetener and Bailey’s Irish Cream ingredient Thanks 🙏!
1:13 made me LAFF 😂also can’t wait to try this!
Yippie! New upload!
Yippee you're here!!
congratulations on the one million!!!!
holy crap!! get it at Aldi! it's wonderful and about 1.95 (used to be 89 cents.. ridiculous how expensive stuff has gotten!)! but, it's always good to know how!
This is very helpful since I’m looking to make my own with monk fruit and lactose free milk. Thanks! ❤
I can’t wait to try this
I plan on doing that with goat milk, then make dulce de leche with it.
Love the honesty…just buy it. Making this as I write this cuz I have a gallon that is past due a day ago.
About 2 hours later and it’s done. Lesson learned: use a big pot with more surface area to evaporate more quickly. 3 quart saucepan is the wrong choice. Tastes good. Time to cool.
I'm definitely gonna try it cos I love condensed milk ❤
Of course it is worth
I do love sweetened condensed milk.
❤❤❤I will make it!❤❤❤
Thank you...im going to try this recipe soon
I'll be making it, as canned isn't readily available where I live ... THANKS
actually we are in a country that i cant find one of these and this video really helps me
Well, I appreciate it being lactose intolerant and my body HATES REFINED SUGAR!!! So, I will try it with rice milk first, because that’s what I buy on a regular basis. If that doesn’t thicken up as well, I’ll try coconut milk. I already have my raw sugar. 👏🏽👏🏽
Just made it! Well worth it. Thanks! Major thicky points 😁
Love the Freddy just chillin out in the background
