I jst got a pixel fold 2 days ago. I wanted the fold 5 as I've been a Galaxy note user since the note 4. I am not disappointed at all. It's clean fast sleek in design and the best part is the fact u have a normal size phone and a powerhouse giant all in one. I didn't like the narrow design of the fold 5. This phone is loud too and it's perfect how well integrated google is. It feels like the phone the early Samsung's aimed to be with how well the operating system functions. It cld use a better chipset but it's not far off from the exynos. Nailed it when u said it's alot like an iPhone aesthetically. You can tell this is the type of phone where u constantly learn and unlock subtle features u soon learn u can't live without and love about a device.
I'm coming from a 14 Pro to the fold 5 and I actually like the slim and narrow front screen. I even use the default Samsung keyboard. Maybe I have small hands but the front screen size really works for me. When I looking to buy a folding a phone, the stylus was the deciding factor for me, I needed a stylus which is why I went with the fold. I also love the icy blue color of the fold 5.
It tickles me how so many people take the preferences of others so personally. I prefer to keep the Galaxy Z Fold 4 for now, but I can see why the Pixel works better for a lot of people.
@@MikeOBrienMedia I agree! I’m actually very happy about the Pixel too. I’m hoping this will motivate Samsung to maybe add a better form factor in the lineup if they aren’t willing to improve the Fold’s.
@@MikeOBrienMediait's also like people forgot what a smartphone is and expect it to do everything in the world instead of being a smart phone. Really love the points u made and some of them are the same reasons I use the Pixel Fold as my daily driver. It really has changed the way I used my phone.
I too spend at least 80% of time using the outer screen of the fold 5. For me the slimmer profile is ideal for one handed use - scrolling, quick replies etc. When I need to do something really productive like view a spreadsheet or pdf, then I use the inner screen. I also appreciate the ability to customize my outer screen for all the at-a-glance and quick functions I need and be also able to customize the inner screen to suit my productivity need.
That's great. I know that some people will adapt better to that narrow Galaxy front display, but the vast majority want and need a wider aspect ratio, and the Pixel nails that. We have been robbed of that over the last 4 years with Samsung persisting with this narrow display despite every other fold-like device going with a wider screen. It is seemingly Samsung sticking to their guns despite the obvious. I would probably return to the Samsung Fold 6 if they resolve this but they lost me. The Pixel Fold is selling like hotcakes and nearly impossible to buy one in the UK whereas the Galaxy Fold 5 has already dropped as much as £800 within a week on eBay.
@@andyH_England Vast majority? Your arguments are anecdotal. I merely stated that the fold 5 works for me. I really don't care if the "vast majority" of people prefer a wider aspect ratio or if the Pixel fold is "selling like hotcakes".
@@MrSilentknight2012 The Fold5 may work for you, but you have never had a galaxy fold with a wider aspect ratio that may work even better. Well next year I'm 100% confident that the Fold6 will be wider and you will get a chance to see how much better that is...or not!
@@andyH_England Well I switched from the Fold 4 to the Pixel fold and went back to the fold 4. I don't need to be told what my preferences should be - perfectly capable of making my own choices.
@@andyH_England I'm actually with MrSilentknight on this one. I prefer a narrow screen of the Galaxy Z Fold, and I hope Samsung sticks to it. It's great that Google makes a phone that works better for other people. They should just use Google Pixel Fold. I think it's better we have different options that work for different people, instead of demanding everyone confirms to our preferences.
The entire point of a Fold is to have a tablet in your pocket. The Samsung is a much better tablet. Even as a phone it's easier to use one handed, which is the only reason I would use it closed anyways. Quick texts or whatever are easy on the outer screen with swipe and a single thumb. I wouldn't sacrifice the spen for anything either. It's an incredibly useful tool. I use Anki to learn languages, trivia, and memorize things like geography and world events. The pen makes it super easy to handwrite my answers as I go to help cement them in my memory. It also makes taking quick notes during phone calls so much easier, not to mention what I can do with it when it comes to photo editing in lightroom or editing PDFs. The Spen+fold is the first time I've felt a phone is a truly capable productivity tool. And with dex? Get out of here.
@@darkjorgelink Ok good for you? If you dont do anything productive with it and just want a big screen then good for you. I expect my phone to pay for itself within 3 months or it is a waste of money.
