I just put on a set of Road 5's on my 2015 FZ-07. Haven't ridden it yet due to a LOT of snow, but heading to Bike Week in Arizona first week of April. Can't wait to test them out.
Tried anakee on my versys 300, good performance on road especially on wet roads (perform better than power 5) tried light off road, it wobbles around trying to find grip. Its 20% off road, 80% on road. For 50/50 dual sport, recommend pirelli scorpion trail II (best of both world with decent milage)

I was slightly disappointed that the Bridgestone Battlax S22/S21 were not mentioned. I ride with a large group in Central Wisconsin, where we ride hard through back road twisties on our sport bikes and adventure touring bikes, and nearly everyone now rides on the S21 and most are looking forward to the new improved S22. The wear is excellent, they work amazing on both the street and track, very little warm-up time required, and do well on colder days and in the rain. These tires surprise me at how well they hold the road in situations of unexpected dirt and gravel in a corner, which is a common issue on back roads with all the farming in Wisconsin. With the rebates offered by Bridgestone over the last couple seasons they were coming in at price point that seemed extremely good as well.
I'm stuck between choices. I want the Michelin Pilot Power 2ct as I've been thru 1 set and on 2nd rear tire of regular PP2's and very satisfied, but I'd like to go with the PP2CT this time, but they're not available where I'm getting my next set. So I'm torn between the Pirelli Rossa 3 and Dunlop Q3+, I dislike the single compound in Rossa 3 front tire, and do like the dual compound in both front and rear of Q3+, and the Rossa 3's are cheaper, but I hear they're better - so I'm a bit conflicted. Or should I just go somewhere else that does offer the Michelin PP2CT?
I have a moped and I have to change my front tyre and the only one they have is the maxxi tyre is it good? Or should I search for some Michelin or pirelli tyre?
I've had great luck with Avon tires on my ZZR1200. Confidence inspiring and decent mileage/distance, along with road hazard protection. Unfortunately they are hard to find when you are traveling, so it has Shinkos on it now. I'm considering Avons for the Ultra Classic. Annakee Wilds will be going on my KLR after I finish break in and ditch the OEM's.
I can’t think of a better Adventure tire than the Motoz Tractionator Adventure. It’s a true 50/50 tire that has far better mileage than a TKC80 and much better grip both on and off road. If you’re not tackling some tough terrain, the Pirelli Scorpion STR are a better option.
Dunlop Sportmax Q3 Plus are insane tires that give you great lean angle confidence. Q3's warm up fast and are very responsive when flicking your bike. I use them on my naked Z1000 around town, city and track.
On the Sport Bike tires... I agree. I have run BOTH of those, and felt I got about equal performance -- mostly on the street, with one track day on each. But my nod goes to Dunlop for 'Made in America', good center area mileage, lower price, and I have been a Volunteer Tech Inspector with MotoAmerica for several years, and they have been exclusively on Dunlop...
Best 50/50 big adventure I’ve ridden on my Tiger 800xc (after 58k miles) is the Motoz Tractionator GPS. to warm up on street, but once warm can be ridden aggressively in dry and wet; tremendously good in dirt/gravel. Amazing tread life. I wish Revzilla carried them.
I just purchased Avon Cobra Chromes for my 2019 HD RGS. I hate them. The bike used to ride like it was on rails. Now it’s super sensitive. They require at least 41 and 44 psi in order to minimize the feeling of riding on two pairs of bar soaps on a wet glass.

