@@CharlesVanexX I get it. That's exactly the reason why they went with this specific form factor. Usable as a candy bar phone, but the tablet is optimized to be held in one hand when you open it.
I have the Pixel Fold and I love it. I know the apps will eventually catch up to this new form factor. Oddly, coming from the Pixel 7 Pro, on my Pixel Fold the facial recognition and integration seems much better and more responsive. Haven't had a Samsung since the Pixel brand launched.

Just got a fold 5. Had an iPhone 12 Pro Max. It sucks being trapped in ecosysyems because there are aspects of Apple that work really well... like their accessory integration and iMessage. I was going to wait for the iPhone 15 unveil but I doubt there will be anything that would blow me away. Ive traditionally switched phones every year but I had the iPhone 12 for 3 years. @kevinblood6277 I can deal with the changes as I've been with android many times before. I personally like the look of android watches over apple watches. CJ this was the cleanest and most thoughtout real life comparison with fair and honest opinions on both flagship devices. I'm currently rocking the Fold5 from 14Pro max. I do miss the battery life but the fact that iphone can't split screen or even toggle different volume levels for media is just straight up dumb in 2023. Apple is holding back features for no reason when it has one of the best processing chips in the game right now. SMDH. What you said at the end in summary is true. Samsung needs to make the front screen at least 21:9 like Sony does. The narrow front screen is sometimes great for one hand use but overall I find it more annoying that so much gets left out when viewing content. I dont always want to unfold my phone to do regular task like I used to on iphone like composing quick emails or with certain games.
I have both. While there are some unique features of Pixel phones that I appreciate and otherwise miss when using other phones, there isn't much of anything that is unique to the Pixel Fold itself other than the form factor. It does feel well made, and its heft contributes to that. Kind of like a premium watch. The Pixel Fold's more comfortable outer screen ratio isn’t enough to offset its goofy inner screen experience, for me. The fact that the inner screen experience is mostly just an extended, versus optimized, outer screen experience makes it feel less than half baked, to me. Without anything else to point to, I see little value beyond their traditional form factors in Google's folding phone offering. Considering some things like better cameras and available kickstand cases, the price premium of the Pixel Fold over the Pixel 7 Pro isn't warranted, IMO. I just don't see much added value, at least not enough IMO with the Pixel Fold. I suppose the same, to some degree, could be said about the Fold 5 versus the S23 Ultra, but for me, because of the Fold 5's software which does much more to capitalize on the form factor there is much more added value. That's not to say some changes wouldn't be appreciated. They would. However, screen size or ratio changes aren't priorities on my "wish list". I'd rather see a silo'd Spen and higher capacity battery. Overall the Fold 5 feels like it brings more value and leverages the for factor for a unique, and better, user experience, IMO. That's just for me, personally, though. I think the Pixel Fold may be a better choice for some people, maybe even the majority of people. The Pixel feels more like a "starter foldable", that people new to the general form factor might be more comfortable with. There are people that could own the Fold 5 for a year and use the Spen for less than an hour, who'd never use DEX, and would care more about the outer screen ratio and flex mode ratio (for specific content) more than anything else. For them the Pixel Fold may be a better choice. Certainly if someone was coming from an iOS device, the Pixel Fold would have much less of a learning curve and take less effort to learn how to utilize all functionality compared to the Fold 5. Likewise, the Pixel Fold's form factor should be less of an adjustment. When it comes to value, one thing most videos like this tend to leave out is these device's potential value (either sold 2nd hand or traded-in) a year from now. My impression is that the Fold 5 will hold more of its (same) original cost. Likewise for something like 4½ year from now. So, if that's true, it would seem that the "true cost of ownership" for the Fold 5 would be lower than the Pixel Fold (even without factoring in things like electricity, cases, etc). Meanwhile, the Fold 5 would also offer more options, features, and more capable hardware. Still, while for me it is the Fold 5, if I was forced to pick one for my grandmother it'd be the Pixel Fold.
Z Fold 5 is the best. But something about that Pixel experience just swayed me (longtime Fold user, I had Fold 2, 3 and 4). Now I'm using the Pixel and for sure I agree that Samsung does almost everything better than Pixel but the simplistic software experience and buttery smoothness of stock Android is making me stick with Pixel Fold for now.
@@Super-c00n yes. I won't be going back to Samsung. The overall software experience is better and smoother. Miss a few of the extra features from Samsung, but the Pixel is really nice.