I have a galaxy fold I'm sending in for a pixel fold. The galaxy fold is not the phone for an spen that's the ultra 😂 it is compatible but I don't like using it. You understand the s series has dex too? The s series can do everything u just listed so I'm confused on how this opinion matters when you describing how the ultra is actually your beast. 😅 those apps can be downloaded on any phone too. The galaxy fold is the wrong ratio to be a good tablet it's just a fun square. I don't like the black bars on my shows and have to rotate to landscape when the pixel just opens that way like a normal tablet. Also prone to alot of typos on the small screen so get ready for false accusations of being drunk even if you don't drink. 😅 is it a good phone yes but it's getting a body make over to match a pixel layout so enjoy the last model that's funky cuz we reviewers said no lol
If you taking about tablet then the zFold has exact same size screen as Pixel Fold when rotated 90°, which is what I always had to do when I had the zFold. In comparison the Pixel Fold is a very liberating experience by actually being more useful on Both screens...
I came from a z fold 4 to the Pixel fold and i am pretty happy with my decision. I have grown bored with Samsung pushing out new devices with minimal changes, which is exactly why i left apple many years ago. I installed the beta 14 on my Pixel fold and not only has the battery life significantly improved, it also resolved a few minor glitches with the display and performance. I love being able to have a functional external display. Hell if i wanted to be forced to use the inner display, i may as well rock a i pad mini as my daily driver. For those who complain about stylus support, hell i have had probably every S, and Fold model from samsung, and i can count on one had how many times i have actually used the S Pen
This review will age well because as time goes on, the price of the Pixel fold will decrease but they will keep updating with features. I think this could be a good phone with software upgrades in the future.
I've never had a phone I liked more than this Pixel Fold. The iPhone 14 pro max, pixel 7 and Samsung s21 ultra I've had and they do not come close to this. Google killed it! No phone is worth $1800. I got $1000 off with Verizon. Its definitely worth $800!
I am looking at the same deal. With the $1,000 off from Verizon, it certainly makes a huge difference. I was trying to figure out between the Samsung Fold and Google Fold, but looks like Google may be the way to go. Monday, the OPPO (OnePlus Open) is set to release so I am going to look at that as well. My biggest concern is the photo and video quality. I want the best, and hearing that the Google Fold doesn't have the best video quality.
@@aberdeenmeadows The Verizon deal made it 100% worth it. I love this fold. The front screen is wonderful . It's not perfect but I'm hoping software helps fix those things. This phone is also the heaviest I've ever had. The camera performs the best in the daylight. At night it's mediocre and the video is fine but not near Apple. I'm not sure how it goes up against the Z fold. If you come into this knowing it's not perfect but for $800, the good outweighs the bad, then go for it.
So I was watching your video on my z fold 2 , I noticed some things you said about the fold a multi tasking , you can actually do a lot of spilt screen sharing like the photos copy and paste either for Samsung gallery or Google Photos it works I did it as you were explaining. I can see where having a longer phone sucks but software wise they have more similar things than not. Great video
I switched from ZFold 3 to Pixel Fold and I use the inside screen so much less, which feels wrong, but the Fold is just so much fun to hold and use. I know that sounds weird, that a phone would be "fun to hold", but that's really the only way to describe it.
Fold 3 user here. As much as I struggled with the keyboard on the outside screen I really like the thin design when it is closed. It feels great in hand. I actually quite got used to typing on the narrow keyboard. My only issues are the camera and the battery life.
I see myself as a fairly heavy phone user but my fold 4 battery life has always done me justice. But my biggest work around is using Samsung dex whenever I want to game and I use a steamdeck dock to have a wired connection and use a monitor
The fold 3 had the absolute worst battery life. I'm quite surprised your able to stay with it. I had both zFold 3 &4 and using the Pixel Fold is quite a liberating experience that cannot be overstated.
I just want a two-screen phone, and not a foldable. If Samsung or Google released one, I would definitely make the switch from my iPhone since Microsoft dropped the ball...per usual.
I found your choice of comments useful in your review. Most reviews point out the cameras, and the style, and the battery, and the sound. I want a phone a smart phone but primarily a a tool to communicate either voice or text. I have a desktop, and a laptop, and a tablet, and a camera. I do not need to reproduce their functionality. i did appreciate your comment about the compromises because the functionality of the Pixel Fold as a phone was worth it.
