Ok here’s an idea for a bit of an interesting but possibly very easy challenge: Any Pokemon game with only one move except hidden power and no copies of Pokemon. Basically you can have any Pokemon you want and have a full team of six but you can only use one move throughout the entire run, it can be tackle, flamethrower or even struggle it’s your choice, and you cannot have 2 of the same Pokemon on your team. Again could be easy but I think it could be interesting to do.

SeraphOfChaos1 I don’t see how I’m wrong I was just explaining how you don’t ‘take’ or ‘choose’ your fossil in platinum like you do in other main series games like red or blue
This challenge always makes my wish the stadium animations were in the mainline games. Chill Abra just floating up with uncontrolled jiggling to cast all it's moves is so great. I picture some sort of flailing headbutt for return.
I just had an idea. How about, instead of choosing 1 Pokémon and trying to beat the game by leveling it to an absurd degree, you make a full team of 6 Pokémon, whatever Pokémon you want, but you can only level them up to level 30 or some absurdly low level. This way it's all about strategy and you could possibly make completely new teams for every roadblock you face. I'm sure you could make something interesting around that.

You were the first pokemon challenge I watched awhile back and I've decided to do a bug team challenge in pokemon Y with your same rules for fun, thanks for helping me pass the time during the grind
Awesome video once again my man, the real MVP of the pokemon challenge community, I actually was inspired by your in game trades videos, and made "gift pokemon only" challenges, and they've actually done really well, so thank you for inspiring me to do that :)
Here's one I thought of for you: Pokemon Crystal with only "fairy" Pokemon, or Pokemonn who will become fairy type. So you're down to: Clefa, Clefairy, Clefable, Igglybuff, Jigglypuff, Wigglytuff, Mr. Mime, Togepi, Togetic, Marill, Azumarill, Snubbull, & Granbull
My original thought was Gen 1 with only “fairies”, might be better? And maybe a ‘no TM’ stipulation? Otherwise it might just be more fun than challenging
Actually I thought about it: He’ll have to do the first two gyms with only Jiggly and Togepi, can catch Marill and Snubull before Whitney, and hope the random egg is a Cleffa. Otherwise Clefairy and Mr. Mime are only available in Kanto
I’m assuming here MDB will start with Jiggly since you can catch one early anyway. Gotta do Falkner with just that since you get the egg after. Got to fight Bugsy and rival with just those two (Gastly will suck). Should catch Marill ASAP since both Morty and Chuck will be brutal with just normal types! Out of six available Pokemon lines, only four (with a chance of a fifth) are available before Kanto.
Abra is my favorite pokemon ever, I even tried to breed a perfect one in Platinum once. Too bad he is so fragile and hard to level, but he's still awesome! Thanks for the video!
White with only one type for an entire team Here are the options of moves that anyone can reply for In comments Ice Bug Rock Normal Reply to which you want Rules: no items Up to 6 pokemon only and no switching Pokémon around No legends or mythical s No dual types only pure types
As A BRAzilian, I can confirm that it is a comedy gold. After all, in portuguese, "Abra" is the imperative form of the verb "Abrir", which means "To Open", so there are jokes with it using the antonym of "Abrir", and that is "Fechar", or in the imperative form, "Feche", meanwhile, its name is way too next to "Abril", the name of the forth month that we are into, so you can call him as ANY other month in portuguese
He's planning so far ahead with EVs now. I'm so proud. EDIT: I think Shadow Ball would've helped with the Double Battle at Mt. Coronet. But I don't know how useful it would be after that. Mighta helped then and there, though.
Needing to grind 10,000 coins is giving me traumatic flashbacks to trying to get the Explosion tm in gen 4. Those Clefairy always left after 9 bonus rounds.
Uhhhh.... If you use Amulet Coin + Vs Seeker and fight the old lady and old man outside tha mansion you can grind money VERY quickly. I do this all the time :')
"... and make a fossil joke while you're at it, because I'm unoriginal and tell the same joke in almost every episode." I mean, the joke is still funny. I enjoy it every time. :)
I’ve always wanted to try an all-in-game trade play through of DP/platinum. So it’ll surely be a great video to watch ! Looking forward to it my-dry-bread 😂😂
Thanks for doing these challenges. You're my six year old sons favourite RUclipsr and thanks to your videos he wanted to do his own challenge on let's go Pikachu. Bug type only. Thanks again.
