I hope you liked my version of OMURICE! Could you guys do the omelet flip? Let me know! Also be sure to follow me on TWITTER for more Japanese Cooking! twitter.com/ChampRyosuke
How do you feel about using something like Sriracha instead of the sauce? I've always preferred hot sauce instead of ketchup on eggs. And most hot sauces are very low in or 0 calories!
I absolutely love your videos!!! I love Japanese food!! I also collect Japanese knives and I'm wondering what brand/blacksmith of knives you use. Especially that beautiful yanagiba I always see on your videos.
This is personally one of the most approachable omurice recipes I've seen! I really like how the egg broke a little bit in the pan, cuz it shows that you can still get a good egg even with some 'mistakes'
I really appreciate that the outro is you washing the dishes. When living alone, the loneliness and emptiness hit my mind the hardest when I am washing all the dishes after finishing a meal I prepared for myself. Your cheerful and warm videos make the dishwashing part also heartwarming, and I can convince myself that it's okay to try to make a good meal all for myself.
Oh my god. Oh. My. God. THIS. THIS IS IT. THIS IS WHY I STRUGGLE TO FEED MYSELF! I never could describe why I just skip meals. But this is it. When I am with family I eat plenty. Even at work (I work alone 90% of the time) I will typically not eat all day. And this just helped me realize why. I think this is going to be very helpful for me going forward.
One of the things I like about Champ's videos is his recipes don't use crazy over the top ingredients, so they're easy to make. I'd been looking for a good omurice recipe for years, but google searches always lead to stuff that's way too fancy.
Did omurice attempts several times a few years ago. Main issue was not having a small diamete pan for the omelet, so always ended up with some browning. But the first time I did it, I managed to flip the full thing perfectly (unfolded).......never been able to do it since though :P
I’ve cooked a few French omelettes before, I’ve flipped the egg so many times it’s not even funny lmao. The tap on the pan is paramount to a good shape, without kicking up the underside properly it’ll just fall apart. It’s also super important to constantly stir the egg, you want extremely small curds to form, Ryosuke did a wonderful job at making sure it took shape properly so props to him.
I made it! ありがとうございました Champ! I had to use a spatula for the flip though. mine was not nearly as elegant as yours but the buttery sauce made it delicious!
This looks DELICIOUS and simple! No special, hard to obtain ingredients. I can make this on a regular day with things I already have in my kitchen! Thank you!!!
Well if you ever question "do my videos actually help others eat healthy?" I litterally put down a bag of doritos and went and made a salad at the end of the video. Great as always! Omurice is one dish I've made quite a bit actually, isn't it generally considered a western food in Japan? Interesting to see western influenced Japanese dishes rather than the other way around. Next I'd love to see something with seafood! Takoyaki?
Omurice is a “Yoshoku” dish which can be considered a category of Western-inspired dishes that were popularized in Japan back in the 19th century during the Meiji Restoration. Because they were imported way back, the dishes have gradually transformed to fit the Japanese cuisine; it’s not apparent in Omurice but a better example would be Japanese curry tasting completely from the it’s origin in India.
I’ve been making chahan with koshihikari rice at home. Tricky to get the rice done but not too wet for frying. But I think I’ve solved it now. Last 2 times have been delicious and not clumpy 😊
when dicing an onion that way you can cut diagonally instead of horizontally on the first cuts! like folliwing the curve of the onion's layers, you'll end up with more even dices faster and more easily!
Just found this channel, but I gotta say that I absolutely love your style! Very friendly, helpful, and lovely style of instruction. Gonna try make omurice in 15 min, let's see how it works out.
I found your channel a while back and have enjoyed your new videos as they have come out. I will have to make one of them for my grandmother. She made tonkatsu and sukiyaki for me, now I need to surprise her with something she hasn't had in a long time.
I want to try omurice after seeing it in a Korean drama. I grew up in Japan in the '50's and I never heard of this (and don't remember eating fried rice, only steamed white rice). I think I can follow your instructions. Thank you for the recipe.
I tried to do Omurice so many times by myself, and failed 😅 Thank you for showing me how to do it right 👍☺️ You're very adept at cooking, and showing us how to do it too, in an unstressful way. Very grateful!
Hey Champ, have you ever thought about doing a video on the different knives you use and why you use them? I see different ones used all the time and would like to know why.
Thank you for another awesome and tasty dish...though I will need to practive the egg flip. And the omurice sauce was one of the best I've tried on eggs. I would love to see a recipe for either salmon or mackerel. Looking forward to the next recipe!
Thank you for the recipe, Champ! This is one of my favorite dishes and I practice it about 2-3 times a week trying to get the omelette -just- right. It's easily the hardest part!
Another great video that makes it look so easy! I would love to see you go out into the community and cook with some local chefs around the country to learn more about regional dishes!
I've just recently discovered your videos, and I do like your technique Sir! Your video on making Okonomiyaki has me hooked on the dish, I love it. But to answer your question: Yes, I can flip an omelet quite easily. Your omelet here is very similar to a French butter omelet, just minus all the butter. Arigato for creating your channel.
Mr Ryosuke! I love you channel and your vids! Your recips are quite easy to make in every corner of the world (where we have substitiutes of original products) so we can taste Japanese Kitchen! I love kitchens of the world so that's amazing for me
Tried this morning and thought to get that you needed to not use oil and I goofed it. Im gunna retry in the morning. What a funny timing! I just missed the tutorial!
7:28 wait. Did he just detach the handle of the pan?!?! I need that! What's it called?! Amazing end result of the dish. I want to start making these soon.
Im gonna go try to make the omelet right now and see how it goes. dont have any rice atm or id make the whole dish. But Ill update the comment when Im done Update : It came out a lot better than I expected it to. I think I just had my heat too high so it rushed cooking it and it wasnt as creamy on the inside. But other than that, it wasnt bad at all. Pretty tasty too.
Hey Champ!!! I collect Japanese kitchen knives. I'm curious what Brand/blacksmith's knives you use? Especially that beautiful yanagiba that I always see in your videos.