Running Android 14 beta the battery last a day and half with 7 hours on screen time everyday. Battery charges faster never over heats. Watching on my Pixel Fold.
Same here, Pixel Fold was just released and designs and other factors will definitely need to be improved overtime and on their next models if they will convince me to switch to their side, I just feel like apps are not yet properly optimized on the Pixel Fold yet
I find that the Pixel Fold optimises apps better than the Z Fold 5. When I open Gmail, it's divided correctly, when I open the Z Fold it's just one big app and not optimised correctly.😮
You nailed the nuance of the device. I still have friends who claim flip-out keyboards like the Droid were peak. It is nice to use something different and be on clean Android again.
Do we think that the fold design will become standard in the next few years? This design plus a pen for note taking could easily replace a phone and mini tablet.
I really like the "Passport" proportions that Google went with for their foldable. It's the reason I would finally seriously consider a "fold" type phone vs a "flip" style for my first folding phone. Hopefully they will continue to refine it though. The inside bezels should be smaller. And they really need to work on app support.
The reason why samsung makes the front screen narrow is because it's foldable phone. The intent is using the inner screen more often the the front screen. Some brands are making the front screen like regular phone. So what is the point of using the inner screen if you have regular front screen to work or to use with.
I've been a Samsung Note user since the Note 2. If Samsung would've come out with a fold the same size as the Pixel fold, I would have sold an appendage to buy one lmfao. With that said I would love to have a Pixel Fold, I think it would be a perfect replacement because of how I use my S22 ultra and the apps that I typically use. Thanks for the video. 👍
While i definitely understand why some prefer the pixel, even without considering software I prefer Samsung. It's not too big for me one handed or two as someone who's last 2 phones were a Galaxy 10+ and Iphone 12 pro max. I probably us the outer screen for everything aside from videos and gaming but those are also what I got the fold for. If I wanted a phone to use as a phone I'd have gotten the ultra and if I'm the type to take pictures I probably would have gotten the pixel. For what I need and want a foldable for the Z fold is near perfect. Just want a better case for it haha😅
If anyone would use the outer screen 85% of the time. Why just not getting a regular phone + a tablet for the remaining 15% ???? And it would be half the price
@@DeRockeyTech that’s kind of what I think. As someone who games heavily and never uses his phone as a phone this fold is perfect. Not too big, near perfect form factor, and the snapdragon has been blowing me away so far with it’s capability
@techr1320 actually no. The whole point of a folding phone of this shape and this high price is to have a tablet most of the time and u can fold in your pocket and make a phone call on the go. Not the other way around
@@DeRockeyTech the point of a folding phone depends on the user but you should be able to have zero issues using the front display as that’s all you will use when you first get it out your pocket. Z fold fails at this due to the bad front display. Pixel when opened is still more comfortable to use when opened up even if it currently lacks some of the features and software specs of the fold. People see more likely be able to use the pixel fold as their main device than they will the Z fold. It feels like Z fold can only ever be a secondary device
If its sold here, wouldn’t mind trying google. As it goes now, fold 5 is the definitive choice for me. Coming from ios ecosystem, pixel lack of pen support is a down side for me. And the wide front screen is a horror for one handed
Love your honest takes and amazing video production, buddy. As a long term Fold user, having used all of the Samsung Folds yet, I have to agree on the aspect ratio. It's better on most other folds. The service and availability in regions other than the west, the history of software refinements and the better performing chip is what makes me pick the Samsung up. As someone who travels for 9 months a year, the modems on the Tensor chips are absolutely crippling in a lot of regions! Keep dishing out the awesome content, buddy! Love it.