I tuned out for a bit because you had a few too many call to actions but by shifting it to the end with just a couple of pop ups in the middle I can concentrate on the video. Really great change!
Challenge Idea:The Dreadnought Challenge 1) Any pokemon game aside from Gen 1 is fine (leaving out gen 1 due to the bugs and AI) 2) You are allowed any pokemon of your choice aside from legendry or pseudo-legendary. 3) You can only use 1 pokemon in battle. 4) If your pokemon can evolve, it must start at its weakest form, however, you are allowed to evolve your pokemon. 5) Only held items in combat 6) Your only allowed damaging moves require you to charge for one round before firing or moves that require you to recharge next turn. Example: solarbeam and hyperbeam 7) Your moves cannot make you invulnerable to most attacks before attacking. Example Dig and Fly 8) You're not allowed to have a weather move to make charged attacks fire instantly, such as sunny day and solar beam. The idea of this challenge is exactly as the name suggests, you fire one large damaging move, but you're unable to act for one turn, effectively making you a large dreadnought powering up its massive weapons, or having to cool back down before firing them again. There are quite a few moves of various types that fit into this category so type coverage shouldn't be an issue.
I’ve been binge playing shining pearl since it came out. I never got around to getting Pearl when I was younger. But I’m stuck on the psychic elite four trainer and now I know I can just cheese with double team and shock wave! Thanks mahdrybread :)
This is unrelated to this video, but I’m playing Pokemon Yellow for the first time while watching this, and I’m trying to level up a level 12 zubat. It only knows leech life and supersonic, it doesn’t learn bite until level 15. I keep trying to fight with it for max experience, but OMG it is so frustrating and I don’t wish it on my worst enemy. Ok, rant over.
@@pcu9284 I’m catching and training ALL the Pokemon. I’ll only use some as my main team for battle, but I’m leveling all the Pokemon I catch. I actually like grinding, it’s just frustrating when they don’t have any good attack moves.
A Pokémon loses friendship values everytime it faints. So unless you did any soft-reset, it's not really a surprise that level-grinding didn't increase your damage from return ... Very nice challenge though, your videos are always the highlight of the week!
I remember Fantina being so difficult facing her with my Kadabra. I remember I was considering double team but I hate strats with that much RNG, so I ended up using substitute + disable to stop shadow ball on mismagius and then blast it with psybeam. Much more consistent.
Yeah this went about how I expected. Abra is painfully weak defensively but despite it being a 1st stage pokemon, it has impressive SpA and Spe stats. Once the offense train starts going it has no brakes.
This reminds me of how I beat Pokémon Pearl with Kazza, who evolved into Kadabra. Just used Psychic, Psybeam, Psycho Cut, and Shock Wave. I was a child at the time who was very new to Pokémon.
Such a short and sweet one! Remembering how godlike kadabra was, and how good it's TM coverage is, I'm not surprised it turned into a sweep apart from the unavoidable double battle. I plugged it in an old video, but I'm going to plug a slakoth challenge again. Having every opponent get a chance to do something with every one of their pokemon should mitigate and of these crazy no-contest sweeps, and it would be cool to see how low a level you can become champion at. Emerald seems like the obvious choice to me on this one, but if it could be run on ORAS that might be even cooler. Speaking of emerald, and platinum, what about a battle island challenge? Pyramid Gold with a team of unevolved starters at level 50 in emerald would be pretty cool to watch since you can't outlevel your opponents.
I'll try one more time to suggest my challenge idea. Hopefully it would allow a bit more strategy, as you'd need to think your way around the randomness. I'm calling it poke-roulette, but the name is open for revisions. Basically, you must always throw at least 1 pokeball at every wild pokemon you encounter, and you can only use the 6 most recent pokemon you've caught in battle. So once you catch your 7th pokemon, you have to dump your starter for it! Also, you always have to buy the most powerful pokeball (poke/great/ultra) available. And no buying Repels; only the ones you find on the ground can be used! Standard no items in battle stuff (except the pokeball pocket, of course!). Since you need a game... I'd say HeartGold, as it's my favourite? Also, for all your runs you should start using Battle Mode: Set, like you have your standard No Items rule. In single pokemon runs it'll make things faster due to fewer text boxes, and in multi- pokemon runs you can't switch for free after every knockout. Cheers! I'm enjoying the series, obviously :) .
