- Subscriber nalim27 was very kind to send me a huge box of assorted food items sourced in the Czech Republic. Let's get stuck in and see what we have here...
Obviously there's too much here to taste today in this video, so after opening a couple of items, we will save the rest - but everything you see in this video will get opened and tasted in future videos - perhaps while I am out in the forest - maybe just at home on a rainy Sunday afternoon. As and when that happens, I will try to remember to link it below here:
The strawberry and blueberry biscuits and the lemon wafers and chocolate nut wafers, in this video: • Random Stuff - Seed Up...
The Fidorka biscuit and the Maggi Pasta packet, in this video: • A Wander In The Forest
The Krupky snacks, the Urquell Pilsner and the Utopenci, in this video: • Random Stuff - Spatula...
The chocolates, here: • Random Stuff - Czech C...
"czech it out" always love a good wordplay
I agree :-)
Absolutely
There is no "bad" or "mediocre" wordplay. Wordplay is always a real success.
@Atomic Shrimp - one interesting note. That word "Ovobobule" you like is some new word made by marketing department. I think best translation is "Fruberries". Ovo is part of word Fruit and Bobule means Berries. Therefore Fruberries :-)
Was about to say that.
There you are :D
I like that unlike other channels you actually plan what to do with the food and are not wasting it. And damn that is a nice guideline sheet hats off to nalim27.
Thanks
Yeah, no waste and great info to go along! Love it.
Yeah that sheet called for a lot of work. Well done, nalim27.
Utopenci should be eaten cold or on room temperature. Do not cook them, just open jar, eat some and put other (still in the jar) into fridge.
Or - if you want to go where no man was before - then you can cook them ..... I think you will not like them.
But .... who knows?
I can't wait to try them. Are they normally eaten together with mustard?
Man, I love the attention to detail with that cheat sheet with color pictures and all. Well done.
@@Ghost_Of_SAS Thank you.
@@AtomicShrimp Hmmmm normally they are eaten without mustard. Just with bread. I think that acid taste is not good together with mustard.
But in some pubs there are served with mustard and/or horseradish too.
So try some without mustard, some with - it depends just on your personal taste and preferences.
Wery nice indeed
It seems you have quite a few Czech viewers! I wonder why that is. Such a delight to watch you open the box and look at all these items which are so familiar to me but so exotic to you! :D
I love new food experiences - it's like travelling without going anywhere!
Those spa waffers are actually originally from the western spa towns of the Czech Republic, like Mariánské Lázně (which is the one the waffers you've got are from) or Karlovy Vary, I'd venture to say the most known spa town. The common thing to see in these towns are small waffer shops in which these exact waffers are sold warm, for about 8-10 Czech Crowns (which is about 0.40$) They're extremely delicious when eaten warm, while walking through the spa towns colonades.
And here's a greeting from one great citizen of one of these Czech spa towns!
Awesome vid as always and it's so nice to see familiar products being reviewed by one of my fav channels!
Those Kolonáda wafers are even better when they are warm. Indeed, I have never eaten anything better than that. And I am 69 and have lived in several different countries and visited even more of them.
I always preferred cold ones. But the best thing is that there are so many different flavors of these.
@@davidmartinek5257 To each his own. :-) I just have great memories from my childhood getting them still warm as they were made in front of my own eyes in Mariánské Lázně. Both, the smell and the taste, were out of this world.
As a fellow Czech viewer myself, I was thinking about the possibility of sending something too as I do really enjoy the content on this channel, so it's very surprising that somebody has already sent you some of the most explicitly Czech products! I would personally say that there are maybe some more chocolate bars and drinks that are worth of representing our assortment of sweets, nevertheless the person sending you went really above and beyond and picked a lot of interesting things for you to see and taste. Knowing most of these products myself, you are in for a treat! :)
You can send second package next time :-)
@@nalim27 Maybe! I mean, Kofila and Kaštany, Studentská, Kofola... there's still a lot of great and unique foodstuffs to taste!
@@janev.3289 I know .... there is plenty more .... but box size is limited and wallet too :-)
@@nalim27 The price of all the contents of this box was already above and beyond, so it's understandable not everything will be there! It was lovely from the sender to ship such a packed box :)
An original Bud, bud :)
This was great fun! Looking forward to seeing you compose your own Czech Army ration pack from these goodies and sample them on a field trip.
That's actually exactly what I had in mind - the days are too short now (and wet) for a civilian like me to field test a 24 hour ration, but I will assemble a main meal and some snacks out of this lot, and spend the daylight hours out in the woods cooking and eating them
Enjoyable video - one fo my favourite things to do when abroad is visit a supermasrket and pick up a few random things. Those picked sausages look great.