That pixel fold quality design looks two thousand and five 🚮 It's built like the note 3 Inside and out I can't believe someone would compare these two.
I have both currently. Yes I know it's unnecessary but I like tech. I love the pixel fold for the camera and the form factor. I gotta say I love the Samsung for everything else. It's my first pixel so I'll admit I've been a samsung guy for a while and I just greatly prefer one ui to stock android. I love all the features and customization of the Samsung software over the more limited pixel. Dex is becoming huge for me because I also have the xreal air ar glasses and pixel won't even allow me to use them wired or wireless with it's limits. My dream phone would honestly be a Samsung fold with the pixel fold form factor. I do truly love the outer screen on the pixel. I want a small phone that is easy to use when out and about that takes good pictures. But when I want to work or consume media I want to be able to open the screen whenever I want. I see them both as being great at a lot of things but the fact that Samsung has had years to develop and cater their software to foldables it just shows massively with day to day use. I understand the argument about the outer screen being easy to use one handed on the fold 5 but it's also equally as difficult to use 2 handed when I want to and don't feel like using the inside screen and while one handed outside screen use is nice I tend to still try to use 2 hands because it's an almost 2000 dollar phone and I try not to take too many chances. And yes there are just some social instances when it is awkward to use the inside screen in public and that's where the pixel folds form factor just works better. I also think having a wider outside screen allows for the thinner overall design of the pixel and that makes it much more comfortable in the pocket as well. As of now my main phone is my pixel because I like the camera and overall design better for being out and about. My z fold 5 is my backup and a great power user phone. Essentially it has done away with my laptop. As far as other differences I'll say I love Samsung new hinge and the other thing I didn't think I'd care as much about is that it opens FULLY super easily compared to pixels hinge. I really didn't think having to more force the pixel open and flat would be that big of a deal but since I've been using them both Samsungs hinge just feels way more premium as a result. It snaps open and closed with much less effort. My hope is that with the competition hearing up overall in the category we as consumers really are going to have some great all around options in the next couple of years and Im excited for that.
Give me the fold 5 today. Love the pixels form factor for the buffer front screen but if I get one if these it'll be for the tablet experience and Sammy software is second to none
I've tried Z3, Z4 and Z5. None of them stayed in my hands more than 3 months... I definitely prefer the Google Pixel fold form factor (like MS Duo or OPPO N2) ! Thanks for your video.
Good presentation. My preference, while I'm still researching, is the Z Fold 5. I prefer the Pixel fold horizontal landscape screen. I wonder what it looks like with a video playing on it?
It's all about preferences. I have both of them. I prefer the pixel fold, just because of the outside screen. I have a tremor. Any extra screen is key for me.
I’m conflicted on what to go with as I have a iPhone 14 pro max but the pixel fold has peaked my interested with the wider front display but I do like Samsung as I switch between iPhone & Samsung frequently
The Z Fold 5 is loaded w/ volumes of continuous different ways for one to use as their daily driver w/ ease for productivity (S Pen) and and fun... (camera / video)!
Both devices are great to me. I enjoy using both of them for their respective strengths! Of course z fold 5 has better software experience and no one can beat their displays, but remember this is googles first iteration on the fold. If they can compete with a 5th iteration, that's saying something! You have to make your decision based on what matters to you the most! Great vid CJ, always entertaining!💯
From what i can gather from various picture comparisons, and even hands on with the Fold 5 myself, the Fold 5 generally has a greater amount of detail with the compromise of more contrast as well; While the Pixel has better skin tones and color accuracy, but at the cost of detail. Both are still really good for cameras on your smartphone that fit in your pockets, at this point its really just nit-picking. It could very easily be a preference thing at this point. Samsung has been pretty consistent, at least, at favoring a more contrasty, vibrant look, however, they could at least do to add an accuracy mode with the "pro mode" options.
Well my Pixel Fold battery life is awesome running Android 14 beta I'm getting 7 to 8 hours on screen time. The battery optimization is way better and software changes. I don't have charge every other day getting a day and a half with medium to heavy usage. The Pixel Fold camera also has 5 times optical zoom for pictures which is a beautiful. It takes best photos compared to my Z Fold 3 I still have. Pixel Fold camera software makes the best pictures.
