What is my biggest concern, people can buy these drugs without prescriptions. It is a controlled drug, but every second person is selling it. I'm far more cynical about the 'shortage' of these types of drugs. It's not like it's a plant-based drug. It's synthetic, so in theory, they could just ramp up production. One possible reason they haven't is that inaccessibility to a product like this creates more demand. The second could be that pharma companies and hospitals who stand to make billions from cardiac and other weight related issues are suddenly experiencing a decrease in sales and thirdly, ozempic is patented and the patent is only due to expire in a few years, so as the law stands it cannot be replicated by other companies right now.
Everyone wants a quick fix (including me! 😂but at the end of the day, if you don't change your mindset & lifestyle, you can't stay on a drug for the rest of your life & think you can keep the weight off that way. You need to implement new habits & coping mechanisms & face your stuff, not stuff your face. I am trying but it's a daily battle.
Very few people can claim to health conditions that prevent fat loss. Everyone else is lazy, undisciplined and looking for an easy way out despite the heavy health risks... Ugh. Pathetic...
I heard someone on tik tok as well as on an ozempic advert say you will experience diarrhea as well as nausea at the same time. That is considered "just annoying" ?????
Diabetic patients are finding it hard to change the way insulin is added to their system. From using the pen for years to now at Old age learning how to use a syringe and getting the dosage right. It is a big risk for type 2 diabetes patients. There should be medical group trainings in different areas as due to Nova Nordisk not renewing their 3 year contract with south africa the risks are higher than ever. I am speaking on behalf of my dad who has been using insulin for almost 30 years.
@@Mamaofthree792 True but if one really is determined to lose weight than they will put in the extra effort and be disciplined, consistency goes a long way too.
I agree with you, intermittent fasting helped me lose weight as well. It was a struggle at the beginning and I would be extremely hungry, but now my body has adjusted to eating at 12h00 and 18h00. Some weekends I only eat once at 18h00.
People should stop looking for shortcuts. Eat less move more. The dangerous part of this is the proliferation of the clones of this specific drug and people can't seem to tell the difference.

I agree that some weight issues are also a life threatening but I will refer you to an episode on current affairs Australia discussing more dangers of this drug. We have to look at the facts. Not a lot of people was obese many years ago. This is something new since the late 2010's. People need to consume less calories by cutting carbs and sugar and move their bodies more. It is a know facts for many years.
Intermittent fasting with a little bit of daily exercise works wonders. Difficult in the beginning, the fasting that is, but your body acclimatizes almost immediately to this change. I don't buy into quick fixes using drugs. Many lazy peoples jump onto the "underlying issues" bandwagon. Most of these could be solved by doing the aforementioned.💯
So true, I struggled with intermittent fasting at the beginning and would be extremely hungry and tired. My body has now adjusted to eating twice a day at 12h00 and 18h00. I incorporated workouts when I got stronger and I workout daily. On days when I’m tired I opt for low impact workouts or walking to reach 10K steps.
You're not suffering from an eating disorder, hormone issues, autoimmune disorders, chronic pain, chronic fatigue, food/sugar addiction, mental illnesses etc. Intermittent fasting can have the opposite result for people, depending on their co-morbidities. Your ignorant comment is not helping.
It's literally just making a person eat less. That's all. If one can't do it oneself, then this drug is doing. But what happens in the long term, what will a person who comfort eats do to get the comfort now? Maybe it's a gateway drug in the sense of a gateway to the gym or other activities that one can do with the free time saved from not eating.
Strangely enough my medical aid approved ozempic which is up to R3000 but declined the R300 forxiga which is most effective for me and that’s what I’m currently using…does not make sense. Also ozempic did not help. Further changes in my diet did reduce blood glucose levels and reversed NAFLD. My case was not a simple eat right or eat less, eat healthy, exercise more and lose weight and stabiles blood glucose levels …
The only way to lose weight is to eat less. Eat whole foods, meaning no processed foods. Lastly, fast, intermittent fasting or long fasts all work. I was 140kg last year. Did this, and I'm now 115kg, my healthy weight being between 105kg - 110kg at 1.94m tall. Works for everyone regardless. Only a question of discipline.
You're not suffering from an eating disorder, hormone issues, autoimmune disorders, chronic pain, chronic fatigue, food/sugar addiction, mental illnesses etc. Not to mention lacking the income to afford whole foods in this economy. If it were simply a case of disipline NO ONE would be overweight. Your ignorant comment is not helping.
@@khumbuzilemthiyane964 actually, diabetics who are stabilised on ozempic should still be able to get it. There's even a helpline on the manufacturing pharmaceutical company's website for doctors if they are having trouble sourcing it. The manufacturer recommends doctors not prescribe it off-label. There are alternative weight loss drugs, like mounjaro, made by another company, that does not have a shortage. I think the sudden popularity of these drugs (although Ozempic has been available since 2017) via social media took doctors and pharmaceutical companies by surprise and their initial reaction has been one of disapproval of the general public taking drugs for weight loss, but for myself, I feel its a great way to kick-start weight loss as long as you stop taking it once you've lost the weight you want to lose. I doubt any healthy person really grasps the psychological and physical turmoil an obese person deals with. I bet if you would put a healthy person in the shoes of an obese person, they'd run to the nearest rooftop. it's not as easy as stopping to eat junk or just going for a walk. it's like living in a jail cell padded with traumatic experiences forced on the obese person by another. Who the heck chooses to be obese? I wouldn't wish this on anyone.