Many decades ago, when I was in high school, a fellow student said he had traveled to France. He could not read french and bought a can of food and said he later found out it was a can of dog food. He said it tasted good. We all had a good laugh over that story. This of course was before the internet and cell phones, and AI for instant translators. No siri to ask back in the pay phone era.
Some of these Czech foods are in Poland too like the bebe product. It clearly says dobre rano which means good morning
Tak!
Having crossed Europe all over (for work) i can tell you that there's a ton of products that cross borders with slight changes to their packaging, aside from the obvious language change. To some, that's not ok, to me, with a few exceptions, it's a good thing, gives food comfort, i can find a snack here or there. :D
@@aserta true
Well as far as I understand it Czech, Slovak and Polish are roughly mutually intelligible, so that's hardly surprising.
Yes it's roughly dobre rano in all three of them.
I love how this is 'I'll not try most of them now, as that will waste food', I watch ALOT of these food unboxings or taste testing things and they always open it have like 1-2 or two peices/bits and go 'I'll have the rest later', I keep screaming at the screen 'YOU'RE WASTING FOOD DAMN IT!' I feel so much more relaxed knowing the food won't be opened, tasted slightly and put aside to probably not be open.
I think that almost all food in this channel was eaten later and not wasted. Except some food experiments and not tasty food.
Atomic Shimp can confirms or disprove this.
Maybe all of them are just extremely hungry and really eat all of them :) But I guess they rather share it with others (I would do that, like behind the screen staff and stuff)
You're an idiot.
You're one of those that can actually make sense of things. Unfortunately rare.
@@404killer damn chill
“Czech it out” made me actually lol.
I commend the sender for the detailed cheat sheets. He’s the real hero.
Oh we can send in our own weird food items?
*laughs suspiciously in Dutch*
The Surströmming?
That will definitelly kill Atomic Shrimp :-D
@@nalim27 I think Surströmming is swedish
Isn't that Swedish though? ;)
@@IfeelKindaSick Maybe .... Probably Dutch have some deadly stuff in a can too :-)
Dutch food is really good, except for salty licorice.
Nalim27, how generous of you and the wife to send all of that to AS!
Must have cost you a ton. The cheat sheet is a work of art!
Yes, I approve of this unboxing
I agree. It's definitely ovobobule.
"They've lost my parcel".
They've ate it :P
That is an AWESOME gift box!
Very nice of him to send it!
Great Fun opening it ☺
Thanks
Good job nalim27.
Its interesting to see foods from other countries. I can imagine a box from Asia containing packets of fried locusts
You sound 27 and 50 at the same time.
Amazing video.
I suppose it's fair to say I haven't done a lot of growing up since my 20s...
Why do I watch the food videos at bed time????? Now I am starving and wishing I wasn't in the middle of nowhere and 0 chance of getting any of these. Thank you for all your content, you are my favorite youtube personality!
Enjoyed the unboxing.
The pilsners would be a treat.
Great as always. Great Job Melon27
You always make these unboxing videos enjoyable! Very fun to see new stuff from around the world (thank you nalim27) and your opinion on them.
Shrimp is a lucky bloke to get all those goodies. XD
He deserve all of them :-)
Let me make a yt channel to get free stuff! :D
My great grandmother was full Czech. Loved watching! Cheers!
I'm sitting here in Prague, about to go grocery shopping, looking suggestions from this video!
Most of those are available here in Hungary too. So strange watching someone who has never seen such things but I come across or eat them every day :D
I love your videos. I got so excited when I saw the links to four more videos I’ve not seen yet about some of the treats in the box here. 😄👌🏽
really enjoyed this unboxing it's cool seeing foods and sweets from other countries i often get bored of the same old stuff here in the UK lol
funnily enough i just bought a big box of japanese candy looking forward to getting it
Your a genius. Your content is the best.
Thank you so much nalim27!
You are welcome.
@alan wake They are good but I'm afraid hard to eat :-))
Nice gift box. I was excited about the mustard and large round flat cookies (biscuit) items.
Damn. This is a nice and pleasant surprise. Cheer up!
What a great gift ! That will keep you going for a couple of weeks eh ? 😄 Look forward to seeing them in future videos. Some yummy stuff in there 👍
Hey man your videos are quality never fail to impress lol
Super nice of the person to make a short description of each item. Really thoughtful
Atomic Shrimp is acting like a kid at Christmas!
