It would be worth your time to watch the young (I believe 12 years old) Angelina Jordan cover Valerie in her best Amy Winehouse style. You won't be sorry
Watch the documentary called "Amy" from 2015 in case you missed my post. It won the Academy Award for best doc back then. You will get to know her intimately just by watching that film.
So get this. Shes clucking here (in withdrawal). Shes sat down, barely able to concentrate and she sounds like this !! Amy was a rare gift. One of very few who would have been big in any number of decades,, Amy was soul, rock n roll, blues, jaz Motown and opera .. Much loved and much missed RIP girl
""Valerie" is a song by English indie rock band the Zutons from their second studio album, Tired of Hanging Around (2006). The song was later covered by Mark Ronson, with lead vocals provided by Amy Winehouse, reaching number two on the UK Singles Chart in 2007. " - I love Amy💙
This was Amy at her full best, and worst. This film shows her at her full 50's beehive, tattoo, heels, make up, skinny best self. But also her "in love with the wrong type", crack, alcohol, malnourished, birds hair, addict Amy. God, that performance SITTING DOWN! Miss u Amy. One love from Scotland. 💙
@BlackPegasuRaps Unfortunately, I’m sure that many of us regret we slept on too many artists until after they’re gone. But, you’re here now, so, take the win. The beauty of the artists that touch your soul is that they did touch your soul, and they’ll continue to touch souls down the road. And the artists that are here, don’t hesitate to see them, you never know how long they’ll be here ❤
Amy was a genius. Like most geniuses, on an emotional level, she was out of balance. Some stars produce so much light that they burn through their own core.
She's a natural performer, that nonchalance had live audiences captivated because it was real and then the crowd connects to tiniest smile or little hand gesture. Not the biggest fan of her music, but I hadn't seen a such a charismatic performer in a very long time before she showed up.
A band from Liverpool called 'The Zutons' brought this out in 2006. It was about a girl from your side of the pond that he used to date, but she was facing charges for DUI & couldn't come to the UK to be with him anymore.
Amy was a Jewish Londoner. She was heavily inspired by American Jazz and motown era. Ronnie Spektor of the Ronnettes (be my baby) was a huge influence on her.
Pure gold; the way she belts this out, so nonchalantly, while playing with her hair, is testament to her talent. From what I recollect hearing, she was exposed to soul/R&B classic albums when very young and knew she wanted to sing that sound.
When I first heard Ren, I heard some Amy in his voice. It’s actually one of the things that hooked me :) she was an amazing talent… but her demons were too many and too much for her to overcome. I think this performance illustrated her fully. Unparalleled talent coming out of a young girl woman twitchy with substance use or withdrawal, who said many times that she thought sobriety was boring. Every time she managed to get clean and sober, she thought her life was less fun and enjoyable. There’s a documentary they did a few years ago that’s really heart breaking - to think of all the music we’ve missed. She was British, by the way.
Amazing talent. Was gutted when she past away. So sad and tragic. Remember her when she was on t4 pop world. Incredible talent, Fresh and vibrant, funny and fearless. So sad how it ended.😢
It's really not. She's hitting it, but not feeling it. I'm not throwing shade - Amy Winehouse's voice was amazing and she was a great songwriter in her own right. When she put her heart and soul into any song, it could break the stoniest of hearts. It's a decent cover of The Zutons.
Not a boomer... but the boomers are right, 1960s and 70s music is the real deal. And Amy Winehouse's style was old school, it was a 'throwback' to an earlier era style of music. That's why it sounds timeless, like the best classic rock, blues, soul, pop, etc. 😁
She started out as a pure, natural beauty, but she was troubled, she had many demons, namely bulimia and alcoholism. Amy was stunningly beautiful inside and out. She was sooooo uniquely talented. I adored her. It’s a damn shame that she’s gone. 27 Club gained another Legend 😢 You know, she didn’t care about the money, she wanted to write music and sing. In this video she wasn’t doing so well. She was thin and fidgeting, breaks my heart. But listen to her singing, even in that state. Now imagine her at her best 💫
The song was written by Dave McCabe, the front man of the Zutons. Valerie is Valerie Star a make up artist who he dated. The original Zutons version is also extremely good.
