Dear Carte Blanche… there’s much more to this story. As a vet working there often years ago… it’s a sad situation and I predicted this… maybe too late now
The Residents are too blame. You want to keep animals on a property that is not sufficient to support the animals that reside on the property,That’s the real cruelty. The Kruger park should remove the animals off the property and fence out Marloth Park. Regardless of red lines and where the meat goes. You have to look at the root of the problem . Bunny huggers and their inability to face the reality that if you fence in game you have to cull in order to stop the animals from starving to death. Marloth park cannot manage the wildlife nor the municipality. Wildlife should not be kept there.
@@Mary-JaneMoolman FYI I grew up in the Umbabat game reserve and still own there today. A real game reserve that is managed by real conservationists and wardens and falls under the APNR not some incompetent municipality. But your response is expected as the truth hurts.
This is a great opportunity to adapt, and learn. In Africa, that is a great learning curve and an opportunity for a unique development, people and nature living in perfect harmony.
The totally out of controll Sekelbos and other invasive plants in Marloth have destroyed the grazing as well. Its not only the overpopulated game . There is zero veld management.
The sekelbos will increase because of overgrazing. Overgrazing lays the ground bare and increases invasive plants and soil erosion. Basic veld management principles.
@@tshidisomoraka8861I don't think the people living there want to domesticate the animals, they feed them because there's no food, it's that or let them die of starvation and because of foot and mouth disease they can't be sent anywhere.

"...clearly shows the rangers inexperience with a firearm. Instead of making the rifle safe immediately after the shot, the ranger reaches for his ears". It's almost certainly a bolt action rifle and more than likely only loaded with 1 round. In a built up area where consideration about backstops (should the bullet pass through or the shooter miss) make a quick second shot unwise should the animal run off, a single round in the rifle would probably be preferred. I can't see the bolt being worked after the shot to eject the case so it probably is a rifle with a spent case in only, which is not "unsafe" in the literal meaning of the word. Yes, the shooter probably should have had ear protection on and one could maybe suggest inexperience outside of a gun range, as you generally only make that mistake once. However your point is more a suggestion of safety which you fail to establish. In a hunting reserve with healthy animals, you would have more than 1 round loaded in the mag and even with the animal down, you would not fully clear the weapon until confirming the animal is dead. That side on shot going for the heart/lungs is not always instantanious termination. The non-shooter was still walking up to likely check when the clip ends. You appear a bit premature in your timings on when to "make safe", which is at times, like this, a double checking concept of gun safety rather than a suggestion that the rifle was unsafe before being "made safe".
Animals always have to suffer because of the greed of mankind. You can’t interfere with the ecosystem , there is clearly a balance issue here , there are no predators to maintain the balance . Humans are the problem . Not the wildlife . Take responsibility !
Some people are greedy, they don't want to share with animals. If we don't speak out about this kind of people, these animals will become extinct. Here in SA, just because animals can't talk, they're "bullied"
Any game farmer will be able to assist. Game management through informed culling might offend those who place their feelings above the welfare of animals, however if there is no natural predators, it is kindness.
When I saw the food(is it pellets) being delivered in sealed bags I got a sense of another fat tenderpreneur overcharging for that and getting fatter. This could have been a reason why they made the municipality to manage the place. 💔
Is the next video on the Mjejane lions that have been moved to the North of Kruger? Previous lions that were moved from the South to the North of Kruger were poisoned and snared within three months. So why did these lions get moved, and why is SanParks not answering our questions?

I think Public participation process was done or done correctly subsequently its questionable how the residents got Environmental Authorization to turn a nature reserve into a residential site.
This is a very sad & sorry state of affairs. Unfortunately housing developments will take place everywhere in SA. These poor animals are part of our heritage & should be treated as such & obviously sustainability is very important. Why not chip these animals, screen them for diseases & rehome the healthy wildlife? It is unacceptable that we as a South African people & in particular our government either do not have the proper knowledge or the desired will to handle any kind of crisis...human or otherwise.
