It's all been said already, but the extra magnificence of this video is seeing these guys in their scruffy clothes (perhaps they're part way through the gardening, or have just finished washing the car) and they're totally transported by the beauty and genius of this ancient song. And so are we, much more than in a formal concert or church service. These are real people - the sort you pass in the supermarket - giving us something sublime. Thank you!
Remember not, Lord, our offences,
Nor th' offences of our forefathers;
Neither take thou vengeance of our sins,
But spare us, good Lord.
Spare thy people, whom thou has redeem'd
With thy most precious blood,
And be not angry with us for ever.
Spare us, good Lord.
Within 10 seconds the lump is firmly in the throat. That luscious modulation at 0:19... heaven sent.
One of the single best versions of this song ever...truly feel heaven here
What beautiful dynamic shapes, and what fabulous sounds this group makes - with this peerless anthem!! Congratulations......Exquisite and thrilling!
Sublime, merci Vox Luminis !
the ensemble is fantastic! amazing uniformity and aesthetic comprehension...
Best version I've seen on RUclips. We just sang this last night. The one thing we did, which I loved, was slowing down the "Spare they people whom thou hast re- (even SLOWER) deemed with they most precious blood," really milking that 7th chord.
My personal favourite is when the choir sustains the forte right up until the word 'redeemed' and then it comes away with a sudden diminuendo. Such a gorgeous effect, once you hear it, you can't hear it any other way imho!
Absolutely the best. My head turns. Beautiful !
This is SO, SO BEAUTIFUL!!!! I have no words... Thank you all...
Musique divine , nous élevant au dessus de notre pauvre condition d'homme ; merci
Excellent! Very good!
Heavenly!!!
Magnifique ! Vivement le CD !!!
A beautiful rendition. Deeply moving.
Me sinto nos céus . Bravo ! Bravo!
una belleza!
Outstanding!
It's much better than a concert ... without the "esthetic" rules and costumes that didn't change since ... since when ?
You should do the same during the public concerts !
BRAVO in any case !!
Lumineux (in french) !
Five stars!
Really great!
Wunderbar!
Not sure what the tall guy in the middle is going through - some sort of fit? - but actually I know how he feels. He's in the grip of something utterly beyond normal human experience. Even though he's weird, I love him.
Actually, he is conducting.
Bill, he's joking.
WOW indeed!!!
WOW
Excellent performance. Wondering why one singer is in shorts while others are wearing jackets and scarves...
Où peut on entendre une heure de Vox luminis ?
Encore ces vilains fachos de vox luminis! #Je sui Kaaris#;)
Sorry, standing in front of altar in shorts is inadequate. Imagine that a priest has the same dress-code.
This is lovely- and they’re so into it. Here’s one of my long term favourites of all time - Christ Church under Preston. ruclips.net/video/QqvBsWclJdY/видео.html
