Multistrada v4 way better, also way more expensive to maintenance too. You can even reset the oil light on a Ducati without spending $$$ to buy a diagnostic tool or go to dealership
The Multistrada v2 is the obvious competitor. The Ducati probably has superior initial quality but the Yamaha would arguably offer lower cost to own over its life span.
@@geforce5591 that's arguable now because the new ducatis are very reliable and their oil change interval / desmo interval are now longer than ever. I think up until like 30k miles yamaha's cost is cheaper but once you pass that, which not many people will I guess, the cost comes out pretty similar given that you have warranty for both bikes.
My Tracer MT09 is a 2015 model that cost me a bit over $15k new and I love it. Now done over 100,000 ks and going great. It's been from Sunshine Coast to Adelaide a few times via Phillip Island and the Great Ocean Road, also a couple of trips to North Queensland via the inland roads, plus multiple runs around SE Queensland and Northern NSW. I've had many bikes over the years, singles, twins, triples and fours, but this Yamaha CP3 motor takes the cake. Grunty, with howling top end, helped with a K&N air filter and an Akrapovic exhaust system. With it's good handling, it's still a fun bike to ride after 8 years. She's a keeper to the end.
yup that ugly "diving goggle". A friend of mine picked up his 2023 9 GT just last week and has NO TFT screen. I guess its Yamaha tactic to push customers into 9 GT+ Still wonder how that radar cruise control acts up.
That dual screen setup makes you think that Yamaha doesn't evaluate the design before committing to it. Shame - the rest of the bike appears to be a winner.

You stated that both GT and GT+ get the same TFT - no they don't the GT still has the previous two screen set up so anyone watching your review needs to understand that they key difference is the "adaptive" cruise control and 7" TFT screen which you can connect to Garmin nav app on your phone are ONLY available on the GT+.
As a 2021 9 GT owner, I think GT+ is for the new owners, definitely not for current 9GT users to upgrade, because it doesn't make financial sense. For me, my next sports touring is either S1000XR when they have ACC, or just multistrada V4
And give up the reliability?! Ride them all, go to the forums, and give the + some additional thought. The goal is to ride WHENEVER you feel like it, not when it's out of the shop again.
@@allwheeldrive XR and Multistradas are solid bikes. I've owned two XR's so far and I've had no issues. There's complaints on bike forums on every make and model.
Passed my full UK licence this year and planning on a big bike next year and I am looking at this bike and another it's great to hear a season rider explain good points and bad points great video
I thought I read in the Bike social review that the GT+ had adjustable pedals?, seat and handlebars. The ergonomics have changed from the Tracer 900GT ( I have a 2019 model) due to a new frame and this causes a slightly more cramped riding position which has put me off the 9GT. I am waiting to have a seat on the GT+ to see if there is any adjustability otherwise I cant ride it. That would be a shame as it is such a great bike. What are your thoughts on this and did you see any adjustability to the front pegs?

What a beauty, I bet it's a joy to ride especially on those Sardinia's twists and bends, it's like a race track! I loved it when I rode my Yamaha R1 over there but careful it's not for a beginner sort of rider both this bike and those blissful roads, you're super lucky to be there rather than being in ugly and wet England to put it lightly

Disappointed one of the things I am most interested in is the new dash which you mentioned but ten really failed (I think) to zoom in on and discuss features, Also I was left confused by the words "third generation quick shifter" DOES that mean this is a different unit than on 21=22 Tracer 9gt? Or was that already a "3rd gen"?? I believe you also maybe? failed to discuss the latest colors and which version gets what?? Oh wait ANOTHER thing I am REALLY interested to know is WILL this new radar cruise control work reliably with a another MOTORCYCLE in front of you rather than a car or truck? And would it have to stay directly in front of you or would it allow a lot of play side to side? I never like to lead a group ride I am always pacing another rider and it seems like a cool thing if I could put it in cruise control at a faster setting than the rider ahead and then let the radar cruise maintain a perfect set distance with no imput from me other than steering,,,,and would that work even in the twisties> Othewise since I dont commute I dont know I want to spend extra for the plus although the linked braking is a tad interesting Need a reviewer to test this stull and tell us what it actually does rather than reading the broshure to us....ya know?