Your videos make me feel happy and relaxed, thank you :)
I'm czech and I haven't seen a handful of these brands/products before, but overall a lot of the trademark stuff was present and it's very satisfying in a strange way to see it "out there" in the world like this :)
I love the person who sent these!! This video is adorable!
I grew up drinking Pilsner Urquell in Chicago. I live in Wisconsin now and I drink this every so often and it is good beer. You have a good friend to send you all this cool stuff. Those sausages should go good with the beer.
thanks to nalim27 for the content, awesome stuff.
You are welcome.
dont know how i got here but it seems like good stuff
I love the idea of trying a selection of items from another country's supermarket. I see Asian stores where I live and looking at their shelves is a similar experience. Only problem is you need someone who knows what's what to suggest what should be good.
A couple of months ago, I started learning Czech. It makes watching videos like this quite interesting! FWIW, my least favourite letter is "ř". :D
Yep, ř is very unique 🙂
What other letter is allowed for foreigners to be their favorite?
@Atomic Shrimp - can you please rename this video to something like: "Czech (and Slovak) Food Unboxing - I Can Unbox Anything!".
Looks like some subsribers do not like current name :-) Or they want more precise name.
Sure thing. Don't worry about it - this happens every time!
This also gets more views, not that it matters.
On the Thrane Maso, the letters BBQ mean bar-be-cue which I am sure you are aware is a spicy-sweet glaze for all sorts of meats we use in the far western US, particularly when fire-roasting.
Actually the letters BBQ (barbecue) signifies the method of cooking, often over charcoal outside, rather than the sauce/glaze/dip/drizzle (depending on how you use it,) which some people use when cooking in that way.
@@sarahstrong7174 In some parts of the Southern USA they sell pork bbq, which is vinegar based - no brown sugar or tomato base on that. So bbq varies a lot from region to region.
I'm a sucker for wafers candies...I would be in heaven.
I haven't spoken Czech in like 5 years and I surprisingly could read a fair bit of this. I'm impressed with myself.
Added two things to my bucket list as an American viewer. A) blood sausage. B) black currants
I am a Slovakian and watching this makes me hungry :D
Those big wafer disks remind me of oplatek- it's a similar wafer type food that my Polish family brings out for Christmases. I'm sure they're related, considering geography, but hazelnut in there actually sounds really good and I'd love to try that some day!
To są nasze andruty
What a strange selection. I feel like the instant pasta and chilli and whatnot could've been replaced by some more traditional stuff. I do however like the inclucion of lázeňské oplatky. They're one of the very few snacks I think I'll never get tired of.
Kofola is missing🤔
Pilsner Urquell best Czech beer? Bold claim ;) more partial to a Kozel černe personally
Oww the distant and exotic lands of Czechia.
Mmmmm luxury!
Cheat sheet done very neatly
Mmm, yes! Junk food from CzRp.
I like junk, once in a while; enough that I can figure out what most of this is.
On that sweet wafer, I think it was mainly egg-white and castor-sugar, maybe some flavoring. They're put in the oven, on very low, and left to dry, about 8 hours.
Yummy!
Enjoy.
The wafers appear to be filled with something that is midway between meringue and nougat - egg white, sugar and ground hazel nuts, I think
@@AtomicShrimp Yes, they seem very much like a cookie/wafer done in Switzerland. A friend of mine used to make them, across the street, and they were fantastic!
Utopenci aren't Wobbler 90031 compatible :(
Utopen[tsi]
We won't know unless we try
That is true.
Unfortunatelly in Czech Republick they are selling hotdogs in a can very rarely. Usually hotdog in a can is foreign product.
They are normally selling then in plastics package and they must be stored at cold (4 - 6 C)
Ha! Some recalibration required :)
@@AtomicShrimp AS knows a chalenge when he sees one :D You are truly a wurst master and not the worst.
Thankyou for sharing your unboxing.
I'm constantly surprised how many local food stuffs there are around the world made and sold by Maggi.
Just the other day I saw East Asian soups and spices in an Asia specialty shop.
That company used to be quintessentially German to me for a long time (I've since learned that they're actually Swiss); their famous seasoning sauce, with which the brand name is virtually synonymous, could always be found in almost every house in Germany ^^
I love Czech/Slovak food!
Pickled Sausages are popular in Canada.. again, in pubs!!
My favourite beer first had it in Prague and you can get it in Sainsbury's in bottles
It's not the best way to travel, but I did a bus trip to the beautiful Czech country. On one of the stops, near a spa, there were so many shops selling these blue boxes Kolonáda. It was dead cheap and back on the bus I tried some. I hated it. It was dry and it was tasteless. Despite the hazelnut printed on the box, I did not find any flavor os what so ever. I thought it had to be a wafer to decorate ice cream or things.