11:14 this is YOUR footage? Cuz if so, you just got a shiny Clefairy in the mini game, that's rare, i think... Edit: It might be rare but it's unobtainable shiny sooo (Also sorry for my english, i'm trying :( i swear )
The Shiny Clefairy thing is a gimmick unique to the Gen 4 Game Corner. Notice that it's on the bottom screen. While the bottom screen has a Clefairy at the slots, you're in a bonus round. If it turns shiny, the bonus is increased.
*gets home drunk Ofcourse got dropped off by a friend* Oh awesome MDB posted a video can’t wait to watch this and pass tf out ****PREMIERE TOMORROW**** GOD DAMMIT
I'm not certain about this specific double battle, but it's often beneficial to kill your partner's first (or first couple) pokemon if you're struggling, as their other teamates might be better suited to help you, or at least less useless than a munchlax.
It makes sense that a glass cannon like Abra would struggle with a double battle, as its best defense is taking out the enemy before it can get a hit in, but all your attacks are single target, so at best you only prevent one attack via KO
Mad respects to you. I tried to run through Platinum with a Happiny and trust me, it is NOT fun at all. I managed to beat Fantina at lvl 70+ with pure luck. The rest was pretty easy up until Candice, and the hell that was Distortion World Cyrus. Sadly I got stuck at the rival battle before the Elite 4 so it's a failed run and now with my computer busted, I can't do any more challenges. Thankfully I got you channel to watch!
One fun little trick for the Mars/Jupiter fight on Mt Coronet is to kill the Rival’s Munchlax. His other Pokemon are far more helpful to you in that battle.
Kats So would a 20 bp grass attack coming from high sp attack be better than a super effective 40 bp move that would also steal sitrus berries? Also keeping in mind ghost types tend to have more sp defense than regular defense? Seems like a no brainer to me
Challenge idea, “the calm after the storm”; You can only heal after beating a ‘boss’. Those are the rival, gym leader, tram admin/leader, and elite 4 member. Game over if you lose a battle, save scumming allowed because this is pokemon and starting midway vs starting at the beginning makes virtually no difference outside of time. No items in and out of battle, no held items. You are allowed to use items to heal after a ‘boss’ fight, but you void the ability to use the pokemon center in that instance. You must attempt to go to pokemon/healing center after a ‘boss’ fight, if you take detours to train or progress story, you void the ability to use the pokemon center in that instance. You are allowed to finish trainers and wild pokemon in the route you beat the ‘boss’ in and towards the pokemon center, but try to keep it in good faith. You are allowed to progress forward if the next stop is a pokemon center, ie beating rival wally in victory road allows you to move forward since the next stop after victory road is the pokemon center. Swapping or withdrawing pokemon from the box is only allowed when healing at a pokemon center, this includes for hm slaves. Depositing pokemon whenever is allowed. The idea is that you’re weathering tide after tide of struggles, only to be allowed to breath in the moment after beating a ‘boss’.
Gz on this run! Y'know... I knew Abra had speed and special sweeping potential, and ofc new it doesn't learn anything but Teleport, but I defo didn't expect it to be this bad for one of these runs! This was interesting.

SeraphOfChaos1 he never does >.
SeraphOfChaos1 you don’t really choose your fossils in platinum, it’s dependent on your trainer ID
@@emma_the_emma8480 That's the joke. Because he never went to the underground, he never told us what fossil he got.
You fool he wants us to ask because comments are good for the RUclips algorithm
SeraphOfChaos1 I don’t see how I’m wrong I was just explaining how you don’t ‘take’ or ‘choose’ your fossil in platinum like you do in other main series games like red or blue
This challenge always makes my wish the stadium animations were in the mainline games. Chill Abra just floating up with uncontrolled jiggling to cast all it's moves is so great. I picture some sort of flailing headbutt for return.
