  • Morey's Fears was a Halloween themed event held on Morey's Mariner's Pier in Wildwood, NJ during October 2011 and 2012. Dark in the Park talked with Jack Morey about the possibility of Morey's Fears returning to the boardwalk. This report was produced by Bill Cherkasky.

A Dark theme ride for this era is very rare and delightful at the same time! Reminds me of the old hunt's Pier and dark rides and mine tour Ride.

You know what you can do is make the back of the pier the adult haunted attractions and make the main mariners pier, just decorative to Halloween, so it won’t scare the kids.

I honestly think Morey's biggest mistake with Terror on the Boardwalk was the fact that it was only a nighttime and high intensity attraction. What they should have done was follow the same pattern that Dorney Park and Six Flags Great Adventure uses for their Halloween events in that there's a thing for kids and families during the daytime and the scary stuff when the sun goes down. I think they actually learned this lesson when they replaced Terror with Oktoberfest, especially since they also have introduced two kid-friendly mascots for the event in Okto the Octopus and Hans the Seagull

It would be great to come back. Sick of the beer and partying. They can still do Oktober fest...just do Morey's Fears first since that is more dependent on weather. Do it for two weeks mid-late Sept and then transition into October fest for 2 weeks, or vice versa.

I'm just going to point it out: Morey's has probably made more money this year on plush seagulls than they ever did with the two years they did Terror on the Boardwalk
Edit: although I'd love for them to bring it back just for them to make a Halloween-themed seagull along the lines of the Oktoberfest seagull they introduced this year, maybe replace the hat with a witches hat, replace the french fry/pizza slice/pretzel with a piece of candy corn or pumpkin pie and have the wings of the bird either a skeleton print or orange with black tips

I wonder if this contributes to the high ass prices to ride the rides on the piers...

Will it return? No. Because it's rather cold in lare October especially when there's a nighttime sea breeze. Not to mention the fact that both Six Flags in Jackson and Dorney Park in Allentown do very similar events at the same time means people really aren't going to want to make the trip down to Wildwood for it. And that's not even going into the fact that haunted houses are flops here in the Wildwoods, with Morey's Ghost Ship being closed since 2019
