Interesting fact, “Valerie" is a song by English indie rock band the Zutons from their second studio album, Tired of Hanging Around (2006). The song was later covered by Mark Ronson, with lead vocals provided by Amy Winehouse, reaching number two on the UK Singles Chart in 2007.
It's really sad watching this. Knowing how bad her drug addiction and eating disorder was at this time, yet somehow she could just sound this good. Very sad. She was done dirty.
Her damn father. The jittery part effing breaks my heart. For some reason her hair makes me so sad. It's like she couldn't cope at all anymore. RIP Amy. You were a force and it sucks you left this world at such a young age.
Don’t forget not only did she have vocals, was an incredible vocal stylist but one of the biggest reasons I liked her was because of her song writing! She wrote REAL woman music, all of her stuff she wrote, sometimes it waa self-deprecating, sometimes funny but she didn’t stick to the script of only being a needy woman in all of her songs. Sometimes she was a cheater, she called a man out for being too chick-like on one, she didn’t only make songs towards men, she was well rounded-wrote songs about her friends, does, 420 (hydro), had no problem saying in one song she was doing well and getting over him then by the end she’s with him again, she cursed, she was hip hop, sometimes a little gangsta, wrote about f-buddies, she was a modern woman going through it. May she rest in peace. 🕯️
She clucking here and all that twitching is withdrawals...Imagine while withdrawing and sitting down, so limiting her projection, she makes that noise.. She was truly blessed.. RIP girl
First time I heard Amy Winehouse, I was in a diner with a couple of friends. Her voice made me stop dead mid-sentence. I couldn't speak and then had to hear everything she had ever done as soon as possible. What a talent! She has a way of touching my soul like no other.
I know exactly what you mean. I bet she was miserable right before she recorded this, and right after, but there was a moment during this song where she was free and happy.
Amy had the greatest voice I’ve ever heard. Singing lessons and pure talent cannot explain her. She had the gift. Singing from the soul. A true original.
Remember watching her first time doing audition for record company, she played her guitar and sang, sitting down. The room stopped. Gave me chills. But they were already treating her like a commodity. Wish she'd been treated so much better by those around her. So so sad, and so sad to lose her so young.
@@TheDivayentathey did pay attention every one knew it was so obvious but it was a case of people where making money of her and sadly know one could have saved her her star was to bright to stay 😢
I just heard her singing on the radio from another room when I was doing the ironing. One of those voices, had to put down the iron, go and check who that was straight away.
Tragically, Amy joined the 27 club. She truly was one of the greatest vocalists of our lifetimes. It's sad to see this, knowing how much pain and discomfort her soul was in. Yet, some of the greatest music ever created was done under the influence. Art and substance are and have been intertwined since music began. You hit the nail on the head. She's the Jimi H. Jim M. Kurt C. Brad N. of her time. Soul. Love. Peace.
And Janice Joplin. There are some others, but she was the biggest cultural phenomenon that you missed in your list. They were all babies, and this industry chewed them up and spit them out. None of them were done, and it breaks my heart to think of all the amazing artwork that we didn't get because they left us so soon. Think about this, your favorite song probably never got written because one of these powerhouse talents didn't live long enough to write it.
@@TryMyMartiniI understand 27 is far too young to leave this life but let’s be realistic for a moment here, they were not ‘babies.’ They were nearly 30 years old!
In her history she loved the old masters, like in Jazz, soul, r & b and that type of music/singers. She then has her style, and was appreciated by her generation who may Not have heard those genre's. Her unique singing, voice, STYLE, just captivated people. Thankfully she had the vocals to do it and the skill/art to truly make herself known and loved. Tony Bennet adored her and said she was one of the BEST he ever sang with. And he sang with the Best from the old days, too. She truly was a "generational singer", once in a lifetime. This is my FAVORITE Amy Winehouse song but it makes me cry every time I hear it cos It’s so sad she left this world so young. What an AMAZING talent she was!
This song is how I was introduced to Amy Winehouse. I am teased as it’s a song for my namesake…oh my what an honor! I can’t get enough of the musical talent of Amy! I even read the book written by her best friend and listen to her music daily…absolutely love her voice and musical skills! Definitely one of a kind!

As an opioid patient myself, I can see that she's suffering. Jonesing or withdrawal, pick your word, but i can see her arms making motions my arms do when it gets really bad. The musician in me loves this, as the human I am just cries.
Ooh you should listen to Back to Black (song from the same titled album). That one gives me goosebumps every time. She’s just incredible. So sad we lost her, but her voice is absolutely timeless.
Amy had a talent that was very rare in the sense that she was technically perfect in terms of vocal ability and was also able to sing in a way that could convey any emotion and feeling she wanted, most great singers have one or the other. Very few have both. She was also supremely gifted as a songwriter, a lot of her songs are pure poetry. I would suggest watching her performance of Love Is A Losing Game at SXSW. She was talent in its purest form.
Pretty sure this is from a documentary movie simply called "Amy". It's an astonishing and heartbreaking movie. The demons that she must have fought in her short life…God, I miss her. 🙏
Please do live performance of Amy Winehouse- I love you more than You'll Ever Know. The video I'm referring to has over 30 million views.
Sitting here thinking “don’t you dare cry Polo, because then I’ll cry too.” Amy breaks my heart. You done won me over, I hit the “subscribe” button, ya big feely nerd. Please don’t tell the Twins, but definitely subscribe because the Twins were the first to coin this genre, and up till Polo, I didn’t need no others. Xxxooo
Just for the record Polo sir, Amy grew up with parents who only listened to Ella, Bille Holiday, Fats Waller, Cole Porter , the Duke etc etc etc. As You can hear, her roots were embedded
I fuc*ing love her voice....And how she often sings about her life
So happy that you got/get to experience Amy’s music. I grew up listening to her. My mom and I would even watch her live concerts…during them she’d always have a glass of whiskey on the stage and she’d take drinks in between the verses. It was incredibly sad to watch her spiral downwards. She is truly missed by her fans and will forever be my favorite female musician. She’s in heaven singing with the angels and her personal hero: Tony Bennett ❤🙏🏻
This woman was absolutely fabulous even in her sleep. Love Amy!(R.I.P.)
I Miss Amy so much and it breaks my heart the way it ended
Such talent, she just didn't have the support in place that she really needed. She would have had a better chance at defeating her demons. We still love your voice, Amy!
The fabulous Amy started as a jazz singer, which coloured everything she did. Such a loss.
Yes that year My hope I good .music kicked back in Interpol was there and So was a Spanish Artist named Julietta Venegas.! So many! I still love that musical high on my cloud! I was so fortunate to be there!. Although it was also one of the hottest years in Indio! I ended up in the infirmary . With lots of others still parting on their full beds! My bed! There must have been 5 people on it! Lol insane it was so Chill!😂
Jeez Amy Winehouse broke my heart . May she be with the stars.
✨🪄 ✨
Poor baby girl. They didn't save you! If you want your heart to break into a million pieces, watch a video of one of her last performances. They pushed her on stage to squeeze as many dollars out of her as they could. She was dying right in front of everyone, and no one saved her.
I'm late to the party also. I hadn't even heard of her until she died. People were saying how good she was so I took a listen and they were so right. ❤😢RIP Amy
Such a talent 👏
You should see her grammy winning.performance!
You’re gonna love her Rehab song!
Maybe start with all the live songs she sung on Jools Holland. Start with Teach Me Tonight. Another must is her cover of I Love You More Than You'll Ever Know.
