Will is truly a master of his craft by making it look so effortless. His highs and lows are brutal but so clean at the same time. He’s on a whole different level than other vocalists in this genre.

This playthrough is unreal. It's one thing to do sounds like this on a record, you can do all the takes you want to get what you want, but to be able to recreate a studio recording with 90% accuracy is absolutely incredible. And that 10%, he didn't miss, he just did something different that sounded just as cool. I'd love to see your reaction to his new one-take for Of The Abyss, it's almost just as insane!

Seeing him live was an absolutely amazing moment. He has such a stage presence and what amazed me more was his ability to move around the stage so much while being able to maintain his vocals.

Big facts
The way you feel is how I felt when I first listened to this type of metal. I appreciated the talent and parts of the songs a lot but overall I found it too heavy and didn't think the vocal style was for me. Now I can no longer find anything too heavy for me, it's just exhilarating. I absolutely adore everything about this band's music.
Isn't it crazy that Will has asthma on top of the fact that it should already be impossible to do this? How does he even breathe? I lose my breath just trying to talk on the phone, haha

Ramos is a beast, what I really like about his voice is that area between the super lows and the highs he seems to be able to simultaneously use the highs and lows when he’s in that range, that’s some insane technique

My personal favorite aspect is how clear most of his words are. With harsh vocals of any variety barring maybe some of the mid-high fry type vocals, think Shagrath from Dimmu Borgir or Jari of Wintersun, a lot of diction gets lost by very nature of the style. I like that I can hear what he's saying at all ranges, especially when vocal rhythms line up with everything else. Gives it that extra punch.

Will Ramos used to be in a band called A Wake In Providence and being the new front man for Lorna Shore brought the whole deathcore scene to it's knees when they released the 3 song EP. It's quite a good EP to listen to. He's such a dynamic vocalist with how clean his highs and lows are. He's a legend in the making for the deathcore scene.
Will is amazing, truly deserves the recognition he's getting and all the Lorna shore members for that matter.

That's awesome that you notice the small details in the mouth shape and tongue placement. Been doing metal vocals for over 10 years(not professionally), and it really is like playing an instrument. There's a lot of moving parts and small muscle groups to coordinate and it really does take tons of practice. You can seriously jack your voice by doing it wrong, though the same can be said for clean vocals or just overuse.
I’ve always been drawn to the intricacies and details in music! 10 years?! That’s awesome, I bet you can throw down some cool vocals. Yes the voice for sure is an organic instrument 🔥

I too found the music video mix to cover up Will's vocals more than I'd like, aside from the end.
@@confidentship7335 If I had to guess, the reason they mixed the vocals like that was to keep the mix more clear. There are a lot of competing frequencies, especially when the song is low and fast. The bass drums are also tuned a little higher than what I would consider normal and I think that is the reason. It's very likely that having the vocals louder or even just placed differently in the mix would take away from the impact of a lot of parts of the track. Which, having listened to both versions quite a few times, I think that is the case seeing as how nothing in the vocal playthrough mix hits quite as hard.

The last like 40 seconds of the song is an absolute masterclass in different sounds for screams.... like the "swallowed" right as the last section starts is absolutely nuts to be able to do. Not only changing sounds on alternating words but changing sounds on syllables of words is insanely hard. Also that second to last scream being one continuous scream requires some ridiculous breath control and focus.

One of the better covers of this song is actually done by a woman, Bobbi Vanet. Her lows come closer to the original than her highs. I recommend checking it out. Will is the absolute best with growls and screams and most of the covers don’t even come close to his level. But hers is still pretty good.

I feel like this whole metal scene is grown on you a little bit
Super extreme metal is an acquired taste, more so than most other genres, including extreme ones. Fact that you can even appreciate it for what it is, despite not liking it says something about your understanding of different types of music and the talent required to make said music. I'm basically like this with extensive classical orchestra-type music - I can really appreciate it, but I won't listen to it much at all on my own.
