I love my mr920! It quickly took over as my main home defense handgun. Very reliable and accurate, and just feels so much better in the hand compared to my g19.

It’s pretty pathetic honestly. So called budget companies like canik are dropping new models almost every year with new requested features and this year Glock’s new amazing product is a Glock 17 that you can turn into a Glock 45 if you have a Glock 19 slide. Which is a laughable “innovation.” Walther has had universal slide interchangeability since 1997. You can put a original P99 slide on a PDP frame if you want to

I really enjoyed my DR920. I ended up cosigning it because I do prefer my PDP, but shadow systems makes a great handgun for sure!

I would say the PDP pro sd full size 5 in barrep is a better choice than this.
The Mr920 is arguably better than the pdp pro compact tho.

@@geebeaux Right on, pdp has a much better trigger. But magazines are expensive and the recoil impulse will take some getting used to vs Glock.

All Shadow Systems is missing is an all metal frame. (Like S&W, Canik, etc)

One of the biggest reasons to carry a Shadow Systems pistol is their insane warranty.
If your (Shadow System's) CCW gets confiscated after a legal self defense shooting, they will send you a replacement pistol until your original is released back to you.
If you get the original back do you get to keep both?
Has anyone ever test this warranty?
@bloodycrepe there was a post recently on Reddit from someone who had to use this replacement policy. However, there is a correction to the original comment: Shadow Systems will replace your gun IF you do not receive the gun back from police evidence lockers, not while you wait for it to be returned. Shadow Systems cannot give a customer a replacement gun until they have been cleared of any potential charges in any self defense shooting.
I think this is a cool tactical gun, but with the polymer canik rival at $350 less with one of the best factory triggers out of the box period, that can be lightened with an $18 spring kit…. Idk how this is gunna do in the completion realm. Looks like the “Combat Master at home,” which is pretty rad.
Canik is cheap because the labor in Turkey is cheap. I'd rather shoot a gun made by workers in Texas that make a good living for themselves and their families.
Plus the money goes back to Turkey. But we sell oil to China now too

👍👍, up on shadow systems company. I've had their MR920L model Since mid February. Great pistol. I look forward to seeing if they will be coming out with their own AR style rifle. I keep hearing ' rumors '.
Very cool gun. And I just checked, you can get the barrel in black instead of that hideous copper something color. And not all of us can wear a purple holster in style
A Timney trigger would make it a great pistol.
Or throw in a Johnny glock trigger...
I think it's a pretty overacted in terms of performance and it's not super reliable.
A Canik trigger would make it a great canik😆

Id be curious to see the recoil comparison between the glock 34 and the shadow systems long slide. Ive heard the recoil impulse and slide rise on the MR920 is almost the same as a regular glock 34 slide rise, but idk how true that is...
I'd get a DR920L if they had a better trigger. Unfortunately I find myself gravitating towards a plain ol' gen5 G34 and I'll have to get all of these aftermarket parts for it... talon grips, sights, etc, but also a trigger.
glocks new trigger looks just like the Gen 5 i have in new g45. i mean exact. picked up mine in nov 2022
It looks amazing but then I have to think of why would I spend that much for a fancy gun when I could get a Canik that from everything I've heard has an amazing trigger.

Wii the trigger interchange with a Glock trigger? Reason I ask is I have done over 200 Glock trigger jobs. My competition Glocks, Gen 3 34 and 35, have 1 1/2 lb triggers.
Glock just released a very “Timney” looking drop in trigger for Gen 5. Crazy right?

@Timothy Mckee Honestly not expecting a lot and I’m not a good enough shooter that it’s going to make a difference. But I like flat-ish triggers and thought this is a good way to get that in an OEM offering.

My hand completely fills the girp perfectly, so had no need for the dr's grip.
I have the MR920 elite over 4k rds flawless got the DR920P had some break in kinks but overall I like it a lot also about the size of the 17

I wonder... can the trigger be lightened to make it competition ready? By "lightened," I mean something along the lines of, say, the Canik Rival trigger at around 3-3.5 lbs. Also, I'd LOVE to see this with a steel frame!

You can just say the difference is that shooting a stock glock well requires sitting in a cold dark room squeezing a 2x4 with all your might until your hands bleed while listening to death metal until it somehow just “works”… and then you get to come out of that room. Or just use another tool that doesn’t require that unpleasant experience?

I also own a Bul Armory Bullesteros, and that feels like a mini version. I have two carry guns: that, and the Sig p365xl Spectre Comp.

Can we pls talk about how the slide drops on the wall and makes a double step break on the pull? It's the best plastic gun ever, but that part bugs me.

Do you think in 9mm heavier grain weight bullets such as 124gr or 147 gr perform better out of shorter barrel pistols or is lighter grain weight loads like 115gr better for short barrels? Which side of the bullet weight spectrum would you recommend for barrels of 3 inch and under?