Why is it that your delivery of “And I think ASH KETCHUM knows a liiittle bit more than WE do” is so funny?
The sarcasm is strong with MDB
I just had an idea. How about, instead of choosing 1 Pokémon and trying to beat the game by leveling it to an absurd degree, you make a full team of 6 Pokémon, whatever Pokémon you want, but you can only level them up to level 30 or some absurdly low level. This way it's all about strategy and you could possibly make completely new teams for every roadblock you face. I'm sure you could make something interesting around that.
3 Words:
Don’t trust Ash
tru dat
Why
Why?
Why?
WHY?!
Ash sucks
If the anime was like the actual games, he would be terrible
and I can argue
@@muskart7648 he's still suprised that all the nurses look the same.
@@DSmittie Ash logic 101:
- This tournament is filled with the strongest Pokemon... better go grab Bulbasaur and Squirtle from Oak.
- Oh, my Pokemon can evolve? Nah I don't want them to grow up
- A level 5 Snivy? Better use my level 100 Pika... oh wait I lost.
- Going to a rock gym. Nah I'll just use Pikachu.
- Everyone including Mewtwo: Your Charizard is poorly trained
Ash: *continues to neglect training*
You were the first pokemon challenge I watched awhile back and I've decided to do a bug team challenge in pokemon Y with your same rules for fun, thanks for helping me pass the time during the grind
What fossil did you get, it’s good for the algorithm
Idk, maybe the armor fossil
I think it was the helix fossil
Definitely the jaw fossil
Awesome video once again my man, the real MVP of the pokemon challenge community, I actually was inspired by your in game trades videos, and made "gift pokemon only" challenges, and they've actually done really well, so thank you for inspiring me to do that :)
"I think Ash Ketchum knows a little bit more than we do." Oh yeah, Ash "release all my pokemon" Ketchum sure knows a lot about pokemon. *rolls eyes*
"Ash ketchum knows more than we do"
Me: *Laughs in Tackle Attack*
🤣🤣
Here's one I thought of for you:
Pokemon Crystal with only "fairy" Pokemon, or Pokemonn who will become fairy type.
So you're down to:
Clefa, Clefairy, Clefable, Igglybuff, Jigglypuff, Wigglytuff, Mr. Mime, Togepi, Togetic, Marill, Azumarill, Snubbull, & Granbull
Sounds a bit to easy
My original thought was Gen 1 with only “fairies”, might be better?
And maybe a ‘no TM’ stipulation?
Otherwise it might just be more fun than challenging
Actually I thought about it:
He’ll have to do the first two gyms with only Jiggly and Togepi, can catch Marill and Snubull before Whitney, and hope the random egg is a Cleffa.
The inspiration for the name of Cranidos is "cranium" which refers to the skull. It is pronounced "cray-knee-dose"
Isn't cranium a latin word? And definitely not pronounced cray-knee-um
Dam Nation in english, the word cranium is pronounced that way, idk about other languages
@@bobbob-iv4we okay then. I think Cranidos is an american dub, so it kinda makes sense that it's based on the american version of the word
Yes Joel Vanderlaan because we just ignore and move on
Your videos have given me something to look forward to weekly during my deployment, thank you for your videos!
Thank you man!
“Let’s do one with more move variety”

How dare you not name it "A Bra" that stuffs comedy gold
A Brah broski.
It’s perfect
It's perfect
But also predictable
As A BRAzilian, I can confirm that it is a comedy gold. After all, in portuguese, "Abra" is the imperative form of the verb "Abrir", which means "To Open", so there are jokes with it using the antonym of "Abrir", and that is "Fechar", or in the imperative form, "Feche", meanwhile, its name is way too next to "Abril", the name of the forth month that we are into, so you can call him as ANY other month in portuguese
I remember watching this when it first came out. 4 years MDB, 4 years. I'm proud of your perseverance.
I honestly didn't expect you to ever see this but thank you MDB! Also what fossil did you pick, comments are good for the RUclips algorithm after all.
He's planning so far ahead with EVs now. I'm so proud.
