Top notch review. all the info good and bad. great side jokes and inspired video work with composition and close ups. best review team in the business.
This really makes me wonder why fuji released the X-H1. Why not wait a year and release it with the X-T3 sensor and processor now? would be seriously pissed if i had just bought one. That being sais though. Damn this looks like a nice upgrade for existing X-T3 shooters.
Actually, they sort of did. The battery life is still terrible so if you want to shoot a full day (without swapping out batteries) you need the grip. Although the key video features do not require the battery grip, to fully explore that great new burst rate you need the grip. Without it, the buffer is going to fill up after one burst.
Adding the battery grip increases the available power and the rate at which the buffer will clear. (That is direct from a Fuji rep) All the video functions are there without the grip, but because the battery life and power output is so bad you need 3 (and therefore the grip) to really make it the sports, action, or wildlife camera it is being touted.
Benjamin Freddie I was thinking I’d just get the X-H1, but after seeing this I think I’ll just pre-order the X-T3. It is the future with new processor and sensor.
I love the X-H1, too. I'd have gotten the X-H1 ahead of the X-T2 if it had been available. I far prefer the aesthetics of the X-H1, and it took me a while to warm to the X-T2 form-factor after having used an X-Pro1 for so long. My next Fuji-X will be an X-H2, though I may get an X-T30 or something in the meantime (or an affordable GFX to use my old VM/ZM lenses on...)
Get the X-H1 discounted :D It's an amazing camera... You get IBIS and better ergonomics in some areas (amazing shutter mechanism, top plate screen, large grip) and you get IBIS! If you don't need IBIS at all, the X-T3 is also interesting with its improved AF.
Beautiful stills and footage guys. Camera reviewers who can really shoot are a huge asset to this industry. The X-T3 looks like an amazing body. I have a T-2 and the improved autofocus tracking and locking diopter were the things that I'm happiest to see here.
Right? I haven't seen so many releases since i started shooting in 2014. I still love dslrs and they got better but this feels like the early 2000s when every new camera or mp3 player was a marvel
I have to ask if you guys have noticed any improvement in dynamic range or low light shooting noise performance. I was hoping with a BSI sensor it would see a marked improvement. The lower base ISO suggests more dynamic range but no word yet on that.
This will be a killer camera. $1499 is a great price. Unlike the lazy designs and very high price "let's milk our loyal fans" of the upcoming Canon and Nikon mirrorless cameras, the X-T3 has both great ergonomics and brings something new to the table. The new Microprism super peaking will be fantastic for Manual lenses.
As an X-T1 user, after not caring much for the 2.. this thing looks seriously nutty, with the face detection focus, the tracking, the etterna and video quality.. holy shit, if only it had IBIS. I might just have to save for this anyway.
I still shoot with an X-T1 and all the small F2 WR primes. I’ve rented the XT-2 and X-H1 and came away unimpressed. This X-T3 looks like a giant step up from the X-T1. And did u notice the quality of video - especially the graded F-log footage? Holy smokes. I’d rather have a kick a$$ stills camera without ibis that travels small and light and bring a gimbal with me if I plan on doing extended video shoots.
great review guys. Ordered this baby within 30 minutes of its launch. I was introduced to the X-T2 at a violin recital for my daughters violin concert by another dad. I was very impressed. The are smart buggas - I sold my entire Canon pro setup including all L series lenses and bought an XT-20 with three lenses to play with. Was amazed at the ability to capture light in ways I had to struggle with post production before. Have traveled and lived from Tibet to Chile and Europe and Canon was my backbone. Now, I am selling the XT-20 and all but the 35 f2.0, and buying over $4,000 worth of equipment and I am far from a well off guyI plan to shoot with this camera for the next 5 years, possibly adding another body as they amaze me even more in the future. I was a Nikon shooter for 20 years, and Canon for 16, so this is a big jump. GOOD AMAZING JOB, FUJI!!
Another example of a cool and very accurate first impression review. I don't know how you manage to so fluid but it makes the difference. Anyway as a OM-D EM-1 & EM-5 Mii I feel very frustrated as nothing comes up. Coz they also make very classy cameras.