Hi there, I’m currently on the last stage of my Bonneville cafe racer project and I’m planning to fit a set of canyon 17’ sport wheels on it. What would be your recommendation? The bike hasn’t really got that much power and I don’t really ride that hard but I do like to have a bit of fun form time to time and mileage isn’t exactly something I’ll worry too much. Thanks!
Can't comment on the Dunlop I've riden some in the past on a friends bike was keen but I use the Diablo Rossi corsa 2 and there mental. 3 to 4k on a rear tyre. Double the front but the grip. Heat up time. Predictability. Feedback from the road is great IMO won't be dissapointed. That's on a gsxr 750
Aren't those a bit too aggressive for that type of bike? If you do mostly street riding (and not being a street Rossi), you would have probably been better off with some street tires like: Michelin Road 5, Continental Road Attack 3 or even bridgestone battlax s21. These will last you much longer and more than likely handle better in the wet. Just an opinion though, the tires you got are still SOLID AF.
White Wheels Thank you for your suggestions. I don’t do many miles per year, and riding a new motorcycle, I want the best grip tires, that will last at least double than Pirelli Supercorsa. Price difference is not huge. In Europe we don’t have Dunlop Q3 Plus Sportmax, we have Dunlop SportSmart TT and GP Racer D212.
Suggest me the best Tyres for my Cbr 250R Non Abs now it is Mrf Zapper it is not having any road grip in wet and dry please suggest me best tyres having wet and dry grip because it is Non Abs
The A-spec tires have a reinforced sidewall designed for heavier sport-touring bikes. As for mileage, the Angel GTs generally have 50% or more mileage than the Q3+ tires. The Angel GT IIs are even slightly better. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/pirelli-angel-gt-ii-tires *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/pirelli-angel-gt-tires *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/dunlop-q3-plus-sportmax-tires
Always wondered if people fit cruiser tyres on duel sport or adventure bikes. As in 21" front availability. Still think pilot road 5 should come in a 21"
Not everyone is going to line up behind the same tire selection, so it's tough for you guys to win. I appreciated the feedback on the Anakees, as I do not expect to keep the factory tires on the WeeStrom for long given their fairly poor reviews. Missed seeing a recommendation for Touring tires given the new products that have come out recently. No complaints with my Commander IIs at all, but more information is a good thing. And thanks for fixing the lighting. Nice to be able to see more than the hair light
It really depends on the weight of the cruiser and the size/type of tire that came on the bike. Generally, many cruisers have 15 and 16 inch wheels/tires, while adventure bikes are generally 17/18 inch rears and 19/21 inch fronts. There's not much cross compatibility there. -DrewZilla
Several years ago I purchased a bike that was in some ones garage that sat for serval years. It was pouring rain when I picked it up, like 1 to 2 inches of wind driven rain. It handle grate. The tires were cracked from storage. When I got it running really good I took it in for some tires to be put on in the shop. I was told I was crazy to have ridden those in any condition with those tires.. I told him to put on some good tires. Well they handle grate on dry roads, really good. So in my first time I got stuck in the rain I was in for a really bad surprise. It slid all over the road. The bike was a 83 Honda 900 custom. The handling was soo bad it kind of of shocked me. So what I want in a tire is good handling in dry weather & handling in good in bad weather. This is most important to me! what do you suggest?
What bike do you have? Is it still the 83 Honda? Your bike will determine what tires are available. You can always reach to our other Gear Geeks at cs@revzilla.com or 877-792-9455. Our site also has a live chat feature. -DrewZilla
why don't you like the Metzler Tire. I think they are awesome. They are one of the best tires in rain that I have ever rode. I get great mileage on the ME880's and now I am running the ME888. I am a very aggressive rider and have really no complaints on the braking.
Definitely not the Q4. Too little tire life for the street. I'd go with the Q3+ for a good mix of grip in the canyons and a bit more life for commuting. -DrewZilla
What would you say is the best Sport Touring tire right now? I've been running Pirelli Angel GT's for over 10k miles and love them. Gonna need a new set soon though, should I stick with them or switch it up?
You might try the Metzeler Roadtec 01s, as they have comparable dry grip and a bit more wet grip. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/metzeler-roadtec-01-tires
I just got off Dunlop 214s, and on Cobra Chrome on my MG California 1400 and it's a world of difference in high-speed stability, how fast it means down, how it tracks the curve, even the amount on slippage on takeoff. Yet to see about the wear as I've had them only for about 500 miles. So far, it's awesome
