    Good review, I got the Dragster SCS last year n love it. The Battery issue is well known, the stock is crap but part of the issue is the bike has a gps modem that regularly connects, pulling the plug to the right of the starter SOV (behind small panel, bikes right side), if leaving the bike for a couple weeks sorts it. I also got the Fresco triple but in titanium blue n chopped off the small baffles, but I have not touched the servo, my dealer in Manila advised against it saying it will slightly reduces the low down throttle response and torque. Its not only for Euro 5 noise compliance and is supposed to regulate the header back pressure to tune the exhaust for optimum performance.... apparently. The replacement ECU which comes with the SC Projects slip on is because that exhaust removes the standard cat. The combo pushes the bike to 150bhp allegedly, i had one on order when I ordered the bike but due to global... ahem... chip shortages it never arrived. So at the first 1K service I went for the Fresco, no regrets, its gorgeous. I am about to get a new fancy seat cover from Luimoto Canada and with it a gold gel pad, this greatly enhances comfort (they say), I am 6 ft and 176 lbs n yes numb ass after around 100 klicks. Your comment on the front end could be stiffer was interesting.... After much setting experiments and riding, I found I had to reduce preload slightly, rear ended up back on the delivery setting. The dealer had asked me my body weight before I took delivery.
    Enjoy that MV fella, its my first one n absolutely it is the best I have ridden.
    Ride safe.

      Thank you! I love the Dragsters so much; I want to get one as well. I will have to look into that gps thing more. I put the lithium battery in and it's an improvements but, it still drains. I had spoken with an MV tech who told me that the servo delete would not affect anything, I even mentioned if the back pressure or lack thereof would be a concern and he assured me it wouldn't be. I have to say if there is any loss of low end torque, which I wish it had more of, its made up by the deep rumble at idle lol!

    The sound is absolutely wicked on these bikes. I love my small block Chevy sound of my Moto Guzzi, but there’s no denying I love these Agusta exhaust music notes equally as much! I rode around for a while on an fz-07 with mods and that was wicked (full race headers and exhaust, new ecu and dyno tuned, etc) would easily lift in 3rd gear…I can’t even imagine this animal you’re on now with the Agusta. Nothing short of incredible! Does this bike tolerate taking it easy and gentle daily commuting type of riding, or does it require you constantly rip it and ride it hard?

    • @mzgarage
      @mzgarage  Год назад +1

      Yes, the triples sound amazing! They are my favorite sound. These really need an aftermarket exhaust to open them up, the stock exhaust sounds terrible. I came from an MT-07 (stock as far as performance) and this is easier and more docile to ride, the power curve it very different and I have trouble getting the front wheel up (it's because I'm nervous, I looped my MT-07). I make a video talking about it as far as a commuter where I talk more about how they compare to each other.

    Great review! I have the same 2022 model bike (just a different color and without the SCS) and, although I only have around 900 miles (1500km) on it, I pretty much agree with all the points you made. The torque is indeed a bit low, and the engine only really "explodes" on the higher revs, so it's not exactly a bike made for the city!
    I also just installed the same Fresco exhaust (I live in Italy, so I don't really have your same issues with spare parts availability, and I received it after only 2 days!) and the sound is so much better now!
    The only little gripe I have with the bike is that, when I start accelerating and slowly releasing the clutch, I can hear and feel a pretty annoying vibration (for the lack of a better word) coming from the left side. At first I thought it was the chain hitting on the cat, but I keep hearing the same noise even after installing the Fresco exhaust, which has a much smaller cat and so there's no way for the chain to actually hit it. Did you ever notice anything similar on your Brutale?

    • @mzgarage
      @mzgarage  2 года назад

      Thank you! Yea, parts/accessories are not as common in the US for these bikes. I will say I paid for DHL express shipping on the exhaust and received it in 4 days I believe.
      I was out riding today and made it point to use the clutch out of first (I read your comment last night), which I don't do often with the SCS, but I did not notice anything like what you are describing. I will keep trying though and see if I notice anything. Was it more of something you heard or felt?

