      @@NowinLao What’s amazing is the combination of the age of Google Street View (2014?) and the growth of vegetation and new building of Laos.
      My Lao language skills are pathetic. I will say to a khon Lao : “Sok dii der”.
      I’ll get a response such as “555 falang wow passa lao dai dii lai lai der”.
      I’ll continue with a “khoy sang jao” or a “khoy yak kin ob sin ma”.
      Such skills won’t get me far.

    Todd, thanks for posting content at such a high frequency. I was an English teacher in Laos but, because of covid, I had to go back to the states. Through your videos, I've been watching them vicariously. I can't wait to go back. Seeing the market, the red dirt roads, the mountains, listening to you describe the storms, and vent about the heat over there is just nostalgic. Keep cranking out those vids. Have a blessed day!

    Thanks Todd for shoveling us a typical day. How often do you go to market for the restaurant? Do you think Lao will ever change? I’ve been in the food business for over 40 years. We call our orders in to the companies and they deliver or place the order on line for delivery. My brother in law had a South East Asian restaurant and grocery store. He used to go to the local produce market at 4:30 AM to get all his produce and then go to Chinatown to get fresh noodles. This way it would be fresh when the store opened. Maybe the market needs to have some hours early in the morning for restaurants. Do any of the farms do a co-op thing? Thanks again and take good care. Hope all are well. 🍻 Cheers!

    great video of market, which is cleaner than what i’m used to seeing in philippines and indonesia. abundance of food after lockdown is encouraging. interesting that in all of your videos i see nothing overtly indicating that the lao peoples democratic republic is a “command economy.” does the lao pdr government simply focus on politics and leave the private sector economy free to operate in a capitalist style? i’m not judging, just wondering. is the seafood trucked in or flown from thailand? it should be expensive. oh, and why wouldn’t you bring one of the restaurant staff along to help? cheers.

    hahah same here in central China with the traffic and folk driving down one way roads etc, quick little story for ya all, I bought a new car in South China Hainan Island after living next to the beach for a full yr, decided to drive to the wife's village central china a good 3 full day drive etc, we crossed the sea with a ferry and started on our merry way, lovely scenery though, came to this mountain, and it was a single track road and sign saying the drive across this mountain is 5 hours so make sure your tank is full etc, so off we went car packed solid with everything, after 3 hours got to the peak of the mountain and guess what now do not forget its a single track road only... BLOODY road works top of mountain whole damn road dug up for miles and plonkers still trying to cross over the boulders and i mean BOULDERS LOL.. i also tried hahha until, the 5ft holes prevented me from going any further, PLONKERS did not even think about putting a sign up bottom of the mountain to say dear drivers road is closed due to road construction top of mountain FFS, mate I was gobsmacked and totally FUMING but eh ho, we went down and around lol..

      ..the reason I ask is I need to run a RUclips ad campaign for my English learning app...and I can't find any channels in Laos with a decent following. My ad videos are quite funny hence wanting to target comedy channels as well as language learning. Myanmar, Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia = easy! Laos = hard! Please help if you can.

      Hey Will, i'm not really sure mate, it's not something that shows up on my feed. Do you have Facebook? I know this American guy who has lived here with his wife many years and he does a bit of comedy. Maybe he could point you in the right direction. If ya interested, message me on my Now in Lao FB page and i'll send you his details. If he doesn't know, nobody does.

    Hey Todd, mate, do farangs hire drivers in Laos very much? I ask because I don't drive, (various reasons), and my missus is a bit flighty behind the wheel. We want to visit and clearly we need a car there. Is it like Vietnam ,where you can get a driver for a reasonable price? Also, any passionfruit grown over there? I never see it in the fruit stalls you show. Have a good one,all the best.

    • @NowinLao
      @NowinLao  3 года назад +1

      Sure they do mate... but can be a little pricey if you're hiring the car also. Best bet would be having your own car or arranging a vehicle to use, then hiring a driver. Be really cost effective that way considering the average monthly wage here is only about $200 US a month.
      Will keep my eye out for passionfruit for you. Pretty sure I've had it here.. 🤔

      @@NowinLao Cheers mate. I only ask about the passionfruit as I'm looking for a viable business idea over there., a niche in the market. Grasping at straws I spose. I've been teaching English for over 20 years, had about enough of that. Never mind, onwards and upwards.

    Hey Todd,, the market trips are the best! Id love to spend time there. How are you both doing? Poor Neenee must be working her tail off,,she looks a bit tired. Well my friend,,ive been doing some thinking and you have inspired me. I think im going to buy some editing software and a gopro 7 or 8 or even the Max. Over her they range from 229 us to 500us for the Max. Id be glad to take recomendations lol. I think the time has come for a Mountainman vlog and storytime lol. I do know a huge ammount of history of the western U.S. The battle of the little big horn or Custer battle, probaby the most famous of the Indian wars happened about 15 miles from my house. Basically all the major fights with the Sioux or more properly the Lakota happened within 150 miles. I think i could come up with something interesting,,, not 7 days a week though. Anyway,, its an idea at this point. Thanks for the trip to the market.. tell Neenee she has to take care of herself,, rest when she needs to rest and delegate tasks to her helpers. We dont want her back at the hospital. Take care friends,,,ttyl Marlon

      @Disaster Zondi thank you for your comment.. by the way, my great grandfather emigrated from Germany when he was between 4 and 8 in the 1870's. I dont know anything about where he was from, because neither he nor his parents ever spoke of Germany. I know he could still swear in German though. He was kind of a mystery even to my grandfater and his siblings. My Grandpa and all my Granduncles and Grandaunts were really nice , good people,so the old man must have done something right. 2 of the Grandaunts lived to be 101 and 104 respectively. See,, lol im a jabbermouth, once i start thinking i cant shut up lol thanks again and take care in Germany
