I have made a few bags with piping, getting better, your tutorial is very good! and has helped me. I need wonder under! and like you Sara I have bags everywhere in the house.
I am quickly turning into a bag lady after you visited our guild in St. Charles, IL. I put piping on a slipcover I made for a chair and I made the Rockstar bag with piping. I can't wait for the Minikins! I put a note in my calendar to watch you on Sunday so I can see them all. I purchased a bunch of fat quarters yesterday, so I'm ready to go when they are released!
Thank you for all your precious time to help me learn to sew. I know we are continents away and England is not the heart of crafts as is your wonderful country is. I am viewing this video in January 2021 So you can appreciate that your skills are very much in trend right now. I cannot work at the moment because I am a Driving Instructor and I’m taking full advantage of all you lovely Americans and Canadians and your awesome skills. Much love, Susan x
I'm new at making my own piping but I am going to try that wonder under. I have used that for hemming for years, but back 30 yrs ago when I sewed I could buy all kinds of piping, but no longer is that the case. Thanks for the great tip.
Great tip for making continuous piping. Your tutorial makes the piping on a finished bag so much more professional looking! I wish all my bag patterns included measurements for that detail. I'm a bag lady too. I have this obsession with sewing new bag patterns I've fallen in love with.
I’m a proud bag lady! I really enjoy your videos. You have a pleasant personality and are a good teacher. I’m going to get your Satellite bag and video. I really appreciate the videos. To answer your question, I prefer to stream rather than DVD. Keep up the good work.
I've never put piping on a bag but over 25 year's ago, when I reupholstered my sofa cushions I had to include piping. I loved your tutorial especially adding the zipper pouches. Thanks you
I love using piping on bags, clothes and home Dec. I use my serger to create and insert piping to my projects. Babylock has piping feet for my serger. Very easy to do.
I am an old lady and I have never made anything more than curtains for my house. I am excited to get started in bag making. I would really like it if you could show us how to make the Hermes Victoria Mushroom Travel Bag from 2021. It's just the perfect shape bag and I really, really want to make it. Also, have you worked with mushroom fabric yet? Thank you so much.
First thanks so much for sharing your knowledge. Second, I’m assuming this will correspond to 1/2” seams when done? How do you account for different sized seams? Thanks in advance. 😊
enjoyed the video ..just starting making bags . I like the fused pipping but i am developing different size totes. would i measure the perimeter with cord and then straighten out to measure to derive a length?
Sounds feasible to me but normally piping for totes would only go along the sides and not the top. Feel free to email sara@sewsweetness.com and she will be happy to help you :)
My quilting ruler is 6 1/2" by 24" and I got it from my local quilt shop. It looks like Sara's is wider but you shouldn't have any trouble finding one at a quilt shop.
I am going to add piping to a bag with round corners. Should I tack it within the seam allowance to the front and back of the bag before attaching them to the gusset? (I have yet to watch your video🤐)
I am a bag lady! Love to make mini cross-body bags. Really like the shape of the black bag you have on the table. That shape is ideal for carrying supplements. I can't find a tutorial for that shape of bag on you tube. Would you please do a tutorial for yours, thanks so much!!!
Love the interfacing idea! If you joined the two pieces together with a mitered seam why would you not have done the same when you joined the ends together?
Hi Sara! Great video :) I'm curious, can you share the equation you use to determine the length of your endless piping? I haven't ever seen it done that way before and just love the look of it (without the ugly cross over). I'm assuming it's just a bit of (probably "smarter than a 5th grader" HA!) math that allows you to figure out the exact measurement. Thanks! Loving all your videos!
Thank you, this 79 years year old learned a new trick 💕👵🏻
I’m definitely a bag lady and never worked with piping. Thank you.
Just found this, this is awesome. I’m cutting out a new handbag and definitely going to try this.
No, never used it as it scares me. I'm keen to try now after seeing your tutorial. Thank you 😸
