I owned a 1968Jeep Wagoneer that has this type of universal, after having ongoing problems I solved the problem by drilling and tapping one side of the housing for a pipe plug and 180 degrees from that I drilled and tapped for a grease fitting, pumped the whole housing full or grease and no more problems.

Man that end was destroyed! Kinda thought it was gonna have some destruction, but to break off the tip on one side and wear down like that... WOW. That wasn't gonna last much longer driving it around like you were!! Yep a rebuild was certainly needed!

If you are using the same worn housing you will have vibrations ,with the condition of those bearings and pin the housing will also be worn and also needs replacement.