For action/sports or video shooters the X-T3 seems a nice upgrade. For pro portrait photogs the X-H1 still looks better as it has better ergonomics and IBIS as well as that lovely shutter
This is the best mirrorless in the mirrorless market. Sony, Canon and Nikon are huge mirrorless!!!!!.....with HUGE lenses!!! Fujifilm is the only brand that offers something special with its aps-c and medium format cameras
Wow, take that, Canon! Looks awesome! Biggest upset is the lack of focus tracking in video, same battery as before, no IBIS and no flippy screen (like X-T100). However, if you already enjoy the Fuji platform, this looks to be the best Fuji yet. Can't wait to check out the final review and get some sensor measurements to see the improvements with this BSI sensor.
true..! I'm thinking.. This seems to be a brilliant camera. They really need a new battery , though.. Makes me wonder about the X-H2 .. which will probably give them a solid place way up there, on the market competition. Have i mentioned that .. they need a new battery ?? :P
I like how Fuji provides model variation to appeal to different ways of doing things. Big X-Trans fan here. Also a fan of the present X-T2 screen articulation for compact portrait configuration. X-Txxx + X-Ax are there for Bayer-fans and vario-angle fans or vlogging. X-Hx is there for smoothniks. I really prefer the X-Trans output compared with Fuji's Bayer output (at least with X-Pro1 & X-T2.) I love you Fuji.
Great review video! I'm so excited to buy the Fuji X-T3 for filmmaking. I'm using the Fuji X-T2 until now but I'm looking forward to the new autofocus and the new 4K 60fps movie mode.
no ibis, no 4k fullframe, no Canon EF mount, no double tap shutter button, average file encryption, electromagnetic wave hazard due to wifi, no internal SSD, no usb hub, way over my 150£ budget, if you keep reading this you hopefully understood it is an ironic comment.
it would be funny but no one is really complaining about this camera. I am not even a fuji user at all but I know a bang for the buck and a hard working company that listens when i see it.
You guys just crack me up with your banter...and AF on my XH1 has yet to confuse anyone’s face with a garbage can. I love your reviews and I honestly think you guys are among the best out there! I’m quite happy with my XH1 (it took some amazing pics and vids on my China trip last month) for now, but I am really looking forward to your review of the XH2 when it comes out.
Looooved this video! Just Got my own Fujifilm X-T3 and your videos are part of the reason. I actually did a video with my first impression of the camera, and I gotta day, I was surprised. I’ve used canon my whole photography life, but it’s always felt like the shoe didn’t quite fit right with me. The style and feeling of canon just wasn’t my cup of tea. Now the shoe finally fits and I feel more motivated than ever, with my Fuji xt3.
For video it is amazing. Absolutely incredible. *But for photography* ,are the improvements really make it worth upgrading to from an X-T2 for example?
Perhaps their anology is that the quality difference between apsc and full frame is low and that the size benefit of apsc for the lenses and camera body essentially make a full frame version redundant. Instead they make medium format body which is a substantial upgrade in terms of image quality (albeit at a greater price difference as compared to an apsc and full frame). I personally like their strategy... If someone wants a small system with good image quality Fuji got them covered. If they want a large system with great image quality, Fuji has something for them as well... They just didn't bother with full frame. The lenses for full frame cameras are quite large and perhaps the incremental quality gain from full frame system was thought to be pointless. So they went one step higher and make medium format (affordable medium format)
@moo I've only ever shot on apsc. And occasionally on friends' full frame systems. I'd never seen a large enough difference in quality to warrant a change in system from apsc to full frame. However the difference between medium format and apsc seems very substantial. I might be wrong here. What disadvantages are we talking about with medium format compared to full frame (apart from the obvious weight difference in the kits and lenses)
Understood! I'd always thought full frame was pointless when we had APSC... It is the otherway around. Medium format is pointless when we have full frame! I'd never had the chance to shoot in medium format (and probably never will :-) )
Yes, but they should! That is where the competition is! Medium format is way too expensive for most to consider and the fps is almost non existent.......
I think Fujifilm will do a full frame next year... probably they work already on a possible prototype in case the selling will go to Canon and Nikon... If not, the cheapest APS-C system will still get the most profit (that would be Canon with the Rebel line, of course).
Full phase detection coverage is a game changer for me. I tended to just use the big square as my autofocus mode on the xt2 because contrast detect af is too slow for street photography so you basically had to use single point or just select the center phase zone.
