I did the same thing when i turned 23 (5yrs ago now 🙈), treated myself to the iconic dyson fan. Though it may be quieter, the noise it makes is far more uncomfortable. I was very disappointed in air flow too, my dream was crushed and argued with the retailer for a refund. (ps it has no AirCon function, it is just an expensive fan). I have since found the perfect fan (and own 4), the John Lewis 2 in 1, 16" fan (with controller 😂). It's genuinely silent up to setting 3, and it moves air rapid at its max of 8.

I still enjoy it to be honest and now I cba to send it back 😂 but if I even need a new one it’s always good to know what to get next