EDIT: I think Shadow Ball would've helped with the Double Battle at Mt. Coronet. But I don't know how useful it would be after that. Mighta helped then and there, though.
I love reading the beginning bits, and I understand why for some of the past couple you haven't changed them from the script. Keep it up MDB!
My guy, your voice is so calming in a way that whenever I cant sleep I turn on one of your videos and I finally relax
"... and make a fossil joke while you're at it, because I'm unoriginal and tell the same joke in almost every episode."
I mean, the joke is still funny. I enjoy it every time. :)
I’ve always wanted to try an all-in-game trade play through of DP/platinum. So it’ll surely be a great video to watch ! Looking forward to it my-dry-bread 😂😂
Do Pokémon emerald with only one wooper.
THX FOR ALMOST 200 likes
And name him whopper XD
THIS NEEDS TO BE A PINNED COMMENT
mudikp is a discount whooper and fight me if i'm wrong, hahah!
But is a funny one to read, but not so funny to do
wooper is actually mad good my guy
10/10 just enough wooper
Okay but can you beat Pokémon while only using Teleport
For a plug:
When you find a fossil, set it up as the usual joke but then say you chose the Joey fossil and they remind us to follow you on twitter
If you don't soft reset, you end up getting the exp from pokemon you've beaten, eventually getting levels up if you keep losing.
I never liked the way Skuntank's battle sprite looked. It looks like it's about to pee on it's opponent.
Which is really fitting since... y'know it's a skunk
Keep this series alive !
Wow the “TWITTER” poorly written on the poke watch every so often really got me
Thanks for doing these challenges. You're my six year old sons favourite RUclipsr and thanks to your videos he wanted to do his own challenge on let's go Pikachu. Bug type only.
Thanks again.
"I think ash knows about pokemon more than we do"
You sure about that one, chief?
Ya true
I tuned out for a bit because you had a few too many call to actions but by shifting it to the end with just a couple of pop ups in the middle I can concentrate on the video. Really great change!
Challgeng suggestion:
beat pokemon black 2 with togepi and pichu
beat pokemon white 2 with cleffa and happiny
Challenge Idea:The Dreadnought Challenge
1) Any pokemon game aside from Gen 1 is fine (leaving out gen 1 due to the bugs and AI)
2) You are allowed any pokemon of your choice aside from legendry or pseudo-legendary.
3) You can only use 1 pokemon in battle.
4) If your pokemon can evolve, it must start at its weakest form, however, you are allowed to evolve your pokemon.
5) Only held items in combat
6) Your only allowed damaging moves require you to charge for one round before firing or moves that require you to recharge next turn. Example: solarbeam and hyperbeam
7) Your moves cannot make you invulnerable to most attacks before attacking. Example Dig and Fly
8) You're not allowed to have a weather move to make charged attacks fire instantly, such as sunny day and solar beam.
“and I think Ash knows a little more than we do” can we really say that about a person who doesn’t even know type advantages?
Ok, rant over.
zu bat isn't worth it, golbat can't even learn fly, if you want a flier get charzard or a fearow
@@pcu9284 I’m catching and training ALL the Pokemon. I’ll only use some as my main team for battle, but I’m leveling all the Pokemon I catch. I actually like grinding, it’s just frustrating when they don’t have any good attack moves.

Wait isn't there a tm for hidden power in the jubilife school?

17:07 Omg I don't remember Raichu's sprite in Platinum being so cute~!!! That kitty mouth~
I'm watching through your platinum run right now and i agree, it is hilarious and terrible and hilarious.
Also gen 6 with only first form ice types?
Good choice using the game corner music during the intro. Hearing this theme could bring me to watch anything.
hey you. yeah you right there behind the screen.
have a good day! now get out there and catch em all!
That was a great comment!
Slice of PIE thank you. I thought it was thematically appropriate to the video.
A Pokémon loses friendship values everytime it faints. So unless you did any soft-reset, it's not really a surprise that level-grinding didn't increase your damage from return ...