The Pixel Fold has a front display that people use more then the inner display. The Fold 5 has a front display that people say is too narrow so people will use the inner display more. I like the one handed usage on the outer display of the Fold 5. The inner display is a no contest. The Pixel Fold 5's bezels are a no go for me. It's 2023 and phones are going the less bezel design.
nah pixel fold too wide to comfortably hold/use compared to the slimmer fold 5. think of a tv remote and how easy it is too use/hold. ergonomics on point. opening to landscape mode is a BIG NO NO
I'm watching this on my Z Fold 5 and Pixel fold great phone I got to use it but I'll say Z Fold is way more optimized as it's the 5th Fold they made and also with pixel you will not find many reasons to open the phone since the front screen is so good I have no problem typing on front panel on my Fold 5 people are just exaggerating as for pictures if just point and shoot Pixel is better, when it comes to editing Samsung is King
Is it easier to write on the Z Fold 5? I played with both on a store but I couldn’t try with the outer screen. I prefer the design of the Z Fold and because software is already optimised.
I tried the z flip 5 but not the fold versions yet. Been a really cool experience tbh but I think i will stay with an S23 ultra as main phone. Its more polished
Z Fold 5 is the winner for me, I can't spend 1800 on a secondary chip like the tensor 2. It doesn't even stack up to last years chip, until Google ups its chip to a least compete with the current generation snapdragon or lowers it's price I can't see myself buying a pixel fold. They should a least give you a good trade-in deals but they do not.
I've used the z fold 1, 2, 3, 4 and almost never used the narrow screen all these years since it was just way too small, got pixel fold this year not going back to z until they change the outer display if ever.
I'm team ZF5, but to be fair I don't own nor had hands on with the PXF. I agree with Samsung's philosophy to keep the candybar form factor vs. the chocolate slab but, I feel they could still give us a couple mm more to mitigate the minor annoyances esp. with the keyboard. On another note for the PXF, the visible hinge on the inside and the massive bezel is just absolutely hideous and not pleasing aethistically.
I really prefer the Pixel Fold's form factor over the Z Fold 5. The inside screen bezels don't bother me at all. What does cover me is the battery life, charging speeds and heating issues.
Running Around 14 beta Pixel Fold no battery issues even before adding plus battery last a day abd half with medium to heavy usage 7 hours on screen time.
I have both, the pixel has some cool features (I like saying "send" to send voice texts for example), but the Z feels more polished overall. The pixel fold isn't tested from a physical durability standpoint yet (too new), vs the 5th iteration of the Z. I'm sticking with Samsung on this one but it's close.
I don’t think it’s possible to get flagship cameras on foldables ever. It’s a catch 22 where if the camera tech or all other tech gets small enough to fit a certain sensor in a foldable while adhering to weight and thickness needs, the regular slab phones will always be able to put a better version in because they don’t have to engineer around as many limitations. The only way I see it working is if they purposely hold back slab flagship cameras to match. No one wants the alternative which is super thick camera bumps on the back of their foldable
I do see a day when Samsung offers the same size dimension as the Z Fold 5 in the future but the phone folded across the other way to satisfy current Pixel Fold users.
Pixel fold for the win, ive every samsung fold, & didnt like the skinny front screen, so when i first saw the pixel, i knew it would be the phone id love 😍 love it
Do you think Google has lost it swag in smart phone game. I'm a pixel 7 user and i use it for work and I thought about switching to Samsung because of battery life and because when i take my pixel 7 out in sun light i can't see the screen. What are your thoughts on the state of Google and should i get the pixel fold or z fold 5 or S23 ultra
Can't have a foldable phone without a stylus. It makes no sense. Hopefully the z6 will have the pixels form factor and a bigger battery and better cameras
Team fold 5.... I think there going to do two folds next year z fold 6 and z fold 6 ultra next year just like they did the S line and note series when they got to the number 6 🤔
My opinion towards the overall software experience, the Galaxy Fold 5 wins HANDS DOWN. You can FORCE every app to at least ACT like they are somewhat optimized for the fold models, where as you have NO option to do that on the pixel. OneUI is almost a direct competitor to IOS, and as a result it beats almost ANY other software on the Android side. (OneUI with ONE+ is actually pretty smoothe and have to give it the props it still deserves, and am excited to see what THEY have coming with they're leaked Folds)
Why do you have different backgrounds and think it was a fair test. Looks to me like the Z fold background is brighter in the first place? Same background= fair test
Had zfold 3 and 4 . Went with the Google fold due to the aspect ratio. Samsung got comfortable and didn't make the change. Samsung's hardware is amazing but their front cover screen is way too narrow and unusable
I never had any issue with my Pixel fold ,it's never overheated, the battery is very good and the camera is super excellent.all the bs and backlash I listened on social media to push and discourage people not buy it .for me it's the perfect phone, better design ,much compatible and comfortable to typehandwritten.of course ,😅 Samsung is good at it ,to brainwash the mindsets of some people.thanks Google for your great work
I also have the Huawei Mate XS....now if the fold 5 was the same dimensions as the Huawei, the F9ld 5 would be the best foldable by far, especially with its zoom n picture quality
is it just me or a z fold camera's way bigger in person. Cause I got a z 4 and its huge compared to images. Or is it bc its an EU version instead of UK or US?

