    "Coffee slide close enough to do a single." Thank you for this! I like doing single shots but hate the extra step of having to pull the shot into one vessel (double shot capacity) only to have to pour it into another (single). I currently use the Sage Barista Pro. Although it's a great machine, I find the more I research, the more quickly I want to upgrade. When the time comes, the Lelit Elizabeth is going to be a strong contender.

    Hi Dave. Thanks for the info. I was thinking of getting the Lelit Mara X until I read it had a 25mm warm up time. I’m used to a barista express but I’ve an itch for a good quality machine to change it too. I was toying with a few others such as the Ascaso Duo PID and Profitec Go (or the ECM Casa V but no PID) but I came across the Lelit Elizabeth and I’m now tempted by it based on its size and it looks good enough too. Any thoughts? Particularly in comparing to the Mara x. Cheers

    Hey Dave, thanks for all your work you are doing for the community! Just a quick questions: Are all the Lelit Elizabeth Advanced LCC Settings tested on a Elizabeth V3? Because the standard values on my V3 deviate quite a lot from your recommended values.
    My deviating values: KPc 2.0, KIc 0.04, KDc 1.0, KDs 20.0, Bs 30

    Hi Dave! Thanks for sharing these videos. Super helpful. I'm looking into getting my first dual boiler machine, and I'm seriously eyeing the Elizabeth, but I have a question. Does the use of steam preinfusion limit the milk-steaming capability in some way? I'm just thinking that if I were to steam milk while I pull my shot (and given the relatively small boiler size), the steam used for preinfusion might "steal" from the steam for milk frothing. Again, not sure exactly how this works or if the preinfusion uses all that much steam anyway, so any insight would be great. Thanks!

    • @DaveCorbey
      @DaveCorbey  3 года назад +1

      Ideally you wouk start to steam after the preinfusion phase e.g when the pump starts again. Not doing so risks reducing the preinfusion pressure a little.. So literally waiting 10-12s after you start your shot, then steaming.

    Hi Dave! There are a lot of opinions about right balance of quantity of ground coffee, final (terminal ;) weight of espresso and optimal time to prepare a nice shot of espresso. For example, many experts advise to start with ratio of 1:2 of ground coffee to weight of espresso and aim for range of 20 to 30 seconds. Looking at this approach and making without pre-infusion or blooming phase. My question is : does the time have to be counted from the moment of pressing button number 1 /number 2 - that instant when the pump initiates an espresso cycle, Lelit pl92t does spectacular job recording this time, OR does the time have to be counted from the instant of the first drops of espresso in the cup? The latter time can be recorded by scale with a built-in automatic timer. Thank you for awesome, valuable works you do for coffee lovers.

    • @DaveCorbey
      @DaveCorbey  Год назад

      Sorry I didn't notice this post until now. I always time from the moment I start the pump...I do this because to me that's a constant that makes it repeatable....Good espresso is all about consistency and repetition.

    Hi Dave,
    First of, just want to say thank you for all the work behind the videos, very helpful insights into these machines.
    I am in a dilemma between the Mara X and the Eliabeth.
    I have 3 quick questions i would like to ask you regarding them.
    1. Based on the components used in the machine, which is more durable?
    2. Which machine is easier to keep clean, i.e. in the grouphead (E61 vs saturated), backflushing, descaling etc.
    3. Which machine would you personally get/keep
    From all the information i have gathered so far, Elizabeth is technologically advanced, not only in terms of dual boiler, but in the LLC controls as well. I am expecting great shots with 99% of beans, compared to maybe 95% of the time on the Mara, notably weaker with light roast.
    Both machines are priced the same at the moment where i am at, with a usage scenario of 2 lattes twice a day.
    Thanks once again

      They are both good...just get whichever one you like best.

    • @AzizIzgin
      @AzizIzgin 3 года назад

      Which did you get?
      The brass boiler scares me a bit due to reading cases where the metal has leached into the coffee/water, would rather have both ss instead. Worth mentioning the articles i have read are not related to Lelit... only brass boilers in espresso machines in general... but I think also it was from 3 -4years ago.
      Wonder what quality they have on the brass boiler and how they prevent the health risks of choosing brass.

    • @Casablancas.
      @Casablancas. 3 года назад +1

      @@AzizIzgin Went with the Elizabeth in the end. Your concerns are valid, but something only Lelit can answer. You may also want to consider that for the Mara X, the brew water will flow through the brass E61 group head, so pretty hard to avoid brass In most machines..

    • @AzizIzgin
      @AzizIzgin 3 года назад

      @@Casablancas. are you happy with the machine?
      I don’t think I have ever overthought anything at this level before 😅😂
      I really didn’t think of the e61 being brass! You are so right.
      Hmm, I thought that risk lies where the water stays for a longer time... but it is the same since it is circulated in the e61.
      Omg it doesn’t matter whichever I choose 🤣. We are all fucked in the end after all.
      Hope your machine is working out 👍🏻

    • @Casablancas.
      @Casablancas. 3 года назад +1

      @@AzizIzgin Yes I am very happy with the machine! The ease of use and no-guessing needed from a DB machine has proven to be very useful in keeping consistency. Pre-infusion has been really useful to ensure even extraction, and steam is great, able to produce silky microfoam with no visible bubbles.
      I think the safest machine you can get with regards to lead would probably be the decent. Only a small plate in the group head, and replaceable with a thermally inert part in the future. Almost every other traditional machine has quite a lot of brass fittings throughout the machine.

