I grew up bass fishing with both of those baits, living in Germany now after the Army and chatterbaits are just now starting to get popular here. I caught a 44.5 inch pike on a chatterbait last year here in Germany
Thanks for clearing that up for me Ike! I have more confidence in using a spinnerbait than I do using a chatterbait. I had already decided to work on my chatterbait game this year and now I have a better idea of how to achieve my goal.
Yes! Some folks think chatter is king over spinners and vice-versa. Might as well boil it down to 1 company/model that makes 1 of each of soft plastic swimbait, craw and worm...They're all the "same".
Oh hell no! Neither can replace the other...Great information Ike! Love em both....always, always have one of each or more tied up when I am fishin any body of water where I live in the Pacific NW. Good stuff Mike. Keep it up! NEVER GIVE UP! 👊
I like how you explain the different situations you'd use both...straight to the point. Seems like a lot of others talk in riddles leaving the listener like 😑😐 Appreciate ya!!
When the Chatter Bait came out I didn’t try it since I thought it was just a Spinner Bait substitute. The Spinner Bait has been one of my favorite baits since 1972. I have since discovered that the Chatter Bait is more of a Crank Bait for weeds with a big single hook.
I have never done well with a spinnerbait but do great with a chatterbait. I think it’s just a matter of confidence and not really giving the spinnerbait enough water time. Great video Mike. Really clarified things for me.
Great video Ike , I love both these lures and thought I knew most of what there is to know. I learned tons in this video Keep up the great videos , take care and come down to Texas and catch some big ones.
I like to use chatterbaits sometimes but this videos helps a lot. And will try that when I go out on the lake. Learning a lot from ur videos and tips. U are aWsome. Keep up good work. Keep wha ur doing showing tips about fishing and baits and what kind to use. 🙂
I've caught em on spinnerbaits and I've caught em on chatterbaits, the latter has landed bigger fish for me. It's my all year confidence bait along with neds.
I have to find ways to remember what when and where...... drives me nuts since Im limited on what I can bring for the day on my kayak. In water that flash is natural for a fish to see I use a spinner and when its not clear where fish would not expect flash I use the jackhammer. I just need to remember the smaller details - thanks Mike for the information I often need to be reminded of when Im looking at an ocean of gear at 5am.
Mike, i want to fish my spinnerbait on strait 20 pound braid. Would you put a leader on or will it work fine with braid only? Do i HAVE to put a trailor on the spinnerbait or can i fish it without one. Thanks for a grat channel.
I use both, most areas I fish have stained or dirty water. I've found Spinner bait works extremely well. At night I've found the Chatter bait works best....👍🎣😁
Hey Mike. Love your videos. However, I as an amateur angler, like probably most non-pros, fish from pond and river banks and probably don't have access to a boat or kayak. Can you speak to us? Thank you 😊
What about lakes that have large rock bottoms, does that fall under the category of timber and spinnerbait would be the choice? My thought is that the pointed end of a spinner bait may wedge more than a chatter bait, you’re from my relative area, if you have fished lake nockamixion you may know what I’m talking about
From my experience I’ve had more success off white spinnerbaits fishing the local reservoirs with large rock bottoms. One of my go to baits when fishing these places
Sooooo chattirbaits are better since they come with more or less flash, more or less vibration, lighter or heavier for depth and speed, and with weed guards to prevent snagging..... LoL I have both but honestly don't fish them as much as hard or soft lures. Just my observation.
Dude I don't know what I do wrong, but I almost can't catch a fish on a chatterbait to save my life. They just don't produce the bites like a spinnerbait does for me.
Newbies ,I feel sorry for Ya! Way too much Info on the Web. Let's not Forget Pros are sum of the Biggest Junk fishers Ever! In all similar Condition They will Have Both tied on And throw Both!
That was the most comprehensive breakdown on both baits I have ever watched. Good stuff!
Glad it was helpful!
I love the spinnerbait in heavy cover. Especially when fishing wood. It can’t be beat. Both have their place. Great video Ike.
I grew up bass fishing with both of those baits, living in Germany now after the Army and chatterbaits are just now starting to get popular here. I caught a 44.5 inch pike on a chatterbait last year here in Germany
Best vid to date... I definitely have 1 of each tied on every time I get out on the water
Good Info Training I had No I'dea there was that much differance between the two baits Thanks!
Thanks for sharing, very helpful!

My go to channel for tips and tricks to become a better angler. Thanks!!!
NEVER GIVE UP!!!! ........On chatterbaits! FREAKING LOVE U IKE!!!

Great video. These comparison type with when/where to fish are awesome! Keep em coming
You got it!
I could have used this conversation yesterday!
Great job mike! Well explained
Glad you enjoyed it!

Great breakdown Ike!
I'm a new angler, have both baits but needed to know the when and the why of the baits. Thanks, needed this info about these two baits.
Great details on both lures. Thanks
Glad you like them!
Thanks for the tips Mike!
Great video IKE loved every minute, great tips, and easy common sense ideals!!! Flash, speed, and in cover great vid man!!
best instructional video on this lures by far, I honestly would like to watch a breakdown like this on buzzbaits now
Oh hell no! Neither can replace the other...Great information Ike! Love em both....always, always have one of each or more tied up when I am fishin any body of water where I live in the Pacific NW. Good stuff Mike. Keep it up! NEVER GIVE UP! 👊
Mike love ya man! Nobody breaks it down better. Ty.
Love em both, thanks Ike much appreciated I will definitely use this lesson.
You're very welcome!
Amazing description for me, as I've never used a chatterbait! Gonna get one soon now!
I like how you explain the different situations you'd use both...straight to the point. Seems like a lot of others talk in riddles leaving the listener like 😑😐
Appreciate ya!!
Just caught my 2 biggest bass 20 minutes because of your tips. Thank you Ike

I love me some spinnerbaits specially with a trailer on the back skip that bad boy under docks too=game over
Great content
That was very much worth the watch, thank you for sharing that great information.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks Mike! Great info as usual...
Thanks for watching!