There’s a wonderfully sad documentary on her that you may be interested to watch. So many people took advantage of her talent, including her family, especially her father. As I’m sure many people have already commented she had a drug addiction which is reflected in the constant fidgeting during this song. Many of her songs revolve around her drug addiction. She was such a beautiful person with insurmountable talent. May God rest her soul.💕🙏💐
The song “Valerie” is a song by English indie rock band the Zutons. It makes me mad that Amy Winehouse is still not around with her amazing songs. We have Karise Eden (Australian)who won the Voice 2012 and in her audition blew everyone away with Its A Man’s World.
My favorite video, and cover of hers!! She sadly passed away due to alcohol poisoning as her alcohol level was 5 times over the legal limit, but as u can plainly see in this video, she dabbled in quite a few things! It's so sad that she wasn't able to overcome her demons!
Sadly that seems always the way, most of the great artists we've lost at a young age have been battling addictions and mental issues that proved too much.
A song ppl don't often know, that she was featured in, is called 'Cherry Wine' by Nas off his Life is Good album. Check it out, you won't be disappointed! 😉
She was phenomenal.. Jazz trained with pop sensibilities. Soulful, passionate & from the heart... good & bad of it all. If you liked this you gotta check out love is a losing game live as well. It is one of my favorite songs from her. This is my fav version... Very stripped down like this one.. Shows you how talented she is. ruclips.net/video/u_Rr5J1bk0I/видео.html
Ahh, Amy live onstage with The Specials is something I go and watch again and again. Watching her improvise and play about with vocals, clearly enjoying herself while not trying to steal the limelight, is beautiful and proof she was a humble gal. R.I.P Amy. If only someone had stepped in faster instead of feeding off your fame 🙏❤️🕯️
Love your reaction, as it echoed mine. How is she producing that vocal sitting down??? Amazing artist taken too soon. Original was a cheesier song by The Zutons.
I'm a HUUUUUUUUUGE fan of Amy, as are my family..I'd love to see you do more reactions of her songs :) There's been a film released recently called 'Back to black' which is a biopic about her..But also a documentary film called 'Amy' if you're interested in getting to know who SHE was, putting how died aside, although that's important, but not how she should be remembered.. Thank you for reacting and appreciating her :) 🤍
Original from a (I guess a brit) indie/alternative rock band 2006. The Zutons - Valerie. She liked that song so much, that she wanted to sing it in her style.
This was a good reaction. Love all your reactions everytime This song still gets to me you see my tia Valerie my moms baby sister one of her favorite song was Valerie by amy Winehouse they both were beautiful souls both had beautiful voices and both died from alcohol my tia died from cirrhosis of the liver now mind you they passed 6yrs apart Amy in 2011 and my moms sister in 2017 like I said her fav Amy song was Valerie because it reminded her and our family of her so we would say that’s your song Tia then she’d sing the hell out of that song so here’s were it gets interesting creepy and sweet she told us when she goes if we hear the Valerie song play on the radio she made it to heaven I was like ok cool because I’m open minded and believe in a lot considering I’m a empath so the day of her funeral arrives there playing all her favs or shall I say the families favs but no Valerie I was disappointed because that’s her fav like why not so we finally leave after saying goodbye we get in the car about to take off and guess what song plays once the music starts Valerie starts then we see a hummingbird which was one of her favorite creatures she had tattooed on her oh my gosh did my mom and I cry leaving the funeral parlor for the rest of the day everywhere we went this song came on until we said ok we get it you made it we love you and tell everyone hi for us then the music changed to something else and from that day at the funeral I’ve really gotten into Amy Winehouse because of my tia so thankful for Amy Winehouse bringing so much joy to my family and to my Tia for being such a beautiful soul even through there downfalls they both loved
It is a cover of Zutons song from McCabe. Her great delivery was an important part of her work during those tour dates and she did justice to the song.
Valerie was originally written and recorded by English band the 'Zutons' in 2006. Amy took it to another level when she released it (working with Mark Ronson)
What I learned from the comments today. Amy was from London, she’s jewish and this was a cover song. Just Amazing ✨ You guys are the best! Thank you
you HAVE to hear 'amy amy amy' from her earlier stuff. also, 'my bed'. just great!
It would be worth your time to watch the young (I believe 12 years old) Angelina Jordan cover Valerie in her best Amy Winehouse style. You won't be sorry

