Since you had the oil pan off I would of at least pulled the pickup screen off to see if what was left of the valve guide seals were in the screen, they restrict oil flow leading to low oil pressure issues. The worn exhaust valve guides will lead to blowback , it will start at high way speed getting progressively worse, that four barrel and cam did not help the situation as for extending the life of that engine, 318s are tough little engines and will give you a 400 thousand miles service life if they are properly maintained...wish I still had my 73 sattilite, it was a beautiful car.

Awesome, these videos have me mesmerized! In the previous video I was wondering why you didn't work on the block first (the peripheral items are not likely to be show stoppers), but this video provided all the answers. I guess the secret is having a lot of experience with rebuilds/restorations which lets you size up the potential gotchas of a project like this. From the big coolant puddle in the previous video I speculated a broken water jacket, but fortunately not. A leaking freeze plug on a 318, imagine that! The color and luster brought to the surface by buffing and polishing is just astounding. Love that throaty engine roar near the end of the video - what a sweet sound! As a former 72 Challenger owner these videos really tug on my heart strings.

Subscriber but AGAIN disappointed without at least a cameo appearance of Mook! Ain’t watching any more of your content until there is a triumphant return of the junkyard Mook! Hopefully others feel the same, her silliness made your channel!

Bro --- when breaking in cams on cars you can fill the radiator up with hot water from kettle, it opens thermostat before you start motor and you can get air bubbles out then, before motor starts, then no overheating on cam break-ins...👍

It is alive!!! You are like a surgeon doing a triple bypass on a heart and bam 💥, good as new. Like you said Mr. Kevin she’s pretty rust free for being an Iowa car her whole life. If that car was from NJ it would be a rusted out shitbox with all the salt we dump on the streets for snow. That’s the reason for a lot of cars demise here and it’s a shame. Can’t wait to see you on the road trip back to your hometown and the rest of the story that goes with it!!! 👍🏻😁