I still use the Johnson spoon silver and gold 1/2 ounce
Great video Ike! I use spinnerbaits a lot and i love the combination of blades but the chatterbait is great!
Thanks! 👍
Fantastic video! Exactly what I was wanting to learn about.
Thank you so much. Truly appreciated.
Glad it was helpful!
Just subscribed! This video was extremely helpful. Excited to see your new videos.
Great vid Mike deuely

This is a great video. I learned a lot here. Thank you.
Fantastic explanation, thanks! :)
Umbrella rig or Alabama rig always put the biggest bait in the middle keep it in your bag of tricks for your next tournament
I would like to know the difference between the two
Great video..good stuff I wish I knew years ago instead of learning the hard way which is better around different cover and losing so many lures 😂😂😂
Love this tips!!!
Skippability tho ? Great vid use both for sure
Both can be skipped with a trailer on them, but I see what you’re saying the chatterbait is wayyyy more skippable. I prefer it
I've caught em on spinnerbaits and I've caught em on chatterbaits, the latter has landed bigger fish for me. It's my all year confidence bait along with neds.
Ned Flanders all day!!
Ike, do you fish umbrella rigs? I haven’t thrown one and would like an Ike video to show productive fishing and presentation etc.
Yes I do! Check out Shanes Baits!
Can you show us how the chatterbait blade thumps again, LOL 🤣
Great video!
Chatterbait ⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️
That give me an good idea and learn something about that. It a good video.
Glad it was helpful!
Fantastic presentation. I watched this video twice before posting this comment.

I did a podcast on this! Why people think they are interchangeable is BEYOND me.

Excellent
Thank you so much 😀
Great video Mike, very in depth and well explained. BTW, I love your rods and reels! What setups would you recommend for those lures?
I use both, most areas I fish have stained or dirty water. I've found Spinner bait works extremely well. At night I've found the Chatter bait works best....👍🎣😁
Spinnerbaits do a better job at mimicking bait fish than the Chatter. The shape and vibration of willow blades...
It's also more weedless
What do you use for trailer hooks / keepers?
Hey Mike. Love your videos. However, I as an amateur angler, like probably most non-pros, fish from pond and river banks and probably don't have access to a boat or kayak. Can you speak to us? Thank you 😊
mike, how about a weedless guard on a chatterbait for a happy medium?
If I have a slower speed reel should I go with a heavier spinner bait?
Ike, do you usually add a trailer hook on your spinnerbait?
Spinnerbait is going to get hot since everyone is throwing a chatterbait. I also feel like theyre gonna stop biting chatterbaits after a little while.
What about lakes that have large rock bottoms, does that fall under the category of timber and spinnerbait would be the choice? What about windy conditions. 🤔🤔
Great!!
I have never gotten a bite on a spinnerbait or a bladed jig. I live in northeast alabama and fish from the bank on the coosa. Why?
I vote Swim Jig! Or Jackhammer never catch much on the spinner bait
😳 I can't barely catch any here in Massachusetts
On the chatterbaits spinnerbait clutch
@@josephmannix5120 I think it’s partially what you have confidence in! Have you tried the jackhammer?
Fish what you have confidense in. As for me and ole Jimmy, we will keep chunking our old tried and true spinner baits. The most versitile bait ever!
@@lariler2 iv been mostly chatter bait but Iv got a lot of new found confidence in the swim jig!
Mentioning a shopping cart as cover shows the Philadelphia in you!
Spinner bait all day.
I agree with everything except for me the spinnerbait is more efficient than the chatterbait in lily pads (thick stemmed ones).
Is there a difference between lure and lore? Just wondering. English used to be my second language. :-)
Sooooo chattirbaits are better since they come with more or less flash, more or less vibration, lighter or heavier for depth and speed, and with weed guards to prevent snagging..... LoL I have both but honestly don't fish them as much as hard or soft lures. Just my observation.
Shimano pistol grip bullwhip and a
Chatterbait is better no doubt
Why is it that people say to throw a spinner bait when it is windy/choppy water?
Hey Mike make sure you tell a friend about me 👊
💪💪💪💪
i feel a chatterbait can be fished better on a casting reel rather than using a spinning reel, Am i wrong?
I vote spinner bait. I never catch anything on chatterbaits
cB 10yrs old? lol nope was fishing them in 2003
Dude I don't know what I do wrong, but I almost can't catch a fish on a chatterbait to save my life. They just don't produce the bites like a spinnerbait does for me.
Iaconelli Is the italian surname
Try to turn that swim bait trailor upside down. Don’t fight against the chatterbait as bad!!!
I still dont understand why all chatterbaits and spinnerbaits dont have weed guards
Spinnerbaits Old school... chatterbait new school
Chatterbait
It's a spinner baits for me big willow blades yummy
I've been throwing the Chatterbait for alot longer than 10 years ... 😒
Chatter bait .
How did you avoid hooking yourself in this video? Made me cringe a few times.
LOl!
Thank you for not doing this video in your car like all these other chumps out there
Newbies ,I feel sorry for Ya! Way too much Info on the Web. Let's not Forget Pros are sum of the Biggest Junk fishers Ever! In all similar Condition They will Have Both tied on And throw Both!
Mike seems like one of those people that look at the ceiling or over your head when they're taking to you🙄
😅😅
