Knies deserves a lot of credit for that play in OT. I will always say that losing him in the Florida series is one of the main reasons they ended up losing so quickly. Maybe they still would’ve lost with him in the lineup, but I think they at least would’ve stood more of a chance with him then without.
we all knew that the team blew its load just winning a single series. we all knew they were gonna get absolutely hammered in R2. now they can spend the entire length of Matthews' next contract try to win the 8 games it takes to make it to the Conf Final and they can FINALLY get down to the business of breaking our hearts in R3 like the good ol' days of the 90s and early 2000s.

It was a beautiful moment. After seeing that and hearing that the Panthers beat the Bruins, I was so sure that the Leafs were going to go on a huge playoff run. Needless to say...that confidence died very quickly in round 2.

While his shot would have missed the goal by about three feet without the deflection, the decision to shoot in the first place was very good - I understand that 100% of the shots you don't take, won't go in. And with some traffic in front - so why not?

Don't forget the bogus high sticking calls in game 6 of 2022. Leafs had just erased a 2-0 deficit and had all the momentum on their side going into the third until back to back soft calls gave TB a 5-3 to tie the game and send it to OT.

I will die protecting our precious Johnny Toronto, NYI can suck one, that insane elation and relief of that goal was something I'll never forget, that image of the moment post goal deserves to go in a museum (or at least my wall), years and years of heartbreak finally culminating to some degree of success. "The curse" is not winning the Cup. It has nothing to do with winning rounds. As a born Leafs fan of over 30 years, I take offense to people thinking we care about a round or two. You don't pay 4 guys half the salary cap to disappear for half of all their playoff games.
Also the officiating was absolutely crazy. Like, the put them in an asylum crazy. And of course, a high stick was missed right before the Leafs goal. Glorious NHL playoff hockey.
The thing I find funniest is that everyone was freaking out over the littlest things like Gudas pulling on Jarnkroks stick a little bit or getting mad that the refs called two blatant high sticks the year prior. But when not one, but two massive incorrect calls go in the leafs favour (missed high stick on Hagel in game 6 and Point goal being overturned for no reason in game 3) nobody bats an eye.
Toronto won that series against a over tired team that was on the decline and will be even worse this season and Florida showed the Leafs they weren’t that good.😮

This Leafs team couldnt even measure up to rosters Boston, Tampa and FLorida had at their peak...They had to wait until Tampa was depleted and worn out to get by them....Tampa outplayed them in that series but thats why hockey is better than all other sports because one bad bounce or mistake can change outcome

The goal was never nullified because the play had already been dead for a couple seconds before he took the shot.
