Well you can just bulldoze the japanese in these book with dictionary and basic understanding of japanese, just like i did back in the day. You just gotta overcome your own skill issue for things you wanna achieve. Heck phone can even translate by taking picture these days.
Anime too, trinity soul sucked but with an actual budget and a good animation studio it could be a banger, it helps that it would be a story created for the medium and not an adaptation of a 100 hour game.
@@naxzed_it If I remember correctly the person who did the translation videos for those mobile games deleted all of his accounts cause people tried cancelling him for translating a slur that was in one of the games
@@chechilcheeser If you’re counting the mobile games technically more than a trilogy except the eternal punishment one is inconsistent lore wise, so it’s “canonness” is up in the air.
@@chechilcheeser There’s a ton of Persona Mobile Games, but for P2 specifically Innocent Sin got lost memories that immediately takes place after the ending and right before eternal punishment and eternal punishment got infinity mask which takes place right after it’s ending, but like I said infinity mask has lore inconsistencies. A company named GMode ported the Aigis P3 Spinoff mobile game and the persona 1 Mobile game, so I’m hoping they do the p2 games as well since without them they are lost media.
p5 already takes heavy inspo from 1 and 2 and its kind of obvious from story elements to characters and their designs. i dont rhink it will ever go back because the sort of gothy morbid edgy stuff from 1 2 and even 3 was popular in the time those games came out and is only now seeing a resurgence
I remember finding this manga a long time ago on a manga app while looking for all the spinoff p5 manga. I just assumed “Crime and Punishment” was a mistranslation of “Sin and Punishment” so i never thought anything of it. This is unironically a really great story that i hope they repurpose into the main series.
"Crime and Punishment" a Mastema reference?!! Aside from that, the story of this "prequel" sounds cool as heck, a shame it doesn't have an official translation.
i think this is because of the fact that these villains are human rather than the p2 games' entities/deities. while I love Philemon and Nyarly as nigh unfathomable personifications of the good and evil of humanity (esp the fact that nyarly actually won at the end of p2:is!), this manga's villains have real, individual, human motivations and even better, history and relationships with the main cast, leading to much more in-depth fights and confrontations. so i'd say it's less about the quality of each media's villains but rather what they represent and bring to the table that is their respective stories!
I don’t have much to add really but I’m glad to see you cover this manga! It was certainly a tough read the first time through and certain things or terminology is hard to follow due to the translation at times. What I really liked was the fact that the keys turned into swords that really changed the tides of battle. I also loved the reference to the the Black Books and the Red Book by Jung, being very explicitly mentioned in a Persona work. Overall I was a fan of the main cast and became very endeared to Kazumi! Thanks for a great video!
Reading this manga after it finally being translated allowed it to be something quite special in my heart, so I'm glad a video was done on it and a great one at that! :)
I'm French and recently found all 3 volumes at a reasonable price. I read the first two volumes and I was blown away. I haven't played any of the Persona 2 games (I've only played P5R for now) so I don't know how it compares but I for sure love the manga. Really looking forward to the final volume. I remember searching for the manga online and I could only find the Wikipedia article for it and nothing else. Glad to stumble upon this video.
Holy shit as a Persona fan i never know about this manga. I wish Atlus made a game based on this manga, with some change for the gameplay of course but should be a nice story as a spinoff or another universe from the main canon.
This was very interesting, I never actually paid much attention when I saw something about this previously. Thanks for sharing a neat part of persona history
Im one of the few who knew about this, mainly because i decided to open the megaten wiki protagonists page one day. I wanted to read it but saw no good translation and just kinda of gave up
OHHH its this one..I read a bit of it in the internet (ofc and also obvious how), I was in a website and well I love persona but I wasn't blessed with much money so at times i literally watch gameplay, analysis vids, fact vids, anime, mangas, any form of persona content I can basically access for short and, while reading another manga, I just happen to saw this one at the side and was curious enough to read it since the cover looks really cool and its a persona i have never even heard of, Im glad to see someone talking about it, Im not really attached to it since i didn't went far cause I was reading something else at the time.
With personal 3 reloaded being my first persons game I have already fell in love with the story I would love if these games would get the same treatment would love to play it as I feel 5 and 4 are playable in their current states where as these older games are extremely aged
Started out thinking this was just gonna be a SMT if video or something(idk anything about it beyond it sort of being Persona 0) If we ever do get that P2 remake imma need this manga adapted for a DLC expansion
Hear me out, probably aint gonna happen, but a persona spin off where the protagonist and party members are adults, but then again doing paper work instead of the school mini game would be boring but kinda funny at the same time

we don’t talk about “I’m in the house like carpet.”

Ok, but what about The Velvet, turtle?

we need more persona manga that tell NEW stories in the world of the series

Amazing story. I wish P6 would take notes from older Persona media and create something else instead of "school life with super powers".