I'm 6ft and I could not live with the screen on the Tracer 900 gt. The buffeting and especially the noise is unbearable. Based on what the reviewer said here, I believe this issue is still around. Also the seat on the older models had the tendency to slide you forward which got very uncomfortable after a while. If they changed the seat I hope that resolved this as well. Besides that, it was an awesome machine and (at the time) great bang for your bucket. If you are 6ft+ I'd highly recommended trying to get a prolonged test ride on it first before purchasing.
Only took like 5 years for them to get rid of the hideous split display. Loved my 2015 FJ09 and I so wanted the Tracer 9 when it came out, till I rode it. Did not have the spirit of my FJ I felt. I’ll be curious to ride this new one.
This isn’t a new bike, it’s just a new trim level. All the fundamentals remain the same as last years bike. The real question is ‘Is the screen still total pants?’

@@markb4772 People make a big deal of it because its unacceptable. If Yamaha supplied their bikes with square wheels, would that be ok too? Its frankly appalling that manufacturers include sub-standard screens on bikes that are supposed to be used for long-distance touring. It would be better if they were just honest and didn't bother including a screen at all.
@@Neverlast2010 They can’t possibly design a bike that fits all riders, no bike on sale today will fit 100% of riders, it’s totally unrealistic. The screen is no problem for a lot of owners. For my size the screen caused turbulence, I paid £110 for a different screen now it’s perfect, like I said previously I’ve owned a number of different bikes over the years and had to change the screen on all of them.
GT+ vs GS I know this isn’t apples to apples but these are the two bikes I’m looking at for touring. I’m guessing the price is going to be around $18k usd when it hits the states in 24. Will it have anything the 1250/1300 GS won’t have? (I don’t care about ACC or unified brakes) What could one say to sell me this over a GS?
@@morri03 well obviously that would be touring, as stated. Where I live, roads turn to gravel with out warning. It would be nice to have a bike that’s better suited for that. And let’s be real, most GSs never see anything dirt related anyways. People buy them for their ergos and luggage.. But the run cost would be lower on the GT+ I’m assuming and I have a dealer near by. The GS would hold its money better..both are a win really
It's a real pain that I have to wait 2 years before I can buy this beauty. I'm gonna do my A2 Exam next week so I will be stuck with an A2 bike for the first 2 years before I can do the A license 🥹
That's a completely wrong mentality you have, my dude. I was happy to go on a 650 mile adventure with a 50cc scooter when I didn't have my A license. Loved that little thing, enjoyed it, learned from it for 2 years. To this day I keep photos of it (been riding my Versys 650 for 5 years now). Not for a second did I think "goddamn crap, I hate riding this! I want a big bike now!" Take your time, learn how to ride, master the skill, master yourself and your reflexes and your muscle memory. And when the time comes, big bike experience is going to be that much better for it, trust me.
I am a Taxi driver and have a new car with radar mounted. In 2 times this summmer, it made a sudden emergency braking while driving fast in town. I mean...one time it braked on the spot driving 70 km/h with people inside and the other driving 30 km/h. I think it gets kind of confused by shadows or obstacles on the side of the road that maybe glare to the system. I was keen into the 9 GT+, but on a motorbike it could be deadly. My car is a german brand and it uses the same brand of radar as the 9GT+. I would go for the 9 GT if it would had the TFT screen of the 9 GT+. But no...I supose we have to wait for another generation to get those ugly clocks sorted out. Nice video btw.
I just did a test ride on a Tracer9 GT (no plus) and was surprised by how resistant it was to turn in, and how much input was needed to keep it in a turn. Checked tire pressure afterwards and they were down about 3 pounds, but this felt like something to do with the steering geometry. Someone at the demo day suggested that the forks may need to be raised in the triple clamps.
Two years ago the following question would’ve been unnecessary, in May, 2023 the answer should be a necessary feature of any review: How many of these bikes are being manufactured and where are they actually available? I used to worry about the fictive nature of biased reviews. Now, because availability is largely fictive, I wonder why I’m watching the review at all . . .

950 puts a waterline up your back in the wet, but its skyhook suspension is awesome. On paper the new Yam suspension could be better.

It's true, i have the 9gt and all of them are adjustable, but you need to get seperate bar risers to change the handlebar height.

Does this still have the horrible forward slant that forces you forward into the tank?
Would be interesting to know how it compares to the Ducati Multistrada V2S which, imho, is probably its closest competitor in this class.
The Triumph 900 GT Pro is pretty close, especially in price compared to the Ducati

Yes, the other reviews mention that this is true, same TFT screen and switches as the TMax with subscription navigation from Garmin.