@@nicepartyfrog2564 I ran them do around 10k miles on the Cali and then I sold the bike, hiwever tires still had a lot of life left in them, I didn't notice any significant difference in performance from brand new until I sold the bike except for what one would consider normal. One thing I feel I need to point out is that the very firm sidewall of Cobra Chromes, so if you decide to mount them take it to the best guys you know because mounting the rear will be a challenge and you don't want some amateurs forcing things. Don't ask me how I know. Another downside of the hard sidewalls is that by the time you realize the tires are not on optimal pressure it's usually very low, so keep checking the pressures regularly
Amen Brother. That's all I run on my 2016 ZX14R SE. The S21's. But this year I'll run the New S22's.. I love those tires and believe me , if they work good on a ZX14 .. they are good tires.
@@timm1583 I've got Pilot 3s and they've performed excellently for me, including when I was still learning to ride, they've saved me when I've taken a corner faster than I should have and had to lean down to 55 degrees to not hit the curb(on a Versys 650), and didn't even feel close to slipping. (And no, I'm not exaggerating, I put my inner foot down to where my sole was sliding on the ground in case of slipping, and later did some measuring and math). I've later duplicated the feat on a CB500X, without putting my foot down, on the stock Pirelli Scorpion Trail tires, but that was on vacation in Thailand, where the temperature helps keep the tires warm and sticky).
I went with a Pirelli front tire on my trike because of the softer rubber compound that would grip better in the corners. Had a Dunlop on it and it was too hard.
EDIT: I was thinking of the A41s, not the AX41s. Unfortunately, we don't have any feedback on the new AX41 tires yet. -We haven't done any long term reviews on the A41 Tires, and we only have a couple user reviews on them. They should be a decent option though.- -DrewZilla
great reviews on tires, went to your link to purchase thr Pirellis Rossis Corsa II's because you mention they have a speed rating of W, but all I see are Z rated tires, what gives???
Even W-rated tires will have Z listed in the middle of the tire size, e.g. 120/70ZR17. However, the actual speed rating above Z is listed after the load rating at the end of the full tire size in the dropdown menu, e.g. 120/70ZR17 58W. All sizes are W-rated. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/pirelli-diablo-rosso-corsa-ii-tires
Manufacturing dates aren't quite as important as some people think. As long as the tires are stored properly, tires are good for a long time. Tires take a long time to get from the factories across the world to distributors in different countries, then to dealers in those countries, then finally to customers. -DrewZilla
MICHELIN COMMANDER II, IS OUR GO TO for the H-D Dynas. Anyone who knows my shop knows that we build big numbers, and the COMMANDER II, IS THE BEST TIRE FOR YOUR DYNA SUPERGLIDE. Just my Humble opinion of course, as your results may vary. RIDE SAFE RIDE FREE
Guys, I really need someone to break down for me the logic behind tread patterns. The last time I looked for tires for my HD Heritage, I really was enamored with the tread pattern of the Michelin Scorcher II, only to find that tire was not designed for, nor did it come in the size for my bike. I ended up with Scorcher I’s and the tread was a lot less aggressive. Please explain tread design.
Hey guys.. I was wondering if you would take a look at mitas tyres.. Specifically Mitas Sportforce+ .. If they are even available in the USA.. They are super popular in mid/eastern europe.. Migthy cheap and good perfromance.. Anyway.. Thanks for the great content and have a nice day.. Best of wishes from Slovenia
Right now, we only have the regular Sport Force, not the plus (+), and they're a nice affordable option. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/mitas-sport-force-tires
You guys Dropped the Ball by not including the S22's by Bridgestone. Triple Compound Rear , dual Compound Front Tire. Best tire for a ZX14 SE . ! Mine. Lol
when i buyed my yamaha fzs 600 second hand, and i change the tires(pirelli diablo rosso II ),the haddle and the feel of the motorcycle was 30-40% better.Brilliant tires!I also commute with them the only downside is when its wet,its ok but you must drive smooth
Not easily, since you'd need different length forks. Also, the larger rim could hit the bike at full suspension compression. That's not to say it couldn't be done, it would just require some engineering. -DrewZilla
Bridgestone S21 is perhaps abit more pricy, but it is by far the best sports tyre for street/track mixed riding. Honda puts it on their top end bikes like the CB1000R, should give you a hint.
If you can get the Metzeler M7, I recommend the M7. If not, it's a toss up between the M5 and Rosso II. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/metzeler-sportec-m7-rr-tires

