Peach cobbler is definitely a Southern thing and, like the GE 40" stove, something from my childhood. Mom calls this the "cuppa cuppa cuppa" recipe after what you use to make the crust. Loved Ralph's microphone hat. Reminded me of Al Franken reporting on SNL with his satellite dish hat.
Hi Jonathan - I love the "cuppa cuppa cuppa" that's a good way to describe the recipe! Ralph's microphone hat actually works great - and we always laugh when he puts it on! Thanks!
What a way to get the day off to a good start- better than a cup o' joe! Love seeing Ralph in his special microphone cap! BTW, the cobbler looked amazing.
That looks simple and delicious! Thanks for showing Ralph enjoying the cobbler. I love his humor. Love the stove, and also the range top set into the counter. I wish I had a spacious kitchen like your studio kitchen.
I absolutely adore that stove! I wish they would leave everything the same but make it in stainless steel and self cleaning. I would buy it in a minute and cut out some cabinets to fit it.
Good morning Kevin & Ralph! Ah, peach cobbler my all-time favorite flavor & it looked delicious! I think a blackberry version would be just peachy too! 😁Ralph did a great job with filming, while still in traction! What a trooper! 😂
I'm visiting family in Michigan and took a road trip to Croswell this morning. Cavalcade's window display is even more beautiful in person than it is in your videos. I know the townspeople are happy to have you there. My only disappointment? You weren't there. I took a selfie in front though. My son laughed at me.
Hi Jeffrey! Thank you for stopping by Croswell and taking a look at the Cavalcade display windows! Sorry I wasn't there, but I'm glad you were able to see them in-person and I hope you're having a great time visiting with your family in Michigan. The colors are incredible right now! Glad you got a selfie!! Thanks so much!
That's my favorite stove/oven! Beautiful design. Had a friend add Peach Crown Royal to her recipe. This is a recipe I have always loved, and I am going to bake for 1st time in my life. Looking forward to trying your recipe.
Delicious! This cobbler is a big staple in the south where I live. Fresh peaches in abundance make for many a dessert. The only thing I would have done differently is to add a touch of cinnamon and maybe a smidge of nutmeg. Keep the great videos coming. Love this channel!
I agree about the cinnamon and nutmeg. My peach cobbler has placing the flour mix before the peaches. That helps give a little peachy taste to the desert. And I agree with the frozen peaches for better texture.
Oh my my my !!!! Stop! Just stop with your delectable delicacies !!!! 😂. I LOVE watching you guys cook and chatter. Better than watching the vast majority of what’s on the boob tube these days. Keep on baking boys ! I swear I can almost smell and taste your dishes through my phone screen.
We made this recipe tonight and everyone loved it. So peachy--taste and smell. Thank you. I have come to appreciate those stoves--I see my Mom's GE stove differently. My parents had everything GE--Dad worked for GE and received a discount.
Hi Bluehill - so glad you tried the recipe and thanks for letting us know! I always felt that GE made some of the best appliances back then. They were such a large corporation and they had a lot of researchers and engineers designing products. Thanks!
This looks good, however, I've done regular ol' biscuit topping for cobblers and they bake right in the cobbler. The most recent being one with strawberries and cracked black pepper with the pepper mill and it's wonderful. Topping was with a buttermilk biscuit topping and again, baked in a hot oven. This makes a great breakfast if you ask me.
Mmmmmmm tasty! 😋 That does sound easy. Look forward to trying this one out! I have a bag of rhubarb from last year frozen and vacuum sealed in the freezer... I bet a strawberry rhubarb cobbler would be wonderfu!l 😋 So are you or do you have plans to give tours of Cavalcade and the kitchen studio? I've always thought that having a studio audience on one of your episodes would be an interesting opportunity for you. Maybe that would be a bigger pain in the butt than it's worth... but it's something to think about. Maybe even just a question and answer episode with you, Maryann and Ralph? Something to consider... I know Maryann isn't comfortable being in front of the camera, but maybe she could just film you and Ralph answering questions from a studio audience. Okay... enough ideas. 😊😊 Thanks for the recipe!! Take care!
Hi Greg - this cobbler didn't last long! I think a strawberry rhubarb version would be wonderful! At this time, I only do a tour of the Cavalcade for the local elementary school - it's a fun field trip! I am hoping to do more tours and events there (cooking classes, demonstrations, etc.) when I retire in a few years and have the time to organize these kinds of things. A Q&A show might be interesting! Thanks for the ideas!! Hope you make a cobbler - it's a great dessert to serve warm on these cool days!
Now you need to get a 1950s GE Stratoliner to go with the Liberator range! I’m going to make this recipe for my husband this weekend? Kevin,Have you ever made a nice fall chilli video yet other than the Cincinnati chilli which my husband loves,he’s from Ohio!