FYI, X-T2 does have boost mode that you can use WITHOUT GRIP. Please don't provide incorrect information and misguide users. Having said that you are not the only one... Many others have misunderstood this BOOST feature on X-T2 grip... Many think that you can get BOOST only with grip. that is not true. Even without grip yes through menus but you can turn high performance (BOOST) mode ON on X-T2. I was actually surprised to see that coming from you as I still regard you and few other youtubers at higher standard of knowledge and quality content. Thanks for another nice first impressions, video though!
Canons colours have always been really good and one could argue the benchmark, my 80D always films warm, but the 1080 like my Phantom 3 pro in 1080 is a little soft IMHO from an amateur, where my Panasonic TZ110 films cooler but sharper, this was just crisp and really nice colours, hard to explain
You can't go wrong with Fuji. Great IQ, great colours, amazing usability and, what's more important - unbeatable bang for the buck in the lens department. That 56mm 1.2 alone is worth switching for - razor sharp wide open. Also, I've used X-E3, and if autofocus on this X-T3 is even better than that, and still not enough for someone - then someone should learn to use their gear first.
This is very exciting. Thank you. I had some reservations and thought that full frame was the future. I was nonplussed by the Nikon and Canon offers, so, I’m going to double down on the Fuji. I preordered the XT3 and will no unreservedly invest in the Fuji. I just love the work you are doing. Who knew that Calgary and Seattle are the center of the photography world!
I should have listened to everyone and just simply waited for the X-T3 instead of the X-H1 or really I should have just got the damn Sony a7iii in the end there’s no reason I shouldn’t just make the move to FF.. the benefits are undeniable regardless of it being small improvements.
Autofocus looks amazing. How Jordan ran from left to right pretty fast and it kept up. The Eye autofocus is also very good! Beautifull 4K as well! Can't wait to have these settings with IBIS in the X-H2 whenever that may come out. I think IBIS is the only thing missing to kill competition. But then again.. Fuji said it like half a year ago it would not get IBIS. Only X-H series get it. Beautifull review guys!
Always watch your reviews very informative plus you both have a great sense of humor you make me smile at some of your comments. Great viewing thanks Chris.
What kind of DP/camera operator uses auto-focus or needs a selfie-oriented screen on the back? For filmmaking purposes, the XT-3 is fantastic. You're going to be using manual focus, always pointing the camera forward (so you don't care about a flip screen), and most likely utilizing the f-log with an external recorder. I purchased this camera after being a tad bit disappointed with the newest Black Magic camera and it has blown me away. Can't wait to dig into the world of Fuji lenses.
Thanks for the review. Definitely interested in this camera. Two things 1)the non flip out screen is very frustrating and maybe a deal breaker. 2) the video looked a little flat/uninspired(?) compared to your normal videos. Not terrible but a bit odd.
IMHO IBIS only makes a difference with the XF90mm or for video when moving. Battery life, I can live with it. I shot 12h weddings with two bodies and only 2 or 2 and a half Fujifilm official batteries. One trick is to turn the bodies off when not shooting (even for 30 sec) and disable rear LCD automaticly when your eye is in the EVF.
I am excited to upgrade from X-T2 to this camera but the main drawbacks you mentioned aren't things they can improve in a firmware update. (Battery life, flip-out LCD screen, and IBIS).
So Torn between buying this or A7 iii. IBIS & FF are making me lean towards Sony but color science & 10bit HDR is preventing it. Please make a side-by-side comparison video
Another great review guys. I watch a lot of the RUclipsr camera channels, and I really think your reviews are the best and most watchable! Keep up the good work :)
Great first impressions. The X-T3 looks like such an awesome camera, with the only drawbacks I can think of being the lack of IBIS and the mediocre battery life. Fingers crossed Fuji addresses the both of them with the X-H2!
I keep hearing Chris say, “Welcome back TCS Viewers...”. I had to rewind it 3 times to understand he was saying DPTV haha. Good work DPReview picking these guys up. Best camera reviews on the internet!
Is it just me or does the video have a green hue? Not particularly surprised, as I used to often use Fuji's film for that very reason, slightly more green than my usual Kodak Gold. Also love seeing some cool city shots (the geometry of tall buildings against the sky). Nicely done.
