I'm very glad DPReview hired Chris and Jordan to produce these videos. I have watched every one of them and the professional quality is as good as it gets! Excellent commentary, post production video editing, and everything else. Amazing job guys! Oh and the quick and funny bits at the beginning are excellent. I'm going to upgrade from an X-T1 to the X-T30. Amazing features and value for the dollars. Definitely a home run for budget minded enthusiasts like me. Thanks again DPReview, Chris and Jordan!

Agreed. Though Segway is the wheeled conveyance and segue is the transition you are thinking of. Sorry to be that person, but I like to know when I have something wrong in order to avoid future embarrassment. Ignore this if that is not the case for you!
These are the best videos ever. I love how you talk about cameras, and I love how you're constantly switching locations instead of staying in one spot. It REALLY adds to the quality of the video. I can tell you put a lot of hard work into these reviews. I also love how you're somewhat whispering because you're in a library. You could totally make an ASMR chanel making reviews of cameras.
The style of this review really stood out. I enjoyed the style and setting as well as the substance. Good blend of information, visuals, and presentation.
Very cool. Great job guys. I had handled an X-T20 and the grip was the most negative aspect for me, so it's nice to see they are improving on that. Nice to see Fujifilm not holding back features for the sake of holding them back to fit a tier of camera.
In my opinion, like it was with the X-T20 and X-T2 already, the difference in features and possibilities is way smaller than the difference in price, which I find quite amazing. I think that's partly how they brought me into their system because I bought the X-T20 a little over a year ago. Now I'm about to buy the X-T3 as my main camera and keeping the X-T20 as my second more portable camera, so I can finally sell my older system I kept as a backup. :)
I don't have an x-t20 but I saw that bigger grips can be bought online on Amazon for example. Maybe this would suit you and resolve this problem of small grip. I also have big hands and I shoot on a Canon 6D so I am also worried the grip of the new x-t30 may be too small. I hope accessories with bigger grips will get out as well ^^
Yep, it feels to small, even for my small hand. My workaround is to use the half leather case, which fortunately I got as free bonus when I bought the camera.
Great photos Chris and fantastic video Jordan. I particularly liked the framing, DOF and colours in the close-ups of Chris. And what a beautiful building! Really nice!
Thanks for the information and the review men. I'm home watching this on 11/6/23. I like the feel and size of the X-T30 II. I'm shootiong with all formats, FF, APSC, and M4/3rds. I feel there are good reasons for me to shoot with each format at different locations and shoots. I enjoy your reviews and opinions very much. Thanks again for your valued opinions and ideas. That's a great library in Calgary. I had the privilege to visit the Calgary library in Sept. 2022. It's a beautiful building and a wonderful library. 👋 📷 🤩
@Jordan I love that you shot the video with the product reviewed (quality permitting). Every single frame gives me insight into the camera / lens system.
Just ordered a second hand X-T30 to replace my (very) old aps-c Nikon D5100! Keen to see how much faster and better AF is and how much lighter it is. Thx for this review, loving the channel and website! PS Hoping to travel to Canada summer next year😁
The photos are great in this review. The Calgary library is beautiful. And, as always, Jordan's dry humor was on display. I have been thinking of getting the X-T30. I want the X-T3 but it's out of my price range right now. Great video, thanks.
Another great review. Your personalities, succinct rundown, and production quality are the best in the biz. You guys along with Tony and Chelsea are all I ever need for great, positive content. Cheers! Also, what a killer library!
I want to know the same. The X-T30 has a better sensor and faster chip but the A6400 has articulated screen. Please compare both. Nevertheless I will buying a camera only when the camera has IBIS/Sensor stabilization.
Hi Chris, great video as always! I personally own a D500 and a D800 but for Travel, I would like to travel light for holidays (small mirrorless camera but also small lenses), so I am considering buying a Fuji XT-30 presented in this video. Do you think these lenses are good choices (with the 16mm F1,4, 35mm F2, and the 50mm F2)? Also, I wonder if I best buy an XT-3 instead of the XT-30 and sell my current Nikon D500 and my DX Nikon lenses that I use for sport and wildlife. Will the XT-3 be small enough for my travel wishes (VS the XT-30) and especially will the XT-3 be good enough VS my D500 with 3D tracking and some f2,8 sports lenses for sport and actions shooting? Is it better to keep my D500 for sports and buy the XT-30 for travel and landscape or should I sell the D500 and get the XT-3 and do both travel and sport with it?
Aw, I was seriously hoping that Fuji would implement the ingenious X-T100 screen on succeeding models ☹️ Would have been nice so all the tilting and fully-articulating crowd could have cake and eat it, too.
It might “fully articulate” but does it easily tilt up and down from the normal position? Or do you have to full articulate the screen out to the side and articulate it 180 degrees to its facing you again? (While also looking like a tourist with a goofy flappy display that also doubles the width of he entire contraption.) I don’t think anyone that’s been shooting for more than a few years (i.e. has experience under their belt) wants these flipping fully a-flapping circus act LCDs. It seems to be the “vloggers” instead, who seem to have appeared overnight en mass.
@@dasaauto2024 If you've seen the X-T100 screen, then you'd know that it has the ability to both tilt up-and-down in landscape (same as the X-T30 here) AND flip out externally as fully-articulating. It's a feature a lot of people have already appreciated. Yes, even those who have "experience under their belt". We all quite like our options 🙂
@@elleporidae exactly... considering it comes on a lower-end X-T100, I was REALLY hoping for that feature. Between that and IBIS (or at least EIS like in the X-T100), it would really make it the most perfect/versatile camera for so many people. Maybe in the X-T40?

