I’m going to commit to this. One hour really hyper focusing on Barr chords. I finally got my Barr chords back but need to really nail it as I’m changing chords. The what and why? This grandma is going to be a Rock Star 😃😃😃😄. This video definitely inspired me to keep going. Thank you, Erich. 🙏🙏🙏
Yo this was a huge help! I picked up guitar after conquering brain cancer this summer and I have absolutely fallen in love with it. I typically do sessions of 20-30minutes 2-3x a day and I have plateaued recently so I will be pushing myself to do 1hr sessions with no distractions and see how much better it feels overtime. Thanks for the insight friend.
I am happy to say- Thanks to Erich's lessons and encouragement, I don't suck, 🙂 That said, there is always room for improvement and my fingers and my brain are always working on it.
Lots of truth here. This is why I still suck. But, I know working on something then taking a break and coming back works, it just does, it's like your brain processes it.
The major/minor 69er is still the key! As always I think you make great points here and the why is a struggle for me. It's like I can't focus and as a result my playing progresses slower than it should. Lots to consider!
I feel like when I was learning as a teen I really focused on and learned the basics pretty quick and then just thought I had it. Then I see pro guitarists online all the time and realize I don’t know much. I wish someone had slapped me back when I had the extra time that I don’t have now and said learn more theory.
Why?? That's a tough question. Defining my 'why' is hard. I love music and I want to be able to play riffs, intros and some solos from my favorite music. Does that make me a noodler, or someone who is just wandering and lost in the woods of rock music??? So, this answers why I still suck at guitar. So, now how to begin?
John, start with the basics as everybody needs to cover the basics. You can do that here, which is my gift to whoever desires: www.yourguitarsage.com/30 From there, doing the things you desire like you mention is the path to go. Does not make sense to practice fingerstyle guitar if you don’t love that, no matter how much a guitar teacher tells you to do that. Answering the question as to why you want to play guitar and as detailed a way as possible will help determine what you should be spending time on and how much time you should be spending on it. 👍
Daniel, watch the strumming video in this series and go to the exercises that I provide with that mindset, and what I tell you in the video, and you will be set. My gift to you: www.yourguitarsage.com/30
No I am pretty sure I just don't have that autistic creativity, sense of timing, nor heart felt ambition to put my fingers where they belong, when they belong there, and in a manner that would bring harmony as opposed to noise and discord. But maybe I am over thinking it.

It is all learned, which is why no infants play guitar. 👍