Hi CC! Don't you love the names they gave models of stoves back in the 50's?! I don't know that I've done a regular chili recipe - but this is the perfect time of year for it! Thanks!!
Hi from Indiana, Kevin and Ralph! I just subscribed a few days ago, and I love this channel! This cobbler looks incredible. I've decided just now -- I'm going to make one next time I get together with some friends from college. By the way, I love the videos featuring all the old appliances. I watched the one the other day about the Lady Gibson Hi-Lo oven. My grandparents had a similar Kenmore when I was a kid. Same harvest gold color. It developed problems when I was 13 or 14 and they ended up getting rid of it. If that had happened now, I know I could have fixed it and preserved it. Anyway, thanks for the videos and the peach cobbler recipe! Take care.
This stove is the bomb! I love this one so much. It's definitely my thing. Thanks for this recipe, too. BTW, do you have an explanation as to why RED is often the chosen kitchen color? Just wondering why that is? Your pan looks similar to mine which I've had since 1978 and I still use it, particularly for popping corn. Thanks guys. ("Should we leave you two alone? Bwahaha)
Hi Valli!! That stove is the bomb! It would be interesting to know why red is so popular in kitchens. I've seen it as a kitchen color going back well into the 1920's, perhaps longer. Thanks so much!
I am always looking to improve my peach cobbler to eventually make the ultimate peach cobbler. I have always used canned peaches because 95% of the time the fresh peaches in the market are beautiful to look at, but green and tasteless. On the rare occasions when the peaches in the market are ripe and tasty, I want to enjoy them by themselves. Ralph is right, the canned peaches have a slightly slime texture. I will have to try this recipe!
Hi Margaret - I agree with you about fresh peaches. I haven't found good fresh peaches for a long time. I find I like the texture of frozen peaches better in things like cobbler. Hope you try it!
Since I'm not a fan of peaches I am definitely going to try this recipe but with apples. And yes I do indeed get upset when Ralph doesn't taste. In fact my least favorite recipe videos online are the ones where NOBODY tastes!
Hi James - I think this would be yummy with apples. Ralph always gets a taste but sometimes we don't have time to film it, but we try. He loved this cobbler!
Oh, yum Kevin. I love the simple ingredients. So, budget friendly too. I would have to substitute a sugar substitute being a type2 diabetic. Hopefully that would work. Love from Ky.👍🍊🍊🍊💕
I use a can of pie filling and a white cake mix and a stick of butter. but the pie filling in the bottom and then the white cake mix and then the cut up the stick of butter on the top. I use a cast iron oven and coals from a camp fire. always a big hit.
@@cavalcadeoffood it’s been very up and down with my dad being very sick in hospital and I had some shocking news myself, but I’m getting there! glad your both ok 😊love to see your videos when they come out
Hi Amy - we are little past peach season here in the Thumb. When they were in season, I bought them a few times and we were disappointed each time. Very mealy, dry and not a lot of peach flavor. I don't know if it was because summer was so dry, but the local peaches haven't been great the last couple of years. Hope you had better peaches up in Muskegon - a beautiful area!
Yesterday, I decided to make some peach cobbler, despite the warning that you gave me. I added cinnamon to both the peaches, and the topping. Fortunately, I tested one peach before I put the topping on it. Talk about bland, you were totally right about the fresh peaches. I added about a cup of frozen blueberries, just to give the fruit flavor. I also made the cabbage soup recipe that you posted yesterday. I did mine in my instapot. I'm looking forward to the leftovers of both for lunch today. I really enjoy your videos. I've been telling my friends and family about them. Thank you for making them. Please thank Mary Anne and Ralph for me, as well.
my mom was one of 6 kids during the Depression she often told me how in the fall they'd go to self-pick orchards and gram would can the peaches and apples and they'd eat hot apple or peach pie with cream for supper on Friday nights
Hi Briney - thanks for sharing that story! It's amazing how the simple things are often the best and what people remember. I'll bet those pies were wonderful!
I'm not sure what I like best: the unapologetic gluten, two cups of sugar, dairy, and full stick of butter recipe or the color commentary cameraman/assistant with "viewers want to know" questions. I think I might actually be able to make something for Thanksgiving dinner that people will be willing to eat.
Hi Siamon Soo! With sugar, butter, sweet peaches and ice cream, it's hard not to have wonderful to serve (at least for those who aren't on a diet!)!! Thanks so much!
Hi Lenawee - if using canned peaches, there would be no need to cook the peaches ahead of time. Just use them right from the can and you would want to reserve a cup or a cup and a half of the liquid (syrup). Not sure how many cans you would need, but I used 2 pounds of frozen peaches. Thanks!
Hi Kevin & Ralph, I enjoy watching you & your banter between the two of you gives me some humor & laughs. Thanks so much!

Thanks, Lady Thyme! We have to get Ralph out from behind the camera every now and then!
I so enjoy Ralph's sense of humor! ツ