Spot on 🎯🎯
The pixel is a perfect size. I'll take that. Thanks. Can you send it tomorrow?
switched from fold 3 To the fold 5. at first I was disappointed at the lack of changes but as I use the device I'm starting to make acceptions 😅
I just bought my Pixel Fold 3 days ago and I love it. With Android 14 I get a charge from 6am to 7pm of heavy use
Do you still have the Pixel Fold?
@@Super-c00n yes. I won't be going back to Samsung. The overall software experience is better and smoother. Miss a few of the extra features from Samsung, but the Pixel is really nice.
Looks like the color has a lil more pop on the pixel
Yo CJ, u gotta be careful. The technology snobs and spec sheet thots are easily offended 😂
😂😂😂
Very well said. Z fold with pixel fold form factor is the killer design. One UI is just unmatched at this time.
@@srsgonuGoogle is a superior software company and their future software updates will eventually match & surpass Samsung.
Give me the fold 5 today. Love the pixels form factor for the buffer front screen but if I get one if these it'll be for the tablet experience and Sammy software is second to none
Great review man. I had the pixel 7 and was the most buggy and worst battery life phone I’ve ever had. I’m gonna go with the Galaxy on this one
I've tried Z3, Z4 and Z5. None of them stayed in my hands more than 3 months...
I definitely prefer the Google Pixel fold form factor (like MS Duo or OPPO N2) !
Thanks for your video.
I own both, but the weight reduction from the Z fold 5 is what did it for me #TeamFold5
Good presentation. My preference, while I'm still researching, is the Z Fold 5. I prefer the Pixel fold horizontal landscape screen. I wonder what it looks like with a video playing on it?
You know, its the One UI of Samsung makes it the better option over other brands.
You mean one bloatware?
@@XdekHckr Its not a bloatware. Its the Operating System itself.
It's tie to me. Hard decision to make on that one. I'm torn between both devices. I love them both.
Right! 😂
The Z Fold 5 is loaded w/ volumes of continuous different ways for one to use as their daily driver w/ ease for productivity (S Pen) and and fun... (camera / video)!
Im loving and enjoying the pixel fold more than i ever did my z fold. Pixel for me.
Great video sir. Can I ask which icon pack that is?
Both devices are great to me. I enjoy using both of them for their respective strengths! Of course z fold 5 has better software experience and no one can beat their displays, but remember this is googles first iteration on the fold. If they can compete with a 5th iteration, that's saying something! You have to make your decision based on what matters to you the most! Great vid CJ, always entertaining!💯
Facts. Both are great and it was a GREAT first effort by far. Says a lot for the Pixel Fold. Respect
Have the Zed Fold 5 but I'm thinking of getting the pixel as well
From what i can gather from various picture comparisons, and even hands on with the Fold 5 myself, the Fold 5 generally has a greater amount of detail with the compromise of more contrast as well; While the Pixel has better skin tones and color accuracy, but at the cost of detail.
Great video bro. I love the pixel fold. I actually prefer it over the Samsung. Samsung still can’t get those skin tones right.
Have the Zfold 5 for a week....loving this beast of a device, all my friends at work want to get the Fold....F9ld 5 all day
Well my Pixel Fold battery life is awesome running Android 14 beta I'm getting 7 to 8 hours on screen time.
I'm a have to load this or mines
Also the batter on my fold 4 is 9 hours . I game , watch RUclips , music , emulate, and movies . So how isn’t the fold 5 better
Zfold 5 > pixel , samsung has been hamering away for 5 generations now . Thst pixel fold inner display is garbage 🗑
Is it easier to write on the Z Fold 5? I played with both on a store but I couldn’t try with the outer screen. I prefer the design of the Z Fold and because software is already optimised.