Very nice challenge though, your videos are always the highlight of the week!
sneasel : i can one shot u
abra : *intense sweating*
sneasel: REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Abra : rip my ears
Abra :* defeats sneasel*
Abra: OK
I remember Fantina being so difficult facing her with my Kadabra. I remember I was considering double team but I hate strats with that much RNG, so I ended up using substitute + disable to stop shadow ball on mismagius and then blast it with psybeam. Much more consistent.
After every challenge you have done so far, im sure you can beat the game with Abra ;)
edit: You have the patience of a god!!
I love the look of everything in the gen 4 games! also you have a lot of patience, props.
"Abra spelled backwards is Arba, and that's hilarious."
Abra with a space in it is "a bra". 👙
I name my abra a bra
Yeah this went about how I expected. Abra is painfully weak defensively but despite it being a 1st stage pokemon, it has impressive SpA and Spe stats. Once the offense train starts going it has no brakes.
Me: haha I love how MDB always plugs his Twitter into the bottom screen
MDB: *END THE PAIN*
*geNeric twwiter plug*
19:49 for anyone who inevitably says I spelled it wrong
This reminds me of how I beat Pokémon Pearl with Kazza, who evolved into Kadabra. Just used Psychic, Psybeam, Psycho Cut, and Shock Wave. I was a child at the time who was very new to Pokémon.
When you brought up Ash I was like, "What does he know? He's lost like every tournament he's entered." lmfao
He is the champion of Alola...
dose Aloa even count
@@eeveestars3668 yes
One out of at least nine is not good lmao
“I think ash knows a little bit more than us.”
Oh yea the the guy that pronounced hippopatas,
Hipoe-poe-toss
Oh yeah, back then when he still was new to pokémon
@@Teo-kq8in considering gen 4 was a solid 10 years since gen 1, I wouldn't call him new by that point lmao
Edit: It might be rare but it's unobtainable shiny sooo
(Also sorry for my english, i'm trying :( i swear )
The Shiny Clefairy thing is a gimmick unique to the Gen 4 Game Corner. Notice that it's on the bottom screen. While the bottom screen has a Clefairy at the slots, you're in a bonus round. If it turns shiny, the bonus is increased.
Thank you for making these videos I work every other Saturday and when I work it’s a nice highlight of that day
*gets home drunk Ofcourse got dropped off by a friend*
Oh awesome MDB posted a video can’t wait to watch this and pass tf out
****PREMIERE TOMORROW****
GOD DAMMIT
hope you’re feeling better today
I'm not certain about this specific double battle, but it's often beneficial to kill your partner's first (or first couple) pokemon if you're struggling, as their other teamates might be better suited to help you, or at least less useless than a munchlax.
Barry is just a useless partner in general. Even his Staraptor and starter fight like idiots in the Commander Doubke Battle.
I really think that sapphire/ruby/emerald with one kekleon would be cool
It makes sense that a glass cannon like Abra would struggle with a double battle, as its best defense is taking out the enemy before it can get a hit in, but all your attacks are single target, so at best you only prevent one attack via KO
Every "challenge" just ends up being "grind until you win."
I'd be more impressed if you could discover an unwinnable challenge.
He did. The wobbuffet challenge
Beat gold/silver with a poliwag
This would be great. Keep hypnosis, learn blizzard, surf and headbutt/return/hidden power. Very doable since poliwag has decent speed.
Ridwan Thanks i just said that randomly
One fun little trick for the Mars/Jupiter fight on Mt Coronet is to kill the Rival’s Munchlax. His other Pokemon are far more helpful to you in that battle.
Stuck at ghost gym for an hour
Has thief TM which abra can learn
Facepalm
It still wouldn’t have helped much, Abra has trash attack and thief has low power
Super Jordan Reviews I mean when you’re 20-25 levels over I’m sure it would do plenty of damage despite low base attack
Have you seen the stat spread?
Also had earthquake
Kats So would a 20 bp grass attack coming from high sp attack be better than a super effective 40 bp move that would also steal sitrus berries? Also keeping in mind ghost types tend to have more sp defense than regular defense? Seems like a no brainer to me
Getting Hidden Power at the Trainers School would have made this way easier at the beginning.
challenge suggestion:fire red with a single butterfree
Too easy.
Challenge idea, “the calm after the storm”;
You can only heal after beating a ‘boss’.