I'm back 😀
You might be some sort of Eldritch god for being able to pronounce Worcestershire, either way I enjoyed your video
You pronounced Worcestershire sauce better than most Americans, I've seen on youtube.
How do you feel about using something like Sriracha instead of the sauce? I've always preferred hot sauce instead of ketchup on eggs. And most hot sauces are very low in or 0 calories!

@@TopAnimeLoverEver Thank you. I am glad my chronic lonely life can be a help this one time.
2 years late, but hope everything's gotten really good, mate.
@@thewintermachine I got a couple of really close internet friends recently. Thank you very much.
I just made Omurice yesterday and now I want it again...
What pan size do you recommend to make omurice?
It's always a good day when Champ uploads. This is definitely the channel I've recreated the most recipes from. Always delicious. Thank you Champ!
I often forget how fluent Champ is in english. His speaking seems natural, and fluid.
One of the things I like about Champ's videos is his recipes don't use crazy over the top ingredients, so they're easy to make. I'd been looking for a good omurice recipe for years, but google searches always lead to stuff that's way too fancy.
Even without the omelette it sounds like a nice and quick meal.
just make it a sunny side up and call the dish Japanese fried rice
@@wiseSYW Or you can just say that you were planing to use scrambled eggs from the very beginning after you fail making an omelette
Yeah I think it's called fried rice or something.
I like his knife and his detachable handled frying pan, you can see him quickly utilize this at 7:28

