Good morning Kevin and Maryann! YUM, blueberry anything! Back in the day, love when the ovens were separate from the stoves and built in higher so you don't have to do any bending over! 🥰
I was saddened by the closure of my favorite antiques store in the Sacramento area. Midway was a store that specialized in everything mid-century modern. It closed not because of a lack of business but because the owner who was very elderly just wanted to retire and enjoy his life. But my better half and I purchased many of my appliances from them, including my favorite General Electric hand mixer, circa 1965, It looks like something right out of the Jetsons. and it was love at first sight. And though we don't have a big collection of vintage appliances, my better half and I love sitting back in the evening and watching your show and pointing out the appliances we see in the background that we also have. Love your show. it's a real treat for us, and we love all the little fun facts, like German chocolate cake has nothing to do with Germany, Ha, Shout out to your sister!! She's great! Keep up your wonderful show!!
Hi jbavar! Thank you so much and Midway sounds like it would have been my kind of store! Sorry they closed but at some point people want to retire. I'm sure it was a lot of work running the store, but sounds like they had wonderful things! I know the GE hand mixer you have - it's a great one! Thanks for watching!
Hi Kevin, thank you for sharing! I love when you’re baking, everything looks so delicious I would love a piece right now! Have a fun morning with the little kids, they must be so cute.
Oh MAN!!!! 😋 my mom used to make Blueberry Buckle . It’s soooo good . I have her recipe that is very similar to yours . I add a little sour cream into my batter. One of my favorite things to eat EVER! Thanks for showing it . 😊
I've been making buckles for about 10 years, blueberry and raspberry versions. I was told it was a recipe of Canadian origin. In my version, there is a layering-first the batter on the bottom, then the fruit is laid on top of the batter, and finally the crumble on top.
Yum! I haven't made a blueberry buckle in at least 3 years. It's perfect for a Sunday breakfast treat. I also love the recipe's versatility. You can swap in almost any fruit you have in the kitchen. I've also chopped up a couple of apples and have made an "apple buckle."
Yay, Thursday with team COF. Blueberry deliciousness-thank you for the tutorial and recipe. You are absolutely correct in keeping that butter in the crumble cold. That information is invaluable to beginners who may get discouraged if they don't understand the technique and the reason behind it. I use a similar crumble on a pumpkin bread that I got exactly wrong a couple of times before I got it right. I love your channel. I hope that y'all have a wonderful weekend.
Never knew why it was called a buckle. Always learning something on this channel 😊. Looks delicious! So cool how you are teaching second graders a little about the past! Thanks for the video and recipe 💙
The only time I had ever heard the term Blueberry Buckle before in my life, was from Gerber's baby food!! Back in the late 90's, when our kids were being fed in high chairs, one of their favorites was a dessert Gerber offered called Blueberry Buckle. It was basically like a thick blueberry sauce... high in sugar and having no nutritional value at all, it was eventually discontinued. But it sure was good! This, (which is probably where Gerber got the name) looks absolutely delicious!! I definitely want to give this a try! I wonder how this would taste using rhubarb instead of blueberries? Hhhmmmm... anyway. Wonderful episode, I hope your 2nd grade visitors enjoyed your presentation!! Sorry for rambling... take care!!
Hi Greg - too bad Gerber stopped making the Blueberry Buckle baby food because it sounds so good I might find myself eating a jar of it! LOL! I love your idea about trying a rhubarb version! The rhubarb will be ready here in Michigan in the next couple of weeks and I'm always looking for new ways to enjoy it. The second graders were so much fun - we had a great time! Hope all is well with you! Thanks!
That looks so good, and easy! Thanks Kevin and Maryanne. Good luck with the school tours! ❤😊
Thanks, Sharon! The student tours were a lot of fun!
Good morning Kevin and Maryann! YUM, blueberry anything! Back in the day, love when the ovens were separate from the stoves and built in higher so you don't have to do any bending over! 🥰
Hi Vicki! The wall oven is nice - everything is at eye level. Thanks!

Hi Suzanne! This was perfect in the morning with our coffee! The kids were wonderful - we had a blast!
From a family of Canadians, we love our buckles with a drizzle on top. Good with blackberries too. 😊
Thanks, 1 corinthians! I'm told that the "buckle" has Canadian origins. It's a wonderful cake - I'll bet the blackberry version is great!
Thanks Kevin! Your posts are always a great escape after a stressful day.

Thanks - I have not heard of that method for making the buckle, but it sounds like it works beautifully. Thanks!

Good Morning 🙋♀️👍
Hi Trudy! Thanks for watching!
Some clove in the crumble would have been yummy too!
Hi bbymks - you could add a little spice of your choice to this recipe! Thanks!
@@cavalcadeoffood absolutely!!
I would love to be there are hear the kids try and guess an answer.
Hi dlotboy! It was a fun game and I was impressed that they were able to guess many of them! Thanks!
Can this be adapted to make muffins?
Hi Mike - I think you could put the batter in a muffin tin instead of a baking dish - should work fine for muffins. Thanks!
Didn’t you ever learn that it’s not nice to eat in front of people without offering them any??? 😂😂😂😂
LOL! Sorry, Ladythyme! I wish I could figure a way to offer samples through the screen! Thanks!