Later I saw Kolonáda in general stores. I did not buy it even so it was much cheaper.
Verry surprised I was to see Kolonáda. I was curious what you thought of it. Your reaction and the comments about Kolonáda make me wonder if those tourist shops were selling a bootleg of a sort. (Janek, can you shed a light?)
Pilsner Urquell is absolutely not the best Czech beer. It was the only one I could get in the US, so it was my yardstick when I spent a month there and it was hands-down the worst beer I had there. Budějovický Budvar (the original Budweiser) was my absolute favorite.
Staropramen is the best beer in the world. (At lease it was 25 years ago...)
Ovobobule (to you) ... a festive salutation.
I think the word you were looking at on the Frujty snacks was ovoplkatky… I’ve no bloody clue what it means but it’s pronounced as “oh-voh-ploh-kot-kee”
Eastern Europe produces some of the best sweets and jams.
This is like a slightly more soothing Ashens and I am here for it
Pedros never disappoint to be honest, we recently got those in hungary and i love them
Those peanut crisps are amazing, they sell them at my local corner shop.
Pilzner Urquel is the very best beer of its class ever made. It's a pleasure to have one on a hot summers day, it has the perfect balance of bitter, sweet and refreshing - enjoy!
Mr. Atomic Shrimp sir...would you ever try South African foods & snacks on this series of yours?
5:50
Atomic shrimp: “Nice”
-MRE Steve has entered the chat-
Pretty unexpected seeing my country on here :D
huray Czech Reapablick :D nice video
I'm a yank but I'd really like to visit the Czech republic. I've been to other countires in Europe but my friends who've been to Czechia say it's their favorite
Haha this is like Christmas !
Have you considered more of a... survival situation for your rations, or even entirely foraging? As in camping out for a couple of days. I’d love to see that :)
I plan to do that next year - I'm thinking that either: 1: I spend two days on foot somewhere, eating only what I can forage, or 2: I spend a whole week based at home, again eating only what I can forage, but with use of the car to help find it
Atomic Shrimp Looking forward to it :)
@@AtomicShrimp I'd prefer the former personally.. Not that I want you to suffer :p It seems more of a.. challenge
Omg, I lived in kralova pre sence in Slovakia for almost a year. What a treat, dekujem.
Krupky! I love them. Along with the tycinky that you get in pubs, the thick ones with the large salt crystals.
Fidorka's are nice. Especially the nutty and the milk chocolate ones.
I forgot about Bon Pari's but those are also nice.
Also, if you asked my dad, Radegast is better than Pilsner. XD ( "Life is bitter, thank God.")
Shame there are somethings that are a bit harder to ship, than others... there are so many other interesting and tasty things in Czech Republic.
Actually, that mustard is made in Slovakia.
So is anything made by Sedita. Pedro sweets used to be made in both Slovakia and Czech Republic before the Velvet Divorce, but I think that nowadays they're made only in Czech Republic. I might be wrong though
Nalim27 is so generous.. Nice item there!
Noodle are the English name for pasta with is the Italien name for Nudeln which is the German name xD
Maggi Amore Mio. So Czech!
Please vote up if you always read the text on the light box.
If you've always missed it, you got to Czech it out!
I have 5 year addiction on those spa things
Thats pretty neat. I noticed Maggi (Pronounced Ma-G) and I never thought they made foods. All i knew they made was broths. Idk this is a random comment.
Part czech (but not very good at it) and had to chuckle a bit at utopenci. I think that word has something to do with "drowned". I love czech naming sometimes, everything seems to be a little bit cute or a pun
I want more videos like these!
What the hell I just subscribed few weeks ago and I see my country in a title what
That :-)
The Mustard is actually made in Slovakia. (Brought to you by the Slovak gang)
Yes, the same for Maggi products. I'm a little old school and Slovak Republic was part of Czechoslovakia, as you know already.
Barry Lewis loses out to new atomic shrimp video every day of the week ☺️
I am too from Czech republic
Was expecting you to find a box of gold bars compliments of the soul Mr Barrister John Barossa
Wowzers!
As soon as the post office is back up and running, I'd love to send over some Soutn African goods to you!
Excited for that
Edit: what is your P O Box?
i once tried instant mash and chicken flavoured bread in a pot whilst visiting Azerbaijan...it wasnt a pleasent experience 🤣
I love Czech food, but he did forget the best item: Pickled hermelín cheese 😋
