  • Here's how I changed the starter in my 2004 Silverado 1500. This will likely apply for 1999-2006 models.
I ordered a Bosch SR8631X rebuilt starter from rockauto.com, then returned the core for credit.
Remember to disconnect the battery, apply the parking brake, chock the wheels appropriately, and safely jack up the vehicle when performing this kind of work!
    Thanks!

It’ll be SO NICE to have the truck start right up like that!
    Thank you for sharing!

This is the best video I've seen regarding subject matter. I'm not a fan of narrating diy mechanic work. Its annoying because 100 percent of you tubers just talk out of there ass. . Your vid ain't no exception but its tolerable. You stay on topic and don't off on tangents and go over the history of a starter solenoid . Thanks for going over the heat shield. Thanks for going over every bolt .
    Nicely done video !

    Thx for the vid.
I found it easier to pop out the inner fender liner and get to the wires with about a foot of 1/4 extensions and a universal swivel.

The sensor wire in the engine block by the starter , is that the cam sensor... ? You should replace it along with the starter... Or if the cam sensor goes bad replace the starter also... ?

Mine just stopped out of nowhere, maybe a couple iffy sounding starts but I didn’t think it was the starter. Woke up to goto work and bam no start with a full battery
