I can only imagine that this was the working title for the game and when time came for it to be shoveled out the door, one of the producers asked another if they should name it and the reply came back, "Eh, who cares?"
As a huge fan of the Sniper Elite games, one of the first things I noticed in this game was the Welrod. And this game, unbelievably enough, has a more accurate Welrod model than Sniper Elite. The scale is more authentic. Shit as it may be, they DID nail the Welrod. Good for you, Midas! 😇
don't get me wrong, i love the sniper elite games too, but the original sniper elite didn't actually have it. My first encounter with it was in medal of honour rising sun. But after that, WW2: Soldier is the second game to feature it to my knowledge. The welrod is such a nice gun and serves it's purpose really well. On WW2: Soldier having a more accurate welrod model... The 3d model is a more faithful recreation, but in WW2: Soldier it is being portrayed as selfloading, while in Sniper Elite it accurately depicts it as "bolt action" with 8 .32 rounds. So yeah, i guess it's a tie, or sniper elite wins this for accurately depicting the mechanics of the gun while still having a good enough visual representation of the gun.

29:14 - The Gamespot User Review Anthony Hayball you pointed out happens to be me who also goes by the Channel User Name AQWBlaZer91. Thank you, guys, for bringing up my review. I reviewed this abomination myself after playing it, I did it on the PS3 which is the emulated version. I gave it a 1.1/10 for how terrible the stealth missions where especially when you can beat Stage 3 without taking the disguise when it says you need to take it, atrocious AI, really bad aiming controls, has only 7 short levels and how many bugs and glitches it has. The game at times feels unfinished and also unplayable. Keep in mind this game actually came out in 2005 the same year that Star Wars Battlefront II, Timesplitters Future Perfect came out. "It's a World War II shooter that must be avoided at all costs as it is an unfinished, uninspired and completely horrendous excuse of a game that either it was designed by people who didn't know what they were doing or maybe it must have been designed by Adolf Hitler himself." - Anthony Hayball (AQWBlaZer91)
The enemy you took out would be doubly surprised by your strafeing tactic as the gun in this game seems to be firing semi automatic despite the real life one requiring the lug at the back be pulled back and the spent shell extracted in between each shot - nothing like seeing a commitment to historical accuracy in a ww2 shooter released on armistice day!
It's single shot because if the bolt opened after the round went off the expansion of gas out of the ejection port and the movement of the pistol slide creates significant noise. It would defeat the entire purpose of a near-silent gun. After a certain number of rounds the gun is really just as quiet as any other gun with a silencer once the rubber baffles wear out. These were meant to be sort of disposable. For more info check out the channel Forgotten Weapons, he doesn't get weird or political either.