Thought I would come over and share with you since you were interested as well incase you didn't see the comment on the other video. I will Copy and paste his reply below. Here it is..."3” barrels I would do 147 - specifically short barreled rounds - like the Sig P365 hollow points - there are a few cartridges like this - most low recoil rounds have faster powders and projectiles that will expand at lower velocities"

So if I am used to shooting a Glock will my index be the same or would I have to relearn that? Meaning if I draw fast and use my subconscious Glock index is my dot going to be low? I'm a little bit surprised that they didn't do anything to increase the weight of the pistol or otherwise make it better optimized for USPSA. It's a DR920 with a .8" longer slide, which is awesome, but its hard to say whether or not it's a significant upgrade over a DR920 for Carry Optics.
Yeah, they should have given it a better competition trigger and a weighted magwell.
@@richardw2801 Maybe so. I understand not doing the trigger, as the base Shadow Systems trigger I'd serviceable for competition, and most people will upgrade to a trigger of their choice regardless. Still, set screws for overtravel and pretravel wouldn't have been that hard and would be a welcome improvement. As for the magwell, it wouldn't be that useful for competition unless Limited optics becomes a thing and really takes off. That being said, heavyweight brass backstraps would be a welcome addition. Hopefully lok or Taylor freelance come through on that front in the future.
@@jackwicker that's true, brass backstraps make more sense. If I was in carry optics I would prob just run a full size pdp.
@@richardw2801 I'm running a DR920 now and definitely enjoying it, but I would say the light weight is a little bit of a disadvantage. I'm tempted to switch to the steel framed Canik Rival S once it picks up in availability.
I run a DR920 in CO also. Would liked to see some added weight too. Might try that rival S too.
Almost bought this the other day.. passed it up for the pdp pro sd 5” instead… the grip just felt too small in hand which I found odd cause I have smedium hands and a regular Glock is just a little big for me even with the small back strap..
How do u like the pdp. Everyone says it’s good. But all videos I watch it looks snappy as Shit.

I have not had a positive experience with this gun. I have the dr920p. Accuracy is awful past 15 yards. Trigger is not much better than the glock.....and my extractor failed after 1000 rounds. Either I got a lemon or there quality control needs attention.
I stick with my canik Rivals

@@TheHumbleMarksman yes.....customer service is great......and gun is working......but I still prefer my Rival-S.....it shoots just as flat without the comp. The trigger is the biggest problem for me. It sits too far back.....and even the Apex trigger is not much of an improvement. The slide to frame fit is too loose which compromises accuracy past 15 yards.

sort of? in a gun like this it doesn't unbalance it necessarily since it's already unbalanced due to being polymer. You get more velocity to help with power factor and more slide to manipulate from.

Is this the best functional gucci glock? Meaning, rather than build one from parts via glock store from Zev, etc - 50% chance of the average joe effing it up and making an unreliable mess - is this now the highest functioning glock out of the box (excluding Taran Tactical… cause thats like $3000 soo so ridiculous i just rule that out).

yes - without the magwell - it absolutely would fit the bill. IDPA is more gun handling intensive in CO than is USPSA so the light weight is a bigger benefit - since the speed is a bit slower on the shooting the stability of heavy guns is less of an advantage that it is in USPSA

Not for sighting purposes but if it’s light weight it gives you a wider berth for manipulations

The dual recoil spring on a G34 Gen4/5 isn't just there for show or recoil impulse. It's there for better barrel lockup. Why Shadow Systems decided to stay with a single spring setup is puzzling. Also, it is well known 9mm Pmags suck balls. They could have truly upped the ante by doing a steel mag that holds 20+ rounds, but the Magpuls wind up with cracked feed lips.
I think the Magpul magazines are there as a place holder for real glock mags. RE: The springs - the accuracy that the SS guns have is kind of difficult to argue with. They're absurdly accurate.
@@TheHumbleMarksman As I don't own one, I can't speak for head-to-head accuracy of a DR920L over a G34. However, I simply don't see a how some extra CNC milling and a pretty barrel contribute to a 100% increase in street price, or for claims of "innovation" over a stock Glock.
@@9unslin9er value is subjective - the frame is also a pretty big improvement - once you pass about the 500$ mark the diminishing returns curve kicks in pretty hard. I have a bunch of Glocks and now a few SS guns - I much prefer to shoot the SS guns - for whatever that is worth.
Oh come on glock is ground breaking they just brought out a new trigger that there not putting in any of there guns,
And the polymer they use for the grip definitely doesn't look like chopped up and reused milk bottles with black colouring.

I love how the shadow systems handle but a thousand dollar MSRP for that shitty, spongy ass trigger is a joke. Who wants to pay that and then have to change the trigger anyway or have pretty much the equivalent of a gen 5 trigger? They can’t give them away resale around my area. There has been a DR920 sitting on AL for weeks at 750 in like new condition. Barely worth that imo. Plus I’m not sold on their reliability either. I’ve had a lot of jams with the various models I’ve had..😊

Shadow system looks good but feels really cheap. .
When you spend $1,500 on a pistol THEN have to put 1000 rounds through it , change the spring and trigger to just make it reliable and good to shoot.