theres no quick fix...................... So imagine this for a second. You manage to do it on sheer will and support from others, how much stronger will you be mentally. Proving to yourself that you can do hard things. The problem with relying on someone/something else to do the work for you, is that they/it will always have to do the work for you. You say this is the first ever succesful weightloss drugs. Nonsense, there are other systems and solutions. you are just lazy This is a dig at the feeble fab chasers
There's always only been one safe way to get healthier. Expend more energy than your intake and utilise resistance training Lifestyle change rather than a diet
@jeisonkunene6376 I've gone through bouts where I have to trim down, but no, I haven't struggled with it my whole life simply because I don't look at going on a diet. The term "going on a diet" suggests that eventually you'll be off it, and that is why I say that a healthy weight is a lifestyle, not a crash course diet. I'm observant of my calorie intake vs expenditure. That together with resistance training focussed on proressive overload and low to moderate cardio is all that's needed
But it's genetics. Of course, you can do something to counteract your genetics. There are youtube channels and blogs dedicated to helping slim people gain weight because they have tried to no avail. They even resort to supplements to gain weight. This is to illustrate that some people are more prone to being fat and others are not.
If this comes to South Africa - re mo ntjeng. Imaging those who get grants and using them to just get their hands on this drug to fit in the society's kg,

What are the side effects for people who do not need these drugs and use it to shed a few kgs?

After watching Pain Huslers...I foresee Ozimpic heading the same direction
I'm far more cynical about the 'shortage' of these types of drugs. It's not like it's a plant-based drug. It's synthetic, so in theory, they could just ramp up production.
One possible reason they haven't is that inaccessibility to a product like this creates more demand.
The second could be that pharma companies and hospitals who stand to make billions from cardiac and other weight related issues are suddenly experiencing a decrease in sales and thirdly, ozempic is patented and the patent is only due to expire in a few years, so as the law stands it cannot be replicated by other companies right now.
These pharmaceuticals are making huge profits, they should look into subsidizing this drug to low-income clients.
what about the side effects?

I agree with you, intermittent fasting helped me lose weight as well. It was a struggle at the beginning and I would be extremely hungry, but now my body has adjusted to eating at 12h00 and 18h00. Some weekends I only eat once at 18h00.

Ozempic has deadly side effects
No it doesn't. Side effects yes, but not deadly.
@@ksc743 I know someone who died of complications arising from ozempic use. She developed gastroparesis and she passed away as a result
No it doesn't
"Deadly side effects" Like??? Please explain
@@helenawagner1901 gastroparesis which is a medical condition that paralyzes the stomach muscles. A person needs that gastric motility to aid digestion and proper food transit along the alimentary canal. Poor gastric motility leads to poor digestion and other complications. I agree that people living with diabetes and those who are prediabetic can use it under doctor supervision. But now ppl use this drug for weight loss even when not indicated. I agree that some weight issues are also a life threatening but I will refer you to an episode on current affairs Australia discussing more dangers of this drug. People need to be very careful when using this drug
Going high fat carnivore helped me.
Which causes high cholesterol and heart disease for most people who go on this type of diet.
Follow the carnivore diet. Ask Prof Tim Noakes, Anthony Chaffee and others! We are carnivores!

Martin Shkreli enters the chat...

Is ozempic a thing in south africa 😮🤔🤔
For wealthy people it is a thing. Doctors also tend to be more 'helpful' when it comes to giving these types of people what they ask for.
@@ksc743 hate that sick people are not getting it.
All drugs have side effects if taken longterm. I just wish it was more affordable.

That lady dr has a horrible attitude - doesnt understand, obesity.
I doubt any healthy person really grasps the psychological and physical turmoil an obese person deals with.