I'm a Fuji user (X-Pro-2) and must admit I'm underwhelmed. Incremental improvements at best. The same terrible battery life, no IBIS, and you still really need the battery grip to fully unlock it's potential. (The buffer will fill after one burst unless you have the grip) That brings it up to almost $1800 and that's just too close to the a7III to sway anyone but a diehard Fuji shooter. If you're an X-t1 shooter (and love it) this makes sense, I'm just not sure there aren't better options for those not already in the system. (FYI, I am 4 lenses into the Fuji system and still considering a switch to Sony) BTW, that garbage can was pretty lifelike. :-)
Disappointing video specs though: - 4K60 works for "approx 20min" (sounds like an "overheating" limit to me) - 4K60 is cropped 1.18x - video files are split at 4GB (haven't they heard of formatting SD cards with exFAT instead of FAT32?) - 10bit video internally is 4:2:0 only - HLG (HDR) not yet available (but they say will come by end of year firmware update, not sure if 4:2:0 follows HLG spec, I thought 4:2:2 had to be the HLG spec) - no IBIS is no good for video and photo (means gimball compulsory for shots off tripod) - battery life way too short means Battery grip is compulsory but goes through 5+ batteries in 1 days of video shooting. - LCD is not very bright and does not flip to the side like the cheaper XT100 sadly (which rules out a lot of types of video shooting) They seem to say H265 is available to be used for every framerate and resolution, is that correct? That would be very exciting to me. NX1 (of 5 years ago) was first to do H265 but wasn't RUclips compatible (also didn't have IBIS short video length limits due overheating and short battery life), Panasonic GH5 can only do a couple modes in H265 only like HLG 4K30 and 6K30. I think it'd be awesome to be able to film any framerate and resolution in H265, what are the H265 bitrates keeping the same quality compared with H264? Is it each time half the bitrate when using H265? This would be great and a feature I have asked for over 5 years if they deliver it correctly in a H265 that is compatible with RUclips direct uploading to save on 4K uploading bandwidth.
This is a photography centered camera with additional video capabilities (that's also the reason why there is no IBIS). You want a video centered camera? Wait for XH2...
@@kearress7350 I am waiting for sure. But I thought IBIS was very important for photography too. That it enables you to shoot sharper images at a stop or two stops better quality and brighter. IBIS for photography stabilizes any telephoto lens so you can take photos of things far away without needing a tripod. I am pretty sure that the lack of IBIS is a failure for photography too.
When you do a "full review" of the X-T3, could you also have Jordan describe his mounting of the RODE microphone (shown in your video) on the X-T3. I currently have a RODE Video Mic Pro mounted on my X-T2. Have ordered an X-T3 and would like to upgrade my Video Mic Pro to the Video Mic Pro Plus. Reviews of the Video Mic Pro Plus indicate a "design flaw"- the mic, when mounted directly on the camera, extends beyond the camera, making viewing difficult.
Come on, give them some slack, the m50 is basically like a little brother at 1/3 of the price to this freaking awesome X-T3. Canon seems to sell way to much full frame cameras, if they can still release so underwhelming FF like their new mirrorless or the 6DII I am still in love with this new Fuji. Canon and Nikon releasing new full frame cameras and the winner out of this is Fuji, with a freaking APS-C camera even.
RazRazer actually, No! Take your fanboy cap off and open your eyes! Half the time the video wasn't even truly in-focus. I couldn't tell if it was focused on Chris or the background half the time. Video AF is garbage on this camera.
@@cooloox Its funny to hear that u claim him a fuji fanboy, cause you really sounds like one(canon fanboy i guess?😜)And also funny to hear about bad af in xt3(esepcially now, after one year😏)
I am a Nikon shooter with my D610 and I am considering going mirrorless mainly to reduce size and weight in lenses. I currently have these lenses: Sigma art 35, Nikkor 50 and 85 1.8G, Tokina 17-35 and Nikkor 24-120. Photography is a serious hobby but not my job. I do mainly studio, portrait and real estate photography. I am tempting to switch to the new fuji x-t3. Would I loose quality going to Fuji? I also considered Sony A7iii but lenes are too expensive and Z6 does not attract me by the reviews I have seen.
I've handled a X-T2. From an ergonomic standpoint it was great. The grip was a lot better than the cheaper X-T20. With what looks like very nice video AF and 4k 60fps... wow! That seems like solid hybrid camera that doesn't sacrifice anything from the photo side to make it happen. Though, like you guys were saying, the fully articulating screen would have been preferred by a lot of people.
