When you have 8s that have that kinda magnet...your crazy to mount them normal and hide that beauty.
I'll be mounting my 8's normal but will have a beauty panel to watch
there are a couple other reasons to mount them like he did
It allows more air to cool the coil and it removes the mass from inside the speaker box giving you more unrestricted volume inside.
plus you have easy access to the wiring.
@@markmartin1263 so basically it allows more room to play lower frequencies? I’m building a box soon for my 4 8s on around 3k trying to get tuning to 30-32hz need a design first
That’s actually a decent size motor, there’s still some 8s with bigger motors
@@markmartin1263I’m not sure about the more cooling… the air inside the ported box is being cycled enough that it’s going to be the exact same temperature as ambient, and that air is being pushed and pulled around like crazy so it’s actually kinda blowing on the motors. Not to mention the sun being on the cone vs the motor.
Never heard that explanation for smaller subs. But makes sense.
I personally love 10” subs. Always have. Two tens in a simple sq build, perfection. I’m currently running 4 10”. Not blowing off the doors, or going down to 16hz. But a GOOD fun amount of bass
it will always sound more full than on 8s imo! even though those are hi rms 8s theyre still more punchy
I've been into car audio my whole life, to see 8s play like that is pretty impressive. Nice job guys. 👍
I always tell you Jake that 8's these days are really good. I love 8's. I wish Orion would make a 8 inch HCCA.
Yessir it was impressive for being so lowww
That would be one heavy ass hitting 8! That Orion is the hardest hitting Sub I’ve had miss it😢
Fantastic job on this setup! 🔊🔥
Brother from another I swear you are a major game changer fr fr. Love the theory and concept you explained of with paper and pencil the science behind it makes all the sense
Does that theory extend to a hardened paper cone made to be stiff? What about woofers with non paper cones?
Saying big subs can’t play tight is just like saying small subs can’t play low.
Very different style of build I love it man
I've had several systems through out the years all the way from (4) 8"s, (2) 10"s, (2) 12"s, (1) 15", and (1) 18" and I have to say the best sounding of all of them was my system with (2) 10"S. These were all in the same vehicle other than the (1)18".
hi power 10s all the way for fullness. cant ever skimp on the box this guy didnt and thats why he can push the 8s to the limit
Awesome setup 👌
Loved my 2 10's when I was a kid, thought I was downgrading at the time but my 12's didn't fit. But I was pleasantly surprised. I put 4 6inch subs in my ex's mustang 20 years ago and it sounded great with a few mid and highs.
I hope I'm remembering this correctly but back in about 1982/83 I was at a car show at the Sacramento Fairgrounds and there was a 1970 mustang fastback that had, as I recall-and counted, 20 8" subwoofers in it. The bass was DEEP and you could here it cleanly from anyplace on the fairgrounds. I've never been a bass-head but it left a life-long impression on me.
I thought it was a Camaro
@@bondovwvw I'm sure it wàs a Mustang because I had one just like it. It was a long time ago though!
There was was also a Camaro at the time with 20 Pyle 8s and sanyo amps. You could hear it for over a mile.
@@bondovwvw Maybe it was a Camero. It was a long time ago. I would think a fastback with the fold down rear seat would have more space, but either way it was quite a setup for the time. That's back when Pyle was a much more respected name.
So was sanyo ask Jerry ain't load he was banging those Targa 10" on that sanyo amp. An to this day he claims those mtx terminator 15" he put in a mustang 🐎 (4) of them . Sucks ,only had them in for one day an ripped them out.
Lots of motor force for small cone area, that’s why it’s so crisp. Very cool!
Awesome setup. I would be geeking with homie. Lol
Wow impressive as hell for 8’s
My only thing, for someone so technical about cone control, you would think he would know 1/2 ohm hurts dampening which would effect SQ which he was paying attention to. 8" isn't just cone control from cone flex, but 8" has a lighter cone which is easier to control. More control means more detail. More detail = better sound. 10" is pretty much the best all around since most have a broader frequency response but still light enough to keep control. 12" is about max for SQ.
For someone as technical as him I'm sure he's tried everything and this is what works for him.
10s ftw.....running 3 X10s, and I can play 16 louder than this guy
My thing is I rise to 1.2ohm which brings back that dampening ability.
@@JonGotBass you have 34 square inches of cone area more then me and I'm clamping 1700 watts which was my peak when I rolled into clip. its usually around 1100w . you should be able to play louder.