I totally understand the mentality of compromising functions for a particular form factor or feel of a device. Same as your preference of the Pixel Fold, mine is with the Huawei Mate XS2. For me that's the best form factor, build quality, and feel for a foldable device. Looks great. Great to use with one hand. When folded the front screen is very usable (not too narrow, good 6.5 inches, looks like a regular phone), and when opening the device it opens from the outside: you aren't opening a book, but rather the screen is wrapped around the entire device, and you unwrap the portion from the back to the side to add to your front screen. It isn't flimsy either. Looks sleek and sturdy. The design is overall rounded, premium, phone has good cameras too. To me they got the form factor and the feel absolutely right. However, the Mate XS2 has a ton of downsides. Small battery, doesn't have 5G if I recall correctly, doesn't support Google services. You can sideload it of course, but there will still be restrictions, you will have limited access to google services (Maps, can use, but can't login for example, etc.), because the device lacks Google certificates, API, support, etc. Probably have trouble using paying services (GooglePay, SamsungPay, ApplePay, Wallet, or whatever comes to mind) and banking apps as well. The price is insane too - somewhere between 1.5k and 2k USD. It's just dumb paying so much for sub par chipsets or lack thereof, and lack of services. It is really indefensible. The ONLY thing they got close to perfect is the design, and the screen, and that is quite a big achievement in my opinion. I would compromise many functions for the perfect folded screen. I'll also add this; The fact that the screen wraps around the phone, and you might think that it would be scratched up if you put it into your pockets or a bag. No. Just no. I've used different Android phones over the years, all without cases or screen protectors, just out of the box like they were, and even though you always get fingerprints that you can wipe away, I have NEVER scratched ANY of the phone screens, neither from being in pockets, nor bags, nor just laying on tables, in cars, on beds, couches, etc. NEVER. So I can't imagine, even the wrapped up screen of the Mate XS2, having any danger of being scratched.......unless you literally take a screw driver and with force start to scratch lines into it. It's just stupid. No, the Mate XS2 would not get scratched up when you wear it in your jeans pocket. Case closed. Honestly, all the other folding phones on the market look like chunky things to me - too industrial, not premium enough; Not OnePlus Open, not Pixel Fold, not Motorola Razr+, not Samsung Z Fold nor Z Flip. They are all mid, going for the "wrong" form factor. The "industrial booklet" instead of a "rounded, thin, premium outside wrap".
Guys DO NOT BUY A SAMSUNG FOLD. My fold4 inner display broke on its own within 1 year and 4 months just out of the warranty date. The inner display is not ready for consumers. Samsung intentionally puts the warranty at 1 year, so they won't be liable for when it breaks. You will have to buy an additional 3-5 year extended warranty. HEED MY WARNING.
Even my screen does not last even 12 months. I have used the Samsung fold from gen 1. And had to change screens 4 times. And they make you pay for their hardware issues. Switching to pixel this year. Hopefully they have better service
I have been using a Z fold 3 for 2 years and the one thing I have always disliked is the skinny front screen. Texting sucks on it. The dimensions of the Google Fold's front screen is exactly the reason I am thinking about trying it out. Thanks for the great video sharing your experience.
It's crazy I always got Samsung for many years after trying apple and not liking all the ways you can't personalize the apple phone Ive had all the note series up to note 10 and than went Samsung fold starting with the fold 2 ,3,4 but decided to go with the pixel fold and love it even with all the compromises
Z flip 5 is nice. In a year you'll probably be moving back to Sammy as there are some huge things coming -=- The 'S24 Ultra' (since you were a note user) will have a titanium chassis along with the ability to text using satellites, so trusted sources are saying.
How's keeping this device on the charger helping with battery life other than degrading it in time? Imho that's poor advice. Just charge it completely and whenever you get to 5% go ahead and charge it 👍🏼
The form factor of the Z fold is poor. Too tall and thin as a phone and not in landscape when unfolded. Pixel is better in both those respects. I will be going Pixel fold next gen
I agree and I would have bought Honor Magic v2 in a blink if it was available internationally.... Or if Samsung learns any lesson next year, but yeah really disappointed I can't buy one right now.
The Pixel has a better form factor for sure but at that price with a chip like the Tensor 2 it's a pass for me... Google needs to get away from the Samsung made chip ASAP..
I so much prefer the inner display even for simple apps like messaging that I am in the habit of simply opening the phone. It is so automatic for me to open the phone I even use it for things that could be done on the outer display. So I only use the outer display for phone calls and Spotify when I am in my car. The result is that I couldn't care less about the outer display on my Fold 5.
I agree with you, it's just the form factor when folded it looks more like a normal phone than a narrow phone I like that phone, even with larger bezels inside but outside to me is what makes the whole difference in other words the wider and smaller designs makes all the difference. For me personally I prefer smaller phones so design language actually out weights the cons.