@@confucius12012I was about to say the same, she was very ill when she recorded Valerie hence the twitching
Does alcohol make u I guess “cluck”?
@@TheBasher-_-it can yes but she was using more than just alcohol
Tweaking she could still bring that soul out , such a tragedy , she was a beautiful wounded soul.

R.I.P. Amy Winehouse . . .
And thank you for leaving your extensive music library 🎵
💔
This is my favorite song ever!! I was so devastated when we lost her. 💔
Super sad. I didn’t even appreciate her art while she was alive 😢
Impossible for me to hear this without breaking down in tears.
Originally wrote and sung by Zutons by favourite version but most like Amys version best
Elvis Costello...

RIP Amy, brings tears to my eyes when I hear that voice.
simply stunning, Tears Dry On Their Own- one of her classics
She had the purest jazz sensibility. She just heard music differently from the mere musical mortals.
She heard music like Van Gogh saw colour.
Jazz or R&B?
Not that there isn't a huge overlap.
Amy was a genius. Like most geniuses, on an emotional level, she was out of balance.
Some stars produce so much light that they burn through their own core.
Love killed her.
Love for the wrong man, took her down the wrong path..
So true.
I was living in Camden in 2011 when she passed, and it felt like the whole town was in mourning.
The whole world mourned 😢😢
She's a natural performer, that nonchalance had live audiences captivated because it was real and then the crowd connects to tiniest smile or little hand gesture. Not the biggest fan of her music, but I hadn't seen a such a charismatic performer in a very long time before she showed up.
You Know I'm No Good...another great song by Amy Winehouse... 💛
A band from Liverpool called 'The Zutons' brought this out in 2006. It was about a girl from your side of the pond that he used to date, but she was facing charges for DUI & couldn't come to the UK to be with him anymore.
It was about Valerie Star
@@BozeDoesGodsWork I've no idea who Valerie Star is... Apart from in this song obv.
I loved Amy...she had such a beautiful voice. Valerie is one of my favorites!❤❤❤❤❤
She has such a jazzy vibe that I absolutely love! This song is ❤️🔥❤️🔥✌🏻🫶🏻
Amy was a Jewish Londoner. She was heavily inspired by American Jazz and motown era. Ronnie Spektor of the Ronnettes (be my baby) was a huge influence on her.
You need to watch the documentary of her called simply “Amy” that came out in 2015. That should get you up to speed in the Amy Winehouse rabbit hole.
Totally x
This movie will answer all your questions.
This!!!
No one ever gives enough props to her backup singers/dancers 😮these men are incredible❤
Pure gold; the way she belts this out, so nonchalantly, while playing with her hair, is testament to her talent. From what I recollect hearing, she was exposed to soul/R&B classic albums when very young and knew she wanted to sing that sound.
She was the kind of .... hearing her voice the first time and having the feeling she been here around forever. It's a voice in a million ... RIP Amy

It's so sad she is gone! She was truly a gift to the music world!
she was an amazing artist taken a way to soon in life will always miss her singing
My fav song of hers is so sad, called love is a losing game. So much emotion & soul
losing her was a terrible loss to music...she was something special...and the demons took her from us
This may be a cover, but it's Amy's song! 🤩😍🔥
The original is the Zutons, like everyone's saying, but the version of Valerie Amy sings on is Mark Ronson's.
Not a boomer... but the boomers are right, 1960s and 70s music is the real deal. And Amy Winehouse's style was old school, it was a 'throwback' to an earlier era style of music. That's why it sounds timeless, like the best classic rock, blues, soul, pop, etc. 😁

She's so good that it breaks my heart everytime I listen to her song
It’s talent thats what u are watching, she is nonchalant because she is so good. And this is real . RIP Amy thanks for showcasing her.
Absolutely a cover that she owns the hell out of😂
Amy Winehouse is one of the greatest...
My friend wrote this song and was very grateful to Amy for covering.
Except no one ever listens to the original and it’s a great song. Why would your friend want his original creation ignored?
Who wrote it then?? Cause I know the band as well lol
@@personalcheeses8073the band is scouse..like me lol.. but personally I hate Amy's version the zoutons was and is better
There are some live recordings of Amy on the Jools Holland show real early in her career which are worth a watch.
That's when she was at her best.
The song was written by Dave McCabe, the front man of the Zutons. Valerie is Valerie Star a make up artist who he dated. The original Zutons version is also extremely good.

So strong, yet so fragile. She wore her heart and soul on her sleeve.
I’ve been in love with her almost 20 years now. I have to keep myself from tears. Just love her..
Oh man, you said Lauryn hill❤ Amy covers her too covering that thing😮😊
I love Amy, but her cover of "That Thing" was a hot mess.
I loved this! You do great reactions keep it up!

She writes many of her own songs based on her life and personal experiences
