UPDATE: Crafting head slot is a little bit better than crafting chest for optimal tier. Ideally you have tier everywhere but head slot. Here is the weakaura i'm using for tracking Calefaction, the 4 set bonus: wago.io/ntpeW3unp/2 Outside of lust, your combustion is similar but you do not shifting power during combust. With tier, you alternate PF / FB trying to get as many pyros out as possible. Same thing as lust combust, just without shifting power.
Yeah we’re not performing the best right now. But like you said I anticipate a blanket % buff here real soon. I’m sure they can work the math and not include ignite so they don’t break AOE. At least for the tier until they do this “rework”
Hello Pump - I would VERY much love a raid log review. M+ I am not as concerned with. im not a patreon but I do play fire mage. I am a CE raider. I killed Rasz about 3-4 weeks ahead of you. I already kind of understand a few things I need to improve on, I just still feel like I struggle a bit more than in the past. if I dont get chosen I may sub to your patreon and reach out about log reviews anyhow. I paid a decent bit of money last xpac for a big streamer to review mine and it was a very underwhelming experience. He just copy/pasted wowanalyzer crap like "always be casting" lol
For sure, link a characters logs for a chance at the giveaway a week from now! Just giving people time to enter raid, going to be a huge gear diff early on
not a big deal - but for consumables - the new(ish) Deviously Deviled Eggs are dirt cheap and same buff as the fortune cookie. Not a huge money saver, but a nice one if you're buying in bulk
Also a small sidenot if Im not mistaken u cant eat a FOrtune cookie if u die in a m+ while the key is active cuz of the loot u get from eating it so also a reason to get the other one.
on that filler rotation i feel like i never crit. im also a new player in my first season. how do you keep up dps when youre just constantly throwing fireballs?
Try and line pyroclasm procs up with SKB hard casts; Use your pyroclasm procs under 5 charges of SKB, and if you have pyroclasm procs during combust it is a slight gain to use them.
I think better tier setup is all except head. The head should be from The Amalgamation Chamber one with high haste and less mastery. Set head is high crit less mastery the chest is less crit high mastery. :)
Updated the pinned comment to highlight this, I simmed versions of this and it did actually prefer kicking out tier helm. Crafted helm is the play over crafted chest, thanks for pointing it out! I did crafted wrist with shadowflame armor patch this spark set since I couldn't get tier in ideal slots, still need tier shoulders. Next spark for me will be crafted helm hopefully :)
Isnt the high mastery on chest piece kinda nice and the gloves with high crit the outlier? or u lookin to get the big stats optimally from the chest craft?
That's what I thought at first as well, but getting chest with completely optimal stats is better than gloves with meh stats just because chest has more value than hands. I would still sim your character though, it might vary depending on your own characters weights but mine valued chest craft more
@pumptastic Can u do a M+ one? I'm having trouble this season for some reason, Im not sure if it's me or just that dungeons aren't great for fire. 3k last season usually topping meters to barely competing on meters with rogues and paladins this season
I'll have dungeon walkthroughs out soon - just compiling footage. I think that some dungeons fire just sucks at, vortex pinnacle and lair feel very lackluster so far for me. Bracken and Uldaman we can pump though, i've peaked at 130k ish overall in those dungeons
@@pumptastic I don't know honestly eveything feels off to me this season. I just can't swallow the fact that i can pump more dps on a sp and lock alt with lower ilvl than my 18 year old main lol
In m+ your rotation doesn't change; priority is to still get off as many pyroblasts as possible inside of combust and spread the ignite through fire blast. Right now I follow this rulebook for holding combust, but it varies a lot depending on your group: 1. Is it the pack before a boss? If yes, hold combust 2. Do the mobs have high enough health to get ignite value? Varies by team, but the number I combust right now is above 3 mil ish hp. 3. Try and get a little bit of firestarter value when starting packs. That's about the only difference rotationally is that you don't get as much firestarter value. Once you have 2 piece you weave in dragons breath often in keys.

Phoenix Flames/FB 2. Fireball, combust at the end of this cast and send out hot streak pyro before fireball hits 3. Double pyro Hopefully that makes sense. Just milking Firestarter for everything we can before combust
Since it's the start of season + tyrannical we don't have time to ramp on adds unless the key is high. Fire mage needs adds to live for quite a while to get value. On tyrannical weeks at lower levels of keys fire is just going to do poorly on trash
Yes, fire mage is a lot simpler now - You do not have to manage Rune of Power + Feel the Burn & hard-casting pyroblast is 1.5 seconds faster. In AOE, you will want to flamestrike as much as possible. In single target, nothing changed - it is just easier to execute combustion after the changes. You have 1 more charge of phoenix flames & do not ever have to worry about rune / feel the burn. I am working on a guide over the next week. the flamestrike playstyle is different but single target remains the same
i've read tier helm is fire mages worst stat wise so shadowflame crafted helm is recommended instead of the chest - (source Bloodmallet -character profile)
hey man what about aoe dps i see other fire mages pumping cause of ignite yet i just dont fully understand it and my dps is lack luster compared since my ignite isnt doing the same
Fire blast spreads our AOE damage onto other targets, and it scales with mastery. For AOE you are still doing the same thing, doing a bunch of single target damage and then fire blast spreads your AOE. Nothing changes rotationally, but in low keys your aoe can struggle if mobs aren't alive long enough
For fire mage specifically, it is a lot of effort for not much reward at the moment. If your group doesn't need a mage, I would switch to something else tbh. If you have fun on the class, then don't switch. Depends what kind of content you are doing :)

Hardcast pyro when you get SKB up, even inside of combustion 4. Filler rotation afterwards

It's a hard class to master, and isn't rewarding unless you're able to do high APM. Don't be frustrated, it isn't for everyone