Looks so far good for me. Glad they didn't change the screen hinge as a selfie screen is useless with an L bracket when you shoot landscapes (folds out the wrong way). Also glad they didn't change the battery form factor although I have two thoughts on that: 1, the X-H line needs a different bigger battery, 2, the X-T line should keep things same size but Fuji need to R&D a higher energy density to stop the complaints. Personally the battery life is no issue for what I shoot and I frequently beat the CIPA rating by a mile.
Wow ! I was just out for some infos about the 35mm f2 on DPreview, and randomly saw some sample pics of the ... X-T3 ??? What ??? Quickly dug a bit deeper and what would you know !? The first impression video just got out today ! Talk about a coincidence ! Great intro to the camera, guys ! As an owner of an X-T20 (while I was gunning for the X-T2 at the time, but didn't have the budget, so I dialed down to the X-T20 instead, and never regretted it, although I'm still dreaming of that sexy graphite look of the X-T2) and an X-H1 (when I did get some budget later on), I was very curious about the coming X-T3. These videos enhancements definitely look VERY attractive. 4K 10 bits video have been desired for a long time (and it's too bad the X-H1 doesn't have that, but anyway, one step at a time) Too bad there isn't an IBIS, here, but that was already announced by Fujifilm long ago, so no surprise here. I guess the IBIS is gonna be a trademark feature of the X-H series (contrary to other people, I don't see Fujifilm trickle it down to their other series any time soon, mostly for camera size reasons, and also, well, to keep selling X-Hs), but I do predict a bigger battery (needed upgrade, since IBIS is very battery-hungry) as well as a flippy screen for the coming X-Hs, which will probably also become one of their trademark features. Talking about the X-T3 again, looks like I'm gonna dig another big hole in my bank account soon (to compensate my missed opportunity to get the X-T2). Maybe selling my cherished X-T20, then...
Wow, Fujifilm really hit a home-run with this release. Especially at that price. All eyes are on you now, Sony. Will you respond, or have you seceded the APS-C crown to Fujifilm?
Thanks for the overview guys! I am in the market for a little more resolution (up from EM5 mkii, which I love). I've been considering the A7iii but lenses cost a fortune and it sort of takes away from the "travelability" of a mirroless camera. I really enjoy macro work which puts my camera on a tripod much of the time but the IBIS is amazing and makes other shots so much easier. I'm undecided on whether or not I want to give that up for the Fuji. I love the Fuji colors and manual dials... Looking forward to your full review... Cheers, Greg
Nice! This is the first Fuji camera that I actually consider to be interesting. Unfortunately the lack of IBIS is a deal-breaker for me, but I'm super excited about the next model in this line, if it has IBIS.
Great preview! What lens was used to record and would you recommend an OIS zoom lens or a prime lens with Gimball for 4k video? Apart done the face AF during during video, what happens when you don't film a person (e.g. animals, objects , fountains etc)?
Hey DPReview! What's up with the XT3 RAW files you uploaded in your comparison tool? Either the XT3's high ISO performance is noticeable worse than the XT2's and Fuji had serious changes done to their colors or you guys had serious trouble with your RAW converter. Can you look into this? It's freaking people out... thanks in advance 😉
Did you guys also test the "pre-shooting" function? ^^ I heard from Fujirumors that X-T3 has a "pre-shooting" function where it already takes pics when you autofocus.
CHAPEAU Fuji!! looks great. I love the "look" of the video beside technicals features has "mojo". Do you know what i mean? a question, the episode was recorded on the atomos or internally? Cheers!
I just bought an XT-20 with the XC 16-50 mm and XC 50-230 mm telephoto lenses all for $800 [all new...not preowned]. I thought that was a great deal. I wanted the XT-3 but economics kicked in. I would be spending at least 3 times the price for the XT-3 with the same lenses. What do you guys think about the XT-20 and the lenses [lower end lenses not as good as the XF series] that I got. Did I make a good choice....I'm not a professional photographer...just learning now. Don't know a lot about photography yet but hope I made a good choice.
The AF seems to be a huge step up from my X-T2 which tends to do a lot of focus hunting even on static subjects. As for the battery some might find it as an advantage - I've got a bunch of them already, I've got a couple of multibattery chargers and these are small light enough to put in a bag and carry around.
Thank you Chris & Jordan for this nice preview. I will wait for the final review, but i think Fuji did a great job on the xt3. Also good that i didn't heard "dpreview" 100x times. A video like in the "old day's'' with good infos and some humor. Very good work. Will be there a end-year-video with best & worst cameras and with real stuff or orange juis? :-)
Still laughing for that Chris vs trashcan joke, brilliant Jordan xD
Thanks! I'm glad you can't hear me laughing in the soundtrack when the camera made the mistake.