Large doesn't begin to adequately describe that monster carrot. 2:27
I don’t know what it is but the ending scene of Champ doing dishes always bring me inner peace. So nice
I keep putting off making omurice for the first time. After watching this I have no excuse! Keep it up Champ
Thank you for making this video. I've been making Omurice the past few weekends, I'm always interested in learning more techniques and tips.
This looks so good! Thanks for the tip on removing the tough white part of the chicken… never knew about the fork trick! 😃👏
I like the trick of putting your scrambled eggs through a siv before cooking. Will be using that for other recipes as well.
The finished thing really is a piece of art! I have to practice on my omelettes though before I do this :D
Always a pleasure to see you cook. Being a chef as a champ!
when dicing an onion that way you can cut diagonally instead of horizontally on the first cuts! like folliwing the curve of the onion's layers, you'll end up with more even dices faster and more easily!
Thank you for the omurice video! This is a very cool looking dish that I want to try more, I love eggs and rice. This looks perfect!
Thanks for an easy tutorial for the rice sauce and omurice
Just found this channel, but I gotta say that I absolutely love your style! Very friendly, helpful, and lovely style of instruction. Gonna try make omurice in 15 min, let's see how it works out.
Thank you Champ. My nephews have been asking me to make omurice so maybe I will give it a try. The omelette part looks difficult though.
That's a nice idea, having you cleaning the dishes of the video as the outro background!
I found your channel a while back and have enjoyed your new videos as they have come out. I will have to make one of them for my grandmother. She made tonkatsu and sukiyaki for me, now I need to surprise her with something she hasn't had in a long time.

Very grateful!
Every step is like straightforward and easy to do, then you reach the omelette part and the anxiety starts rising dramatically.
Ain't no way! I love this! I wanna learn how to make it.
Yes it's so nice and looks yummy I will try to cook for my grand childrens
Wasn't expecting a video today! Love it as always!

mouthwatering... Thank you so much, Champ! I never tasted this and will try to make this in the future. 🙏
i was blown away when i saw you detach the handle from the pan, other than that the video was really easy to follow along!! 👍
I'm always able to flip the eggs or pancakes! It's just rarely it lands where I want it to :D
Always a good time with Champ
Love the carrot cutting technique!
Ahh, I love Omurice! I always mess up the omlette part though. I hope I can get it right with this method!
I know this dish takes a lot of practice champ. I know because it took me a while to get to a serviceable level. Good job on this omurice
My mind was blown for a second when he readjusted the handle at 7:27
Love your videos thank you for making them
I second that notion. 👍
You’ve need to break a few omelettes to ... wait that’s not right
Love this line
Love your recipes. Can you make more videos with veggies?
Alright, I was waiting for this! Thanks Champ.
I've always wanted to try this food, maybe I'll give it cooking it a try
one of those dishes worth mastering
i am only 12 and this video helped me to make it for my fam thank you
Good job
Looks so good! If only I could do the flip properly, I'd be eating this everyday. Guess it just needs more practice.
Oh this looks tasty! Will definitely have to try this one out!
OMURICE!! It's one of my favorite anime food and Curry too!🍛
I love japanese food the best.
0:57 That is one beautiful knife.
I've always wanted to make omurice. Could I use standard tomato sauce instead of ketchup? Seems like it would be healthier.
the pan that you use is amazing!
Sir you make this recipe so yummy.. after watching this video I am gonna be your big fan😊😊

Great recipe! I will skip the chicken because I am vegetarian but with this recipe will be certainly wonderful!
Once I'm back from college I'm practicing this omurice and ramen recipes for the whole break

7:28 wait. Did he just detach the handle of the pan?!?! I need that! What's it called?!
Amazing end result of the dish. I want to start making these soon.
Champ keeps me hungry with every video 😛
Ive seen people do beef rice with a gravy, do you have a preference between the two?
Where can I get a pan like yours? The removable handle is very cool! Love your videos, Champ.
Awesome video as always Champ!
Thank you champ. I'm now making meals for champions!!
Hey @champ how do you cut the carrots like this, do you heat them beforehand or do you have some special knife? Thank you for your great videos!
Accidentally made a medium scrambled egg instead of an omelette, but it still tastes great!
I just made it today. It is very tasty!🎉
Love it and cant wait to make some
Yummy! Thank you for your recipe!
The return of the belt 🥰😍
Im gonna go try to make the omelet right now and see how it goes. dont have any rice atm or id make the whole dish. But Ill update the comment when Im done
Update : It came out a lot better than I expected it to.

Great job! Thank you! 😊❤
Love the video champ! 🤠 After watching this video I can't stop screaming "omurice!!!" Lol
Holy cow the thing that blew my mind was the pan handle was detachable