Looks like a nice camera to try out the Fuji system. Does it have the focusing aids of the X-T3? Split screen and what do they call it the fresnel or what ever that I remember from the film days
Hi you guys are doing a great job with these reviews. So I'm looking for a camera that I can use for wildlife photography. I'm mainly going to use it for photo. The AF would have to be better I think, but I'm liking the Fuji color and the quality of the camera. Could you suggest another Fuji model that might be more suitable for me? (without breaking the bank as I am a newbie haha!) Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us!
Jordan - are you saying you'd take the XT30 for video (BTW really asking) over the G80/85 with Dual-IS2 for $100 less with a lens (vs body only), as while the Panasonic isn't anything like as stylish you get the same EVF, fully-articulating screen, 8-bit 4:2:2 over HDMI, but no headphones out so you'd need a HDMI dongle, which is a kludge?
I'd take the X-T30 over the G85 for the much better video AF, un-cropped 4K, USB-C Headphone option, internal log and nicer SOOC colours. The G85 is a killer camera if you need a fully articulating screen, and the prices are excellent. I'd like to see it upgraded to Panasonic's new, excellent colour science, but I think it's a bit late in its life for that.
This is super exciting, at least in my mind it stomps all over Canon's RP launch! As a professional photographer who has been considering a nice walk around body for casual use with some ultra fast manual lenses, this HIGHLY interests me!
hey man thank you so for this great review. Need you opinion which one to buy for photography XT30 or XT200? i'm in a huge confusion between this two and i wanna only for photgraphy not for video . So pls help
What is your opinion on swipe gestures in the dead of winter? Does it become non-reactive? Can it be done with gloves ? Could be a deal breaker for me as I live in Québec and it does get cold...
Is the NP-W126S battery required for USB charging or will a third party NP-W126 battery work? I would like to know if it is worth the premium price to purchase the Fuji OEM version.
Jordan, with similar specs to X-T3, why is the video quality on the X-T30 in this review so sub par? Did you shoot 8 bit instead of 10 bit? Your recent X-T3 video at the music museum was fabulous.
@@thatjordandrake Thanks Jordan. Looks like the X-T3 wins for run&gun. When you and Chris review the new Canon full frame EOS RP it could jump ahead of the Fuji for stills and video and for the same money.
I know it was mentioned that previous models were a little sluggish to turn on the EVF when you put the camera up to your eye. Any feedback on this with the new model?
Love your thoroughness and really excited to have this camera as a 2nd body to go with my X-H1. Having a lighter but as capable video camera will be great for vlogging. Biggest shame is now the 3 axis screen, (everyone talks about having a flip out screen for vlogging, if you know how to focus and now have face detect, why do you need to distract yourself with a screen) and the 2.5 audio port, that drove me insane on the X-T1 and was glad to be rid of it on the X-H1!

"Keep shooting, my friends."
What is your opinion on swipe gestures in the dead of winter? Does it become non-reactive? Can it be done with gloves ? Could be a deal breaker for me as I live in Québec and it does get cold...
beautiful sample shots guys
We are becoming more and more Fujifilm fans ♥️
Is the NP-W126S battery required for USB charging or will a third party NP-W126 battery work? I would like to know if it is worth the premium price to purchase the Fuji OEM version.
Shooting a review in a library? A missed opportunity to do a DPReview TV ASMR video! :P
Great quality review as always :) which focal length was used at 6:45 ?
Hey, Jordan! Just curious - how long does it take you in post to process/finish a wonderful video like this? Thanks!
Jordan, with similar specs to X-T3, why is the video quality on the X-T30 in this review so sub par? Did you shoot 8 bit instead of 10 bit? Your recent X-T3 video at the music museum was fabulous.
This was all recorded internally, so only 8-bit 4:2:0 instead of the internal 10 bit 4:2:0 of the X-T3.
@@thatjordandrake Thanks Jordan. Looks like the X-T3 wins for run&gun. When you and Chris review the new Canon full frame EOS RP it could jump ahead of the Fuji for stills and video and for the same money.
What's the mic you used here? I can't believe you shot this video with a Fuji, and also with the internal preamp.
We used our usual Rodelink Filmmakers kit for this video. Great sound at a good price.
Agreed. Videos are looking great Jordan.
I know it was mentioned that previous models were a little sluggish to turn on the EVF when you put the camera up to your eye. Any feedback on this with the new model?
Fuji is king of mirrorless world. They know how a make great camera and glass on afortable price.👍🏻
I'm checking out this place when I'm in Calgary next weekend. I was talking to Chris on IG btw about the downtown area. Should be awesome.
Were you using on-board Mic for this video?
Love your thoroughness and really excited to have this camera as a 2nd body to go with my X-H1. Having a lighter but as capable video camera will be great for vlogging. Biggest shame is now the 3 axis screen, (everyone talks about having a flip out screen for vlogging, if you know how to focus and now have face detect, why do you need to distract yourself with a screen) and the 2.5 audio port, that drove me insane on the X-T1 and was glad to be rid of it on the X-H1!
Can you do a comparison of autofocus systems across manufacturer brands? Please?
AWESOME! EXCITED!!!! #teamtinycamera