Pixel fold has a better picture shot. Very clean
Yea, listen SAMSUNG! we want flagship camera and wider design like the pixel 😂😂
For $1800, you can get a Honor majic V2 Ultimate, which is the thinnest, lightest, and comes with a Bluetooth pen. Its 2yrs ahead of everyone else.
I tried the z flip 5 but not the fold versions yet. Been a really cool experience tbh but I think i will stay with an S23 ultra as main phone. Its more polished
Here is a side quest for you master. Could we get an honest android review between the Galaxy buds pro2 and B&O beoplay EX?
Z Fold 5 is the winner for me, I can't spend 1800 on a secondary chip like the tensor 2. It doesn't even stack up to last years chip, until Google ups its chip to a least compete with the current generation snapdragon or lowers it's price I can't see myself buying a pixel fold. They should a least give you a good trade-in deals but they do not.
Nice video
I've used the z fold 1, 2, 3, 4 and almost never used the narrow screen all these years since it was just way too small, got pixel fold this year not going back to z until they change the outer display if ever.
"YOUUUTUUBE" gotta avoid Samsung knights with the S Pen sword 😅
I'm team ZF5, but to be fair I don't own nor had hands on with the PXF. I agree with Samsung's philosophy to keep the candybar form factor vs. the chocolate slab but, I feel they could still give us a couple mm more to mitigate the minor annoyances esp. with the keyboard. On another note for the PXF, the visible hinge on the inside and the massive bezel is just absolutely hideous and not pleasing aethistically.
The only drawback with zf, is the screen replacement is very expensive. ($500). Make sure to get an extendended warranty for another year.
Galaxy Z Fold 5 for me. It's Samsung's whole system of related hardware and software interplay like the Smart monitors integration, etc.
Hi, where can I find the galaxy z food 5 theme and wallpaper you use? I like it, but can't find it 🤦🏽

Wallpaper Cave website for wallpaper
The outer screen on fold is just to narrow sticking with the ultra
Pixel Fold is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Pixel fold for the win, ive every samsung fold, & didnt like the skinny front screen, so when i first saw the pixel, i knew it would be the phone id love 😍 love it
Both are good but fold 5 is better however googled outside display makes it a must buy for most. But fold 5 is the best phone all time !
I Have The Z fold 5 I Am A Samsung Knight For Life !!!!!!
The Z fold puts all your apps to deep sleep and you don't get all notifications to save battery. I have to get my notifications.
YESSSSSSSSS CJ IS BACKKKK
Do you think Google has lost it swag in smart phone game. I'm a pixel 7 user and i use it for work and I thought about switching to Samsung because of battery life and because when i take my pixel 7 out in sun light i can't see the screen. What are your thoughts on the state of Google and should i get the pixel fold or z fold 5 or S23 ultra
Can't have a foldable phone without a stylus. It makes no sense. Hopefully the z6 will have the pixels form factor and a bigger battery and better cameras
Hey where you get that cool back ground on the zfold5
Z Fold 5 custom colors blue w/black trim
I am going with the pixel fold, but I do like Samsung so I keep an S23 ultra as my second line.
I like the shape of the Google Pixel Fold better...I wish it had a compatible pressure sensitive pen.
I've already decided on the Google
Why do you have different backgrounds and think it was a fair test. Looks to me like the Z fold background is brighter in the first place? Same background= fair test
Fair point
Galaxy fold 5 FTW!
Had zfold 3 and 4 . Went with the Google fold due to the aspect ratio. Samsung got comfortable and didn't make the change. Samsung's hardware is amazing but their front cover screen is way too narrow and unusable
Hardly unusable. The front screen width is about the same as on an iPhone 6/7/8/SE or iPhone mini. Millions of people have used or use those phones.
What launcher is running on the pixel fold?

I never had any issue with my Pixel fold ,it's never overheated, the battery is very good and the camera is super excellent.all the bs and backlash I listened on social media to push and discourage people not buy it .for me it's the perfect phone, better design ,much compatible and comfortable to typehandwritten.of course ,😅 Samsung is good at it ,to brainwash the mindsets of some people.thanks Google for your great work
I’m team fold 5 all day
I also have the Huawei Mate XS....now if the fold 5 was the same dimensions as the Huawei, the F9ld 5 would be the best foldable by far, especially with its zoom n picture quality
is it just me or a z fold camera's way bigger in person. Cause I got a z 4 and its huge compared to images. Or is it bc its an EU version instead of UK or US?