      @Diegolino1981 2 года назад

      @@mzgarage First off, thank you very much for taking the time to respond and to actually do some tests on your own bike!
      It's definitely something I hear (and also feel) whenever the bike is at very low speeds/rpms. Still don't know whether it's the engine or just simply the chain that's too loose or something. All I know is that it's been doing it since day 1. Anyway, I should probably just take it for a check-up or something!

    • @mzgarage
      @mzgarage  2 года назад

      No problem. Do you hear it in the least bit when it's just idling?

    • @Diegolino1981
      @Diegolino1981 2 года назад +1

      @@mzgarage No, it doesn't do it when the bike is idle. I only hear it just as the bike starts to move, that's why I thought it might be the chain. 🤷

    • @mzgarage
      @mzgarage  2 года назад +1

      That makes sense, like you said it does ride on that plastic guard. I would put it up on a stand that allows the rear tire to spin. If you start it in neutral the rear tire should spin slowly, and you may be able to see if you hear it then. It's tough to hear something like that with a helmet on and the louder exhaust. I don't think I have noticed it. Maybe I will ride around my driveway with no helmet to see if I can hear anything.

    Awesome bike! I have a 2017 Kawasaki z650, it’s my first bike and I have had it for 2 years now. I feel like I’m ready for a new bike but I just can’t find anything that I’m really interested in. I enjoy the naked bikes and I don’t want a speed bike. This bike is realistically what I would want to get next, the only problem is the $$$. Either way, awesome video and very informative👍

    • @mzgarage
      @mzgarage  2 года назад +1

      Yea I definitely agree, naked bikes are awesome. The MV's just look so amazing and different, but yes very pricey. You can definitely get more bike for the money, but it just won't look as nice IMO. The new MTO9s perform well and cost just over half of this, but I am just not a fan of the look. I was going back and forth between this and that, but I am very happy with my choice. Glad you enjoyed the video, lots more to come.

    • @KhrisRidez
      @KhrisRidez 2 года назад +3

      Why don't you look at the Aprilia RS 660 or Tuono 660 if you need a naked ... the RS660 is arguably the best middleweight bike you can buy at a killer price point. It's got everything, Electronics/Premium parts etc. I was definitely looking at that before I choose my Brutale.

    • @mzgarage
      @mzgarage  2 года назад

      @@KhrisRidez Absolutely agree! But..... I don't think anyone buys an MV Agusta thinking it's the best bang for your buck. It's not for sure, but nothing compares to the look in my opinion. I was thinking about the RS660 for a period of time since it doesn't have the most aggressive riding position, but you can't beat a naked bike for everyday riding.

    Awesome review! I have a honda cb650r as my first bike almost 3yrs now. Looking into upgrading… if my wife allows it. Haha. How often is maintenance and how much would a regular maintenance cost? Would you say its reliable enough to use as a daily? Trying to get as many good points as i can get for “the discussion.” Appreciate it.

    • @mzgarage
      @mzgarage  Год назад +1

      Thank you. As I mentioned in the video, I came from an MTO7 and it was a welcomed upgrade. Much more stable with more top end power, but I do miss the low end grunt. I would imagine the power curve would feel similar the CB650R, but just more of it. As far as maintenance, these Italian bikes are going to be more. The first real maintenance is not until I think 18k-20k miles I think, which is the valve clearance check. That will be pricey. Other than oil changes, cleaning the chain, there is really nothing else you have to do. Reliability has been good except for the battery issue, but if you ride everyday, you will not have to worry about it. The problem is only when you don't ride it for a while. The one issue I did have is the imu seems to become off by about 1.5 degrees so when I was riding straight down the road the angle meter said I was leaning to the right slightly. This didn't affect anything, but it annoyed by. The dealer was able to recalibrate it though.

