I'm a lizard guy. Started throwing it cuz I saw so many lizards around where I fished. Shonuff, I got bites quick. I prefer the Yamamoto ones but they are what I started on. Haddock's and Creme make nice ones too.
That floating Rapala got a lot of people started in bass fishing. I've caught so many fish twitching it over holes in submerged grass. So many great memories. Great video Mike!
I live in Massachusetts and use 6" lizards from late Spring all the way through Fall. I don't know many other people who throw them but they are absolutely killer!
I am in central Massachusetts. Use a Texas rigged lizard 🦎 all the time. Pumpkin green or black with chartreuse tail. Love a bass with a mouth full of lizards 🦎
Thanks for sharing 40 years ago when I was growing up the most common lowers it will use with a rooster tail and the Rapala minnow along with the plastic worm so thanks for the review they definitely are all time favourites and reliable
I have been killing them all year so far on a Roostertail (4LB Bass and a 4lb Pickeral) and the (2) Treble Rapala.. I like to tie straight to the Rapala as tight as I can get cuz you can adjust the Knot position on the 0 ring from top to bottom which allows the Rapala to dive from inches to 2 feet deeper without changing the speed of the retrieve.. The Roostertail has Single handely got me (3) South Jersey Slams already this year.. Great baits and Great Video (M)Ike.. Keep'm Comin and Never Give Up!
In the lakes around my area the only thing that, on its day out fishes a small Rapala Original 5 or 7 cm, is the Tanzanian Devil lure. But I really love the tight action from the balsa wood lures.
I was raised high mt. stream trout fishing in the northern Sierra Nevada’s and you just gave up my in-line spinner secret for bass. 🤣😂🤣. If you throw a spinner on the outside or inside weed edge on pressured lakes you are going to get a big surprise. They are gold man! Great video as usual Mike. Thanks a bunch!
From Socal.....4" Lizards on Flats using a carolina rig.....1/4oz Roostertail.....White Silver blade in Murky water and # 11 or 13 S Floating Rapala...Loop Knott allows the bait to have a Tight wobble....
And still my PB largemouth was on a Carolina rigged lizard 8.2 And my old fishing partner could catch bass in a friggin mud hole with that mepps spinner. Good video Ike👍
Jerkbaits and crankbaits depending on size will catch just about anything. I've caught a bluegill on a half ounce silver and blue back trap. The lure was half its size 😆.
My grandpa always used Thin Fins! The OG thin fins were the best. I had close to 50 of them from him, among a bunch of other stuff and someone stole all of my stuff. I haven't fished in about 10 years since that happened.
Ik I still have but wouldn't dare use now a four pack of Rapalas the my grandfather bought me in 1976,, they're all floating baits with treble hooks,,the largest is maybe 3//8" long and the largest is maybe 5/8"Long,,.I even there's no telling how many times I came close to drowning getting Those lures from snags....
Lizards are "such a simple bait, they're almost a cross between a worm and a creature bait and they look like crawfish, snakes, salamanders, newts, waterdogs, eels, and lampreys. Sounds pretty complex to me. I've been using lizards for 15 years and always thought they looked like lizards. Lol. "It looks alive and they want to "kill" it". Uh yeah, same goes for the other 2874 baits Mike and please just use the word eat. Haha
EVERYBODY and their mother in a 200 mile radius "senko is all you need" "if they're not biting use a senko" SENKO SENKO SENKO SENKO SENKO! Me - "If they're not biting a white rooster tail it's time to try a new spot" In-line spinners are my number 1 confidence bait. No doubt about it.
Jitterbug is my go to lure when bite is off or nonexistent. That action in the Jitterbug will almost always entice a strike. Try the XL Jitterbug designed for Musky fishing. The black XL is a killer night bait for big bass!
I'm a lizard guy. Started throwing it cuz I saw so many lizards around where I fished. Shonuff, I got bites quick. I prefer the Yamamoto ones but they are what I started on. Haddock's and Creme make nice ones too.

I remember catching my first bass on top water with this lure as a kid. Hooked since
I am quite a bit older and remember catching bass on Jitterbug, Hula-Popper, and River Runt.
I live in Massachusetts and use 6" lizards from late Spring all the way through Fall. I don't know many other people who throw them but they are absolutely killer!
Oh yeah, throw lizards a lot! Try a little Dip-n-glo on the tips.

There’s always lizards in my box, my most successful soft plastic during the spawn down in Texas! 🦎
That's for damn sure
In the lakes around my area the only thing that, on its day out fishes a small Rapala Original 5 or 7 cm, is the Tanzanian Devil lure. But I really love the tight action from the balsa wood lures.
Thanks Mike hope all is well.Dont forget that bead on the carolina rig to protect knot and add a little clicking sound.
I have the Rapala org. Minnow in all different sizes I too use it as top water lure Rapala is the only one I buy !!!!
All great lures that still gettem ! Like the 8 inch lizard for big fish here in NJ during the spring
Thanks Ike!! Old school is still the best
Rooster tail and panther Martin, love it! Carry with me on every fishing trip.

