      @@bubblesthemonkey6615Nathan Mackinnon is the most unstoppable player in the NHL and has been for a good while now. Even when my Blues were a defensive juggernaut they struggled to slow him down and he consistently broke down maybe the best defense at the time over and over again like it was nothing. Whereas a guy like Mcdavid was would just skate in a straight line and hope to burn the defense was more manageable as the Blues up until they started to rebuild in 2023 kept Mcdavid to under a point a game until that time, unlike Mackinnon who was pretty much unstoppable when he decided to take over the game. What separates and makes Mackinnon so much better and harder to deal with is his shiftiness and explosive skating style. Mackinnon skates almost like a running back in the NFL by changing speeds and directions constantly making it difficult for the defense to read what’s about to happen in the play. I’ve said for probably the past five years that Mackinnon is the best player in the league and now everyone is finally giving the man his rightful recognition he deserves.

I get where you’re coming from tho, his combination of speed, skill, physicality, hockey IQ and mamba mindset makes him arguably the most complete offensive player I’ve seen since Ovi. I dunno if this makes sense, Sid is the most efficient and effective skater. Always finds the right spots on the ice at the right time. There is a reason he’s also known as the Mac Truck. Dude is all power and speed, plows through effortlessly when he can’t go around.
    Feels like the quintessential hockey player of his group. Passion, skill, strength and power; takes no crap and is a great fighter to boot.

    MacKinnon is an absolute force of nature; undoubtedly one of the best forwards of the 2020’s.
    If he played on the East Coast or for a Canadian team, he would have a lot more visibility than he does in Colorado.
    Regardless, he’s a top five most valuable Forward in the whole league, for sure.

    • @JenniferBleuse
      @JenniferBleuse 8 месяцев назад

      The problem is that he couldn't win a cup in a Canadian team . He has one and the Avs have the potential to win more cups. I'm glad he plays for the Avalanche . Denver has always been a hockey city

    If I'm a GM choosing one player to build a team around it's Mackinnon. He's not McDavid but the difference is that McDavid can carry a team offensively, Mackinnon can drive the bus and bring the whole team with him. Mackinnon is the only elite power forward in the game today. McDavid has elite finish and elite speed that has Mackinnon edged out but Mack has a grit and a fire that McDavid just doesn't have.

    • @tomfoolery333

      Agreed. He would be my pick to build a team around also. The grit he has in combo with his elite talent is unmatched.

    Last night's game nearly brought a tear to my eye. I have watched his OT winner like 10 times now. That shit is just unreal, and the comeback the Avs were able to mount is insane. If Georgiev can get back in form like he was last year, we stop making bad turn overs at the net, and we get Lehkonnen back, this team will be dangerous.

    Increadibly skilled, one of the fastest and skilled skaters ever but still willing to play physical, is capable of absorbing a hit and has that DAWG in him

    I think the best summation is he just doesn’t play cute hockey. More like prime Sakic and Modano than any modern guys.
    And he has that insane extra gear. I go to a lot of Av’s games and it’s astonishing to watch his speed in person. And his skates are always the loudest ones on the ice.

    MacK in his prime is a force of nature, and he really deserves to win a Hart before he hangs them up. My only concern as an Avs fan is what he looks like when he passes his physical prime. His work ethic and hunger should keep him going longer than most, but Father Time catches everyone. Will he be able to adapt his game once those gallops and crossovers don't get him the separation they do now? I hope so.

    Should be interesting to see how the physical side of his game carries into the playoffs. Running over guys like Emberson is fun to watch, but dishing out additional offensive-side big hits takes its toll. Come post season, defenders will take that trade every time to separate MacKinnon from the puck and let the bodies collide, even if they end up getting the worst of it.
    Everyone shifts it up into another gear come the post season, especially when it comes to physical play. It's hard to even imagine MacKinnon has another gear, it almost feels like he's playing post season hockey while the rest of the league is keeping some in the tank for the rest of the schedule. If he does still have another gear, it could be a historic performance.

    Mackinnon reminds me so much of Mark Messier in so many ways: big, strong and not afraid to use that size and strength, superior skater, great shot and vision.