How often do you take your Brutale to the dealer shop for the maintenance? I have a 2021 Dragster 800 Rosso and a RR SCS. Both of them are low mileage: below 500 miles. Once again, I really appreciated this video.

      No problem, glad you enjoyed it. Well.... I just hit 15,000 miles. I might have the record for the most miles on 2022 MV Agusta lol. I plan on doing a 15k update soon. In the past 1k miles I have started to notice the clutch slipping or at least what it seems to be. At high RPMs when I give it full throttle, the tach shoots up right away like 2k rpms (not every time), but the bike it is obviously not accelerating that fast. I am not sure if it has to do with the SCS. Other than that, the only issue is the battery drain issue. The lithium battery does help, but it still drains quickly without riding.

I wanted the Black and Grey carbon color SCS like yours, unfortunately there were none available in the states, so they put in a order a Standard 800rr to be built from the factory. Yes I love my 14r , It's very comfortable but a RIOT. Ridiculous power but you obviously have to negotiate when and how much to use.You can't just sling that thing into turns like that lol. Definitely wanted to get a bike that was more about having fun, being sound and forgiving at the sametime.I haven't been on a smaller bike in almost 10 years and have been exclusively on Supersport so I wanted a change, MV Agustas F4 Tamburini Edition is my favorite all time bike. So I always wanted a MV, I looked at the F3 first but then thought nooo, leave the Supersport alone lol and when I saw the brutale it was a wrap. I just thought it's still sport but a naked which I'm intrigued by and said that's it. I still want a Superduke 1290R but that falls back into that category of big power lol so I opted out this time. Only issue is really the battery and of course you say the clutch is slipping but that’s all in due time. I was wavering between the dragster RR and the 22 Indian FTR Carbon. I went with the FTR. I found one for $16k low miles used. It’s awesome, sounds good, gorgeous, met many of the same checkboxes as the Dragster. The sway for me was Polaris/Indian dealer network, parts, product support, aftermarket support, and resale value if it didn’t work out for me. I’m 5-7 and it’s a little tall but the recently released comfort seat seems to help a lot.
      I still pine for a dragster though, there’s a 2016 near me for $10k and a 2019 for $13k. Neither have the TFT but the color choices are much better in my opinion. I’m reading about pre 2018s with sprag clutch issues, oil leaks, ect, and waiting months for parts that aren’t improved and will fail again. However, I’m a three time Ural owner so I’m a glutton for this kind of punishment 😂

    • @mzgarage
      @mzgarage  Год назад

      I know the feeling, I am about 5'7" as well and I wish every bike was an inch lower. Those FTRs are pretty cool, I have watched quite a few videos on them.
      As far as the dealer, the place I bought mine has sold like 3 MV's in the last 3 years. I seem to know more about the bike than they do, and I knew this going into it, but I am dreading any serious problems in the future. I was happy to year that MV was teaming up with KTM for service, but it sounds like that fell though, unfortunately. The newer MVs seem to be more reliable from what I see in the groups, however they still seem to suck down batteries just sitting there. I installed a lithium battery and its better, but still drops over a few weeks to where it won't start, but that is better than one week.

    • @mzgarage
      @mzgarage  2 года назад +2

      So far, it has been pretty good. I have done 9,000 mile service which is basically a check over and nothing serious. The stock battery, as I mentioned, does not do well in this bike, but recently I have been having the same issues with the lithium battery I installed. I am going to do a follow up video to that soon. It seems this bike has a parasitic drain on batteries. The lithium handles it better, but over time it seems to be suffering from the same issue.
      There have been a few times where the check engine light has come on when I go to start it and the voltage it low. The error goes away, but the light has to be cleared by the dealer which is annoying. There must be some glitch with low voltage and the IMU. So far, besides the battery issue, reliability has been good. If I was more consistent with using a tender for longer periods of not riding it would not be an issue either, it's just annoying.