I'm try to figure out why he said the split screen won't rotate when you turn the phone, that is incorrect sir. I'm surprised a lot of these tech reviewers miss a lot of things on their reviews astound me.
please dont say its because the front screen being wider. if thats it, then you should just use a candy bar phone. the front screen is not meant to be used the majority of the time. it is supposed to be used only when you need to do something quick. you buy a fold to use the inside screen not the out. but i agree samsung needs to make it wider. i wish they had a fold ultra that was the size of 2 s23 ultras. that was what everyone was hoping for. we wanted a bigger tablet that could fold into a standard cell phone not fold into a midget cell phone
Love the Z Fold phones being narrow so I can actually use it one handed... the Pixel Fold and any other normal sized phone become pretty awkward to use efficiently one handed, unless you have huge hands of course. If your using the "main" screen only 15% of the time you might as well just get a S23 Ultra or I Phone 14 pro.
I hear this argument a lot but I don't really think many of us are using our phones with one hand all that much. I would guess most of us are using both hands to interact with our phones the majority of the time. It's an esoteric "feature" or advantage that Samsung users bring up all the time. And as a current and previous user of both phones, this one-handed use benefit argument is moot because the Pixel Fold is just as easy one-handed as the ZFold.
Everyone is sure entitled to their own opinion on the matter. I think its safe to say that nobody should assume that people use their Folds closed or open more or less. I have bigger hands and I just find it 10x easier 1 handing the Fold 3 vs the S23 Ultra or even the Pixel Fold which I had my hands on recently. This day an age everyone is typically multitasking to some extent WHILE holding their phones, which you cant really multitask efficiently while trying to 2 hand a big phone. @@robg77
@@robg77 I disagree. I regularly use my phone one handed. Walking through the metro with a bag in one hand, replying to a message or sending a text with the other. It's a common use case if you are using your phone on the go in large cities. That being said, I primarily use my Fold open. I'd say I have it open about 90% of the time. I bought it to be a tablet first and phone second. Frankly they could remove the outside screen entirely and I'd be ok with it. Still, the major reason the Samsung is a better device is the Spen. With such a large screen I am able to do properly productive tasks on my Fold 5. I reference a dictionary in a pop-up window while using anki full screen. Ankidroid (a flashcard app that uses spaced repetition) has samsung Spen support built in with perfect palm rejection. Awesome for writing down my answers while doing my cards to cement the information in my mind. I use it for that purpose for at least 1.5 hours a day. Then I'm able to properly mark up and sign documents easily. I also have lightroom on my phone and use the pen to perform various edits. While a larger device would be even better for that, the fold screen is large enough to be productive. I probably knock out about 30 photos a day picking it up and editing here and there. On one shoot recently I dumped the camera contents directly to my phone and used the 5g connection to sync it up to the adobe cloud. This automatically cleared the full res raws from my phone, uploaded them, and then downloaded some smart previews to be edited instead. So I could shoot, dump the footage, back it up to my cloud and main PC rig back home, and perform some initial edits and deliver directly from a single device that fits in my pocket. Huge productivity tool for me. By comparison I would find the Pixel fold to be essentially useless. Real Estate is there, but the ability to take advantage of that real estate is severely lacking.
When blackberry phones came out Quarter keyboard And a small screen everyone got by it and made do with they had. Heck even first iPhone with it small screen and keyboard was small and people were perfectly fine with it. To say samsung z fold with tall narrow aspect ratio make it not unusable is understatement.
Great video and as someone who was a user of the samsung fold 3 and 4 I can comfortably say i love my pixel fold. As you mentioned with the pros and cons of using this device i really feel the pros out weigh the cons and I could never see myself going back to a Samsung foldable. The outter screen is SUCH a huge positive and for those who say different are either huge samsung fanboys or and you only use the inner display. The outter screen on the Samsung is awful and having to pretty much open it every time to complete a simple task is just annoying. Anyways I love my pixel fold and if you're on the fence which one to get do yourself a favor and go with the Pixel. You'll thank me later. 😊
Same exact issue I was as always opening the zFold, even to text, as it was a huge frustration to do anything with the zFold's narrow front screen. Having the Pixel Fold is as very liberating experience.
i brought this 16 month later like new for around 500 bucks with case and cover. I suspect with the latest software update the phone is working great and so a complete bargain to boot. Just needed to get use to it, find work around to things like clone app (it has split user account function) and tweek the settings to own liking.