@@DutchHollandLowz hush
Nice. Makes me miss my Rangers. Maybe I'm just too old, but I can't bring myself to go with 8's. I know they have great output now, especially compared to the ones when I started out in the late 80s/early 90s but its just an aversion I can't overcome. I have always stuck with 12s, 15s, and 18s but have heard some impressive builds with 10s and 8s. There is a guy at work with a Taramps 8k on a couple of 10" Sundowns (not sure of the model, he had it all done at a shop and didn't know much about any of his equipment) but it really has me thinking of going with something smaller just to see what I can do with it. This has to be the lowest I have seen 8s play. Really nice setup, love the truck too.
id hook u up with 2 sundown u series 10s... on a taramps smart 3 bass... box built to sundowns recomended specs, except tuned to 32hz...
great budget banger...
all on one run of oversized 0 gauge ofc wire.. agm, lithium supplement, and 240amp alt...
it would sound like 3 15s from the 90s, all in 2 cubic foot of net box space.. and, youd still have cargo room..
Yeah I love it
My home theater sun is a Dayton ultimax 15 it’s tuned to 17hz in an 11 cubed enclosure lol makes sense in the smaller speakers being more crisp. Prob why Dayton made their cones out of carbon fiber zero flex. Idk about music tuned to 17hz I had to add 2 10s for my theater to play the higher notes on movies and music.
woow is power full 8" subwoofers🎉
Just upgraded to an ADX4k amp and Audio Dynamics AD5012 2 12s wired down to half an ohm. Big 3 upgrade extra battery lithium batteries brand x 240x alternator, Jy power NXTCaps it bumps
2 12s were always what I used back in the day but I just wanted a nice thump in the trunk for rock & metal.
great analogy on size ty it was magic
9:54 I am putting this on a t-shirt! Well said!
Love my zvx 18 would love to hear a single 8 in a4th
Had ranger walled before with 2 15 re audios those 8s are flexing that truck
Man talk about maximizing every little thing nice nice
Crazy wow
Ow myghad 4 8" 16hz??? Man thats fckn amazing!
siiiiick!
How do you handle phase alignment?
What Electronic crossover are you using?
How many cubes is your box? Dam thats 🔥
When your frequency is in time with your high hat it gives that extra touch
8-8S would be awesome in there
I took my 2-10 zv6 out and put 4 x8v4 in gately box and I'm not disappointed at all. 350 amp alternator, big 3, agm, 100 ah lithium, taramp smart 5k, people don't believe the sound of them 8s
This was very loud for 8" subwoofers.
A normal (square) subwoofer box inside your car acts like a bandpass subwoofer box because of the cabin of your car. The cabin of your car is also a subwoofer box! Isolating the inside of the car wil make the woofers go louder... A good subwoofer box calculator takes care if you put the woofers up side down, or normal...
6 12 pioneer premiers with 2 RF Punch 500x2. on a Geo Metro . Neighbors hated me
That logic on works with soft material not a hard stiff cone 😂
MBE enclosure will love this😂 he loves 8" subwoofers unfortunately he hates Skar Audio.
he wont love it he will hate it and say its fake then get his fan boys to attack the channel.
Tight track, OJ had best verse tho
2:47 sound like I hear someone playing la pongo fina bass boosted 🇩🇴🇦🇷💪🏾
*😮I WANT THIS.* 😳
Im curious to know what musical instrument plays at 16Hz?
Bass guitar tuned low
@@planetphatness Nope, a pipe organ and thats it.
I run dual (stereo) KEF KC62 subs 4 ×6.5 inch drivers.Smaller cones rule 1000watts per channel
8s are the way to go, they are tight and crisp. I had 2 10s, 2 12s, 2 10s and 2 12s, 4 12s, 2 15s and 4 15s. 4 15s is the most recent system and it was sick but the next build will be 16 8s. Im looking around but id like to go with JL 8w7
If you go jl just go with the 13 1/2
I know space is limited but that amp is taking a beating. Why is the can on the bed not moving?
If this was all true than they wouldnt make subs bigger than 8s.
Why?
This the build that beat mine by a smidge 🤣
what do you have ?
@DutchHollandLowz I have 2 10s in a ported, cab-22 and a 48ah bank and its tuned to 23
@@thenotoriousnmp2431 very nice. I'd like to see the system. Where r u located?
Wish I would have checked my Camaro when I still had her it had 1 12" audiobahn immortal $3000 for 2 12s early 2000s 2500rms 5000peak competition sub 2500 watts of old school Rockford fosgate power it would take the rear view mirror off with a little glass stuck to it had BIG SPL for one 12" sub custom ported box
@16hz that bass gotta feel like an earthquake
Saying big subs can’t play tight is just like saying small subs can’t play low.
What if you do the pencil thing but use a thick, hardened piece of paper that’s similar to a subwoofer cone?
I’d love to see someone show excursion at the dust cap and at the edge of the cone on a Stereo Integrity HS-24”. Would be interesting to see if it was different.
If it is different, I’d like to see what a HST-11 does. Same motor as the 24 but an 11” cone.