My go to is a black and silver floating Rapala minnow. Never fails.
I’m an old guy and that was right on point.
Keep these videos coming on old school lures.
In the 80’s I can remember crushing bass with everything Rapala and a K-Mart Abu Garcia rod :)
Great selections and rigging tips!! Another vid saved to my collection for future reference. Thanks, Mike.
I caught my PB smallie(4lbs 10oz) on a Johnson beetlespin , there cheap and catch anything.
I use the Zoom 4in lizard all the time and some Barkley in the pumpkin seed with green tail!!!!
Nice video Mike. Thanks for the info. Tight lines and may the Fish be with you! 🎣
We used them to bed fish just like that growing up in Florida, they work like a dream!
Just went white bass fishing and caught some nice largemouth on the INLINE SPINNER!!!!
Hey Mike, just wondering if you've ever fished your namesake lure, the Lazy Ike? We used to use them for walleye and pike years ago.
Johnson Sprite/Silver Minnow spoons are OG and still get smacked 👌🏻
And still my PB largemouth was on a Carolina rigged lizard 8.2
And my old fishing partner could catch bass in a friggin mud hole with that mepps spinner. Good video Ike👍
Try inline with a single hook and 1/8 oz or smaller grub on the back trust me ...
Damm straight i still use Rapala floating minnow in all sizes from bass to musky and I too use it as a top water bait
I'm in CT and the lizard is killer. I did grow up in TX, but a Texas-rigged lizard gets bit a lot up here!
What do you think of the BX series from Rapala, they look and feel great.
I love to use inner spinners, it catches anything that swims! I use it most in days
When the fish are not biting, it make the fish bite!
I love me some ol school! I still throw Twin T’s Spider jigs. Running out though. Lol
I caught my first larg mouth Bass on a rooster tail and it still works just as well today thanks for the tips
Yeah I love them had a ton of luck at the end of fall/end of December with them suprisingly
Jerkbaits and crankbaits depending on size will catch just about anything. I've caught a bluegill on a half ounce silver and blue back trap. The lure was half its size 😆.
AMEN brother RAPALA means NEVER get skunked you described the exact way I have fished it for 47 years
Rapala .... the definition of Confidence baits.
My grandpa always used Thin Fins! The OG thin fins were the best. I had close to 50 of them from him, among a bunch of other stuff and someone stole all of my stuff. I haven't fished in about 10 years since that happened.
I been using lizards from berkley sense the 90’s
Rapala #7 floating Rainbow. That's the first Lure I caught a fresh water fish on.
Not sure how old it is but I go with a 3 inch grub. #1 or #2 ewg hook and no weight up to about 3 feet of water. BOOM!
I also still throw Heddon Torpedoes, Auger tails and Rebel crankbaits.
I fished tournaments from 12-30 yrs old...want go into detail...i got burned out..even had sponsors...you made me want to fish again
Thank you Mike 🤠.
yup first used it in early 80s perfect twitching
My favorite lizard!
Thanks for all the info
Cracks me up! Is that lore or lure?
I had no idea you can use that for a sight fishing bait for spawning fish!!!! Im going fishing!!!
Great video I must be old because I use all 3
We use the Bomber Long A jerk bait as an topwater here on the TVA
Ike’s still in the shop working on the presentation 😂💪
Have several rapala minnows in my box.
Some call them old school. I call them lures I’ve never stopped using..
A chartreuse lizard on a bed has never let me down. Caught 3 on it last week.
Crazy Crawler, Jitterbug, Hula Popper, Crème Scoundrel, Original Rapala.
I’m surprised the Rebel Pop r wasn’t in there.
Massachusetts here .. i use the plastic lizard 🦎 as much as a "senko"
1/6 oz rooster tail for smallies all day
Rapala original floating minnow is the only jerk bait I use.
NAILED IT
I literally have every color lizard that zoom makes lol
Still love rapala

I still wanna be like Ike!!!
Lizards are "such a simple bait, they're almost a cross between a worm and a creature bait and they look like crawfish, snakes, salamanders, newts, waterdogs, eels, and lampreys. We want to see the footage from the susquehanna with mike breeding.
Can’t wait to see
That husky jerk man so many fish.
I must be strictly old school because that is mainly what I have in my tackle boxes LOL
I own 189 different RAPALAS hey Ike you and I should do a Rapala only challenge or tourney
Love Mike ❤️ 😍
I like a lil George too
Is it strange that I could smell that "power bait" smell when he opened the lizard bag?
Never quit using them..in line spinner is money, simply gets it done. Best of luck boss.
That's a French blade on that in line spinner not an Indiana.
EVERYBODY and their mother in a 200 mile radius "senko is all you need" "if they're not biting use a senko" SENKO SENKO SENKO SENKO SENKO!
Me - "If they're not biting a white rooster tail it's time to try a new spot"
In-line spinners are my number 1 confidence bait. No doubt about it.

Black jjjjjitter bug
Jitterbug is my go to lure when bite is off or nonexistent. That action in the Jitterbug will almost always entice a strike. Try the XL Jitterbug designed for Musky fishing. The black XL is a killer night bait for big bass!

Love a snag less sally!! Too bad there is no more uncle josh
Old wooden spittin popper.
I thought everyone threw lizards... 🤷
Powerbaits were released in 1985, so in my book they aren't old school.
Sorry, but all the advertisements make it unwatchable, I am out....
All old school lures catch bass!