Hear me out guys this is going to be a longer respone:. I am an iphone user however i had to leave apple and advise you all to do the same or dont upgrade anymore and have 2 phones. Anyway, i switched to the s23 ultra, its perfect, was thinking of google pixel but not ready for it , and now fold 5. Well i impulse bought the fold 5 and guys this phone is it. The outer screen is just for one hand use, battery savings and not really supposed to be a huge screen. You buy a fold to open it up. And u fold it so its small in the pocket.the fold 5 is awesome because its almost like my favorite phone of all time iphone 5! Really miss those days. Im not use to android ecosystem yet but its been WAY BETTER on my end with texting, calling, customization, etc. Galaxy charges really fast and the battery is all day. All in all if you're on the fence get the fold 5. You'll love it
Glad you had positive experience going with a fold. There is always honeymoon stage, and there is always a better choice. Speaking from experience, the better experience will be the Pixel Fold. Unfortunately Samsung has strong propaganda and rumor mills to keep their customers from knowing.
I agree with your reasoning and enjoy your content. But from my viewpoint, $1800 for a foldable where you are using the outside screen 85% of the time...might as well get the S23U or the P7P and save $500-$600. 🤷
this is the main reason i chose the pixel fold over the fold 5. The software will get better as developers update them (battery is really good for me i get the same time as with my 14pro im on android 14beta tho which i believe makes a huge difference) I just prefer being able to use the phone most of the time like a standard phone, then if i need a bigger screen its there. Also FYI i use the mobile version and have saved tabs for facebook, instagram and X when i use the inside screen which is perfectly optimixed. Then i use the app on the outer screen, perf compromise in the meantime until the app developers get on it.
Well ,I had both phones and I can only say, Samsung has lots of customize options,, better screens quality, funny camera modules, AI ,but Google has front Screen which I can use not like Samsung.I missed Samsung but now I have only Pixel fold
Why would anybody want a $2,000 Z Fold 5 phone that has shitty cameras and a shitty cover display. The multitasking on the pixel fold and apps not filling the inner screen can be fixed with software. I have both phones and the pixel fold has way better cameras and cover display.
Not a devoted fan of either company. I'm coming from the iPhone. The pixel fold looks like it was designed like 10+ years ago with the bezels. The crease is crazy visible, and it doesn't open flat. Plus, more of the apps are designed for the folds screen ratio and actually go full screen. The split screen limitations are stupid on the pixel. The front screen on the fold 5 is super easy to use and I have giant hands. I can not imagine buying the pixel over the fold for anything lol
Everything "negative" stated about the pixel is not real world usage. The bezels help you hold it without touching or applying undue pressure on the screen. The center crease is wider but less deep, so less visible when used. The opening a few degrees less than flat was corrected in late productions. The apps work fine now with latest updates, and also 90° rotation makes it exactly same as zFold, although with zFold I was always rotating the screen 90° to use two apps (for split screen). In my experience, it is always zFold users that do not have the opportunity to use the pixel Fold. Many reviewers that have other "folds" have kept going back to the pixel Fold. It is unfortunate for those to never experience the pixel Fold. I had two zFolds and it was a liberating experience to move onto the Pixel Fold. There are many factors that are never mentioned like the AI & call screening & latest Android versions & camera software abilities.
Great video. It would be nice if Samsung kind of copied the Pixel fold for the Fold 6. Would be nice to have a smaller phone form factor when closed and then mini tablet when opened like the Pixel fold. Google new what they were making and I am surprised Samsung did not think about it that way.
As always, a great review. I think you nailed it at the end of the video. If Google comes out next year with big improvements and a stylus housed in the phone and Samsung continues with it's current aspect ratio, the Fold will probably draw some Samsung users over to the Fold.

Pixel Fold is the Oppo Find N2. The passport format is the way to go for foldable and Samsung went to a wrong way in my opinion.
I'll still take the pixel fold over it
@@darkjorgelink Ok good for you?
I agree with you. I had the note 2, 3, and I never used the S-Pen.
Great video
Hey man how is that z fold 2 holding up for ya? Any issues with the inner display?
Used both 3&4 if you could make it to a 5 via reasonable upgrade exchange you will be amazed with the battery life...
I much prefer the design of my Z fold 5 over the Pixel Fold
Same here, Pixel Fold was just released and designs and other factors will definitely need to be improved overtime and on their next models if they will convince me to switch to their side, I just feel like apps are not yet properly optimized on the Pixel Fold yet
You can have your opinions but if you don't speak from experience of owning both, you will never realize the limitations of the zFold
The executive who continues to choose the aspect ratio of 23:9 should be fired immediately without severance.