I mean , Bose uses 5.25 inch sub woofers. so there ya go. That said, I think they can fix what you're talking about with cone Angle.
Huge box for 8s... he could almost fit another 4 next to those ...
My only issue with the subsonic frequencies is you can feel them but not hear them. You have very nice control over those freqs and it shows but studio standards don't account for such low frequencies. I want to know exactly what effect you are trying to achieve because the spl value seems null.
its fun as hell getting low and windy o7
That’s infrasonic not subsonic, infrasonic waves are sound waves that are lower in frequency than what humans can hear.
I always thought about going with 4 8" instead of two 12"s. I could cut the front off my box and just cut holes for the 8"
2 12s is more cone area. All other variables equal, cone area is 👑.
@@loferski I did some reddit research and everyone who's tried it said the 12s are better.
Dang those lil things are moving air...
Wish there was less slo-mo great setup
I can't stand the slow motion. I gotta hit that ten minute mark to be monetized! Gotta make that money 💰
Would you still have those speakers down firing inside the box or do you reverse the phase so they're pushing back?
Long as all subs mounted the same it doesn’t matter 👍 just gives more box space internally
Who would have thought 8inch subs would rattle clothes I thought a fan was blowing at first
Can u send me in the right direction of somebody who can help me out with a custom build. I have a 2013 Camaro convertible with sundown audio but I want it louder. Thanks
Hey sorry but I don’t keep up with box builders sorry, suggest local audio shop as shipping is expensive
@@JacobViral I don't need somebody to build me a box, I already have a custom box, need help with the rest of the set up
I’d suggest 2 8 inch subs
I get this video is to hype up the little sub gang... but its all about the wind. And 8s dont make as much wind as an 18. 18s FTW
The example of the small subwoofer and rhe piece of paper is not so simple.
The stiffness of the cone, the width of the voice coil, the stiffness of the surround and even the weight of the cone itself (plus other factors) will come into play. So it is not a simple 1 factor thing.
Yes the idea is true overall but there are factors that could negate the effect a fair bit.
Owner still has that old school train of though. Kinda like saying 15s are sloppy lol
@@brianwatson3705 got it. And some were sloppy...... But again, depending on the construction.
first time got out talk by someone knows more about bass
Team megahurts ftw
Just saying anyone who knows how to build a proper enclosure can make them sound crisp, you don’t see 8’s in concerts as bass drivers you see 15’s and 18’s even at rock concerts and the manufacturers have the specs of the enclosure dialed to perfection.
I hear brother
6.5s vs 8s?
Well i wanted to hear what it sounded like and it was slowed the entire time lol
Why do the turn their subs upside down like that, do they push more air or something?
Basically turning the cabin into the box 4th order banpass ???
Most ppl invert, to add more volume to their box. Inverted subs take less displacement. Bigger box, generally more output.
This guy did, it for aesthetics.
Also helps cooling off the sub
JUST SKAR. WAY BETTER 8S OUT THERE
What kinda 8s did you say they where
ZvX 8 amzn.to/43T6dBT
Skar really knows how to build some nice subs
Bro has the good 8inch skars
The rigid cone action is called “piston action”
References the linear movement of the cone, less flex = better piston
Yoo jacob it’s jon jon from church
Hey man long time no hear 👋 reach out Facebook/Instagram JacobViral 👍
My headphones only go down to 20hz, so it sounds weird. I'm sure it's much more impressive in person.

Contrary to anyone's belief i am the original L7 square inventor right here in Oklahoma
Let the man talk.
Sucks because the microphone doesn't do this justice
He could’ve gotten better SQ and probably more output with 2 8’s with a T line enclosure.
Hes right i put 8inch skar subs in my daughters altima and it out beats my 18
Very nice.
Absolutely hate slowed down music
He slowed it to help avoid copyright
@@bassbrother101 no that all these bass heads think is cool
He's right Jacob has to change speed on his video so he want get copyright they will demonetize the video
A good h/o alt.. more battery reserve and more box tuning and this thing would kill

@@DutchHollandLowzright?!?!? Ur shits solid, dont fully agree with ur theory on how an 8 is better bc of rigidity, but to each his own and ur shit putting in work! I ran 4 sq 8s on 3600rms @ .5 for a while, was def impressive but still like my 12s and 15s, will only run the non pressed pulp cones tho. Yea dudes theory on cone control is silly
This guys idea on sub size is total BS.
Bingo.
Please stop nearding up bass
What?
You will never hear 16hz
🤯why ? Do you know what music is,.....try to listen Mozart ,for a change...
Do you know what music is?? Because I do it’s any genre of music unless you’re talking about the distortion which is coming from the mic not the system, why come on to a subwoofer video just to voice your definition of music?
Hate who ever is playing double toned music..... in the background. Always the same beat.....