XD
hehehehe !
instant classic ;)
That's what friends are for : To tell inconvenient truths
12:40 I'm so dead. XD
Literally just searched youtube for this review, and what do you know: my favourite camera review channel just uploaded this video.
We did it for you Stefan!
Good reason to subscribe and hit the bell icon 🤣
Top notch review. all the info good and bad. great side jokes and inspired video work with composition and close ups. best review team in the business.
Second that!
Man Fuji put out the best mirrorless since the A7III. Super dope camera.
Maybe if it had ibis!
@Abdul what kind of cons does ibis have? I thought it would be the best compared to in lens stabilization
In lens stabilization is better. But both would be best.
I wounder to as i have ibis in my camera
This really makes me wonder why fuji released the X-H1. Why not wait a year and release it with the X-T3 sensor and processor now? would be seriously pissed if i had just bought one.
That being sais though. Damn this looks like a nice upgrade for existing X-T3 shooters.
Not everyone is blogger in this life. So the display is perfect for street photography and other gamers.
Thanks for the review!
I enjoy your reviews for a lot of reasons but your consistency is the primary one. Thank you. Very helpful as usual.
Totally agree. Fun to watch but they focus on substance, not theatrics.
I am so happy fuji did not link performance to the grip!!!
😀
Actually, they sort of did. The battery life is still terrible so if you want to shoot a full day (without swapping out batteries) you need the grip. Although the key video features do not require the battery grip, to fully explore that great new burst rate you need the grip. Without it, the buffer is going to fill up after one burst.
what does the buffer have to with the grip?
Adding the battery grip increases the available power and the rate at which the buffer will clear. (That is direct from a Fuji rep) All the video functions are there without the grip, but because the battery life and power output is so bad you need 3 (and therefore the grip) to really make it the sports, action, or wildlife camera it is being touted.
ohhh interesting thank you
I love the XH1 actually. And I’ll probably not get the XT3. But that internal 10bit is enticing. What an exciting year for mirrorless. 😁
My next Fuji-X will be an X-H2, though I may get an X-T30 or something in the meantime (or an affordable GFX to use my old VM/ZM lenses on...)
for fuji and sony, but boring for canon and nikon
I own the X-H1 and I must say, it's an amazing camera... At $1650 it's a steal.
Stills look no better than the XT2 but you might get more keepers due to the improved AF.
That garbage attack versus Chris was absolute SAVAGE
LOL! looking absolutely similar! :D
True
It was worth watching the entire video to not miss that moment XD
This is an interesting year for cameras.
Right? I haven't seen so many releases since i started shooting in 2014. I still love dslrs and they got better but this feels like the early 2000s when every new camera or mp3 player was a marvel
um, which one to buy?
I have to ask if you guys have noticed any improvement in dynamic range or low light shooting noise performance. I was hoping with a BSI sensor it would see a marked improvement. The lower base ISO suggests more dynamic range but no word yet on that.
This will be a killer camera. $1499 is a great price. Unlike the lazy designs and very high price "let's milk our loyal fans" of the upcoming Canon and Nikon mirrorless cameras, the X-T3 has both great ergonomics and brings something new to the table. The new Microprism super peaking will be fantastic for Manual lenses.
like a deadpool's quote
A....this Is a crop sensor. Therefore cheaper price
Yes +
Yes Daddy
I can't knock the price. I wish that Canon could have done that. (sigh)
This X-T3 looks like a giant step up from the X-T1. great review guys.
And the number of bits shall be 10! Solid as always guys.
Jordan’s athleticism really shines here.
Lol
we need more Jordan's Athletic Mode
Great review! Thanks guys! That silver XT-3 is gorgeous.
Looking forward to your findings about High ISO performance too, on the official review.
Cheers guys
For action/sports or video shooters the X-T3 seems a nice upgrade. For pro portrait photogs the X-H1 still looks better as it has better ergonomics and IBIS as well as that lovely shutter
This is the best mirrorless in the mirrorless market.
Sony, Canon and Nikon are huge mirrorless!!!!!.....with HUGE lenses!!!
Fujifilm is the only brand that offers something special with its aps-c and medium format cameras
ginocogino h
Magnification during recording!! THIS IS AWESOME
I'm loving everything Fuji.
