A remedy for pride caused by an inflated ego is a meaningful story of Omar, the second rightly guided Khalifa, may Allah be pleased with him.
He once went up on a platform and called for people to listen, "When I was little I used to work as a shepherd for the people of Mecca. So I would take sheeps, get them to drink, milk them, and clean beneath them. And they [people of Mecca] used to give me a handful of dates that they would put right into my hands. So if you did not know this about me, then you know now."
When he came down, another companion told him wondering "you did nothing but humiliate yourself." Omar replied "exactly that. My nafs/myself had thoughts about me being the leader of the believers, so I wanted to discipline it."
Every phrase in that speech is him deliberately belittling himself. There are few similar narrations with different wording and different companions asking about the reason for such a speech, so probably Omar used to do this often, may Allah have mercy on his soul.

    Al-A'raf. The Heights.
    Verse 11 and 12.
Surely We created you, then shaped you, then said to the angels, “Prostrate before Adam,” so they all did-but not Iblis, who refused to prostrate with the others.
Allah asked, “What prevented you from prostrating when I commanded you?” He replied, “I am better than he is: You created me from fire and him from clay.”
    Verse 16 and 17.
He said, “For leaving me to stray I will lie in ambush for them on Your Straight Path.
I will approach them from their front, their back, their right, their left, and then You will find most of them ungrateful.”

U reminded me of this hadith where abou jahl was asked about why he didn't believe in the prophet and he said :
We and Banu Abd Manaf disputed honor. They fed and we fed. They carried and we carried. They gave and we gave. Even when we got on our knees and we were like a betting horse, they said: There is a prophet among us who receives revelation from the sky. So when do we realize this? By God we never believe in Him nor do we believe Him.
    Pride prevented him from believing.

Quran Chapter 29 verses 40: Example of those (jews) who have taken from (among them) allies (agents: paul, mathew, mark luke john) other than Allah is like the spider who builds a house. Indeed the weakest of houses is surely the house of spider (only weak flies fall into believing those agents).
Quran Chapter 29 verses 41: Indeed Allah knows what they (jews) ask from (their agents: paul, mathew, mark luke john is to set up) besides Him anything (they could find with from greek gods, egyptian gods as gods so that Allah's hand can be chained with jews only and their enemy white supremacist can be destroyed with all sort confusion). And Allah is all Powerful and all wise (He did send Prophet Muhammad to clarify all things at the right time and place).
Quran Chapter 29 verses 42: And these examples we set forth to mankind but not will understand them (jewsih agents: paul, mathew, mark luke john) except those of knowledge.
Quran Chapter 14: verses 24: Have you not considered how Allah presents an example, pure word (Quran) like a pure tree, whose root is firmly fixed and its branches [high] in the sky?
Quran Chapter 14:verses 25: It (Quranic Tree) produces its fruit (believers) all the time, by permission of its Lord. And Allah presents examples for the people that perhaps they will be reminded.
Quran Chapter 14:verses 26: And the example of impure corrupted bad word (torah, bible) is like an impure tree, uprooted from the surface of the earth, not having any stability.
Quran Chapter 14:verses 27: Allah keeps firm those who believe, with the firm word (Quran), in worldly life and in the Hereafter. And Allah sends astray the wrongdoers. And Allah does what He wills.
Quran Chapter 14. verses 28: Have you not considered those (jewish agents: paul, mathew, mark. luke, and john) who changed the favours of Allah (core teachings of all previous messengers) into disbelief (a blasphemous faith) in order to settle their people (jewish brothers) in the house of ruins (jewish supremacy, prior to which jewish supremacy was unsettled due to the independency of white pegan faith with respect to judaism).
Quran Chapter 14 verses 29: In Hell they will burn. What an evil place for settlement.
Quran Chapter 14 verses 30: They set up equals to Allah (jesus, ghost) to mislead (truth seekers) from His Path (Monotheism, Prophet Muhammad). Say, (O Prophet,) “Enjoy (your victory of jewish supremacy over white supremacy)! But indeed your destination is the Fire.
Quran Chapter 14 verses 31: [O Muhammad], tell My servants who have believed (the firm word, the Quran ) to establish prayer and spend from what We have provided them, secretly and publicly, before a Day comes in which there will be no exchange, nor any friendships.
Quran Chapter 5 verses 47: And let the People of the Gospel establish (canonize) about what Allah has revealed therein (if they could through applying a canonization criterion on the ensemble of different "gospels"). And (since they cannot, let them know that) whoever does not canonize (deicide on scriptures either gospel or torah) by what Allah has revealed (to you, the Quran as a criterion) - then it is those who are the defiantly disobedient.
