You did a great job putting this together, and I especially liked the stat breakdown at the end. Plus you know how to put a story together throughout. Woah! I don't think this was your intention but 1 minute into the video when I saw this was a Gen 5 playthrough I was surprised! I just assumed this would be Gen 1. Good job not drawing attention to it until it was necessary
You can but even in Gen 1 they almost NEVER work and that's even for the WILD pokemon battles that its NOT worth it they also ONLY have like 5 USES of EACH one even in the Gen 1 game where Horn drill is pretty much the ONLY instant kill move.
The thing about OHKO moves in Gen 1 is, you also have to outspeed your opponent in order for the move to land. You're not really gonna see a Rhydon outspeed stuff to land a horn drill. Of course, you can start the battle with an X speed and X accuracy then spam those moves, that's what speedrunners typically do when running Nidoking in the late game, use those then spam fissure (Giovanni gives you that TM in the 8th gym)

Haxorus was on my list of Pokémon that I planned to use. With the late evolution, I got more attached to our other team members (Angela was meant to be replaced)
I'm slightly confused about the rules - you say you won't be altering any movesets, but you edited Lapras to start with three OHKOs. I'd get it if you started with just Sheer Cold, but having both Horn Drill and Fissure on a Lapras isn't even legal in gen5, as they're both egg moves that don't share any parents
By "no altering movesets", I mean that I don't give pokemon any moves that they wouldn't have at max level. Since Excadrill learns Horn Drill, Drilbur is allowed to have it. It's impossible to have OHKO moves at level 1 in most situations, so this edit has to be made. Essentially, I wasn't going to give every Pokémon all 4 moves, rather they'd receive the moves they can actually learn down the line.
35:43 i thonk the fact that some mon were about a level or 2 lower plays a factor as for every level higher the user is to the opponent +1 is added to accuracy so for time when the ace was 24 but you were fighting a lv 23 mon the OHKO moves had 31 accuracy
Definitely played a small factor, with the additional 0.8% per level. But I do think we ended up around 2-2.5% higher than what the accuracy should've been

This could've been a clever option, but Smeargle's low defensive stats means it likely would die to most Pokémon before the extended moveset could be used. At least that was the thought process
@@hershy926 Destroyed the Elite 4 and anything harder with those moves. I did hear that they become more reliable with slower pokemon, which are the ones I used for that very reason.

Sheer Cold is technically the best OHKO move since no type is immune to ice
Yeah, got nerfed in gen 7 though. Ice types are immune to sheer cold now.
OH-KO moves have more accuracy against opponents with a lower level. It's 1% more for each level difference.
Yep, I mentioned that at the start! It goes up by 0.8% each time. That's why I followed a level cap
