    It's been around 6 months now and when it comes to Foldables in the North America, its still Samsung and Googles game to lose. One Plus has entered the chat but its first device has not made the impact in the West like it had hoped. So with that, which FOldable should you buy in 2024? Is 5 generations of the Galaxy Fold 5 too much to defeat for first timer Google? Let's see !

    I spent literally years listening to people tell me that the front screen on the Zfold was too narrow to be useful. So as someone that loves OneUI I was always saying I would buy my first foldable when Samsung released a Zfold with a wider aspect ratio. So when OnePlus dropped the Open I bought it and that sold me on the fold experience. The only thing I was missing was OneUI. So I thought screw it, I'm tired of my iPhone and due for an upgrade and went ahead and traded it for the Zfold 5. And turns out I love that narrow cover screen. As someone with the beginning of arthritis in my hands having a screen that is narrow enough for me to type one handed without stretching my thumb is a a blessing.

      I'm very glad the narrow screen works for you. I mentioned the one handed technique and like you said, for what you are dealing with I'm sure it does make a world of difference. Thank you for taking the time to comment and watch. Be safe and well out there!

      I agree with you I have the OnePlus open and a z fold 4 and z fold 2 and my main sim card is still in the z fold 4 Samsungs software is soooo damn good and I didn't realize how good until I bought the OnePlus open and yes I do want a wider cover display but giving up that software isn't worth it and I got use to it and isn't that bad they say it's unusable that's very untrue

    Really do not understand why people get annoyed while using galaxy front display. For me its a very comfy one hand experience. Actually for me its the opposite, when im occasionally switching to my iPhone, i get "annoyed" by its format.

      Really glad you like the narrow screen. I know there are definitely some people that do. For one handed use, gestures, swiping and opening up apps. I can for sure get why some people would gravitate towards that. Thanks for taking the time to share my friend

    The pixel fold was a major disappointment for those of us who had been waiting literally years for it. I love my pixel devices and i love folding phones but the pixel fold was a VERY hard pass for me. If they had released it in Canada i might have given google the benefit of the doubt and bought it when i can return if i really didnt like it but dropping (at the time)well over 3k CAN to import one and have a hard time to return...hell no!
    Fold 5 going strong since launch its just better all around except the cameras in some areas. Hopefully google can actually try to make an epic device this year and actually sell it in more then a few select countries

    Always hated the narrow outer display of the z fold phones. Tried it out on the z fold 3 and wasn't surprised with my dissatisfaction. Later on when the pixel fold was announced I knew it was what I wanted. Ended up waiting a bit for prices to drop, lucky enough found an open box like new one for $1100.00 USD and love it. I mean yea the G2 isn't anything crazy but it does everything I need it to. Love the regular outer display. I use it like 80% of the time

    I'm still near the beginning, but I'm already appreciating your insights into both phones. It sounds like I want the shape of the Pixel and everything else from Samsung. I have planty of devices from both companies throughout my home. I just want the best one. 😄 So, do I hand on to my Note20 Ultra for a little while longer before I switch to a folder? Or would one of the current two in your video be better to have as a phone for a small business and keep my Note as my personal phone?

    • @Joshua88Graham
      @Joshua88Graham  2 месяца назад +1

      I think if you’re gonna keep your note, you could go for the Galaxy fold 5. As you won’t be giving up your experience of having that larger display for your phone. And then you can get the more polished features of the fold 5 when it’s in tablet mode.

    As someone whi owned the fold 5 I too can tell you not to use the stock Samsung keyboard, just download google keyboard abd all of your typing problems will go away!
    At the end ended up giving up on the fold due to its camera..

    Biggest downside for the pixel, for me at least, is the tensor. In terms of performance its like a 3 year old processor. If im spending nearly 2 grand on a phone i expect it to last a few years and i think you would start to become aware of the lack of horsepower and efficiency. I lived with z fold 2 3 and 4 before eventually going back to a slab phone as i grew tired of the slim front cover screen. personally would take the oneplus open over both.

    • @emjbostwick2068

      So do you own a pixel?

    • @nikc1313
      @nikc1313 Месяц назад

      @@emjbostwick2068 got the 8 pro at launch. Swapped it for an s24 ultra when it launched. Tbh performance was fine for me on the pixel after the Feb updated but I'd already ordered the s24 by then. Camera is worse but screen and speakers way better and I trust that the processor has enough headroom to handle whatever extra demands android might require in a couple of years time where as I felt the tensor was just enough for decent performance today.

    I do like both, but the galaxy fold is like going to Applebee's and the Pixel Fold is like going to Wendy's. The pixel fold was way too pricey for the technical difficulties that i ran into often.

    • @Joshua88Graham
      @Joshua88Graham  27 дней назад

    Appreciated the in depth comparison! Good stuff. I agree that the One Plus is probably best of the Folds available because it fixes that narrow display and also has all the benefits of the finishes of the Galaxy Fold 5.

  • @ramsfan709
    @ramsfan709 2 месяца назад +1

    First of all here in Canada can’t comment on the pixel because they don’t sell it here. I had the one plus open loved it but once again being in Canada I was concerned about getting it fixed if something happened. So I went back to the fold because of the software and it something happened that I needed it fixed there’s a place a few miles away from me that can fix it

    • @Joshua88Graham
      @Joshua88Graham  2 месяца назад

      Thats the downfall of one plus. Great hardware but if anything ever happens...it does seem that you will face struggles for support. Sadly Google really restricted its markets for the Pixel....I am in Canada and picked it up via 3rd party. But it makes total sense, Samsung definitely offers the most support should anything arise as a Canadian.
