  • 3 Clean & Strip discs to get through old vinyl, glue, base coat & primer back to bare steel. Steel is slightly pitted in places but as it’s going under a new vinyl, no need to get it super smooth. Used a wire wheel on a drill to clean the pits. WD40 to protect the bare steel for a few days as I had no time to paint it.
WD40 worked a treat but took a fair bit of white spirit, soapy water, and finally paint wipes to get off.
Mixed a little too much Raptor Epoxy 2k primer so the car got 3 coats instead of 2.
Good stuff but hard to clean the gun afterwards.
Roof now protected better as it had a lot of surface rust before. New lower rear windscreen corners needed next to weld in.

No it was from one of the Mk 3 club guys. Not sure where they were sourced. Not seen that graphite grey before on a Mk3

Well played, the repair section piece is hard to get without donor parts, hats off, and you working outside so double respect. Pete.

Cheers Pete. Hoping to get the shell into my workshop in the next few weeks. It's killing me that its outside in this weather!

Thankfully yes. That disc is loud and total time sanding was probably 2 hours. Will have to pick my moments for the other panels!