Update: Now, Google Fold can utilize all apps in full screen.
I've been a Samsung Note
user since
the Note 2. If Samsung would've come out
with a fold the same size as the Pixel fold,
I would have sold an appendage to buy one
lmfao. With that said I would love to have a
Pixel Fold,
I think it would be a perfect
replacement because of how I use my S22
ultra and the apps that I typically use. Thanks for the video. 👍
Why would you buy a expensive jitterbug phone for senior citizens
@@mikejames6588 I guess that since I'm 59 year's old I am a senior. LMFAO!!! 😆🤣🤣🤣
heres my idea of an Pixel. Give us the outside Screen as a normal Pixel Phone. A lot of people would buy it
While i definitely understand why some prefer the pixel, even without considering software I prefer Samsung.
@@DeRockeyTechyou could supply the same for the Z fold if you only use the inner display might as well buy a tablet
I did exactly the same switch to pixel fold. I love it
Thanks for not wasting my time. What do you think of graphene os for it?
If its sold here, wouldn’t mind trying google. As it goes now, fold 5 is the definitive choice for me. Coming from ios ecosystem, pixel lack of pen support is a down side for me. And the wide front screen is a horror for one handed
Was about to order this
Saw ur video
And thnxx for saving my money from getting wasted!
Getting the Z fold 5!
I love the size of the Pixel Fold
Never again Samsungs Android.
Price is too rich for me.
I have been using a Z fold 3 for 2 years and the one thing I have always disliked is the skinny front screen. Texting sucks on it. The dimensions of the Google Fold's front screen is exactly the reason I am thinking about trying it out. Thanks for the great video sharing your experience.
I'd like to hear your preference regarding the Pixel Fold vs the new HONOR magic v2. I really like what I'm seeing regarding the latter phone.
4:57 not true, idk about normal android version but on android 14 beta there is option to stretch to full screen every app
It's crazy I always got Samsung for many years after trying apple and not liking all the ways you can't personalize the apple phone
Ive had all the note series up to note 10 and than went Samsung fold starting with the fold 2 ,3,4 but decided to go with the pixel fold and love it even with all the compromises
Z flip 5 is nice. In a year you'll probably be moving back to Sammy as there are some huge things coming -=- The 'S24 Ultra' (since you were a note user) will have a titanium chassis along with the ability to text using satellites, so trusted sources are saying.
I went from galaxy fold 3 to pixel fold and shitsung wint get another cent
How's keeping this device on the charger helping with battery life other than degrading it in time? Imho that's poor advice. Just charge it completely and whenever you get to 5% go ahead and charge it 👍🏼
Another amazing and informative video from the tech RUclips GOAT HIMSELF🐐🐐🐐
The samsung is too narrow I wanted a normal size phone on the outside that phone is a joke 😂😂😂😂😂
Fold 5 user, I like the narrow front screen. I enjoy being able to navigate the screen with one hand. Which I was unable to do with the ultra 23.
Vibo X Fold 2 destroys them both
Me too!!!!
Too tall for a phone? It has the same height as iPhone pro max...
Yeah, but not as wide. It's tall and thin and so as a phone it's poor and as a tablet it's OK. Google have their aspect ratio perfect@@vosk6481
Missed opportunity for Google is not having stylus support IMO. I agree price is much higher for Gen 1 device.
What is that MagSafe that the Pixel Fold has?
Cant wait for the next video when you switch from the pixel fold to the OnePlus Open (hopefully)
The Pixel has a better form factor for sure but at that price with a chip like the Tensor 2 it's a pass for me... Google needs to get away from the Samsung made chip ASAP..
Hi Mike
love your channel and reviews. Did you do any videos for the pixel 9 Pro Fold?
You can use a stylus with the fold. Just not a digital one but a basic one which is all I need
Both screens
I'm try to figure out why he said the split screen won't rotate when you turn the phone, that is incorrect sir. I'm surprised a lot of these tech reviewers miss a lot of things on their reviews astound me.
Buying a folding phone to use the main screen 15% of the time.