Anyone have any recommendations for a daily commuter Ninja 650? Long lasting is my priority, with all weather coming in a close second (I live in Oregon and ride in the rain). Would Michelin Road 5’s be a good choice? I like the occasional twisty road as well haha.
Michelin Road 5s are a pretty good option, though for even longer life, consider the Dunlop Roadsmart 3 Tires. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/michelin-pilot-road-5-tires *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/dunlop-roadsmart-3-tires
So what about those of us that do a crap ton of miles? havent ridden in 12years so basically starting over buying a R3. I average about 30k a year in my car with 65miles a day 5 days a week in commute. Is there such a tire that lasts more than 2-3k miles but can handle the occasional weekend twisty I mean oregon roads are great for that
On an R3, definitely consider extended mileage sport tires like the Michelin Road 5 Tires. They have more mileage and plenty of grip for an R3. Bonus, they come in the narrower tire sizes found on the R3 and other 300-class bikes. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/michelin-pilot-road-5-tires

Are you guys just regurgitating what the manufacture says, or have even used these tires? Some bikes seem to work better with different tires, and different riders prefer different tires. Personal preference plays a big role in tire choices.
Guys!!!Please help out on an upgrade for RE Interceptor 650.its 18 inch 100 and 130 for front and back respectively!!!Maybe Avon has something in 140 session for rear!
The Pirelli Phantom Sportscomp Tires and Continental Road Attack 3 CR Tires are probably the best options for that bike. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/continental-road-attack-3-cr-tires
The Avon Trail Rider tyres are by far my favourite adventure bike tyres, much more grip and better feel than the Michelins or the Metzler Tourance tyres.

love your videos usually but there needed to be another catagory. there needs to be a normal street based tire for commuting and weekend scratching for standards, sports tourers and sports bikes that want good millage eg road 5's, pirelli gts, etc. this whole review doesnt cover any of my bikes and my usage at all. i never buy out and out sports tires as the centres wear to quick for commuting but with the 2 above mentioned tires i have had no dramas making my slower bikes 600rr/z1000sx keep up with my mates, actually usually go faster on the weekend runs
We featured the Road 5s in last year's guide when they were brand new. As for the S22, they are just now available in the US, so they weren't available when we filmed this a couple months ago. -DrewZilla

Brilliant tyre - ran these on an original R1.
thanks for reading off the catalogue to us.
I picked Diablo Rosso Corsa 2 yesterday, so nice to get the confirmation that I got the best tires for my KTM 790 Duke.
Whats the difference between A spec and standard tires? And the mielage differencr between the angel gts and dunlop q3+ tires.
The A-spec tires have a reinforced sidewall designed for heavier sport-touring bikes. As for mileage, the Angel GTs generally have 50% or more mileage than the Q3+ tires. The Angel GT IIs are even slightly better. -DrewZilla

I'm knew to motorcycles so please excuse me if this is a really stupid question but. Can you put adventure bike tires on a cruiser bike?
It really depends on the weight of the cruiser and the size/type of tire that came on the bike. Generally, many cruisers have 15 and 16 inch wheels/tires, while adventure bikes are generally 17/18 inch rears and 19/21 inch fronts. There's not much cross compatibility there. -DrewZilla
@@RevZilla Thanks for the info and taking the time to respond!
-DrewZilla
No I do not have that bike any longer I gave it to my so. @@RevZilla

