Knies deserves a lot of credit for that play in OT. I will always say that losing him in the Florida series is one of the main reasons they ended up losing so quickly. Maybe they still would’ve lost with him in the lineup, but I think they at least would’ve stood more of a chance with him then without.

we all knew that the team blew its load just winning a single series. we all knew they were gonna get absolutely hammered in R2.
now they can spend the entire length of Matthews' next contract try to win the 8 games it takes to make it to the Conf Final and they can FINALLY get down to the business of breaking our hearts in R3 like the good ol' days of the 90s and early 2000s.

One of your last sentences says it all - John Tavares' 1st series-winning goal is a goal the Leaf's fans will remember forever! Not bad for an 11 million cap-hit player!
While his shot would have missed the goal by about three feet without the deflection, the decision to shoot in the first place was very good - I understand that 100% of the shots you don't take, won't go in. And with some traffic in front - so why not?

1st round curse? How about cup curse? How about not being a Playoff successful team since the original 6 expanded to 12 teams?

Unpopular opinion… this goal means nothing. For Toronto, they need to get to the cup. They have a great team to but don’t act like they pulled a Florida last year. They beat one team that was tired from competing for actual cups

This Leafs team couldnt even measure up to rosters Boston, Tampa and FLorida had at their peak...They had to wait until Tampa was depleted and worn out to get by them....Tampa outplayed them in that series but thats why hockey is better than all other sports because one bad bounce or mistake can change outcome

Blowing multiple goal leads and then losing it in OT several times in the series is not outplaying the Leafs lmao

@@Coby2022yea but the leafs only had the upper hand in game 2, Tampa controlled Torontos offence nearly the whole series except for the perfect plays made to restore game 3 and 4. Tampa outclassed Toronto for most of the series

@@Coby2022Statistically the leafs were definitely outplayed that series. Which is fine, teams win series’s while being outplayed all the time, but the fact that the leafs got annihilated in round 2 after this makes this look a lot like a fluke.

Tavares doesnt have what it takes to win imo. Every team he plays on struggles with him as a leader. He's too quiet in the locker room to be a captain.