It's nice to see them working so hard for their corner of the market.
no ibis, no 4k fullframe, no Canon EF mount, no double tap shutter button, average file encryption, electromagnetic wave hazard due to wifi, no internal SSD, no usb hub, way over my 150£ budget, if you keep reading this you hopefully understood it is an ironic comment.
How much does the xt3 cost I can't find it anywhere
around or under $1500
@@Hkmmotologs I found it they say it'll be around 1300
it would be funny but no one is really complaining about this camera. I am not even a fuji user at all but I know a bang for the buck and a hard working company that listens when i see it.
No dual coffee machine slot either, what were they thinking !!!1
You guys just crack me up with your banter...and AF on my XH1 has yet to confuse anyone’s face with a garbage can. I love your reviews and I honestly think you guys are among the best out there! I’m quite happy with my XH1 (it took some amazing pics and vids on my China trip last month) for now, but I am really looking forward to your review of the XH2 when it comes out.
'It's an easy mistake to make, they look very similar'😂😂
I also notice that😆😆
Jordan’s high level joke is really smart!
made my day))
12:43 🤣🤣🤣
I feel sorry for chris but I laughed. lol
Am an X-H1 user and what the X-T3 brings is excitement--excitement for what will come in the X-H2.
Yes I did switch from Nikon D750 to XT-3. Very very excited. Already have received some fuji lenses. Eagerly awaiting the new camera.
This camera looks like a winner!
Did Jordan just compared Chris's face with trash can 😂😂
Yes
Jordan, nice job on the color grading of this video! Looks great.
I think Fuji has a medium format camera just as a way to say "I don't make a full frame camera just because I don't want, not because I can't".
YES, FINALLY THE HOLY GRAIL
It would be with ibis :D
FYI, X-T2 does have boost mode that you can use WITHOUT GRIP. Please don't provide incorrect information and misguide users. Having said that you are not the only one... Many others have misunderstood this BOOST feature on X-T2 grip... Many think that you can get BOOST only with grip. that is not true. Even without grip yes through menus but you can turn high performance (BOOST) mode ON on X-T2. I was actually surprised to see that coming from you as I still regard you and few other youtubers at higher standard of knowledge and quality content. Thanks for another nice first impressions, video though!
From a gutted 80D user hoping to go mirrorless this week, colours are just beautiful
Canon's AF will still be better especially in video.....didn't think there was an issue with Canon colours either?
Can I just get 100 clips of Jordan awkwardly staring at a camera and running?
Great review. You guys are the best - very relaxed and informative in addition to working so well as a team.
Meanwhile, 5 years later... I just bought one, and man do I love it! This beauty is still relevant in 2024 and doesn't feel 5 years old at all.
Fuji +
Fuji has another advantage also ,the ergonomics and smaller form factor.
Another great review guys. I watch a lot of the RUclipsr camera channels, and I really think your reviews are the best and most watchable! Keep up the good work :)
You guys are doing a fantasctic job of reviewing gear. I have no intention buying this camera, but I like to be informed about new upcoming products.
Nice review guys as always. Not convinced I need to upgrade from my X-T2 and X-H1 yet, but that auto focus is very appealing.
Oh man that skin color on the video looks fantastic, honestly I think it's better than canon
Agreed.
Don't go into the dark side
If I could afford the "transition" cost I'd already be there.
Disappointing video specs though:
- 4K60 works for "approx 20min" (sounds like an "overheating" limit to me)
- 4K60 is cropped 1.18x
- video files are split at 4GB (haven't they heard of formatting SD cards with exFAT instead of FAT32?)
- 10bit video internally is 4:2:0 only
- HLG (HDR) not yet available (but they say will come by end of year firmware update, not sure if 4:2:0 follows HLG spec, I thought 4:2:2 had to be the HLG spec)
- no IBIS is no good for video and photo (means gimball compulsory for shots off tripod)
- battery life way too short means Battery grip is compulsory but goes through 5+ batteries in 1 days of video shooting.
- LCD is not very bright and does not flip to the side like the cheaper XT100 sadly (which rules out a lot of types of video shooting)
They seem to say H265 is available to be used for every framerate and resolution, is that correct?
I am pretty sure that the lack of IBIS is a failure for photography too.
wow, that last shot looks incredible. I feel more confident investing in more fuji lenses knowing their bodies are getting this much better now.