    Great video. Can i ask one thing. I see you have 2 buttons where you can set the timer for each one. What is the purpose of having 2 buttons that offer the same function but with different settings if you wish? Is this so you button 1 pulls shots, then when you have run out of water, button 2 pulls more shots? Or is so that husband sets up his settings on button 1 while wife sets up settings on button 2? And would you say the elizabeth is more for a shop vs two people living at home? Seems like its a lot of machine. I'm trying to decide between ANNA 2, VICTORIA and ELizabeth

    • @DaveCorbey
      @DaveCorbey  3 года назад +1

      2 buttons for 2 styles of shot, so you could have button 1 set up with no preinfusion and button 2 with preinfusion, or different shot times for different coffees, or as you suggested with 2 people using the machine. The Elizabeth is absolutely not for a shop, that would require a different machine with larger boilers. Elizabeth is about the most compact dual boiler package you can get, with surprisingly powerful steaming and clever capabilities.
      Definitely read my review if you have not done so and it links to 2 other documents I made for maintenance and pro tips, plus a separate guide to the LCC

    Dave - truly enjoy your research and video content…thanks to your detailed review I bought the Niche grinder last Nov…I’m ready to upgrade from Breville Infuser ( using and learning since 8/20)…I am conflicted between Mara X and Elizabeth…the price difference is so close…I like the classic looks of Mara X and your recap of its innovative features in the world of HX…you seem equally bullish about Elizabeth with all of it LCC magic….my utilization is 2-4 shots/day with 50% involving foam….if I go Mara X I will buy the wood knob kit and a wood handle bottomless for that special “Bianca” look! Is the Mara X stainless boiler a deciding factor in its favor? Is the 3 yer warranty on Elizabeth vs 1 year on Mara X a compelling differentiator? I noted on home- barista a comment from you wherein you preferred the Elizabeth citing a quieter pump. Since most of your reviews are a year old can you share any insights that will help me past my gridlock? I expect to buy this Monday 6/28… Thanks in advance.

    Can you get boiling water close to 100 degrees Celsius out of that hot water spout to make tea or cup noodles quickly from the Elizabeth? Your videos and sway articles have really helped me. I have my eyes now set on Lelit Elizabeth v3 when local retailer starts selling it in New Zealand. I was initially looking at Profitec 500, 300 then Lelit Bianca then Mara X but the Elizabeth does everything we want with less mucking around with 2 button presets. Which grinder would you recommend that is under USD $800

    • @DaveCorbey
      @DaveCorbey  3 года назад +1

      You can get boiling water close to 100C, certainly as far as the laws of physics will allow....due to an almost instant 3 or 4C drop as it reaches a few cm from the outlet. It's going to be as hot as a kettle for making Pot Noodles (urgh). I use the Niche Zero with the Lelit, should you not want to single dose or have a conical burr, then Eureka make some decent grinders at that price point.

    • @allyburns1
      @allyburns1 3 года назад +1

      I was researching the same kind of machines and ended up on the Elizabeth, with a bit of help from Dave's excellent content. It's a pre-order so wont have it for a while. I ordered a Niche Zero before I decided on the machine, I think it's a perfect companion, and I'll devise a single dose workflow once I find a few suitable tubs to store a batch of weighed beans in. Someone used test tubes but Dave wasn't keen on the air space, so either smaller test tubes, or back to the drawing board (or just weigh each time) Hope you can get the Lelit soon!

      Pretty much yes, you won't have a very adjustable expansion valve, but if you check the plumbing you can replace the Lelit one very easily with an easily available one from an espresso parts shop...you would do it in line and NOT by putting it on the boiler as Lelit did. Not really able to explain on a video comment.

      @@DaveCorbeyThanks a lot. :) Actually, I don't want to play with the OPV valve too much, but what you said caught my attention. I think I can easily use the new OPV valve if I divide the output from the pump into two, connect the new OPV valve to an outlet in this divided area, and connect the other pipe coming from above to the other outlet. Is that true?

      I only review stuff I think is worthy and nice, so that's down to you, read the reviews, watch the Videos and see which one you think you like best. They are all going to make excellent coffee. I like lots of machines, I own 9 and rotate them, some are prototypes which are fun to collect. That said, I like the Elizabeth but only because I'm lazy, it's nice and light, easy to keep clean, no E61 group maintenance and enough functions to keep me interested, plus of course dual boiler. However, some people love the E61 MaraX, some want a Vesuvius, others a Minima and so it goes on.... If I could tell you which machine is best for you, it would spoil the fun ;)

      If you don't need the dual-boiler setup, if you only make milk-based drinks once in a while, the PL91T Victoria is very similar to the Elizabeth, but narrower, and about 300-500€ less. This is the machine I chose, because I practically never make more than 2 cappuccinos in a row.

      besides dual boiler capabilities and updated lcc, is the Victoria as god as Elisabeth in pulling shots and milk based drinks you think?
      Can one get the same results but with more patience?
      I don’t know if it is worth the money if I drink alone and drink maximum 3 espressos and 1-2 cappuccino each day? Was even looking at the grace to be honest, if it had the same potential as I don’t mind the 57mm pf.

      The Victoria and Elizabeth are mostly the same machine. The Elizabeth has the silent pump, but I added this to my Victoria too. It is dual boiler, which makes a difference if you want to make many milk-based drinks in a row. I mostly make one or two, so the Victoria is perfect for me. Apart from that, there are almost no differences. The Elizabeth has a steam-assisted pre-infusion mode which the Victoria doesn't.
      I am very happy with my Victoria, the perfect machine for my needs. I just wish the steam knob was nicer, but I am working on this.
