I learned this technique from your video done a little while ago. I tried it and it turned out great. Thanks for showing this. I first learned to sew from my mother about 65 years ago but never tried quilting fabric or making bags from fabric. It goes to show you are never too old to learn.😊
Thank you for putting this out for us! I have been sewing since the Covid shutdowns and have fallen in love with the different things about sewing that I have learned. Looking forward to more from you😁
To answer your question, no I haven’t made a quilted bag yet but do plan on making a couple of them, which is why I sought out your video. I’m wanting to do the diamond quilts like you did!!! This video was VERY helpful!!! Thank you for such a great demonstration and wonderful advise on cutting the fabric out an inch longer before quilting, then cutting it down to size it to the size required for the bag that is being made. You did a perfect, flawless job at teaching how to do this. Before watching this video, I was so lost and confused on how to do this. I have got a walking foot with a quilting guide and would love to see a video on how to use that guide and what that upward curved part on the guide is for and how it is used. Thank you so much for this video!! You’ve got a new subscriber!!! ❤️❤️❤️
I’ve made bags with fabric that was quilted by the maker. The stitching was a bit large and sometimes the thread would snag on the foot. It was a good reminder that you get what you pay for. Now I know to assess the quality of the quilting more carefully!
Quilting your pattern pieces may take a little more time, but it really is worth the effort. Your finished bag will be gorgeous! Thanks Sara for sharing this tutorial!
Sara, great to see you!!! This video was very helpful. I also use the bars on the walking foot to help make the lines so I don't need to draw the lines. I try to quilt most of my bags, either quilting it or embroidering it. Thank you Sara!!
Yes, I've made several of your patterns and I like to quilt them. Sometimes I'll start with a large piece of exterior fabric and quilt it on my longarm, then cut out the pattern pieces.
Yes I have quilted bag. I have taken a a yard of fabric for the front and a yard of fabric for the back and sandwiched the sot and stable between the fabric and had the whole thing quilted and then cut out my pieces.
I am new to quilting and would like to see the video of the bag from start to completion. Also, where can I buy the template? I would love to have this as my first quilted bag. Thank you.
Thank you Sara, yes I have made quilting totes and the look so much better when quilted. I have a question for you, I have trouble with my walking foot quite a bit, the arm that raises up and down always sticks, I have to stop all the time to drop it down, very frustrating! Thank you again! 💚
When sewing the lines in the video, you did the one line you did from the top to the bottom; do you do ALL the lines from the top to the bottom, or can you turn it each time you get to the edge and go from the bottom to the top every other row? Thanks for your wonderful tutorial, it looked fantastic!!
that's a good question! I don't think it really matters as Sara has drawn lines and therefore isn't getting any warping which I think is the main reason for alternating direction.

I have made a quilted purse. It turned out great
I'm making a quilted bag now, and it's my first one. It's taking a little more time, but I really like the look of the quilted fabric.
Hi did you use interfacing to the fabric thanks
Such a great video and tutorial! Thank you.
I think I'll do this for my Clydebank bag since I have to sew in the Soft and Stable anyway and others had issues with the wrinkling fusible stuff.
I’ve quilted on faux leather and it looks so cool! Lazy curved lines are so easy to quilt if you don’t want do a bunch of marking. 😜
Thank you for the informative tutorial, Jess

Did you leave a link someplace for the double zip pouches? Thanks for the tips!
Sara you make everything look so easy🙂
I have made a quilted small bag with my embroidery machine, but I have not made a larger one. It would be fun!!
Thank you. Could you use iron foam but press it out towards the end of bag making?
Yes I have made several bags and pouches that I quilted
Good tips starting in the middle
Thank you Sara, yes I have made quilting totes and the look so much better when quilted. I have a question for you, I have trouble with my walking foot quite a bit, the arm that raises up and down always sticks, I have to stop all the time to drop it down, very frustrating! Thank you again! 💚
Hi the sew in foam how thick should we use for bags and is there a different name it’s called by? And can we use batting? Thank you so much!
Yes, I have made a quilted bag before. I will be making more in the next coming months
Thank you Sara

Wouldn’t it make more sense to quilt the large yardage before cutting the separate pieces?
What is the thickness of the foam that you used ?
Thank you

I don't see the link for the filigree bag.
I have not made a bag before ,
I have done all the necessary for k
Kitchen.
Can i use fleece instead of foam, i have always used batting before for quilting?
I'm wondering why you don't mark your lines from start to finish with a crisp line. You jiggle your fingers back and forth and leave choppy marks. :)