Hi,
I own Harley dividson v Rod 2015 motorcycle,
and my question is: after how many years should I change my bike’s tires ?
Thank you so much.
You should change them when they reach the wear indicators or if they start to get dry and crack. -DrewZilla
8 years maximum...
why don't you like the Metzler Tire. I think they are awesome. They are one of the best tires in rain that I have ever rode. I get great mileage on the ME880's and now I am running the ME888. I am a very aggressive rider and have really no complaints on the braking.
We've featured Metzeler in previous years' guides, but this year, we wanted to feature some models that are new for 2019. -DrewZilla
What would you recommend Pirelli Supercorsa SP V3 or Dunlop Q3+ or may be Q4 for some canyon riding as well as some commuting?
Definitely not the Q4. Too little tire life for the street. I'd go with the Q3+ for a good mix of grip in the canyons and a bit more life for commuting. -DrewZilla
@@RevZilla what about the Pirellis SP V3? Any suggestions on those? I have the Q3+ and need to replace those in a couple of weeks. Thanks in avance
-DrewZilla

Pilot Road 5 🙌🏻
Doctor wheelie!!
Do you remember how long the Cobra Chrome lasted on the California 1400? Did they maintain consistency in performance compared to when they were new?
No Bridgestone Battlax s22 (or the older s21)? I've been running them on my zx10r and loving them!
Amen Brother.
That's all I run on my 2016 ZX14R SE. The S21's. But this year I'll run the New S22's.. I love those tires and believe me , if they work good on a ZX14 .. they are good tires.
No love for the Michelin Road 5 (or 4)? Supposedly best stopping power when wet.
ureviews road 5 hands down the best tire all year round also I have 7500 miles on my set and still going strong
Had road 5s now on Conti road attack 3
I rate it better than road 5s
Wet and especially on the dry
I like the 3's mainly cause its one of the few that make my tire sizes
@@OnlyKaerius stop it. 55 degrees?? Stop it son
that avon looks kinda strange...basicly slick in the middle, wont it be bad in the rain?
The tips of the tread do have center coverage, so they actually do pretty well in the rain. -DrewZilla
Been putting Avon Cobras on my CVO Breakout, well because "DUD"lops suck. That is unless you want something with the grip of a skateboard wheel.
I went with a Pirelli front tire on my trike because of the softer rubber compound that would grip better in the corners. Had a Dunlop on it and it was too hard.
I see you had the new Michelin Adventure but have you had a chance of reviewing the new Bridgestone AX41 what is your take on it ???
EDIT: I was thinking of the A41s, not the AX41s. Unfortunately, we don't have any feedback on the new AX41 tires yet. -We haven't done any long term reviews on the A41 Tires, and we only have a couple user reviews on them. They should be a decent option though.- -DrewZilla
Some great choices in tires there guys! Thank you for the review.
great reviews on tires, went to your link to purchase thr Pirellis Rossis Corsa II's because you mention they have a speed rating of W, but all I see are Z rated tires, what gives???
Even W-rated tires will have Z listed in the middle of the tire size, e.g. 120/70ZR17. However, the actual speed rating above Z is listed after the load rating at the end of the full tire size in the dropdown menu, e.g. 120/70ZR17 58W. All sizes are W-rated. -DrewZilla

For those that have to deal with rain and wet roads like me in the PNW take a look at the Metzeler Sportec M7 RR.

I love that intro music. This format is great. You guys rock!
How important is manufacturing dates on tyres? Is older unused tyres dangerous?
Manufacturing dates aren't quite as important as some people think. As long as the tires are stored properly, tires are good for a long time. Tires take a long time to get from the factories across the world to distributors in different countries, then to dealers in those countries, then finally to customers. -DrewZilla

I ended up with Scorcher I’s and the tread was a lot less aggressive. Please explain tread design.

Would it be possible to put a 19" rim on my Versys 650, better for the dirt?
Not easily, since you'd need different length forks. Also, the larger rim could hit the bike at full suspension compression. That's not to say it couldn't be done, it would just require some engineering. -DrewZilla
