    onion, 2 bell peppers, 4 cloves of garlic - sauté until soft
    1tsp smoked paprika, .5 tsp cumin
    125 ml tomato sauce
    simmer down
    400 g chickpeas/garbanzo beans
    125 veg broth
    simmer down
    eggs
    garnish
    bon appétit

    Sounds delicious. And to ensure that it drives the night time chills away, I am going to add one each chopped ghost pepper and habanero, and grate a little bit of Manchego cheese over the top.

    I made this dish tonight and my mom and husband loved it. I did not have enough garbanzo beans so I added cannelli beans. It was spectacular. Instead of peppers, I added cilantro and celery, which was a great taste. It was a challenge to make the egg pockets but I can improve that technique! 😊 Delicioso.

    Instead of grating tomatoes 🍅, I use my small food processor to make an instant purée. Thanks for hint of three minutes to poach the egg. Turned out perfect! I topped my dish with avocado 🥑 cubes. Delicious!

    To me, this looks like a perfect dinner. I will make this tomorrow with fresh baked bread and a salad from the winter garden. I have an abundance of tomatoes and peppers preserved from the summer.
    Decided to plant paprika peppers this summer.
    Daughter tried growing chickpeas a few years ago. Very interesting plant. Leaves and pods unlike other beans we have grown. Very poor yield because we don't live in the right climate, but she did get enough for one meal. An interesting experiment.

    I learned a shakshuka recipe that I modified with extra vegetables to add more substance to the sauce and chickpeas to add more protein. This recipe is almost exactly how I make my version of shakshuka. I like to make a large portion of shakshuka without the eggs and freeze them in single portions, so that after work, I just pull out a frozen block of shashuka, warm it up in a pot, and add eggs to it. So delicious and it freezes really well for a 10 minute weeknight dinner.

    This looks like a nice change from my regular breakfast. I don't care for bell peppers and will probably use some mild green chiles instead.
    I made your poor man's bean stew last night and had the leftovers tonight. It was delicious, though it took forever (3 hours) for the beans to cook and they still were not quite as soft as I like.

      You can usually find organic, GMO free in your local stores.

      I cook dried chickpeas from start to finish in 45 minutes. I like my chickpeas to have a bit more texture so cook them “al dente”. Not a fan of mushy beans. Happy Holidays 🎄

    Una pregunta. ¿Has usado alguna vez paprika no ahumado? Todas las recitas usan paprika ahumado y nunca otros tipos de paprika. ¿Porqué? Por cierto, esto no es crítica. Solo una pregunta.

    I love this recepy. I will make it this evening. Have one question I know Spanish people love chillantro to in there recepy,s. But you always take parsely, is there a reason for that.?

      Mexican people love cilantro. In Perú we use it too, but we also decorate with parsley like the people from Spain.

    The hardest thing about this recipe is waiting 5 minutes before putting in the eggs! I have made this over a half dozen times and I think I made it twice... so good!

    Hey Albert! What do you recommend to do with this dish if I'm vegan? Should I just keep the thing as it is without adding eggs or should I add a substitute indgridient?