Not targeting the average consumer are you!
please dont say its because the front screen being wider. if thats it, then you should just use a candy bar phone. the front screen is not meant to be used the majority of the time. it is supposed to be used only when you need to do something quick. you buy a fold to use the inside screen not the out. but i agree samsung needs to make it wider. i wish they had a fold ultra that was the size of 2 s23 ultras. that was what everyone was hoping for. we wanted a bigger tablet that could fold into a standard cell phone not fold into a midget cell phone
Pixel is the best experience!!
People complain too much
I get good battery life on my pixel fold
Common propaganda mentioned by those who never used a Pixel Fold. Couldn't be further than the truth.
Samsung fold is one handable closed. Pixel fold is a 2 handed device closed and opened
@@soberanisfam1323that's what people say who don't own a pixel Fold.

I don't know why but I can never see the Fold 5 further than a secondary device. I can, however, see using the Pixel Fold as a main phone
It's the front screen
You are right! The ratio is the reason, the outside display i dont use. One phone is better for the ratio, Oppo Find N2.
Can't believe Samsung didn't significantly increase the size of the outside screen. I thought it was a no brainer. Hence, I just ordered a pixel fold.
Not only that still can't use the s pen on the front
Not only that, still poor cameras & sharp crease,

i brought this 16 month later like new for around 500 bucks with case and cover. I suspect with the latest software update the phone is working great and so a complete bargain to boot. Just needed to get use to it, find work around to things like clone app (it has split user account function) and tweek the settings to own liking.
Is that mafsafe sticker directly on the phone? Can u share which you went with?
Sounds like you have to compromise too much just to have a more familiar aspect ratio with Pixel. Personally, I actually love the narrow Fold screen.
Having the pixel fold dnt feel like a compromise. I'm missing nothing but maybe customisation from the z fold.
This is exactly the propaganda that Samsung wants everyone to believe. It's the furthest thing from the truth. Only experienced users know better.
Where did you buy your sticker MagSafe ?
you should do a video about the s9 tab ultra and using it with an alternative keyboard
reall hope the🔋 improves with the 2nd gen. the multitasking is really appealing to me
I agree with your reasoning and enjoy your content. But from my viewpoint, $1800 for a foldable where you are using the outside screen 85% of the time...might as well get the S23U or the P7P and save $500-$600. 🤷
How's the temperature management on the pixel fold vs the ZF4/ZF5?
Thank you very much!
What about the OnePlus open? I've been bouncing between the pixel fold and the OnePlus open for a while on what my next phone is gonna be
this is the main reason i chose the pixel fold over the fold 5. Then i use the app on the outer screen, perf compromise in the meantime until the app developers get on it.
i have a fold 5, and im constantly thinking how much better it would be if it folded like the pixel. it has the perfect aspect ratio.
Agree on the need for wider z folds and hole for s pen
I am using a Fold 3 now and just traded in for the Pixel fold. Is that a good upgrade compared the the 3?
6:50 I see a lot of micro scratches on the display.
Well ,I had both phones and I can only say,
Samsung has lots of customize options,, better screens quality, funny camera modules, AI ,but Google has front Screen which I can use not like Samsung.I missed Samsung but now I have only Pixel fold
Why would anybody want a $2,000 Z Fold 5 phone that has shitty cameras and a shitty cover display. The multitasking on the pixel fold and apps not filling the inner screen can be fixed with software. I have both phones and the pixel fold has way better cameras and cover display.
Changed from the fold 4 to the pixel fold and do not regret it. Found the aspect ratio unusable on the fold 4
Im thinking of upgrading my earbud and im stuck between the buds2 pro and the linkbuds s which one do you recommend more?
Such a shame the Pixel Fold isn't available in Australia. I would of jumped at this as I love the form factor
I’m iPhone user but I want to switch to Pixar fold but issue is that it’s not available in my region unfortunately
Also, why dont you have a Discord server yet???
Where you get that sticker
What kind of magsafe case is that on that pixel? I like!
Not a case, basically a sticker you add to the back of the phone.
I will never own any phones like these if the battery is bad. What's the point of having all these features if the phone dies?
I've got a pixel 6 pro on pixel pass, ill probably go 8 pro this time around and then see where the foldables are at
Great video.
If Google comes out next year with big improvements and a stylus housed in the phone and Samsung continues with it's current aspect ratio, the Fold will probably draw some Samsung users over to the Fold.
next pixel fold vl obviously be lit🔥