One of the best looking reviews you have! Fuji for the win!
If they’ve fixed the reliability issues with this Model I’ll be straight on it..! Thanks for a great review guys ❤️
Buy the X-T3
When you do a "full review" of the X-T3, could you also have Jordan describe his mounting of the RODE microphone (shown in your video) on the X-T3. I currently have a RODE Video Mic Pro mounted on my X-T2. Have ordered an X-T3 and would like to upgrade my Video Mic Pro to the Video Mic Pro Plus. Reviews of the Video Mic Pro Plus indicate a "design flaw"- the mic, when mounted directly on the camera, extends beyond the camera, making viewing difficult.
Dear Canon, This is how you make a mirrorless camera!
Come on, give them some slack, the m50 is basically like a little brother at 1/3 of the price to this freaking awesome X-T3.
Canon seems to sell way to much full frame cameras, if they can still release so underwhelming FF like their new mirrorless or the 6DII
I am still in love with this new Fuji.
Agreed, although Nikon needs to be told this. Who puts out their first mirrorless camera at almost $5K??
You said now we got dual uhs 2 cards and it's a nice improvement. Correct me if I'm wrong but xt2 has dual uhs 2 card slots as well?
I've handled a X-T2. From an ergonomic standpoint it was great. The grip was a lot better than the cheaper X-T20. With what looks like very nice video AF and 4k 60fps... wow! That seems like solid hybrid camera that doesn't sacrifice anything from the photo side to make it happen. Though, like you guys were saying, the fully articulating screen would have been preferred by a lot of people.
When you get to doing your full XT3 review, I'd like to see a quick comparison to the XH1...Thanks!
Fuji did thier homework more than well. Thx for the first review an I think its a good indicator what we can expect from the new model. Thanks.
Jordan running at the camera is my favorite arthouse film of 2018.
I love where cameras go.. Can't wait to upgrade my A73 in 2-3 years!
Im still waiting for the x-pro 3 😪
Me too
Me 3
Will it be the GFXR?
Any idea or speculation of when they will release the x-pro 3?
If it had IBIS, it would be instant buy for me. Most of Fuji's primes are not stabilised.
You shaking bro?
Did I just spot a “Beers and Cameras” shirt! Ok, I think we can be friends now haha! I can’t wait to get the XT3! Great job guys!
4K 10 bits video have been desired for a long time (and it's too bad the X-H1 doesn't have that, but anyway, one step at a time)
Too bad there isn't an IBIS, here, but that was already announced by Fujifilm long ago, so no surprise here.
Cheers,
Greg
Nice! This is the first Fuji camera that I actually consider to be interesting. Unfortunately the lack of IBIS is a deal-breaker for me, but I'm super excited about the next model in this line, if it has IBIS.
Great job guys, always enjoyful & informative reviews. Keep it coming!
You guys are great. Thanks. Please stop complaining about the flippy screen. I love the screen as it is and hope they will never change it.
Great preview! What lens was used to record and would you recommend an OIS zoom lens or a prime lens with Gimball for 4k video?
Apart done the face AF during during video, what happens when you don't film a person (e.g. animals, objects , fountains etc)?
Best review of this camera I've seen! Thanks! Does this camera have limitless video recording, like the GH4/GH5?
Hey DPReview! What's up with the XT3 RAW files you uploaded in your comparison tool? Either the XT3's high ISO performance is noticeable worse than the XT2's and Fuji had serious changes done to their colors or you guys had serious trouble with your RAW converter. Can you look into this? It's freaking people out... thanks in advance 😉
Did you guys also test the "pre-shooting" function? ^^ I heard from Fujirumors that X-T3 has a "pre-shooting" function where it already takes pics when you autofocus.
Looking forward to seeing your full review, you guys rock!
11:37 What an impressive presentation! Cheeky but also masterly.
Bah, looks like a great camera, and I really like the XH1, I think I will wait for the XH2, these features with the XH body would be superb.
Brilliant sense of humor guys, so entertaining! :D Thanks for the well balanced first hands on video.
You do have a channel then!! So glad I found you again!
You said the XT-3 has dual UHS2 slots and that's an improvement. I thought the XT2's were both UHS2?
They are BOTH UHS-II. No change there whatsoever.
I own xt2 , has dual slots
Thank you chaps for a professional and interesting review. Can't wait for the full review ☺
