You may have just saved my business. I mistakenly bought a GPU with this issue but haven't paid for it yet. I have noticed things popping up in eBay searches that shouldn't (I specifically filter out 'for parts or repair' listings) and could argue I shouldn't have to pay for it. I have a SMT rework station and have been studying because I want to get into board repair. But right now I am just trying to get a business going selling budget gaming PCs. I don't have a fancy microscope but I have something that will work good enough. I am really good at putting theory into practice and I'm a certified aviation maintenance tech who has been soldering since age 8. However, it is a gamble. Probably better than 50:50 but still a gamble.
I knew as soon as I read the description (after I bought it) that it would have a bad memory IC.
i am also terrified at the thought it might be a bad memory controller, in which case I would be completely screwed. I am still thinking about just asking nicely if the seller would void the sale. Maybe I should have looked more closely, maybe it shouldn't have come up in search results filtered for 'used' listings. A GTX 1060 appeared at the beginning of the search for 'RTX 3060 12GB'.

Hi Aaron , do u have a video or suggestion video , on how to replace the pod on the memory module itself ? I have what seems like a missing pad and the solderball wont stick to that particular one . I find allot on pad repair on the motherboard itself ,but not specificly on the gddr ram module itself . Kind regards , and thx for your videos !

Does the orientation of the chip matter when you are replacing them? I noticed the writing on the b module you replaced reads the other way

You don't preheat the board for the Vram ? What temp is the hot-air ?
On RTX 2070, I have replaced the Vram twice and the graphic card cant see that one memory at all. Could one pad not be connected or something wrong with GPU ? Any tips for reballing memory ? The balls just dont stick to the memory, I tried with and without flux.

I just preheat with the hot air. On this station, I use hot air around 460c when pulling or setting the module. It is possible your chip is not sitting properly or fully connected. It's also possible some individual vram specific resistor is bad or something. However, if you are not confident with your reball, I would probably assume the chip is not fully connected. I also have a couple videos where I reball ram, so you can take a look at one of those.

Is it possible to increase the vram of a Rtx 2060 ? If yes then what's the max memory limit.

What is the material you are putting on the chip before heating it to take it off?

You must change board id resistors, but I don't have schematics or know more details then that.

Does the serial number of the new VRam matter?
Shall it match the other graphic card Vrams serial number?
    Like HC16/HC14

This guy made a tutorial that I think works. I had a different link and instructions when I downloaded it myself, but I no longer have access to that.

Hello, yes this is my card. I also have a bunch of 2000 series cards that I am going to do a full vram swap on. Meaning im going to replace all the modules. Its going to be a pain haha, but why not.
